Author's Note: Age of Ultron begins here! Also when I watched The Incredible Hulk 2008 movie, I remember how it kept me thinking what an awesome crossover this was at seeing Tony meeting General Ross in the end of the movie. But I didn't know I was witnessing the build-up of a complex cinematic universe. Though it's sad that Bruce and Betty's relationship didn't continue in the MCU universe. They definitely meant for each other.

I don't own Avengers or its characters. I only own Riley Stark and other OCs that appear in the story.

Take on the World

Chapter 27: Avengers House Party

(2015)

It was the morning early hours in New York.

Rising early in the Big Apple allowed anyone to hear the birds on the street.

America's real source of unstoppable strength was the capability of its people.

In New York, the city where everyone was constantly on the move, there are countless, unadorned human dramas.

"WAHOO!"

A cheerful echoing laugh escaped from Riley's mouth as she flew above the sky of New York.

Riley wore a pink and white futuristic bodysuit with an aqua blue arc reactor chest. It included a white leotard with pink accents at the shoulders and waist, white gloves and white thigh-high legging with a black bodysuit underneath. On her face was a futuristic pink and white visor. Two black wires with pointed pink bits hanging off the ends hang down the side of the visor. The visor had a small white and pink microphone attached. Her chestnut brown hair was tied in a braided ponytail.

Upon creating her hero suit, the young brunette adopted the code name Jewel Star.

It felt amazing of finally getting and creating her own super hero suit like her father, but with her own style of it.

By using her visor, Riley could scan or take pictures of anything that caught her interest.

There were various people below the city taking photos and videos of her as she flew by.

A grin grew on her face as she took a photo of herself after landing above the crown of the Lady Liberty statue.

The fourteen year old girl then removed her visor to see the view in front of her with her warm brown eyes, silently admiring the scenery.

The Statue of Liberty was a reminder of people's responsibility to be vigilant and see the true meaning of freedom and oppose complacency in themselves.

But alas, there weren't many people like that in the world.

Riley then placed on her visor before closing her eyes and dropping off the Statue of Liberty.

Then her rocket boots activated, making her fly back in the air.

"J.A.R.V.I.S?"Riley spoke up.

"Yes, Miss Stark?"J.A.R.V.I.S asked.

"What's the schedule for today?"Riley questioned.

"Nothing out of the ordinary, madam."J.A.R.V.I.S declared."Captain George and the New York City Police Department arrested a man, who attempted to rob a woman's purse."

A frown appeared on Riley's face.

"That's good to hear."Riley complemented."So it's actually another dull day today?"

"Not exactly, Miss Stark."J.A.R.V.I.S answered."Your father and the rest of the Avengers will throw a party tonight to celebrate their recent victories."

Information data appeared on Riley's visor, making her grin in delight.

"Oh, right."Riley chuckled in excitement."The Avengers went to infiltrate a HYDRA base in the country of Sokovia. There had been reports that Loki's scepter was located there."

Riley made her way to Avengers Tower as she activated the song 'Holding Out for a Hero' by Bonnie Tyler for her to listen on the way.

All has been pretty great in the life of Riley Stark.

In the aftermath of the Mandarin and all that ensued because of that whole situation, her little family naturally had to move from their exploded Californian home and officially living in New York.

It was definitely an adjustment from spending most of her childhood as an only child in a Malibu mansion to now living full-time in a New York Tower with a group of remarkable beings.

Especially when these adults were known as the Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

It's been three years since the Battle of New York.

In the Avengers, as they're still publicly known, Riley had friends, aunts, uncles, mentors and all of the things she did exactly know she wanted.

On the other hand, the young brunette had taken on more responsibility for Stark Industries as she had begun her official training as future CEO.

Though her point was that training for CEO definitely was not her favourite part of being a Stark, but it did just feel right.

It was her grandfather's and her father's legacy and it's her duty to carry it on.

Upon arriving back to the Avengers Tower, Riley got out of her suit and went to hit the shower to have herself washed for the upcoming event of the day.

Once she finished showering, the fourteen year old girl went to her bedroom to dry her hair and putting on her clothes for the day.

Riley placed on a deep blue sweater which was the same shade as sapphire gems and tiny white stars in the fabric which twinkled, a pair of black jeans that seemed to be made of velvet night and light cerulean ankle-length heeled boots. Her chestnut brown hair was styled in its loose and curly style.

The young brunette then went to the kitchen to make herself breakfast.

A plate of perfectly spiced and fluffy eggnog pancakes with a homemade cranberry maple syrup.

Once she made her glass of orange juice, Riley sat down to eat her breakfast.

As soon as she started cutting her pancakes and started eating a piece, Natasha came by and planted a kiss on her forehead.

"Morning, Riley."Natasha greeted.

"Hi, Auntie Nat."Riley replied with a small smirk."Is my dad and the others still sleeping?"

"Not all heroes wake up bright and early to fly around the city, Riley."Natasha informed.

Riley smiled awkwardly at Natasha's declaration as the attractive red haired spy went to make herself a glass of blood orange juice.

Natasha had the healthiest diet out of the entire team and thanks to her work, she had tried dishes from all over the world.

Mission rations have ensured that she will eat pretty much anything, but she enjoyed sharp zingy flavours.

Riley ate more a bit more of her pancakes before she started speaking to Natasha.

"Say, Nat."Riley spoke up."May I ask you a question?"

"Go ahead."Natasha insisted.

"What's the difference between love and lust?"Riley questioned curiously.

Natasha's eyes widen a little bit and slowly placed down her glass of blood orange juice.

"Love is based on emotional desire while lust is strictly based on sexual attraction."Natasha exclaimed and became confused."Why are you asking me this?"

Riley simply shrugged in respond.

"I don't know. I am just trying to have a clear understanding between those two."Riley complemented."You know since my dad used to be a playboy and did more than just dinner dates with women."

Natasha covered her mouth to chuckle at Riley's declaration.

"A word advice for you then."Natasha instructed."If a guy talks to your rack instead of you, kick his ass."

Riley smirked and saluted at Natasha.

"Yes, ma'am."Riley replied with a bright smile.

When the evening hour arrived in New York which meant Thor's farewell party would begin.

Riley planned on going, since she had a pretty strong bond with the god of thunder.

The young brunette found him hilarious, with the way of him simply not knowing how 'mortal stuff' worked, or when he talked about Jane, not even knowing where she currently lived.

But Riley found it somewhat cute that Thor listened every time when she explained how music can be played over electronics, or when she just rambled on about her day.

So yes, she was going to be at the party.

And luckily, she gotten good advice from Natasha on the clothing she would wear.

Riley giggled as she slowly twirled herself around while looking at herself in the dressing mirror.

The Stark heiress wore a dark grey mini-dress with a trim of black lace on the bottom of the skirt to match the off-shoulder puffed sleeves. Silver material lines the V-neck to match the design on the chest. Her tights were black and her shoes were a pair of black high heels with a pale silver star on the top of the foot. Black ribbon wrapped over the foot and ankle. On her ears were a pair of black diamond drop earrings. Her chestnut brown hair was tied into a high bun with straight bangs.

Before heading out of the bedroom, Riley popped a pain killer pill into her mouth before washing it down with a bottle of water.

The young brunette took a deep breath and let it out as she stepped out of her bedroom and making her way to the room where the party was taking place.

Why would she feel nervous?

Th people in the party was only going to be herself, her father as well as the rest of the Avengers and friends.

She had nothing to worry about.

As the doors opened, Riley already heard loud laughing of people and the sounds of glass hitting tables as the owners called for another.

Riley arrived to the room where the party was, only to become shocked.

The room was filled with people, some in groups and others in pairs.

Some sat on the many couches scattered around the floor and others sat at the bar having drinks.

Riley suddenly didn't feel well.

She didn't know any of these people except her dad and friends and she didn't plan on spending the night with just her father.

"Pull yourself together, Rhiannon Maria Stark. This is a party."Riley thought, trying to assure herself."You're expected to take part in events like these. You're the future CEO."

After boosting up her confidence, Riley made her way into the party.

The fourteen year old girl wore a small yet charming smile as she waved at the guests that she passed.

Riley walked over to Tony and Thor, who were talking to a lady holding a glass of champagne.

"Hi, dad."Riley greeted.

"Rye-Rye. My little super star."Tony chuckled while putting his hand over Riley's shoulder."Glad you can make it."

Riley gave Thor a pouty face.

"Uncle Thor is it true that you'll be heading back to Asgard after the party?"Riley asked.

Thor let out a sigh.

"Asgard is my responsibility as Midgard and the rest of the Nine Realms, Lady Riley."Thor complemented."But I will stop by to visit again as usual."

This caused Riley to become excited.

"Then I'll look forward to hear more Tales of Asgard from you."Riley remarked."And who knows? Maybe you will give me a tour of your home in the future?"

Thor chuckled. "I would be honoured."

A look of disapproval appeared on Tony's face.

"Whoa there, kiddo."Tony complemented with a frown."No way I am letting you go in a space trip."

"Dad."Riley scoffed.

"There is nothing to worry about, Stark."Thor assured with a smile."I'll keep your daughter out of harms way-"

"Yeah. Well, no offence, Point Break, but my kid belongs on Earth."Tony complemented."Life here is totally different from the one on Asgard."

"I don't see any harm bringing your daughter to Asgard."Thor informed."I am sure my father wouldn't mind her having a small visit."

"Okay. Fine."Tony responded."But Asgard isn't really a civilised place."

Riley rolled her eyes in disappointment at seeing her father and Thor argue over her going to visit Asgard, making herself silently walk away from them.

She loved her father a lot.

Though she was a little upset that he didn't trust her to travel and see new places.

Even meet new people that were not from Earth.

Pepper couldn't attend the party since she was busy running the largest tech conglomerate on Earth.

Betty, Jane and Darcy were also busy.

So that left Natasha and Agent Maria Hill the only women that the young brunette know in the party.

Riley went across the room towards the bar and sat on one of the empty seats to order a drink from the bartender.

The bartender's name was Luke Cage.

"Hey, Luke."Riley greeted."A blue lagoon mocktail, please."

"Coming right up, Riley."Luke replied.

Luke prepared the Riley's beverage that featured blue curaçao syrup, lemonade and citrus soda before it was garnished with a cherry and lemon slice.

"I don't suppose you can make it a bit bubbly?"Riley suggested with a curious look.

"And get fired for giving you alcohol?"Luke chuckled, knowing what Riley had in mind."Not happening. You're underage."

Riley simply shrugged in defeat as Luke presented her the non-alcoholic beverage.

"All done."Luke informed.

"Thanks."Riley thanked.

Riley slowly started drinking her mocktail beverage as Bruce went to sit next to her.

"I was expecting to see you by yourself."Bruce commented.

A soft chuckle escaped from Riley's mouth.

"I am the only kid in this party, Uncle Bruce."Riley declared with a smirk.

"Right."Bruce chuckled, giving the young brunette an apologetic smile."Sorry."

Riley raised an eyebrow at Bruce.

"Don't worry about it. I'll think of this a break from school gossip and getting attention from boys."Riley assured before glancing at the view in front of her and Bruce."Sometimes, it is nice to sit back and look at the scene in front of you."

Bruce nodded in agreement.

"So?"Riley spoke up.

"So?"Bruce repeated.

"How is things between you and Betty?"Riley asked smugly."You two seem to be hitting off very well."

A small laugh escaped from Bruce's mouth.

"It's…great."Bruce answered with a smile as he thought about the woman he loved."Betty is amazing. She is impressively intelligent, hard-working and resourceful and is shown to be a skilful and charismatic scientist. Though her relationship with her father General Thaddeus Ross was rocky at first when I became the Hulk."

Riley did a wincing sound with her mouth after taking another sip of her mocktail.

"Ouch."Riley mumbled.

"It took time for her father to realise his mistakes and that I wasn't his enemy, but just a person who needed help."Bruce declared.

Riley smiled in approval as Luke presented a raspberry margarita cocktail to Bruce.

"So it's peace for our time then?"Riley assumed.

Bruce smiled. "Peace for our time."

Riley and Bruce brought their drinking glasses up in toast before the two of them started drinking their beverages.

Steve came up the stairs to see Natasha by herself and looking at the view of New York.

"Hey."Steve greeted.

"Hey."Natasha responded with a small smirk.

"The party is not to your liking?"Steve asked.

"I am not usually the one for parties, Steve."Natasha commented."But I can praise the view from outside. New York is gorgeous at night."

A smile appeared on Steve's face.

"Is it?"Steve questioned."I wasn't looking at the city."

Natasha glanced at Steve.

"You let yourself get distracted and then you're easy to flip, Steve."Natasha warned, her voice mixed with amusement and sarcasm.

Steve let himself get lost in Natasha's beautiful green eyes for a moment before realising how much he wanted to kiss her.

"Does that mean we don't get to do the other training?"Steve assumed.

Natasha smirked. "I never said that."

Natasha gently cupped Steve's face, kissing him slowly as he brought his hands to wrap around her lower back and to cup the back of her head.

They made out passionately for a moment, both getting completely lost in the moment.

Away from the party.

Away from their distractions.

Soon after the party ended, Riley, Agent Hill and the Avengers were all seated around a coffee table while eating some Chinese takeaway.

Clint had yet another bottle of wine in his hands as the group sat talking about different things.

At the moment, they were talking about Thor's hammer.

"It's a trick!"Clint howled."A trick I tell you!"

Everyone turned to Clint, who had a rather proud smile on his face as he said the words.

"No, no, it's much more than that."Thor sneered.

Riley covered her giggle as she munched on her dim dim noodles using her chop sticks.

"Whosoever be he worthy shall have thy power!"Clint declared, mimicking Thor's voice."Whatever, man! It's a trick!"

Thor gave Clint a challenging smile and gestured towards the hammer.

"Please, be my guest."Thor insisted.

The smirk on Clint's face fell immediately as everyone's attention turned to him yet again.

"Come on."Clint retorted."Really?"

"Yeah."Thor replied.

The surprised expression only remained on Clint's face for a second before he wiped it off and replaced it with a determined one.

Accepting Thor's challenge, Clint stepped up to the coffee table where the hammer was resting.

"This is gonna be beautiful."Sam sneered.

"Clint, you've had a tough week."Tony joked."We won't hold it against you if you can't get it up."

Clint then grabbed the handle of the hammer which made everyone give a smile before he began pulling it.

The smile on the archer's face fell yet again and he frowned at the hammer.

Thor had a rather proud smile on his face as he watched Clint tug at it again.

The archer adjusted his grip on it before tugging with all his might, but the hammer didn't even budge the slightest.

Clint sighed and breathed out a laugh and walked back to his seat, clearly embarrassed.

"You know I've seen this before, right?"Clint chuckled."I still don't know how you do it!"

"Smell the silent judgment?"Tony asked.

"Please, Stark, by all means."Clint insisted.

Tony stood up from where he sat and went over to the hammer, making Riley struggle to contain her chuckle.

"Never one to shrink from an honest challenge. It's physics."Tony complemented and looked at Thor."Right, so, if I lift it, I then rule Asgard?"

Thor nodded. "Yes, of course."

"I will be reinstituting prima nocta."Tony stated.

Tony grabbed the hammer and pulled.

It didn't move.

He put on the gauntlets of his suit and tried again, but the hammer refused to move.

He even got Rhodey's help, but it still wouldn't move.

Defeated, the two also slumped back into their seats.

Next to try was Bruce.

Bruce pulled at the hammer once before climb in onto the table, a look of madness on his face as he roared much to everyone's surprise.

The doctor gave an embarrassed laugh as everyone stared at him on surprise.

Riley laughed lightly as she finished eating her dim dim noodles.

"I can't believe not even Uncle Bruce couldn't lift it up."Riley remarked.

Tony gave Riley a smirk.

"Rye-Rye, how about you try next?"Tony insisted.

Riley's eyes widen in embarrassment.

"Oh, no, no, no."Riley replied, shaking her head."I shouldn't."

This caused the older women to encourage the young brunette to try and lift up the hammer.

"Come on, Riley!"Maria encouraged.

"Show them how it's done!"Natasha insisted.

After taking a deep breath, Riley got up next and Tony cheered as he clapped his hand on her back twice.

The young brunette went over to where the hammer was and placed her hands on its handle before she began pulling it.

But alas, it didn't move a bit.

Steve went next rolling his sleeves up before he grabbed the hammer, giving it a pull.

The super soldier pulled the hammer and Riley's eyes went wide when the hammer budged slightly before it fell back.

The smile on Thor's face fell when he saw it too.

Steve pulled at the hammer again, but this time it remained on the table and didn't move.

Thor relaxed and smiled again.

Even though there was a nervous look on his face.

Everyone's attention turned to Natasha, but she quickly shook her head.

"That's not a question I need to answer."Natasha declared.

"All difference to the man who wouldn't be king, but the thing is rigged."Tony stated.

Clint patted Tony on the back.

"You bet your ass."Clint replied.

Maria pointed at Clint.

"Steve, he said a bad language word."Maria informed.

"Did you tell everyone about that?"Steve asked.

"The handle's imprinted, right? Like a security code?"Tony assumed, continuing with his theories."Who ever is carrying Thor's finger print is the literal transition?"

Thor laughed lightly as he looked at his friends and niece figure.

"That's a very very interesting theory, but I have a simpler one."Thor chuckled as he grabbed the handle of the hammer and flipped it effortlessly and caught it."You're all not worthy."

Everyone muttered out words of disbelief and groaned shaking their heads.

"Uncle Thor, you just ruined it."Riley murmured.

There was a sudden ear piercing sound which caused Riley to place her hands over her ears like everyone else.

Footsteps sounded from the other side of the room and a groan echoed through the large area.

"Worthy?"A distorted voice asked.

A stunned look appeared on Riley's face when she caught sight of an unfinished yet menace looking robot arriving into the room.
