Back to the Grand Underground
At the Solaceon Town Pokemon Center, the group was in the cafeteria while Dawn and Stella's Pokemon were being treated. Dawn was busy looking her ribbon case which held her Floaroma Ribbon and her newly won Solaceon Ribbon.
"Only three more ribbons and I'll be able to compete in the Grand Festival." said Dawn.
"Don't think you'll win the next contest; because I plan on winning that one." said Stella.
"Where is the next Pokemon Contest?" asked Clyde. Stella brings out a guidebook and looks through it for an answer to Clyde's question.
"I think it's in Veilstone City." said Stella.
"That's where my next gym battle is." said Lincoln. Minutes later after Stella and Dawn got their Pokemon back from the nurse, the group exited the Pokemon Center.
"How do we get to Veilstone City?" asked Luna. Lincoln brings up his map on his Poketch.
"This says we need to head north up Route 210, then we need to head east through Route 215, and once we get through there, we'll be in Veilstone City." said Lincoln.
"Then let's get going." said Stella as she grabs Lincoln's hand and starts pulling him towards the northern exit of Solaceon Town, with Dawn glaring at her before she and the others follow after the two. After they leave, the group finds themselves in Route 210. As they walked, Lincoln's Poketch begins to ring, indicating someone trying to contact him.
"I wonder who that could be?" asked Lincoln. Everyone gathers around Lincoln and he answers the call; a holographic screen showing his family and the Zhaus appears.
"Hey, Lincoln." said Rita.
"Hey, everyone; what's up?" asked Lincoln.
"First, we want to check on our daughter after her loss." said Mrs Zhau.
"Hi, Mom." said Stella.
"How are you doing, Stella?" asked Mr Zhau.
"I'll be fine; there's always the next contest." replied Stella.
"Any idea where the next one is?" asked Lola.
"Veilstone City; same place where Lincoln's next gym battle is." replied Stella.
"Can't wait to see that!" said Lynn Jr.
"We'll root for you, son." said Lynn Sr.
"Thanks, everyone." replied Lincoln.
"Hey, Lincoln; can you do me a favor?" asked Lori.
"What?" replied Lincoln.
"Well, I feel a bit left out, being the only Loud without a Pokemon; think you can catch one for me?" asked Lori.
"Sure; we'll look around the Grand Underground." replied Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln; appreciate it." said Lori.
"I'll let you all know when I'm at the Veilstone Gym." said Lincoln. After a few minutes of conversation, Lincoln ends the call; he then takes out the Explorer's Kit and uses it. Moments later, the group were in the Grand Underground.
"I'm going to look around for more Pokemon myself." said Dawn.
"Same here; maybe I'll find something for future contests." said Stella.
"All right, we'll meet back here in one hour." said Lincoln; Stella grabs Lincoln's arm.
"I'll need you with me; I might need your pokedex in case I find a Pokemon and need to look up what it is." said Stella, making Dawn frown.
"Okay, then." said Lincoln before Stella starts pulling him off somewhere, but not before she looks at Dawn and sticks her tongue out at her, making Dawn growl.
Lincoln and Stella walk into a cavern that had several ponds in it; as the two look around, they notice a large clam shell in one of them.
"What's that?" asked Stella. She and Lincoln watch as the clam opens up, revealing a pink orb with a face in the center of it atop a light blue cushioning that had several balloon-like protrusions coming out of it.
"I think it's a Pokemon." said Lincoln as he takes out his pokedex and points it at the blue clam Pokemon.
"Clamperl, the Bivalve Pokemon. It makes a single pearl during its lifetime. The pearl is said to amplify psychic power." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Maybe I'll get this one for Lori." said Lincoln.
"Whoa!" shouts Stella.
"What's wrong?!" asked Lincoln with concern.
"Looks what else is in its shell!" said Stella. Lincoln takes a closer look at the inside of the Clamperl and sees a really big pearl.
"Is that a pearl?" asked Lincoln.
"It's the size of a softball!" said Stella.
"Lori will definitely want this Pokemon if it comes with a pearl that big!" said Lincoln. He takes out his Espeon's pokeball and lets him out of it.
"Okay, Espeon; use Psychic!" said Lincoln. His Espeon's eyes glowed blue as he uses his psychic powers to lift Clamperl out of the water and slams it onto the ground; the Clamperl responds by spraying Espeon with a powerful stream of water. "Espeon, use Swift!" His Espeon releases a barrage of stars from his tail that hit the Clamperl, knocking it upside down.
"Try catching it, Lincoln!" said Stella. Lincoln nods before he takes an empty pokeball out of his pocket and throws it at the Clamperl, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes!" shouts Lincoln.
"You did it, Lincoln!" said Stella. While Clamperl's pokeball is being sent to storage, Lincoln looks up its information in his pokedex.
"This says that Clamperl's a girl, she knows Water Gun, Whirlpool, and Iron Defense; and she has the Shell Armor ability which makes it so she can't get hit with critcical blows." said Lincoln. "As soon as I get to a Pokemon Center, I'll do a quick swap for Clamperl, come back down here, and send it to Lori."
"Okay, Lincoln." said Stella.
Meanwhile, with the Sharp siblings, they were in a rocky cavern with several patches of grass around it.
"Think we'll find something in here, little bro?" asked Sam.
"I just did." replied Simon; Sam looks to see Simon pointing at what appeared to be a two-headed bird. Sam takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Doduo, the Twin Bird Pokemon. The brains in its two heads appear to communicate emotions to each other with a telepathic power." said Sam's pokedex.
"Are you going to try to catch this one, Simon?" asked Sam.
"You bet." replied Simon, pulling out a pokeball. "Croconaw, go!" He tosses Croconaw's pokeball and releases him. "Croconaw, use Ice Fang!" Croconaw charges at Doduo while ice surrounded his fangs and he bites Doduo, dealing super effective damage to it, and freezing it solid.
"I think you can catch it now, Simon." said Sam.
"Got it." replied Simon. He pulls out an empty pokeball and throws it at the frozen Doduo, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around a few times until it clicked. "Yes! I caught a Doduo!" Sam uses her pokedex to look up Doduo's information.
"This says your Doduo's a girl, she knows Peck, Growl, Quick Attack, Leer, Fury Attack, and Wing Attack; she has the Early Bird ability, which makes it that the sleep status condition doesn't last long with her." said Sam.
Meanwhile, with Dawn, she and Clyde were in the area the Louds, McBrides, Zhaus, and the Sharps had their picnic.
"See anything, Dawn?" asked Clyde. Before Dawn can respond, she hears something nearby. She looks to see a round, pink Pokemon with long green leaves on top of it, triangular ears, and four stubby legs.
"What's that?" asked Dawn as she takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Hoppip, the Cottonweed Pokemon. They are blown adrift by winds. It is said that when Hoppip gather in fields and mountains, spring is on the way." said Dawn's pokedex.
"It's so cute; I'm catching this one." said Dawn as she takes out a pokeball. "Go, Swablu!" She throws Swablu's pokeball and releases her. "Swablu, use Peck!" Swablu flies at Hoppip and jabs it with her beak, dealing super effective damage. Hoppip shakes its body and releases a purple powder from it. "Use Safeguard!" A turquoise force field appears in front of Swablu and it blocks the powder.
"Okay, Swablu, Dragon Breath!" said Dawn. Swablu fires a green beam of energy from her beak and it hits Hoppip, knocking it to the ground. Dawn pulls out an empty pokeball and throws it at Hoppip, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled a few times until it clicked. "Yippee! I caught a Hoppip!"
"Way to go, Dawn." said Clyde. Hoppip's pokeball vanishes and gets transported to storage. Dawn takes out her pokedex and uses it to look up Hoppip's information.
"This says my Hoppip's a boy, he knows Splash, Absorb, Synthesis, Tackle, Tail Whip, Fairy Wind, Poison Powder, Stun Spore and Sleep Powder." said Dawn. "He has the Leaf Guard ability which prevents him from being afflicted with status conditions during really sunny days."
"Are you gonna use him in a future contest?" asked Clyde.
"As soon as I train him up a bit, teach him some new moves, and maybe come up with a routine or two." said Dawn.
The group also take the time to train up their Pokemon for Lincoln's future gym battles, as well as Stella and Dawn's Pokemon Contests as well.
Lincoln's Monferno learned Close Combat, his Hisuian Zorua got stronger, his Bastiodon learned Endure, his Espeon learned Calm Mind, his Floatzel learned Whirlpool, and his Dragonair got stronger as well; and after his Monferno and Hisuian Zorua's training, they both froze and started to glow.
"Whoa! My Zorua and Monferno are evolving!" said Lincoln as he and Stella watched his two Pokemon started to change. After Monferno was done, he was taller, his torso, lower thighs, and the fur around his head was covered in white fur, the fire on his tail was gone, but a large fire was on top of his head, and on his chest, shoulders, knees, and back of his hands were gold, fireball-shaped marking.
"What is he now?" asked Stella. Lincoln points his pokedex at his newly evolved Monferno.
"Infernape, the Flame Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Chimchar. Its crown of fire is indicative of its fiery nature. It is beaten by none in terms of quickness." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Awesome!" said Lincoln. He then looks at his Hisuian Zorua; she was bigger, taller, stood on two long legs, had two long arms with sharp claws on the ends of them, her eyes were sharper, her muzzle was longer, her tail was gone, and the fur on her head was now a large billowing mane with multiple tips on it.
"What is she now?" asked Stella. Lincoln points his pokedex at his newly evolved Hisuian Zorua.
"Zoroark, the Illusion Fox Pokemon, and the evolved form of Zorua. With its disheveled white fur, it looks like an embodiment of death. Heedless of its own safety, Zoroark attacks its nemeses with a bitter energy so intense, it lacerates Zoroark's own body." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Lucy would like the description of Zoroark." said Lincoln. "And this says that she learned Night Slash after evolving."
"I don't think your sisters won't think she's cute anymore." said Stella.
"Maybe, but I still care about her." said Lincoln as he pets the top of Zoroark's head, making her smile.
Dawn's Piplup learned Mist, her Sylveon learned Calm Mind, her Pachirisu learned Thunder Wave, her Buneary got stronger, her Swablu learned Take Down, and her Quilava learned Flame Charge; Dawn's Buneary suddenly froze and she glowed.
"Hey; Buneary's evolving!" said Dawn. She watched as Buneary began to grow; when she stopped glowing, she was taller, she had long, cream-colored tufts of fur above her eyes, her ears were longer, she had cream-colored, fluffy fur around her wrists, and she now had long legs that are fluffy and cream-colored on the lower halves of them.
"What's Buneary now?" asked Clyde. Dawn takes out her pokedex and points it at her newly-evolved Buneary.
"Lopunny, the Rabbit Pokemon, and the evolved form of Buneary. It likes to keep itself clean and never fails to groom its ears. It runs with sprightly jumps." said Dawn's pokedex.
"She's beautiful; not only that, she now knows Mirror Coat and Magic Coat." said Dawn.
Stella's Roserade got stronger, her Eevee learned Calm Mind, her Beautifly learned Whirlwind, her Corsola learned Flail, her Combusken learned Bounce, and her Bronzor learned Extrasensory.
Luna was in a volcanic area, training up her Pokemon; her Graveler learned Rock Blast, her Grotle learned Leech Seed, her Eevee learned Calm Mind, her Hisuian Sneasel learned Swords Dance, her Aipom learned Double Hit, and her Rotom learned Hex. After Aipom's training, she froze up and started to glow.
"Dudette, you're evolving!" said Luna. She watches as Aipom started to change; when she was done, she was bigger, had two strands of fur sticking up from the top of her head, she had an upside down, v-shaped mark on her face, and she had two tails with large hands on the ends of them.
"I gotta find Sam, bro, or Dawn, and have one of them use their pokedexes to find out what you are, dudette." Luna says to her newly evolved Aipom.
Sam's Prinplup learned Brine, her Luxio got stronger, her Kricketune learned X-Scissor, her Golbat learned Bite, her Onix learned Stealth Rock, and her Eevee learned Calm Mind.
"You dudes and dudettes are doing so rad." said Sam, making her Pokemon smile; Sam's Golbat suddenly freezes up and begins to glow. "Dude; Golbat's evolving!" She and Simon watch as Golbat began to change; when Golbat stopped glowing, she looked like a purple bat with two pairs of wings.
"What's Golbat now?" asked Simon. Sam takes out her pokedex and points it at her newly-evolved Golbat.
"Crobat, the Bat Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Zubat. This Pokémon gained vastly enhanced flying capabilities after its legs became wings." said Sam's pokedex.
"Rad; and this says she learned Cross Poison when she evolved." said Sam.
With Clyde, he was in a rocky area, training up his Pokemon there; his Gallade learned Swords Dance, his Psyduck learned Psych Up, his Leafeon learned Calm Mind, his Ninjask and Shedinja got stronger, and his Absol learned Focus Energy.
Simon trained his Pokemon; his Croconaw learned Flail, his Aron and Slugma both learned Rock Slide, his Heracross learned Horn Attack and Counter, and his Gible learned Bite. Simon planned to train his new Doduo as soon as she's treated the next time he's in a Pokemon Center.
After a while, Lincoln heads back up to the surface to swap his Espeon for the Clamperl he caught for Lori; soon after, he goes back down to the Grand Underground where he uses his poketch to contact his family.
"Hey, son; what's up?" asked Lynn Sr who answered.
"I'm sending a Pokemon to Lori." replied Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Lori. Seconds later, a portal appeared; Lincoln tosses Clamperl's pokeball through it. Lori tosses the pokeball, releasing Clamperl. "So, what Pokemon is this?"
"It's called a Clamperl; there's something inside it, Lori." said Lincoln.
"What?" asked Lori. She looks down at Clamperl who opens up its shell; Lori sees the big pearl in it and quickly picks it up. "Wow! This pearl is literally huge!"
"It's the size of a softball!" said Lynn Jr.
"Gimme that pearl!" Lincoln hears Lola shout.
"No way; it's mine!" shouts Lori. Lola jumps onto Lori and the two begin fighting. After Lincoln ends the call, he meets with the rest of the group.
"Should we go back up to the surface?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah; I'm getting hungry." replied Simon.
"Training Pokemon really builds up an appetite." said Clyde.
"Wait, dudes; my Aipom evolved." said Luna. She takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing her recently evolved Aipom. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at the newly-evolved Aipom.
"Ambipom, the Long Tail Pokemon, and the evolved form of Aipom. They work in large colonies and make rings by linking their tails, apparently in friendship." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Congratulations, Lunes." said Sam, hugging Luna and nuzzling her cheek, making her smile. After returning Ambipom to her pokeball, the group walks to a ladder; the boys go up first as to avoid looking up the girls' skirts, followed by the girls.
Moments later, the group were in the cafeteria, having dinner while their Pokemon were being treated. After they finished, they showered and brushed their teeth; after that, the boys went to a sleeping room while the girls went to another one to rest for the next day.
It was another day in the Grand Underground for Lincoln and the rest of the group. What else awaits them as their Sinnoh adventure continues.
Meanwhile, at the Loud house, Lola was on Lori with her arms around her head while she was stumbling around, holding the big pearl far from her.
"Give me that pearl!" shouts Lola.
"Never!" replied Lori.
