Flower for Flabebe
After his victory at the Santalune Gym, and earning the Bug Badge; Lincoln and his friends head back to the Pokemon Center to drop off his Pokemon. As Lincoln waits for his Pokemon to be treated, he tries to figure out his next stop.
"Where are you gonna go now, Lincoln?" Tierno asked.
"I think the next gym is back in Lumiose City." said Lincoln.
"Are you going to challenge that gym next?" asked Serena.
"Sure." said Lincoln. "I can also stop by Professor Sycamore's lab and tell him about everything I've done since I last saw him yesterday."
"I wouldn't mind seeing Professor Sycamore's lab." said Trevor.
"When I get my Pokemon back, we'll all started heading for Lumiose City." said Lincoln.
"Okay." said Shauna.
Half an hour later, Lincoln gets his Pokemon back, and the group exits the Pokemon Center; they then head leave Santalune City through the north gate and step out onto Route 4.
"I can't wait to see what kind of Pokemon are here." said Lincoln.
"Look at all the flowers around here." said Serena as she notices flowers of all sorts of colors spread out through the landscape.
"I want to check out the hedge mazes." said Shauna as she runs off towards one.
"We're gonna look around for a bit." said Trevor as he heads off somewhere while Serena goes in another direction.
"Let's see what we got around here." said Lincoln as he starts to explore the area. He stops to look at some of the flowers that Serena pointed out earlier.
'Wish my family was here to see this.' Lincoln thinks to himself. Some movement catches his eye; he looks to see a small, green, rosebud-like Pokemon with two small vines wrapped around each other, coming out of the top of it. Lincoln takes out his pokedex, and points it at the Pokemon to see what it was.
"Budew, the Bud Pokemon. When it feels the sun's warm touch, it opens its bud to release pollen. It lives alongside clear pools." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Maybe I'll catch it, just so I can add more information to my pokedex." said Lincoln as he takes out his Zigzagoon's pokeball and lets him out of it; Budew sees this and stares down Lincoln's Pokemon.
"Okay, Zigzagoon, use Headbutt!" said Lincoln. His Zigzagoon runs at the Budew and rams it with his head, knocking it back; the Budew responds by releasing a stream of green energy from its head vines that hits Zigzagoon, seeming to siphon energy from him that seems to heal Budew a bit. "Zigzagoon, try using Tackle!" His Zigzagoon runs at the Budew and tackles it to the ground. Lincoln quickly takes an empty pokeball out of his backpack and tosses it at the Budew, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Woohoo! I caught Budew!" said Lincoln. As his new Budew's pokeball is sent to storage, he looks it up on his pokedex. "This says my Budew's a girl, she knows Absorb, Growth, and Water Sport; she has the Natural Cure ability which cures her of status conditions when she's returned to her pokeball during battle."
Lincoln then notices that his Zigzagoon had a Great Ball in his mouth and bends down to get it.
"Your Pickup ability really will come in handy on the road, buddy." Lincoln says as he takes the Great Ball out of Zigzagoon's mouth. Suddenly, Lincoln feels something land on his head and grabs a strand of hair that was standing on end, startling him.
"What's going on?!" Lincoln asked as he quickly felt around the top of his head until his hand touches something small; he grabs it and gently pulls it off, revealing it was a small Pokemon with a white upper body and small arms, and green lower body with a small tail and no legs; it had long notched ears, a small pointed nose, and a yellow garland made of pollen on the top of its head. He points his pokedex at the Pokemon in his hand.
"Flabebe, the Single Bloom Pokemon. It draws out and controls the hidden power of flowers. The flower Flabébé holds is most likely part of its body." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Hi, Flabebe." Lincoln says to the Pokemon, making it do a head tilt. "Why are you grabbing my hair?" The Flabebe looks down at the flowers around them. "Do you want a flower?" He picks a red one and holds it out to Flabebe who just looks away from it with a look of disinterest.
"What's wrong with this one?" asked Lincoln.
"Must not be the color she wants." a male voice says from nearby, making Lincoln look to see an elderly man, wearing a green smock over dark beige coveralls, brown boots, and holding a hedge trimmer.
"Hi." said Lincoln. "How did you know this Flabebe's a girl?"
"There are only female Flabebes." the man answered.
"What did you mean that the flower isn't the right color?" asked Lincoln.
"You can't expect a Flabebe to just pick any old flower." said the man. "Each one has a preference to a specific color of one."
"How do I find out what color of flower this Flabebe wants?" asked Lincoln.
"Well, since that Flabebe grabbed your hair, she must want a white one." said the man.
"Do you think there's one around here?" asked Lincoln.
"Maybe; but that's a hard one to find." said the man. Lincoln looks at the Flabebe who looked a little depressed at the fact.
"Well, I'm gonna try to find one for her anyway." said Lincoln.
"Best of luck with that." said the man as he starts trimming a nearby hedge maze.
"Okay, Flabebe, I'm gonna help you find a white flower." said Lincoln. Flabebe floats around with delight before landing on the top of Lincoln's head. "If you want to ride on my head while we look, then that's fine."
As Lincoln begins his search, in another part of Route 4, Shauna was looking around for some Pokemon when she comes across one that looked like a pink cat with cream-colored face and underbelly, along with a skinny tail with a thick pink section on the end of it.
"It's so cute!" said Shauna as she uses her pokedex to see what the Pokemon was.
"Skitty, the Kitten Pokemon. It can't stop itself from chasing moving things, and it runs in a circle, chasing its own tail." said Shauna's pokedex.
"I'm definitely catching this one!" said Shauna as she lets out her Bunnelby. "Okay, Bunnelby, use Quick Attack!" Her Bunnelby quickly moves at the Skitty and rams it; the Skitty flutters its eyes, making Bunnelby blush while his eyes turn into hearts. "What's wrong with you, Bunnelby?" The Skitty runs at Bunnelby and rams him.
"Bunnelby, hurry and use Double Slap!" said Shauna. But Bunnelby turns towards Shauna and shakes his head in refusal. "Why not?" She then notices the blush on her Pokemon's face and figured out why. "You have a crush on Skitty?" Her Bunnelby shyly looks away and nods. "Well, I don't want you to hurt a Pokemon you're in love with."
She returns her Bunnelby to his pokeball, then she lets out her Caterpie.
"Caterpie, use Tackle!" said Shauna. Her Caterpie crawls quickly at the Skitty and rams it. The Skitty moves at Caterpie and rams her. "Caterpie, use another Tackle!" Her Caterpie hits the Skitty with another Tackle, knocking it back. Shauna quickly takes an empty pokeball out of her pocket and tosses it at the Skitty, hitting it, and sucking it it; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught Skitty!" said Shauna. She uses her pokedex to look up her new Pokemon's information. "This says that my Skitty's a girl, she knows Fake Out, Growl, Tail Whip, Tackle, Foresight, and Attract; she has the Cute Charm ability which has a chance of making a Pokemon, that's the opposite gender,hits her with a physical attack fall in love with her. Well, that explains what happened to Bunnelby."
As Shauna's Caterpie lets out a sigh, she freezes up and starts to glow.
"Caterpie, you're evolving!" said Shauna. She watches as Caterpie sprays thread out of its mouth and covers her body with it; when she was done, she was encased in a green cocoon. Shauna takes out her pokedex and points it at her newly evolved Pokemon.
"Metapod, the Cocoon Pokemon, and the evolved form of Caterpie. A steel-hard shell protects its tender body. It quietly endures hardships while awaiting evolution." said Shauna's pokedex.
"And this says you learned Harden, and you have the Shed Skin ability now, which could cure you of status conditions." said Shauna.
Back with Lincoln, he was continuing searching for a white flower for Flabebe while she was riding on Lincoln's head.
"Man; trying to find a white flower among hundreds is like trying to find something in Flip's store that hasn't passed its expiration date." said Lincoln. Suddenly, Flabebe flies off Lincoln's head and off towards something.
"What's wrong, Flabebe?" asked Lincoln. He sees Flabebe heading to a small hill; when he walks closer to it, he spots what Flabebe was looking for; a white flower.
"There's one!" said Lincoln. As Flabebe approached the flower, some buzzing noises get her attention; all of a sudden, several Beedrills pop up from behind the hill and point their stingers at her.
"That's not good." said Lincoln. "Flabebe doesn't have any advantages over those Beedrills." Lincoln quickly takes out his Fennekin and Dunsparce's pokeballs, and let the two out of them, getting the Beedrills' attention.
"Dunsparce, use Rollout!" said Lincoln. His Dunsparce tucks himself into a ball and rolls forward, slamming into a couple of Beedrills, dealing super effective damage. "Fennekin, use Flame Charge!" His Fennekin runs headlong towards a Beedrill while her body was coated in fire and slams into it, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
The rest of the Beedrills, seeing their comrades defeated, decide to fly off in retreat.
"Well, that takes care of them." said Lincoln. His Fennekin lets out a sigh of relief before she suddenly freezes up and starts to glow. "Hey! You're evolving, Fennekin!" He watches as his Fennekin starts to change; when she was done, she was bigger, stood on two black legs, the tufts of fur coming out of her ears were longer, the fur around her waist was longer and looked like a skirt, and she had a stick coming out of her tail. Lincoln takes his pokedex out of his pocket and points it at his newly evolved Fennekin.
"Braixen, the Fox Pokemon, and the evolved form of Fennekin. It has a twig stuck in its tail. With friction from its tail fur, it sets the twig on fire and launches into battle." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Awesome!" said Lincoln. He returns his Pokemon to their pokeballs, walks up the hill, picks the white flower, and holds it out to Flabebe.
"Here you go." said Lincoln. Flabebe flies around with delight before grabbing the flower out of Lincoln's hand. "Glad you got what you were looking for, Flabebe."
"Hey, Lincoln!" Tierno's voice calls out, making Lincoln look to see his friends running over to him.
"Hi, everybody." said Lincoln. Shauna then notices the Flabebe floating next to him
"What a cute Flabebe!" said Shauna with delight. Lincoln then tells his friends about how he helped Flabebe find the flower she was holding right now.
"That was nice of you." said Serena.
"I'm certain that Flabebe appreciated it." said Trevor.
"And I think it's awesome that your Fennekin evolved." said Tierno.
"Thanks, everyone." said Lincoln.
"Shall we get going?" asked Serena.
"Yeah; see ya later, Flabebe." said Lincoln before he and his friends started to continue on towards Lumiose City.
As they walked, something zipped around them very quickly and stops in front of Lincoln, making everyone look to see Flabebe floating next to Lincoln's face while nuzzling his cheek.
"It's Flabebe." said Trevor.
"Why is she following us?" asked Serena.
"I think she's following Lincoln." said Shauna with a laugh.
"I think she wants to come along with you, Linc." said Trevor.
"Really?" Lincoln replied, making Flabebe smile and nod. Lincoln takes out an empty pokeball and holds it to out to Flabebe who taps the button on it, making it grow, then a second time, making the pokeball suck her in; the pokeball only wiggles once before clicking.
"That was easy." said Tierno. Flabebe's pokeball vanishes and gets transported to storage. Lincoln looks up his new Flabebe's information.
"Okay, I already know all Flabebes are female." said Lincoln. "Mine knows Tackle, Vine Whip, and Fairy Wind; she has the Flower Veil ability which protects grass type Pokemon she's with from having their stats lowered." Lincoln puts his pokedex away and he and his friends continue their way to Lumiose City.
Lincoln has helped a Flabebe find a flower she desired and gained a new Pokemon. What else awaits Lincoln and his friends as their Kalos adventure continues?
