Chapter 59- Callie

It was starting to get dark, and we were still in the cornfield. "I don't know what to do" I say sitting down in the dirt. I was tired, hungry and I missed Arizona.

"we need to keep going, now that it's dark, we can see lights if a car comes" Aria says

"it's no use" I sigh, this is bad, the only thing that would make this worse was if it started raining. As if god was trying to make me regret believing in him, the sky lets loose and we're now soaked, and muddy. "come on" mom says reaching for my hand "we'll eventually get to a road"

"we should have found one already" Addison says

"we will, come on" mom says the rain was coming down harder now, but that didn't stop her. We had to be a good mile or 2 away from George now, but I'm sure he's still looking for us. Just when I was about to lose all hope, I hear mom say "I found a road" we all hurry and see it's a black top road. "Lucia let me see your phone" Addison says pulling up the map again. "ok" she says turning around in a circle "we need to go this way" she says shutting the phone off and handing it back to my mom. Trusting the redhead, we follow her, it wasn't long before we hear a car coming up behind us. Aria jumping out in front of it to get them to stop, when they do and older man rolls down the window "young lady I almost hit you"

"that's fine, listen, we were kidnapped by a man who I'm positive is looking for us, can you give us a ride to town?"

"kidnapped? Aren't you adults" the man says, looking at his wife who hits him. I hear the door locks open "get in" she says. Once inside the car, and out of the rain, even though we were squashed in the back seat I let out a sigh of relief. It wasn't long before mom's phone started to ping, and I let out another sigh of relief knowing we were back in service area, but I didn't have my phone, and I highly doubt Aria or Addison had theirs. Just a few more minutes, and we were pulling into a gas station. "is there somewhere we can take you?"

"what town is this?" I ask looking around I didn't recognize where we were.

"Morristown" hearing that I let out a sigh, we went the wrong direction, but that's ok, mom had service now. "I think we can handle it from here" mom says "thank you so much for the ride" she motions for us to get out "I'm sorry about the mud" she says looking at the floor of the car.

"no worries, just be safe" I hear the lady say before mom shut the door. Messing around with her phone "dammit" she says frantically hitting the buttons.

"what now" Aria asks

"it died"

"of course it did" I sigh and walk over to the door to the store, the bell chimes as I enter "excuse me, is there a phone I can use?" I ask the cashier, who gave me a dirty look then rolled her eyes. "pay phone outside, if it still works"

"can I use the store phone"

"why?" she asks,

"well I lost my cell, and my mom's died"

"payphone" she says pointing to the payphone across the parking lot. I remember from when I was a teenager they had put these out here for people who were in their car to use. Rolling my eyes I walk out and over to the phone, after picking it up, I slam it back down. Of course it didn't work. "relax Calliope, I'll just buy a charger" mom says heading into the store. She comes back a few minutes later with a charger looking around to find a place to plug it in. "I don't need much, just enough to get a call out" she says. The lights inside the store had turned off, I let out a sigh, I'm not sure what time it is but my guess would be it's getting late. I can hear mom on the phone "great, we are in Morristown, at the gas station" she says "thanks" and hangs up. I look at her "who did you call?"

"Mark"

"why Mark?"

"first person I thought of?" she shrugs

"give it to me" I say reaching for the phone, typing in the land line number I hear it ring "Robbins kennel" I hear Arizona's voice on the other end "Arizona" I breathe out

"Calliope" she says in a low tone

"it's so good to hear your voice"

"what do you want?" the tone in her voice was something I have never heard, well maybe in the beginning when we were both fighting our feelings, but not since, and it had me confused, "huh?" I manage to get out, when I hear "you didn't show up, you ran, why are you calling" I couldn't get any more out when the line went dead. "dammit" I say, wanting to throw the phone but it wasn't mine to break. I already had to buy myself a new one. Mom takes it from me so I didn't break it, and slides it back into her purse. "Mark is on his way, we can explain everything once we're home"

"she hates me" I say

"she doesn't hate you" Aria says "she just doesn't know what happened yet, as soon as we explain you two can get married as planned"

"it's too late, she hates me" I start to cry, I feel an arm around me "shh" Addison says "it'll all work out" she adds as a car pulls in headlights eliminating us. "see Mark is already here" she adds, I look up. "that's not Mark" I say

"I thought I'd find you guys here" George says getting out of the car. "although I don't know how you made it this far dressed like that"

"we got a ride" Aria says

"Aria" mom says to shut her up.

"come on Mark" I whisper, wishing my friend would hurry up. As luck would have it another car pulls in and up to the pump. George was quiet while the man pumped his gas, giving us a nod when he was done and drives off. Hopefully that gave Mark enough time to get here before this asshole tries anything else. "Calliope" George says. I cringe at his use of my full name "you ran"

"why wouldn't I run?" I say "I told you I don't want you"

"and I told you, you're mine" he says

"no" I shake my head "I'm Arizona's"

"like she'd take you now that you've ran off from your wedding"

"you don't know Arizona" Aria says

"oh shut up" he growls, then looks at me "Calliope, you're not gay, I have proof of that" he says "you like this too much" he says reaching down and cupping his junk. I close my eyes and pray that Mark will show up any moment. Taking a deep breath "no George, I just did that to make you happy, I didn't enjoy it at all"

"and I suppose Arizona gives you what you want?"

"Arizona gives me everything I want and more. She's more of a man than you are" I hit a nerve, I knew it, as George stepped away from the car and came after me. When out of nowhere something hit him in the head. When I look over Addison is holding a 2x4 and drops it to the ground. As a set of head lights pulls in, and stops in front of us, I let out a breath as I see Mark get out. "what happened here?" he asked seeing George on the ground.

"you have your phone?" mom asks, Mark nods, "might want to call 911 for him"

"and for us, I sure as hell want to press charges" Addison says, Mark nods, and makes the call. Once Mark was off the phone he looked at us "why don't you guys get in the car and warm up, I'll keep an eye on this dirt bag" not arguing I opened the door to the back seat and climbed in. My mom took the front and Aria and Addison followed my lead, but getting in on the other side. "we should try calling the house again"

"why? Arizona already thinks I ran" I say

"she doesn't think that" Aria says

"she does she said it to me" I say then my moms voice is heard "Daniel, it's Lucia" I couldn't tell what was being said "no, no, she didn't run, we were taken, the limo driver was Callie's ex George, he took us to some farm in the middle of nowhere" she must have hit the speaker button "oh my god, I knew something wasn't right" Daniel's voice came through "are you guys alright?"

"I think so, we managed to get away, but he found us"

"where are you?" Daniel asks,

"Morristown, at the gas station, Mark is here to get us, he's called the police, they're on the way"

"so are we" he says and the line goes dead. Mom looks up at me "they're on the way" she says, looking at me. I see her take a deep breath, then meeting my eyes she says "Calliope, Arizona loves you, and you'll get through this" I'm not sure if I believe her or not, but I nod, with tears in my eyes.
