Chapter 60- Daniel

When the phone rang, I already knew who it was, it was too late for it to be anyone else. After hanging up the phone, I turned to Carlos, who was sitting at the table, still in his tux. He had told me several times throughout the day that he knew something was wrong, and wouldn't leave until we heard from one of them. "that was Lucia" I say looking at him

"is she ok? Are the girls ok?" he asked his concern visible

"they seem to be, they're at the gas station in Morristown" he starts to stand "I'll get the kids" I said moving to the stairs, Zo had come back after Alex had found her and got her to come back to the house. "Arizona" I called up the stairs, knowing using her full name would get her attention "what?" I heard her call back.

"Lucia just called, come on"

"Lucia called" Alex said almost falling down the stairs "are they ok?" he asks once he rights himself

"I'm not sure, but we gotta go"

"right" he says and runs out the door, I could hear the screen door slam behind him.

"Sofia" I called, even though she was 13 I didn't feel comfortable leaving her here alone

"I'm ready" Sofia says running down the stairs, Zo was the only one who wasn't ready, I take a deep breath "Arizona get your ass down here and let's go" I don't often use that tone with her, but I knew the girls needed us, and Callie loves her. By the time Zo was ready Alex had the SUV pulled up to the door and we all jumped in. Me driving, and Carlos riding shot gun, as I drove I glanced over at him, my heart almost skipping a beat. He reached over, and took my hand, I should be the one consoling him, it was his family that was missing, so I squeeze his hand and drive as fast as I can. Luckily, I have lived in this area my whole life and knew the back roads where I could go as fast as I want. It wasn't long before we were pulling into the gas station, Callie jumping out of what I assume was Mark's car, once I stopped the car I looked back at Zo "go" she didn't say anything but jumped out of the car. I didn't realize Carlos and I were still holding hands. Sofia jumped out next, Alex following. Leaving Carlos and I alone, I hear him let out a sigh, or maybe he was taking a deep breath. "thank you Danny" it still through me off hearing someone call me Danny. I squeezed his hand "you don't have to thank me, they are my family too" Carlos turned to look at me, it was dark in the car, but I could see the unshed tears in his eyes. "do you" he cleared his throat, "once we are back at the house, do you think you and I could talk"

"I'd like that" I give him a small smile, squeezing his hand once more, we both climb out. Aria leaving Alex's arms and running into his, Callie did the same, but then ran to me. The gas station was now eliminated by the blue and red lights of the local cops and sheriffs department. George, I'm guessing that's who it was on the ground, was being tended to by the paramedics. Looking over I see he's awake, and there was an officer with his handcuffs out ready to cuff him. What happened next all happened in a blur, I was watching as he was being pulled up, and the next thing I know, a loud gun shot was heard and Aria was on the ground bleeding. "you bastard" Carlos screamed and went after him, being held back by a deputy, as the paramedics went to tend to Aria. "no let me go" Carlos screamed at the officer who was holding him. What a shit show this is turning out to be. Not knowing what to do, the officer's had managed to cuff George and he was in the back of a car now. Looking over, Zo had Callie in her arms, while Addison had Lucia, the officer had let Carlos go, he was standing next to the girls watching. Alex, I've never seen him like this, he was frantic, so I went to him, pulling him in. "she'll be alright"

"I'll kill that fucker" Alex says into my shoulder, as they loaded Aria into the ambulance, I find Mark, he was still in his suit from the wedding that didn't happen "thank you" I say to him reaching out my hand for him to shake.

"you don't have to thank me Mr. Robbins, Callie is family, and family sticks together" I nod as he takes my hand.

"dad let's go" Zo says as the ambulance pulls out, sirens blaring.

"Lucia, you want to ride with me?" Mark asks as he opens the door to his car, I didn't hear Lucia say anything but she got into his passenger seat, as the rest pile into the SUV, Alex and Callie a mess. After Carlos shut the front door I look at him "my family is falling apart" he says, giving him a sad smile I put the SUV in gear and pull out, following the flashing lights of the ambulance, and Mark. I feel Carlos take my hand again, as we drive in silence, outside of the occasional sniffles coming from the back, I wasn't sure if it was Alex or Callie. Squeezing Carlos's hand, I follow the flashing lights.
