I drove as fast as I could to the junkyard, and when we arrived, Chloe and I jumped out and raced to the spot from the picture. "Chloe! Aiden! Slow down!" Max shouted, trying to catch up with us.
"We know where we're going!" Chloe yelled back as she pointed to the area. I felt a rush of excitement as we sprinted. "Look! It's right here!" I exclaimed, dropping to my knees and starting to dig. Chloe quickly joined me, both of us digging frantically.
Max helped us until we uncovered a blue tarp. "No… please… not again…" I gasped, feeling panic rise in my chest. As we dug deeper, a terrible smell wafted from the hole. "No…" I cried, tears streaming down my face.
"Rachel… Oh, Rachel, no! Please not her!" Chloe cried, stepping back as she felt sick. Max and I crawled over to comfort her as she sobbed harder than I had ever heard. "Rachel… why?!" Chloe wailed, curling up and hiding her face in her knees.
I held her tightly, feeling my own tears fall. "I'm so sorry, you guys…" Max said, her voice shaky as she hugged us.
"How can she be gone? What kind of world does this? Who does this?" I cried, my heart racing. I realized just how much I loved Rachel, and I knew Chloe felt the same way.
I promised myself that the next time I saw Prescott, I would break his neck.
