BONUS CHAPTER.
HEREAFTER by Beskov01 , Rosa_ Cotton.
First half happens somewhere in ch 41-42
...
...
The tragedy unfolded at La's castle where the tribesmen of Wakandian Waziri came to protect Tarzan's tribe.
It was loud outside already.
Amidst the raging rain, when water's mounting, when trees break, when even strong rooted rocks began rolling...
One would assume nobody of sane mind would start a bloody brawl in an old castle that could collapse in ruin.
An unexpected entry of old enemies also happened.
There are times when a man must stand his ground and fight.
Armed hunters were there, hidden and ready yo capture or kill anyone who's close by.
Naoh - I don't understand... how could we not see it? We've searched the area before going in.
Basuli rubs his leg which had two shots in it now thanks to the poachers.
Basuli – Does it look like we did ? Not good enough.
And unfortunately, there are losses and fatalities.
Chief Keewazi was now gone...
Basuli's heart roared.
Nah tries to comfort him.
"I'm very sorry for your father, Basuli"
Basuli – Me too... But... He left his life fighting for us... as did those who accompanied him.
As a new Chief of Wakandian Waziri tribe, he now held responsibility to protect what they have left now. Well, not ALL of them.
Basuli – Muviro was there... he betrayed me but I didn't expect he'd betray our people.
He helped capture many.
Naoh – Not just you. But how could he help the hunters.
But perhaps he wasn't the main one.
Basuli – Then again it might not be him that's in charge. What about that sorcerer that was with them.
It was hard to see who it was but green coloured energies emitted from the figure.
The wizard who sent giant rock monsters against them and Kala's tribe.
Gorillas tried to fight and aid them in the fight...
It had a sad end...
It'll weighs heavily on them.
Many of the gorillas were harmed, if not dead.
Some perhaps taken captive.
Can't imagine that'll be done to them in slavery.
Both tribes had losses.
Naoh – What of the remaining apes?
Given what happened and what an arson took place, they're probably scattered across the jungle.
And in this weather...
The Boat goes up the river as well as down.
Basuli – I'll try to look for them soon...
He'll have to find them a shelter too.
It's getting more dangerous around Africa with each year.
It hurt her to say the following.
Naoh – We gave Tarzan our word... and we have failed.
Basuli – And I... will have to be the one to tell him when he'll be back...
Naoh – You believe Kala made it?
Basuli – I don't know... I wish I did...
May guardian Te Fiti guide her soul into the good place...
...
...
It hurt...
Both on her body and her heart.
She was shot in her hand and her belly.
There was blood leaking out of her... she was still running as she could.
Her yells of pain as well as gunshots were loud and clear.
They are chasing her, instincts telling her to keep going even though it hurt.
The rain made it difficult for her to see where she's going and the wind was growing.
The mud was getting on her face as she then fell down the shore.
Hitting a few rocks on her way down.
She pushed herself up slowly.
The sea waves hitting nearby rocks made her hasten to a nearby cave.
"Where did she go?"
"Don't know... hey think that animal fell into sea?"
"Blood trail goes there... heh think monkeys can swim?"
"Unlikely, it's as good as dead... very well, we already got enough of them for ransom"
They've since then been quiet.
Probably they've left...
And alone, she was there for who knows how long...
Remembering everything that happened drove her to tears...
Many of her family...
She didn't want to finish the thought.
Neither she had to.
The bleeding continues...
Flynt and Mungo killed...
Terk and Gobu beaten and dragged away...
Fire broke out...
It was all too much.
It was over.
Their family...
Looking out of cave, she gets a glimpse of the tree house in a distance.
It only ached her heart more...
When they'll be back...
And they won't find her and the others?
What will they feel?
Tarzan will be devastated.
He already lost his family once...
She allowed him to leave and find it again...
And now he'll see that he lost another again.
"My boy... I'm sorry... I really am..."
She lost her first child...
Lost Kerchak...
And now... it's her own turn.
Something within tries to prepare her for the inevitable that was approaching.
"...Kaaalaaa..."
Her mind was distracted by a voice...
She could swear a wind was calling her name.
She struggled to move so she just looked at the sea
"...Kaaalaaa..."
Kala tries seeing if there was anyone drawing in the waters...
She's not sure she'll be able to help them...
Then it seems she's not leaving alone.
But then she saw... a person of water.
A human was coming from the waves before stumbling on the sand near her cave.
"KAAALAAA!"
If she didnt lose so much blood, she'd try to run away...
She never seem anything like this.
The sea was calling to her.
The person crawled closer to her...
She seemed familiar.
"It... can it be..."
An old memory resurfaces as she remembered her.
She never forgotten the faces of his parents.
"You're... his mother..."
The figure struggled to crawl.
"... I... I am... IDUUUNAA... I caMe to HeLp you..."
Perhaps since she's at death's door, she's probably seeing souls of those long gone...
But then why her?
Kala mustered up what she had to respond
"If you came to thank me ... Just know I did what any... mother *coughs* would've done... I'm sorry that you never saw it... Iduna"
Her form was weakening.
"And I'm SoRRy that YOu've losT so much... Gaah..."
Iduna didn't want anybody else to feel what she did when she lost her village so long ago...
'We're all just children of the woods... but in some people are greed and demons speak louder...'
"I... Can't talk for long... my soul...may never... return to this land..."
She looks like she's convulsing in pain
"I'm...just here to try and... help. I do thank you for everything you've done for him... what I couldn't do..."
She was teary... she wishes she was there for him at that time...
Kala – I understand... I lost my own child... But I loved Tarzan... still I may not..*coughs*... see him anymore.
"Iduna" tries crawl closer to her
"That's why... I'm here..."
Kapa starts to feel cold... her body was growing numb.
eerie whistling*
Kala was close to her last breath
"I will take you... to Kerchak..."
Kala figured she'd hear that
"Just tell me... will I see my baby Korak... my parents?"
Iduna mustered a smile
"Yes... no one... will harm you there"
Kala was glad but... "But Tarzan...Jane... Professor..."
Iduna looks down for a moment, sharing that worry.
"One day... they'll join us there. Someday soon we'll see them again on the Road of Remembrance... all of us go to the final world... time for you now"
Kala looks at the tree house for one last time. Remembering her life growing up.
From her childhood, her hands caressing her father's.
Her growing up, meeting Kerchak.
To seeing her baby Korak following a chameleon...
To watching Tarzan playing with Terk and Tantor...
His wedding with Jane...
To now with Iduna...
"Please... it's time to go..."
She didn't know if it's Iduna or someone else but its true.
It is time.
Her hand slowly lifts it up to take her hand as she takes her final breath.
But Kala weirdly didnt feel dead...
Then again she sometimes wondered how it is...
Now she feels a bit easier...
Her body wasn't weighing heavy on her anymore.
"It is easier now for it's over..."
She looked to see Iduna in her form, in clear view now.
Not clawed to death... or drowning in the ocean.
Tall like Jane, also in similar clothes like on those pictures.
Kala "Something's different..."
Iduna - Let's just say that death isn't the end
Then there's a new voice
"Si, monami"
This time not a human in water...
But a wolf in robes...
A tall... red eyed... silver coloured... Wolf.
Kala – Who... are you?
"I'll tell you on our way, mi querida Kala... you'll have much to say soon. Let's go now"
Iduna holds her hand and with Wolf's arm on her shoulder... she's led now to her family in Road of Remembrance, Jannah.
...
Years later
...
"Hahaha I'll still catch you"
Baby Jakayla was running on his fours as her mother Terk is seen catching and cuddling her.
"Butterflies sure attract but let's play closely here"
Terk kicked her chest with thr baby trying to mimic her.
Jakayla was rather clumsy but it'll take time to learn.
"Well , no problem. You'll learn that, AND how to climb in no time"
Life around the jungles been different.
Afternoon what happened to Kala, and also in the world's north where Tarzan... yeah... it made her tense to remember that.
Jungles we're more dangerous for them now...
The king of the jungle now joined Mangani in other realm.
They don't seem as afraid anymore so they should be ready for anything.
Still after what happened Sora and that duck did bring them back... made sure it was close to where Moyo and surviving members were at.
Perhaps they knew about the castle massacre...
Like she said it was a painful experience.
They had to move somewhere far, to hide.
Terk had an idea. She didn't like it either but had little options.
She suggested parts of jungle where old ape Zugor lived with his own tribe.
It worked out in the end luckily.
Still Muyo considers to eventually approach Waziri as well.
Maybe this'll be a beginning of new neighbourhood.
Gubo is the seeing approaching them
"Hey how's my daredevil and my little monk?"
Jakayla ran up to her papa, then on his shoulder and hugging his face.
Gubo picked Jakayla up, holding him upside down.
Gubo then held her in his arms with Jakayla yawning.
Terk – Been tiring for some really.
Gubo – Well, at least it's getting safer... for now, at least.
Terk – Is it easier though with those two?
Gubo – Uto and Kago can be helpful, although at times slow. Luckily no hunters for month or two we've found so far...
Terk – Good, and they better stay out.
A wishful thinking for her, since amount of humans coming to Africa may surge again...
Speaking of humans, Terk did not see that one Dumon or how was his name? Wonders how it's going at his place.
Terk – Did Moyo made up his mind?
Gobu – He has his doubts... but yeah he still thinks Waziri will help. He heard Tarzan telling him about them. They were trustworthy people... speaking of that, did Tantor visit?
Terk – Oh yeah. Tantor's been visiting , he gives a good lullaby by the way.
It's good to see friends from time to time.
Gobu – It's not the same without them right? Not just Tarzan. Wish they could be here too.
Terk – Wishes don't always work. Sometimes you just gotta love what you had... and cherish what you have.
Gobu – Looks like we changed a little too.
Terk – Not too much. Still rough enough for you... and maybe she'll be too.
Gobu – Ah think she'll have her own legend? That I'd love to see.
Even legends die, but their legacy lives on in spirit.
Terk may never know how Jane and Anna are now... but she'd like to think they are doing fine...
...
...
Meanwhile In London.
Jane Porter, now Mary Darling smiled at all the dear faces around the table, all conversing.
Enjoying tall glasses of milk and cookies.
Crumbs and chocolate were smuggled on nearly all faces.
A new joy filled her as she watched George joking and joining in on the fun with kids together.
For once, a real miracle came into Darling house : now it was Joy.
She notices one was missing.
She quietly left the room to search, the kind of motherly Anxiety filling her face.
Not for long as she finds him in his bedroom, more accurately before the open window, leaning against one of the frames.
Nana was there, giving him company.
Nana notices her and so does.
"Oh hi mother"
"Hi dear, why are you here? Did something happened?"
He looks up to distant stars "I miss that place"
Mary didn't understand.
"I never did say goodbye to her... we just left so fast"
Mary was surprised for two reasons.
One that her son was attached to someone like that at such a young age...
And second, more of a question.
Is she real or in imagination?
Mary – And where was she?
He sighs sadly "We were in Neverland... I didn't had enough time..."
When she looks up at the stars, different memories return to her.
One of her childhood, where she thought she saw an elf flying in the air.
Then of a person she once loved as Jane.
She didn't think it's possible but after witnessing everything she had all those years ago, and not too long ago with that ship amongst the clouds in the sky...
Anything is possible...
She can understand how it feels for him.
Never to say goodbye to one now out of reach.
"I understand John, and I'm sorry"
John looks at her and she was sincere.
He then hugged her, she did too and Nana leaned on his back
"Mom, have you also? Before meeting dad?"
Mary/Jane – I have... once, a long time ago. Your grandfather too, maybe you'd like to hear his story?...
John – Of course! What was grandfather like?
Mary/Jane – As brilliant as you, but even then he had much to learn...
A certain boy who never grows up was listening in to her story.
That happened before, and it will happen again.
