Here it is, the 159th full chapter of Miraculous Quirks released on schedule. Plans are in motion, meetings have occurred, and now it's time for a few small last minute things and some intense training. One of those things is support gear be it new items or repairing broken ones and that's vital so Adrien is off to get that sorted out while Marinette returns to the dorm to sort out the kwamis. A simple task before training resumes, what could possibly happen? Well let's see as that is all the administrative stuff that I have for you, however, and there are no guest reviews that can be responded to or questions to answer so I will end this note here. Do keep the reviews coming as I enjoy hearing from y'all. That is all I have for this pre chapter note so that means that it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the 156th full chapter of Miraculous Quirks.
Disclaimer: I do not own either of these great works of fiction.
Chapter 159: Last Minute Support Gear
As soon as Marinette and Adrien left Mage's office they turned and headed down the corridor and out of the area where the teachers' offices were located without a word. They were both focused on what they had to do in the wake of their meeting and thinking on that as they walked, so much so that they also failed to notice that Momo wasn't with them, that they didn't speak until they reached a landing on the stairs where they'd have to go their separate ways. Marinette had to go down and out of the building to get back to the dorm while Adrien was remaining in as he headed to the Development Studio.
"See you back in the dorm, kitty." Marinette said as Adrien headed to the stairwell exit, his sudden departure from her side snapping her out of her thoughts on the kwamis and their decision to join the battle. "I'll be waiting, once the kwamis are sorted we should enjoy a moment for just us as we won't have many more before the battle."
"Agreed, bugaboo." Adrien said with a smile as he turned back to look at her. "I'll be back as soon as possible but you know how long it takes to get the pump hooked up and then to be fully healed so that I can get back to training."
"Yeah, you won't be ready until tonight what with all that's already happened today." Marinette said with a nod as she put her left hand on the pump that was still hooked to her utility belt. "And I'm sure my own work will take a while as there are 15 kwamis to sort out. A few are pretty clear but I'll need to cycle through Lucky Charm to confirm my suspicions there as I trust my power's nature to show me the best path forward for each kwami. I expect that it will take most of the afternoon and into the early evening."
"I'll be back by then." Adrien said. "You can debrief me on who's been paired with who then."
Marinette nodded before she stepped forward and gave him a short, sweet, chaste kiss on the lips that Adrien returned, he arm snaking around her lower back to hold her there for a moment. She smiled as she stepped back before she turned and carried on down the stairs without another word her mind refocusing on her current task.
Adrien watched Marinette leave for a moment before he turned and walked onto the floor with the Development Studio onto it and almost collided with Midoriya and Ida as they walked along the corridor having entered the building during his meeting with Mage and used the elevator to get to this level. Only Adrien's enhanced reflexes allowed him to spin around and out of the way of his friends before he fell into step next to them.
"You here for your costumes then?" Adrien asked, Midoriya was so focused that he didn't seem surprised or broke stride as he carried on so Adrien was a step behind him and next to Ida as they walked. "If I recall, Midoriya's was beat to shit when we retrieved him."
"Yeah both of our costumes are basically unwearable so after we returned to the dorm we realized that now was the best time to sort it out while there was a moment." Ida confirmed. "So we came back to visit the Development Studio while the rest of the class returns to training but we'll join them once we're done. Did you hold back here for some reason? We, er, weren't really paying attention to who returned so I apologize for not realizing you weren't with us Agreste."
"Mage wanted to discuss something that could be of use to the battle." Adrien said vaguely. "And to let me know that the pump is ready for me so when we were done with Mage I decided to head straight to the Development Studio to get it when I ran into you two. Good timing I see."
"That's good, Dupain-Cheng explained hers to me earlier and how important it will be in the coming war." Izuku said as they walked. "I have to be ready to fight any opponent at a moment's notice so in addition to my costume I have an important piece of gear that I need to get fixed if possible. I just hope that they can do it as it wasn't made by anyone here though Hatsume does know the inventor who made it."
As Izuku had been speaking they'd reached the sliding steel blast doors of the Development Studio and he stopped outside it. Ida held back and didn't stand in front of them so Adrien did the same as he stood next to Ida leaving Izuku to be the one to open them.
"And that would…" Adrien said as Izuku reached for the door slide but as Izuku grabbed it and began to slide the door open, before Adrien could finish, there was a flash of light and the door was blown outwards and off its rails.
"Well this is déjà vu." Ida muttered unphased by the explosion as Izuku was blasted back and the buckled, warped, door hit the ground showing just how powerful the explosion had been.
"This has happened before?" Adrien asked surprised. "I know this place can be dangerous, the doors alone show that, but to actually blow them out, that's something else."
"It happened the first time we came here, Uraraka was with me and we were looking to get some things for the Provisional License Exam." Ida said. "We ran into Midoriya outside the door before it exploded just like this. Back then, the culprit was…"
"Ugh, ouchies, that one actually hurt." A female voice that Adrien recognized said from within the smoke cloud that began to clear and they saw a mass of pink dreadlocks with some strange googles that had been pushed up and onto them confirming that it was indeed Mei Hatsume who had been responsible for the explosion. "Wait, I'm not on the ground, how is…oh wow that explains it, I remember this muscular feeling under me. It's been a minute since I last saw you Midoriya! How's it going? You doing alright these days?"
As the smoke cleared Ida let out a gasp at the sight before them while Adrien raised an eyebrow in amusement because Izuku was on his back on the ground with Hatsume lying on top of him. That alone would have been interesting but somehow the explosion had blasted Hatsume out in such a way that her surprisingly impressive bust was directly on Izuku's face so that she was smothering him with her boobs as she fully straddled his waist.
To top all this off, Hatsume seemed to be completely fine with the position as all she'd done was raise her head and put her right hand on the floor next to Izuku's head as she looked down to see what she'd landed on before chatting with him as if this was nothing while not bothering to actually get off him. Course, all Izuku could do was let out a muffled protest as he glared up at Hatsume above him.
Adrien decided that it would be for the best to not mention this to anyone, except maybe Marinette in private, and especially not to a certain brunette. The was because Adrien was aware, through Marinette, that Hatsume was the only girl that really set off Uraraka's jealousy when it came to her love for Midoriya so mentioning that she'd ended up straddling Midoriya and inadvertently causing him to motorboat here wasn't a good idea. As such, Adrien just picked up the warped door and moved it so that it was resting against the glass window as the last of the smoke in the corridor cleared.
As he did, Izuku did the only safe thing he felt that he could do and grabbed Hatsume's waist and picked her up and off him, using a bit of One for All to do so, and placing her on the ground next to him before he scrambled to his feet and crouched down his face bright red at what had happened. Hatsume seemed unbothered by this as well and just stood up and began to brush off her skirt revealing that she was wearing her uniform skirt in addition to her black tank top, gloves, and work pants in a rather odd style choice.
"Sorry about the door, thanks for sorting it out Agreste." Hatsume said as she continued to brush herself down while looking at them and revealing that she actually remembered his name just like she did with Midoriya which for Hatsume was rare as she usually didn't bother to remember names. "Did you three need something from me? I'm always happy to hear about your equipment requests and see what I can do about them."
"I must be really tired because Danger Sense didn't alert me to the danger." Izuku muttered as Hatsume pulled her pants up and over her skirt though Adrien's gut suspected that that Quirk didn't really work like that but said nothing about it. "I wasn't able to get out of Hatsume's way, that was way too close."
"Mineta would be jealous." Adrien said. "Probably his ideal way of dying."
"Please maintain composure, Midoriya! It's just Hatsume, nothing to be afraid of…well for the most part as you never know with her inventions." Ida said looking over at his friend and ignoring Adrien's statement before he turned back to Hatsume who was clearly unphased by all of this. "Anyway, Midoriya and I stopped by right now because we were hoping that you would have a little spare time to work on our costumes, Hatsume. Agreste is here for a different reason."
"I'm just here to pick up what was prepared." Adrien said. "I was told it was ready so I'll take it and get out of your hair as you're clearly busy Hatsume."
"Huh?" Hatsume asked her smile still there as she cocked her head to the left. "Why are you asking me and not the item agency Ida? They're usually the ones who handle those kinds of repairs seeing as they are the ones who made the costume. Agreste I get, his thing is ready inside but not you two."
"Well, um, you see, the agency that makes my costume is basically defunct now." Ida said confused at Hatsume's question because, well, it was kinda obvious that it would be given the current lawless state of the country. "Pretty much every business in this country is right now so our only real option for repairs is the Support Course."
"Oh! That's not cool!" Hatsume said crossing her arms under her bust and as she did Adrien couldn't help but note that smoke was still billowing out of the Development Studio behind Hatsume which showed just how serious the explosion she'd caused was. "That sounds like a major pain in the ass to me. Why'd they go defunct?"
"Huh?" Ida asked.
"Ah?" Hatsume asked in return her mouth open in a wide smile.
"Hold up, don't tell me that she doesn't know." Izuku muttered as he looked at the slightly insane Support Course girl his embarrassment at almost being smothered to death by Hatsume's breasts vanishing at her apparent obliviousness. "Is she totally unaware of the current state that Japan is in."
"That would appear to be the case." Adrien said as a loud coughing fit started to come from inside the Development Studio and began to approach them which got their attention. "And somehow that's not as surprising as I thought it would be coming from her."
"Hatsume!" The person coughing called out and instantly the three Hero Course students recognized it as Power Loader's and they all watched as the pro hero walked out of the smoke and into the doorway. "Can we please get through at least one day without the lab exploding? I know you usually blow things up two to three times a week, we've gotten used to that but this is way too much."
As Power Loader had been talking he'd been walking forward and now he was out of the smoke and stepped through the doorway. That was when he noticed the three Hero Course students standing there.
"Oh, Midoriya, Ida, you're here for costume repairs, right? Come on in." Power Loader said as he pointed at the three students who stared at him while Hatsume continued to have the strange surprised smile on her face next to the doorway. "Agreste, your device is ready and at Hatsume's work station, don't worry it's designed to be near indestructible and if Hatsume can't blow it up then short of something like Decay touching it, which it can't if you're Quirk is active, it should be good though I can't promise that it will work if it took more than a few direct hits from something strong."
"That's fine, I just need it to last for as long as possible in the field." Adrien said. "Between it, my mask, and all the backup cubes that I have I can last a good while which is what's important."
"Good, then come on in." Power Loader said as a fan suddenly kicked in and the smoke began to quickly clear as it was sucked away. "We'll get you sorted out as soon as possible."
Adrien, Izuku, and Ida didn't say anything as Power Loader turned around and they followed him into the Development Studio. As they did the smoke finished being cleared and all of them blinked at what they saw. The last time they'd been here it had been about the size of an average classroom with a terminal on one wall for Power Loader, benches, work stations, and an area for Hatsume's failed inventions with side rooms for testing and various other tasks. Now it looked like U.A. had knocked out a wall or two to enlarge the space, stripped out the benches, and turned it into, well they weren't sure what it was now.
Clearly it was necessary though as there was more space to work while screens with diagrams hung down from the ceiling and a few tables were out that had various bits of gear being worked on on them but there were also several machines and wires that the heroes had no clue what they were for though as they were here they had to be important. On top of all these, Hatsume's personal marks were clear by the several scorch marks on the floor in various places as well as fresh marks around the doorway.
"You've changed the look of the place I see." Ida said as the idle sounds of work filled the air from the whirring and beeping of machines to the hums of various tools being used. "It looks more like a small scale factory or warehouse than a studio."
"Given what the Principal's asked of us in the wake of Jaku we pretty much had to change this place to accommodate what he wanted." Power Loader said. "On top of that, I'm in charge of keeping the U.A. barrier up and running smoothly, along with research and development of course. With classes and matriculation or graduation suspended, I've got the entire Support Course helping me out. Seeing as they're the of the best of their generation it's actually a blessing that we've got them and any evacuees with the right credentials and who pass a background check will be welcomed as well."
"Wow, this is incredible." Izuku said his eyes wide as the trio walked through the room behind Power Loader and Adrien noted that this was the first time that he'd seen other Support Course students other than Hatsume and that odd third year who came second in the U.A. beauty pageant. "U.A. never fails to surprise me."
"I knew that the principal had some big plans in mind and needed help to implement them but this is beyond what I expected." Adrien said looking around. "But with the situation going on this makes sense, no wonder the Support Course has been so busy lately. Good on them, we'd be up shit's creek without a paddle if it wasn't for their support."
"A crude but not an inaccurate assessment." Power Loader said. "We couldn't have done this without them. Now what do you two need? I know what Agreste is here for and Hatsume will get it for him in a moment but I'm sure she'll want to help Midoriya and Ida as well."
"Well I've got these that I need fixed." Izuku said as he held out his right arm and showed a reddish brown band on his wrist that activated and formed a gauntlet that ran from his knuckles up to his biceps so only his fingertips were exposed though as he wore gloves with his costume that wouldn't be seen normally. "They're really useful but as you can see they're pretty much unusable now. They, um, got damaged over the last month or so while…"
"Woah, check these fancy new Mid-Gauntlets." Hatsume said interrupting Izuku as she suddenly bent backwards from where she'd been standing in front of Izuku and looking up at them from under his arm as she began to assess them. "I see, yes, they use the latest in compression technology. There's only one genius that I know who can make a baby like this that's as sleek, sturdy, and compact as it is useful and strong enough to be worn by a hero. Impressive that you got them from her, it's been a while since I've seen her work first hand."
"Yeah, Melissa made them a while back and has been improving them ever since the incident on I-Island last year but they're still American prototypes that only she can make so it's not like I can buy new ones right now." Izuku said trying not to remember the guinea pig incident when Melissa visited U.A. and got into a support gear showdown with Hatsume that had ended up with Izuku as the test subject for their gear to see how it worked in the USJ but the whole thing ended up with the USJ going haywire. "You've worked with Melissa before and I'm sure you're still in somewhat contact with her so if there's anyone who could fix them it's you Hatsume. Do you think you can?"
"Hmmm, let me see." Hatsume said as Izuku compressed it back to its band form and took it off and handed it to Hatsume who picked it up and looked closely at it as she held it in her hands, her exposed index fingers on the band as she studied it. "How soon would you need it? I take it that you need them soon."
"You bet." Izuku said seriously. "That's why…"
"Well then you're outta luck, sorry Midoriya." Hatsume said beaming at him before turning and hurrying away without returning the band though she did look over her shoulder at them as she walked. "These things are completely trashed and even with Melissa's designs for them, which she's not shared with me, I couldn't fix them. I'd have to make you new ones from scratch and while I can, Melissa taught me that sometimes compressed is good for a baby, I sadly have no condenium on hand right now so I can't help there. No babies for you, what a shame."
"That's fine Hatsume but why are you running away while you're saying this?" Izuku asked confused by her actions. "You never do something without reason Hatsume and usually those reasons worry me and often put me in danger as well."
"And what about my armor?" Ida asked. "Could you fix it for me? It's…"
"Nope, can't do that without blueprints and I don't got those." Hatsume said still running away. "So I can't repair it."
"Denied!" Ida said shocked.
"That is a surprise coming from her." Adrien said. "Usually she's so helpful when it comes to gear."
"Don't you worry about Hatsume, she's just really busy." A new voice said and they all turned to see a slightly tanned guy with black hair held back by a rope-like headband in a dark gray jumpsuit and a pale girl with light bluish gray hair that was wildly held back in a white t-shirt and cargo pants, both of whom were wearing thick work gloves, standing near them. "We can make you the new gear that you need. Don't worry about it."
"We're Hatsume's classmates in the Support Course." The girl, who was also the taller of the two, said as she pointed to herself. "We may not be as good or prodigious as Hatsume is but we're still U.A. students and want to help the heroes out as much as possible."
"That's extremely kind of you, thank you." Ida said formally and bowing to them. "I'm in your debt for this."
"Nah don't worry about it." The guy said. "We're happy to help you guys out."
"I have to admit that I'm surprised." Ida said turning back to look at Hatsume where she was now sitting cross legged on a stool at one of the desks that was clearly hers, her right hand tapping on a keyboard by the computer on her desk while her left furiously worked on something next to her. "A tech prodigy like her would normally jump at the chance to take on difficult projects like these. She's basically become our whole class's go to designer."
"She's actually my exclusive one, a test when she made my mask." Adrien said as Izuku walked up to Hatsume as she worked. "She was who we turned to for my stomach pump as it has to be entirely made of organic materials so that I don't accidentally destroy it when I activate Cataclysm but still sturdy enough to withstand other types of damage. Apparently she's managed that."
"Oh yeah she sorted that out a while back but didn't have the time to fully put it together until her break the other day." The girl said. "None of us knew how to make it work, though we knew the design for it as your classmate has a normal one, but that Cataclysm Quirk you've got is a real pain to work around."
"A great challenge though." The guy said as Izuku reached Hatsume and tried to look over her shoulder. "Just the kinda thing the Support Course loves to take on and next time one of us will succeed."
"Hatsume, what are you working on now?" Izuku asked interrupting their chat and getting them all to turn to Hatsume again as she continued to apparently multitask where she was. "I know you'd normally jump at this chance, especially with tech made by Melissa, so it's gotta be really important."
Hatsume didn't respond, she just pressed a button on the keyboard and then tapped the screen that it was connected to and which was held above her head on the end of a mechanical arm that probably wasn't the purpose of it but Izuku didn't question that. No, he just looked at the screen as a three dimensional model appeared on it via whatever graphing program it was using. It took him a moment to fully grasp what he was looking at as the model formed but as it did Izuku had to ask because it was beyond anything that he'd expected.
"Is that a flying shelter?" Izuku asked as it formed and in response Hatsume just gave him a thumbs up before she returned to typing as apparently words were a waste of time for her at the moment. "You've been working on making something like that?"
"Huh, that is pretty interesting." Adrien noted as he looked over the model though he barely understood it. "There's no doubt a reason for this that merits such a change otherwise the effort and expense at making it work wouldn't be worth it."
"That was an idea from the Principal so it's going to be of use, he wouldn't request it otherwise." Power Loader said as he approached them again. "Hatsume has been vital to us in this regard as we continue to look for ways to reinforce the U.A. barrier. Her specific field of expertise is coming up with new mechanisms that will help with evacuations should we need to make them from U.A. I've said this about her before but no one has unique ideas on par with hers. She's a generational talent in the Support field."
"Yeah we're her classmates and even we acknowledge it." The guy said. "We're good, we got into U.A. after all, but no one can match Hatsume."
"Course we do cause less explosions so there is that." The girl said with a chuckle. "But that's just part of Hatsume's skill, she isn't afraid of failure or the consequences of it which is part of why she's so good."
All they could really do was nod at that as they stared at Hatsume who was still smiling as she worked, nuts and bolts flying as she made something with her left hand all while still typing away with her right. They all knew how unique Hatsume's mind was, she'd been the inadvertent catalyst for Izuku developing shoot style when she'd suggested that Ida run with his arms not his legs if the latter wasn't working, so it made sense that she'd be vital in this endeavor.
"Even if an idea is currently an A one at the moment, that could change and become an A- if I don't nurture and grow it right." Hatsume said as she worked and they just continued to stare at her. "Like I always say to myself and whoever will listen to me whenever I dream up a new baby that I want to make, I've gotta raise it right!"
"Yeah, I've definitely heard her say that before." Izuku said while Hatsume's classmates nodded. "And I can't argue with the results."
"I'm not surprised though, um, the baby stuff is a bit odd." Adrien said. "That always throws me."
"I make them so they're my babies." Hatsume said simply and Adrien decided to not question Hatsume's word choice further.
"It's amazing what she does." Izuku said as he thought on it. "It's no wonder that Hatsume doesn't know what's going on outside the school. She'd entirely focused on designing, building, testing, and perfecting her new inventions. We're really lucky to have someone as dedicated and thorough her working behind the scenes to help the heroes."
"Heroes couldn't work without support." Adrien said. "It's as vital as what we do, I'm just glad we have the best around for that."
"I wouldn't say I'm the best, but I've gotten spotted by one of them when I made Agreste's mask so I need to impress him not that that's relevant at the moment and even he understands that." Hatsume said and only Adrien had a feeling he knew who she was referring to but didn't bother confirming it as Hatsume continued. "And as for you, Midoriya, don't be so close minded. You sound as dense as polyethylene."
"Huh, I don't follow." Izuku said confused. "What's polyethylene?"
"It's the most common plastic in the world." Adrien said. "And yeah you really are dense Midoriya, especially in certain areas."
"Huh?" Izuku said now completely lost but Adrien wasn't going to help him there.
"Look, it's not like I've got blinders on or something like that." Hatsume said as she continued to work. "I may get so into my work that I forget to do unnecessary things that would otherwise get in my way like eating, sleeping, and bathing."
"Unnecessary?" Ida asked. "Those are kinda…"
"I'm not oblivious to what's going on outside of the school, I'm full aware of the messed-up situation that you heroes are currently dealing with out there." Hatsume continued completely ignoring Ida's question and causing them all to gasp as until now she'd really not shown that she was aware of the current state of the country. "We're not fighters down here but we can help all the same. We do so by pouring so many hours into our innovations and designs so that they work as well as possible and can be used by the heroes to help them out and ensure that they can do what they're best at just as we're doing what we're best at. We're trying to protect people as well but with our skills."
"True." Her classmates said nodding at Hatsume's words.
"Because at heart, we all have the same goals, it's why we do what we do." Hatsume said so focused on her explanation that she didn't hear anything else being said before she turned her head back and looked at Midoriya, a wrench in her left hand that she touched to her cheek while her classmates slipped off to find their measuring tape so that they could help out the heroes when Hatsume was done explaining things. "These inventions that we make, our babies, they're how the Support Course does our own 'hero work'!"
"I get it, I'm sorry." Izuku said stepping forward. "Hatsume, you really are a…"
Izuku didn't finish what he was saying because suddenly a pair of gloves with gauntlets attached to them flew back at him and hit him squarely in the face before he'd taken more than a step towards Hatsume. The force was such that it caved in his face in a comical way as it shut him up.
"So yeah, while I couldn't make the exact same gauntlets that Melissa could, that girl's got a talent for this compressed stuff that I just can't replicate, though my style is different to hers regardless, I can still do something to help out on this front." Hatsume said. "So here you are, just know that they're inferior to your last ones. If you can live with an inferior product then please put those babies to good use out there."
"These even got built in gloves that are the same as what you've made me in the past." Izuku said his voice muffled as his face had yet to return to normal. "Did you make those with your left hand just now? How did you manage that?"
"Oh and Ida, this isn't a one to one replica of the armor that you managed to destroy, can't do that without the blueprints for it, but this should suffice." Hatsume said ignoring Izuku as she tossed back white armor that looked a bit like Ida's but wasn't exactly the same and hit him in the face and chest causing the same issue that Midoriya was dealing with. "So make the most of it, it will hold for a bit at least."
"I'm so grateful Hatsume!" Ida said his voice muffled and a piece of armor still sticking out of his face. "Thank you."
"Agreste, here's that pump you requested." Hatsume added and unlike the other two, Adrien both had better reflexes thanks to his enhancements and after the last two tosses he was expecting it so he caught the black box that was the same size and dimensions as the one that Marinette had in his left hand and a large bag of something that clinked slightly in his right. "And this is the initial does of that energy paste stuff that you need for it. The rest will be ready whenever you and your girlfriend need it."
"Thanks." Adrien said as Hatsume's classmates returned having gone to get some of the stuff they needed to help out. "I've gotta get this hooked up now and adapt to using it in combat."
"Aw man and we just found our tape measure." The guy said an awkward smile on his face.
"Guess we'll go work on something else then." The girl added with the same smile on her face. "Can't really compete with Hatsume and she does already know your particulars."
"Hey, will you lot pass on a message for the rest of the hero course?" Hatsume asked as she continued to work. "Let's win this war!"
"Of course." All three said, Izuku and Ida a little muffled as their faces were still concaved for some reason, before they turned and left the Development Studio while saying their thanks to Power Loader on the way out.
Once they were out Adrien turned to the other two. He knew that they'd no doubt go back to training as they'd said as much a few moment ago but he had his own thing to sort our right now.
"I'll see you tonight in the dorm, I've gotta go to see Recovery Girl." Adrien said. "Need this hooked up right away to have as much time to get used to it and train with it as possible once Mage has healed me up following the implantation of the tube."
"Of course, we'll see you soon." Izuku said as Ida quickly put on his armor.
"Oh and get those faces sorted, I don't think that they're not supposed to implode like that." Adrien said as he turned to head to the Nurses Office and left the pair getting ready. "That's just weird."
Neither Izuku nor Ida said anything to that as they were busy getting themselves ready and Adrien knew that things would be fine in the end. He had his own thing to sort out and he wanted it done as soon as possible so that he could get back to training and preparing for the war to come. As such, he hurried along and hoped that Marinette was doing just fine herself while Ida and Izuku went out to join their classmates at some more training this time with Mt. Lady and probably a few other heroes as well.
While all this was going on, Marinette was back in the door and holed up in her room. She should be training with her classmates, and soon would be, but this was her chance to sort out the kwamis without anyone else around so she'd do it and use Lucky Charm in the process to make sure she had the right pairing for them. After that and the kwamis had been sorted then she'd rejoin her classmates and train as hard as she could for the rest of the day, providing that they were still training at the moment.
The kwamis for their part were all in her room as Marinette sat on her chair in front of them. The only ones not present were Kaalki, who was with Momo but not active as Mt. Lady was not in the know so Momo was training normally and had already rejoined the class after her private chat with Mage, Mullo who was already in Toru's room waiting for her return and her Miraculous which Marinette would deliver later, and Plagg who was using Aoyama's arrest as justification to eat all his cheese and who wasn't needed anyway. The rest though were all eagerly awaiting to see which of Marinette's classmates they'd be paired with.
"Alright let's start and see who gets paired with which of my classmates and I'll start you Trixx as you were the first one to be needed before the incident that sent Adrien and me here." Marinette said looking at the fox kwami who smirked at going first and floated forward. "The goal in mind is who is best to partner with you, hopefully this works as I expect and I get something from my classmate's room that I can recognized and thus deduce who it is. While I've thankfully never been in it, unfortunately I get the feeling that if it's Mineta's room then I'm still going to know that it's his and that I'm not going to like it but oh well let's see. Lucky Charm!"
With that Marinette held out her hand and pink sparkles appeared before it before an item materialized in the air and she had to catch it with both hands. Thankfully, she knew not only what it was but who the real item belonged to right away and grinned at her plan and goal working as intended. This was going to go smoothly; Marinette knew it and grinned as she look at the kwami and started their assignments.
"Alright Trixx, looks like for this war you will be partnered with…"
Ah a nice cliffhanger, I can never resist a good one and the answer will come either in the next chapter or the one after it depending on how the next chapter goes length wise. The same will be for all the kwamis and who they end up with so stay tuned on all of that. Anyway, for those curious as to why Hatsume knows Melissa, that is a reference to one of the chapters in the team up manga series that has been released where, in the first volume, Melissa pays a visit to U.A. and ends up in a support gear contest with Hatsume using Izuku as their test subject because both have radically different styles for what support gear should look like. It's a really funny chapter I felt and ended up with them starting to understand each other and a different kind of team up for the series so I thought I'd reference it and I have used that series before, mainly the Odd-Eye chapter a while back so I figured I'd reference it here. I also used that to reference the first film with the gauntlets as the manga did that as well. I know I failed to write that adaptation during the hiatus but I still have plans for that and the other 3 films as well which are to come either between the season 7 and 8 material or after the series is over. If it wasn't so recent and was accessible on one of the streaming sites, I would actually incorporate the latest film into the main story as, based on my understanding of it, it actually occurs about a day or two after the events of this chapter as Izuku is back at U.A. in his dark Deku attire and Aoyama is the only member of Class 1-A not present so it clearly occurs after his arrest and before the final battle which is a small window but without it being available I can't adapt it and as I'm doing the other films as stand alone stories in this series, I'll do the same for the 4th one. Anyway, that's all I have for this longer than usual post chapter note and so I'll leave it off here. As always, if you like it or have any questions please let me know in reviews or PMs, I will try to answer them as best I could and post any questions asked between uploads at the start of the next chapter and do follow and favorite this, so you are alerted to future uploads. Do keep the reviews coming as I like hearing from y'all as you enjoy my work, it motivates me to keep producing the best work I can for y'all to enjoy. Until next time.
