Daemon of Wrath: First of all, Shoto isn't a host. Sillad grants him a portion of his power like Ashborn did but without the system. It was clearly shown by Shoto getting consumed by ice instead of Sillad's soul invading through his body. The reason why he did it will be explained later.
AnimeFan13579: You are right, he will be saved in the future since Sillad isn't possess him yet, just letting him gain access to a small portion of his power.
XLR8wuzhere: Yes, that Sillad fucker.
ProjectIceman: Oh, it'll get worse.
uchiha-rune: You can say Shoto is some kind of 'champion', and a future vessel.
Whitemare: First of all, exam results will be revealed in this chapter. Second, no, giving OFA made Izuku too OP. Third, that's a work in progress. Lastly, yes, UA High Arc is on the way.
Elheroth:….it took me a Google Translate to understand what you said because 's translator is shitty. So, my reply is 'Es malo muy jodidamente malo'. Also, thanks.
One Week Later
Midoriya Residence
Musutafu, Japan
"Hey, man. You okay there?"
Eijirou snaps out of his thought before looking at Izuku giving him a concerned look. Both boys and Ochako had a sleepover in Izuku's apartment for a week after they finished the exam. Right now, they both simply hanging out to spend their time together.
"I-I'm fine….just a nightmare…." Eijirou mutters.
"Is it the same thing again? A pair of yellow eyes glowing in the dark, staring right at your soul menacingly?" Izuku asks as Eijirou nods.
"Yeah…..but, this time, I hear words from him…." Eijirou shudders. "He calls me 'the perfect vessel'… I never feel so scared in my life….it was like my body was about to be invaded….violated…"
"Umm…." Izuku was unsure how to respond to that. He merely offers the boy a cup of coffee, which is accepted by Eijirou as he takes a sip.
"Thanks…" Eijirou mutters. "…..do you…ever experience confusing nightmares…?"
"…..I once did, it was when I woke up from my coma after the dungeon incident 10 months ago," Izuku says as he rubs his chin. "I was in a void, nothing was there before suddenly a voice saying that the time has come and I still have to grow. He mentioned that I needed to grow stronger before we could talk. It's been a long time and we never encounter each other again. I guess to him, I'm still too weak…" Izuku chuckles humorlessly. "Also, he mentions that the shadow is my friend…..I wasn't expecting it to be literal…"
"How is that a nightmare?" Eijirou asks with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, I was slowly getting consumed by shadows while hearing that dialogue, I was confused and scared after…" Izuku trails off, images of a grinning statue playing in his mind as his hand trembles a bit. He grabs it to keep it from shaking before letting out a sigh. "Gosh…I thought I had moved on…." He blinks when Eijirou pulls him into a hug, causing Izuku to look at his friend in confusion.
"I'm sorry…I shouldn't ask…" Eijirou mutters as Izuku looks at him before smiling and wraps his arm around Eijirou, returning the hug.
"Don't be….also sorry. You're the one dealing with nightmares, but you had to hear me dumping some of my trauma…" Both boys chuckle wholeheartedly before they hear a door open and turn around to see Ochako finish taking showers.
"So, what did I miss?" Ochako asks curiously.
"Just me dumping some trauma," Izuku says in a joking manner.
"That isn't something you should mention in such a joking manner," Ochako says out of concern.
"Sorry, sorry. I was trying to break the tension." Izuku chuckles as Ochako sits on the couch next to Izuku. Izuku grabs a cup of coffee from the table and offers it to Ochako, who accepts it as she sips it with a delighted sigh.
"If you told me I would be a coffee addict before the internship, I would laugh at your face while pointing out how ridiculous it is," Ochako says.
"Well, given how addicted you have become ever since you joined the internship, I would retaliate by continuing to say 'I told you so' right on your face," Izuku replies earning an amused snort from the two of them.
"I rather not hear it from you, mister 'Too Much Coffee is Bad'." Ochako retorts as Eijirou laughs while Izuku blushes a bit.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up." Izuku playfully glares at Eijirou who raises his hands in mock surrender.
"Izu-kun." Izuku turns to see a white-haired girl with a pair of red eyes and a single horn on her forehead. This little girl is Eri, a victim of a nasty villain they encounter during their daily hangout.
Turns out that the villain is a leader of a yakuza, who wants to restore yakuza to its former glory and try to use Eri for his goal. The Trinity without hesitation beat the shit out of the villain with Izuku cutting off his limbs and Ochako crushes his balls with [Colossal Strength] . They did get into trouble after that moment, but they didn't care, they did it to protect the innocent girl from the hand of a dirty sewer rat. When they learned the entire detail about how the girl was treated, the Trinity tried to beat the rat again but was held by Gang Orca, who's on the scene.
Ever since that day, Inko decided to adopt her and Eri received the Midoriya surname. They sometimes bring Eri to hang out with them, and the best moment was when they brought Eri to a festival and saw her smile after learning that she had forgotten how to smile. The Trinity still feels their heart broken whenever they remember that.
"Hey, Eri. Did you sleep well?" Izuku asks as Eri nods happily. Izuku smiles before lifting her into the air and tickles her, earning a giggle.
"Ever since she was adopted by your mom, you've been a great brother to Eri, Izu." Ochako points out as Eijirou nods.
"I speak from experience, Izu-bro. You did an amazing job as a big brother." Eijirou says as he gives Izuku a thumbs up.
"We really should introduce her to Mirio-senpai." Ochako comments. "I swear, every time we tried to bring it up, Mirio-senpai seemed to be busy. Either for his final exam, culture festival, or any other stuff!"
"I know, right!? It was like a force trying to prevent him from us introducing Eri!" Izuku and his friends can't help but laugh. They have planned to introduce Eri to Mirio, but whenever they do, he's always been busy for some reason.
"Mirio….is he the person you mention, Izu-kun?" Eri asks innocently.
"Yeah, he's a very nice guy. You'll love to meet him." Izuku says as Eri merely nods and lies down her head on Izuku. Izuku smiles as he gently pats her head, and out of nowhere, Kuro pops up into Eri's lap, causing her to freeze and Izuku to panic.
"Kuro!" Izuku yelps as Eri starts shaking. Before things could escalate, Igris pops up and picks up Kuro.
"Apologies for my negligence, my lord. I shouldn't take my eyes off of him." Igris hastily apologizes as Eri starts to tremble while Izuku does his best to soothe him. "We shall take our leave." With that, Igris submerged into Izuku's shadow. Izuku sighs as Eri's tremble subsides.
"I'm sorry about that Eri. I know you're still scared of Birdman…" Izuku says gently while petting her head. "But, remember, Overhaul and the rest of Eight Death are unable to touch you now. Don't worry. Kuro's a good boy, and one day, you'll able to greet him without any fear." Eri merely nods before she falls asleep again.
"She's been sleeping a lot…" Eijirou mutters.
"After what she's gone through and how we saved her, like only a month ago, I don't doubt it," Ochako mutters. "I bet Over-dick didn't let the girl get any proper rest."
"I'm so glad to chop off his hands," Izuku growls in anger as they all nod. Out of nowhere, Inko pops out of the door, panicking while holding a letter. The Trinity hold themselves from yelping before turning around and making a silent gesture before pointing at sleeping Eri. Inko covers her mouth before giving a sheepish smile and pulls out a letter. Izuku grabs the letter and notices the UA insignia before looking at his friends. Inko merely smiles before she picks Eri up and walks into her room.
The Trinity look at each other before nodding and ripping the letter only to find a holographic disk. They raise their eyebrow before turning it on, and immediately, a holographic screen pops up with an image of All Might in his full glory.
"Booyah! It is I, All Might!" The trio can't help but smile at the man. "Now, you must be wondering 'What is Number 1 Hero doing here!?' Well, let me tell you! With great power, there must come with a great amount of paperwork! My recent move to Musutafu wasn't just solving crimes and do some community service. NO! I am here as a new UA Staff member!"
"I guess he wasn't messing with us…" Ochako mutters.
"Ocha, you heal him with the holy light of all healing magic and get rid of that pile of disgusting flesh. He was too grateful to think of messing with you or us." Izuku points out.
"Wait, what?" This caught the Trinity's attention. "Hurry up? What's with the rush? This is only one-!" All Might's eyes widen in disbelief. "I have to make how many!?"
"PFFT!" Ochako can't help but spit-take, coughing violently while trying to hold her laughter.
"Does….he know he's still in recording?" Eijirou points out with a sweatdrop.
"From how he acts, no," Izuku says with a nervous chuckle.
"Fine, fine. Stop rushing me. Ahem." Ochako giggles. "Where was I? Oh, right! Young Midoriya, you have done an excellent job at the written exam, earning 100 out of 100 marks in your written exam! Nedzu claims that it's impossible to do so, yet you did! Well done!"
"Please, share some of your INT stats with us!" Ochako wails as she starts shaking Izuku.
"I need it more! I need it more than a mage with insane INT stats!" Eijirou also wails while violently shaking Izuku.
"L-Let go!" Izuku pushes them away, stopping them from shaking him like crazy.
"As for your practical exam, you manage to score a whopping 127 points from beating the villains alone, easily earning you a seat in the Hero Course! But-!" All Might lift a finger. "That's not the only thing we examiners grade your exam! Here!" Several scenes show Izuku saving people after people, most notably when he saves the purple-haired boy, working together with Ochako by carrying examiners away from the Zero-Pointers and shielding her from the explosion.
"We won't call this Hero course if we ignore your heroic actions! And because of that, you have earned yourself 78 Rescue Points, earning you the 1st spot!" All Might exclaims before he leans into the screen. "Also, for your information, young Uraraka and Kirishima also passed and earned their seat in the Hero course as well. I know how you three seem to stick like glues."
"Yes!" Eijirou exclaims as he hugs Izuku and Ochako. "We did it!"
"Yeah! We all passed! We all passed!" Ochako exclaims while laughing.
"Yeah, we did it…." Izuku says as a small tear escapes his eyes. He slowly achieving his dream, one step at a time. The screen shows the ranking of the exam.
Izuku Midoriya: VP – 127, RP – 78
Ochako Uraraka: VP – 119, RP – 72
Eijirou Kirishima: VP – 116, RP - 75
Katsuki Bakugou: VP – 69, RP – 0
Ibara Shiozaki: VP – 36, RP – 32
Itsuka Kendo: VP – 25, RP – 40
Iida Tenya: VP – 50, RP – 9; Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu: VP – 49, RP – 10
Fumikage Tokoyami: VP – 47, RP – 10
Togaru Kamakiri: VP – 45, RP – 11; Yosetsu Awase: VP – 50, RP – 6
Shihai Kuroiro: VP – 34, RP – 19
"Oh, come on! The difference was too much!" Ochako groans as they look at the ranking before pouting.
"Haha." Izuku can't help but laugh as Ochako tries to punch him but is caught easily. "Fine, fine. I'll pay for our date."
"F-fine…" Ochako mutters as she pulls her fist back while blushing. Eijirou grins widely at them, silently cheering that his ship has started to sail.
"You have done amazingly, young man! Now, let me welcome you to your hero academia!" All Might exclaims before leaning to the screen once more. "Oh, I welcome you two as well, young Uraraka and Kirishima!" With that, the screen turns black.
"…..I'm so glad we're not dreaming," Izuku mutters before Ochako pinches his arms, causing him to yelp. "I said, I'm so glad we're not dreaming!"
"Oh, I must've heard wrong," Ochako says as she sticks her tongue out while Izuku gives her a deadpan stare. Ochako grabs the remote and turns on the television, which immediately shows the current news, which makes the Trinity freeze in shock.
"Breaking news, one of the greatest tragedies had just happened in the history of the Hero Society. Japan's number 2 hero, Endeavor had been greatly injured by unknown assailants. The number 2 hero has survived the attack, but he wasn't able to leave unscathed. Endeavor has suffered grievous injuries and he's right now being treated. The only clue of the attacker is the ice stuck on his body, refusing to melt or shatter no matter what the paramedics, the fellow heroes, or Endeavor's sidekicks do." The news reporter says in a grim tone before he looks at the person next to him. Izuku recognizes him immediately as Hawks, one of the HPSC agents.
"Endeavor….was my idol. He may not be everyone's favorite since All Might has always taken that spot on everyone's heart, but not for me. His career as a hero inspires me to be one as well, and I feel terrible for not being there and assist him. I apologize to everyone that I was unable to do a thing, but rest assured, investigations were held and we'll make sure the culprit shall be captured and face the consequences." Hawks states as the news reporter nods solemnly. Izuku can't help but notice how some of Hawks' words sound genuine yet also insincere at the same time.
"Holy shit…..could it possibly be an Awakener? A powerful one?" Eijirou mutters in shock.
"There's no other explanation, I mean, an ice that can't be melted or shattered by heroes? Sure, some powerful quirks might take more effort to deal with, but for it to not melt, especially when Endeavor's sidekicks are involved, there are no other explanations. Burnin's flames rival Endeavor and for the ice to not melt by either Endeavor's flame or Burnin, magic could only be the only explanation. Or….maybe if the quirk isn't ice, but crystal, but that's not gonna work since crystal will shatter. Diamonds? No, they will mention it and they won't be that stupid to be unable to differentiate those two." Izuku starts to fall into one of his mutter sprees, causing his friends to sweatdrop. Suddenly, the images of Endeavor injured were displayed on the screen and it was so shocking that it snapped Izuku out of his muttering.
Endeavor, the current number two hero, lying on the bed with ice spikes stabbing into his limbs, the blood on the ice was frozen solid. Bandages wrapped around his missing leg and arm, flames emitted from his body and it did nothing to the ice.
"My god…" Ochako mutters in horror, covering her mouth.
"Geez…" Eijirou winces at the scene, utterly shocked at the image.
"Who's capable of doing such a thing?" Izuku mutters in shock. Suddenly, Igris emerges from the shadow, holding Kuro on his arm, and gets close to the screen. "I-Igris..?"
"This display of power….the ice….and the effects caused by the ice itself….It looks familiar, but at the same time, it isn't." Igris mutters as Kuro squawk.
"You know who's responsible for this?" Izuku asks in confusion.
"I have some clues, but it wasn't enough to prove that he's responsible for this. Especially given how…..what did you people call it again? Ah, right! Amateurish! How amateurish the culprit is when they use the power." Igris says.
"Amateurish?" Izuku asks in utter confusion.
"Yes, especially given how the blood looks when the ice shards wound this man. If you're a master of ice, any injuries caused by such an attack will immediately freeze the blood, preventing the target from bleeding. And let's not forget, of all the fatal injuries it did, it's only missing limbs. The person I know who could be the culprit never leaves enemies alive, so I had to scratch it off my list." Igris says.
"But…..what if that culprit has some sort of assassin or even apprentice?" Izuku asks.
"Sadly, that might not be possible. The person I'm talking about is Sillad, the Ice Monarch." This made everyone's eyes widen.
"Monarch, like Izu?!" Ochako asks in shock. "There's someone as strong as Izu?!"
"Yes…" Igris nods.
"You know…I've heard a lot of things from your conversation with the Celestial Spirits; Rulers, Monarchs, Ashborn, the Great War, but I never bother to ask since I respect your privacy. But….now one of the things you mention decided to cause trouble in this world, so I respectfully ask, what the fuck is going on?" Izuku exclaims the last part louder than he intends to, but it is effective.
"…Rulers and Monarchs are beings of Light and Darkness respectively, both are created by the Absolute Being, who creates the universe and the organism from scratch. Rulers served under the Absolute Being, were born to protect the world, while the Monarch were born to destroy everything." This made Izuku turn pale as he couldn't help but shake.
"D-does that mean…." Izuku mutters in horror.
"No, you won't. And I'll explain it later." Igris manages to calm Izuku down before he continues. "The Monarch and the Ruler were in a war against each other for eons, starting from even before the dawn of time. It was a complete bloodshed. One day, the Rulers ask the Absolute Being to grant them powers to get rid of Monarchs for good."
"D-do they got it?" Ochako asks as Leo pops out of nowhere before shaking his head.
"Unfortunately, no. The Absolute Being didn't hear their request. At first, the Rulers find it weird, but they finally find out that their creation, the Rulers and Monarchs, weren't for any purpose other than for the Absolute Being's entertainment." Leo says while shaking its head.
"W-what…?" Izuku's stomach drops as he hears those words. "S-so…they were created not for any purpose, but only to entertain Absolute Being!? T-that piece of shit!"
"Yes." Tauros pops out as he nods. "The Rulers found out that the war would last forever as long as the Absolute Being remains alive, and they plan to rebel against them. Well, 7 out of 8 Rulers."
"So…who's refuse to rebel?" Eijirou asks.
"My former master, Ashborn," Igris says, which surprises everyone.
"Wait, I'm positive you once mentioned Ashborn is a Shadow Monarch, but now you tell me he's a Ruler? Which one is the right one?" Izuku asks in confusion.
"He is both. He is known as the Greatest Fragment of Brilliant Light as well as the Shadow Monarch." Igris says.
"…..Greatest Fragment of Brilliant Light? Sounds a bit mouthful." Ochako points out.
"Then, clearly you haven't heard the rest. There's Alphaeus, the Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light; Atland, the Strongest Fragment; Athenio, the Smartest Fragment; Arios, The Swiftest Fragment; Ironcore, The Tenacious Fragment; Skillweave, the Fastidious Fragment; and lastly, Lionheart, Courageous Fragment, who's also the Ruler I served under and my mentor." Leo lists off every name he remembers.
[A/N: Credits to Daemon of Wrath for the Ruler's names!]
"Huh…" Ochako mutters.
"My lord is blindly loyal towards Absolute Being, despite him growing weary of the eons of bloodshed and desire for peace. He tried to stop the Rulers from rebelling out of blind loyalty, but it ended with him dying at the hands of his friends while the Absolute Being died by their hands." Igris explains solemnly while clenching his fists.
"To make it worse, they all were more than friends. They all come from the same fragments of lights, and when they kill Ashborn." Leo trails off.
"Some part of themselves died. That's…..tragic…" Izuku mutters.
"But, that wasn't the end of Ashborn," Aquarius says as she pops out of nowhere. "We don't know the details, but he was reborn as a new Monarch, the Shadow Monarch."
"I believe it must be the failsafe placed by Absolute Being himself, given how Ashborn was blindly loyal to him," Leo stated.
"And the war continues," Tauros states. "Ashborn has decided to help the Monarch, given how the Rulers have betrayed them, but his revival earns great fear from both sides. Two of the Monarchs tried to betray him, but Ashborn easily dispatched them. The Rulers confronted Ashborn to ask for their forgiveness, but Ashborn, who's emotionally overwhelmed didn't reply to their plea. So, he switched his target for revenge to the Monarch who tried to betray him. This allows the Ruler to shift the tide of the war and forces the Monarch into hiding."
"Lord Ashborn at some point returns to the Monarch's side," Igris says, much to everyone's surprise. "And he was warmly welcomed, especially when two of the Monarch greatly weakened the Monarch's side. But, Ashborn grew conflicted, unable to find himself belonging in such a chaotic world, both sides have greatly wronged him, so he decided to-!" Igris' words were blurred by static noises, causing igris to curse. "So, that was the limit of how much we can talk…."
"…..the situation is much more dire than it seems," Leo mutters. "Then, that means you're right, Igris. The Monarch has started to move." This causes the Trinity to become nervous, wondering what they have got themselves into. All they wanted was to be a hero, and now they got themselves in a conflict between powerful beings!?
Meanwhile
Toshinori's Apartment
Musutafu, Japan
Yagi lay on his bed tiredly, completely collapsed from the amount of paperwork he had to work on as a UA Staff Member. He can't help but wonder how such an abomination exists and manages to torture humanity for centuries, but also making sure to remind them how important they are. He wonders how Nighteye can beat it.
Speaking of Nighteye, things have taken a turn for the worse for the man. First, he was charged for attempted grooming of a minor, especially when he tried to mold the poor boy for his desire for a 'perfect All Might replacement'. This leads to his hero business declining drastically, which leads Centipeder and Bubble Girl to quit as his sidekicks while creating their agency, with the help of All Might and Shishido, much to his surprise. And apparently, he has one last case entrusted to him before his rapid decline, a case against a yakuza. Sadly, Yagi didn't know if it was bad luck or karma, but the Trinity casually wreaked his entire months of planning and got the man arrested in just one hour, which led Nighteye in a very bad position.
Yagi didn't ever want to wish such a predicament on anyone, especially his former sidekick. But, he knows the man got himself into this situation by his own. There's one thing to suggest Yagi a successor, but trying to turn him into a carbon copy of himself without caring how the boy feels? That's crossing the line.
Speaking of a successor, right now, Yagi is conflicted, wondering if he should still look for one, especially with the fact that he's fully healed thanks to young Uraraka. He can't help but ponder, especially after everything that happens. Should he retire? If he retires, he could spend more time with his friends and allow the future generation to shine, giving them a chance...
Yagi immediately thinks of his old friend, David Shield. A man he only contacts once in a while and nothing more. His daughter, Melissa, always loves to talk to him and talk about inventions. He then remembers Melissa used to dream of becoming a hero before deciding to be like his dad...
'...should I...reignite her dream...?' Yagi ponders as he looks at his bedroom window, looking at the sunset. '...perhaps...'
Immediately, Yagi pulls out his phone and search through his contact list
[Dave - (xxx)xxx-xxxx]
He presses the contact and starts to call. After a while, his phone was picked up.
"Toshi? Why did you decide to call at 4 AM?!" Yagi can't help but smile at hearing the familiar voice.
"Dave, there's so many things I would like to talk to you."
