Neia Ooal Gown pouted.
It wasn't fair! Why did she have to be stuck in here?!
The Death Knight guarding her did not budge from its position. She knew from experience that it would not retaliate no matter what she did to it, given that it was one of her father's summons. Even if she didn't understand fully what that meant, she was only six years old after all, she knew that even if she pelted it with rocks it would not so much as flinch.
"It is your father's wish, child," the Elder Lich in charge of taking care of her said.
Perhaps another human child would've been somewhat afraid of the myriad of undead surrounding her, but Neia had always been surrounded by them. Even as a baby, there were several Death Knights who stood watch over her crib as she slept.
It was understandable that her parents were somewhat overprotective of her. Both of them were very strong, but that also meant that they had made several enemies. And any low-minded scoundrel would've loved nothing better than to target them by targeting their weakest point, her.
She got up and pouted again. She knew that the undead would give her nearly anything she wanted- the keyword being 'nearly everything.' They wouldn't go against her parent's orders, and it wasn't even like she could wait for one of them to be distracted or fall asleep. Because neither of those things happened to the undead.
But she was so bored! After all, she didn't get to go outside unless supervised. And there was so much she could do! Her mother often told her stories of her father's adventures, and also her own time as a paladin.
People, when they visited Neia, would often ask her whether she wanted to be a paladin like her mother- or a necromancer like her father. Neia really didn't have an answer to that- so she would oftentimes exclaim 'both!' which would surprise people, and they would chuckle softly and shake their heads. It was almost like they were laughing at her, though Neia couldn't understand why. Had she said something funny? When she asked, they would always just ruffle her hair.
She didn't know what was so funny. She picked up her toy sword and began swinging it around, as if she was fighting off an army of invaders. Just like her mother and father would! She was told that her father was a magic user, but she had seen him dressed up in armor and swinging a sword as well.
Neia's physical features had nearly entirely taken after her mother, though you could see a few traces of Ainz's human features in there. It seemed that her combat ability however, was almost entirely inherited from her father, with the legacy of his monstrous magical capabilities clearly coursing through her veins. She had been able to cast magic at the tender age of two. She had also nearly burnt down a section of her parent's house when she had been four and been grounded afterwards.
She needed to be more careful, but magic couldn't help her right now. She couldn't [Fly] out of a closed room, and doing something like turning invisible would not help her whatsoever with the undead who would see right through it.
If only... if only there was a way out! Then she would be free to explore!
And her intense desire to find some place out seemed to crystallize in her mind, forming a new 'path' that she hadn't know had existed before.
It was the first time she had managed to make a breakthrough like this before on her own- but she was quite pleased with the results.
[Lesser Teleportation]!
Her guards had no idea what to do as she vanished, appearing right near the rose bushes on her parent's manor which she loved so much.
So, she had gotten all this way- but where now? She loved playing in the garden like this, but she wanted to go outside.
She was still constrained by the walls- her parent's estate was so large that [Lesser Teleportation] might not even take one from one end of it to the other. And there would be guards on the walls...
...only one thing left to do!
[Lesser Teleportation]!
She thought this in her head as she found herself outside the walls. This was so much fun!
She ran into the fields. She had only been here a few times, frolicking through them with ease.
"Eh?" a voice yelled out to her.
She turned to see a grown up, but this man wasn't on one of her parents.
"Are you lost, little girl?" he asked.
Neia wondered if she should be talking to him- he might end up taking her back to her parents, and she didn't want to go home, at least, no right now! She was having way too much fun for that.
So she ran in the other direction.
"Hey wait!"
The man yelled after her, but Neia wasn't worried. She could run faster than most of the adults she knew- a cause of constant worry for her parents when choosing human babysitters for her. Only her mother and father could catch her, and very soon it seemed, she would be able to outrun her mother.
She giggled to herself. This was great!
Only then, a black shadow descended upon her, catching her.
She wriggled and squirmed, but couldn't get away from whatever had caught her. Was it a big bird? She had heard that some birds hunted rabbits in the fields- she didn't want to be carried to some bird's nest!
But, she couldn't get away!
As she was about to use [Lesser Teleportation] a voice called out to her.
"Easy there, Neia," a familiar voice said. She turned around to see someone with a relieved expression on their face.
"Papa!"
"How'd you get out of your room, hmm?" he asked.
"I telpe-telepepeported!" she said, mixing up the sounds. She knew what the spell was called, but sounding it out was still a bit difficult for her given how big the word was.
"Ah... I wasn't aware you would advance so far so quickly when you're only six..." her father said. "I'll have to keep you under anti-teleportation measures then, hmm, that will be a bit complicated..."
Neia shrunk in her father's arms. "Am I in twouble?" she asked. If her mother knew, she would definitely be angry. Her father though didn't get upset too much, but when he was upset, he could almost knock the whole house down! Neia had only seen her father that enraged once, and did not want to ever see something like that again.
He chuckled. "I think this can remain a secret between the two of us for now, okay?"
"Okay!" Neia said as they flew back to her room. However, her father, likely realizing why she had wanted to run away in the first place, took her way higher than she had been before.
"Let me know when you're cold," he told her.
"Okay!" she said, enjoying the feel of the breeze in her face. Beneath her, her house was almost as small as a button.
"Alright, I think we can go home now," her father said.
"Aww!"
"Don't worry- how about we go fishing tomorrow?"
"You pwomise?"
"Promise."
"Yay!" Neia said as they went back home.
A/N: And that concludes our story! I was going to end it last chapter, but a thought struck me- what if Ainz's child had a 'Baby's Day Out' like episode where they could suddenly teleport (of course Ainz would keep a close eye on them, and make sure they can't fly, but what about teleportation)? And so I decided to write this little chapter.
Also, I saw the reviews left last time. I'm sorry some people were disappointed that the series ended and thought I ended it prematurely- I will reiterate one of the points I made last chapter. I could write ten more chapters of Ainz and Remedios holding hands and whatnot, but it would just degenerate into a common romance fanfic at that point- what made this fanfic special was that it was about two very unlikely people falling in love and once I wrote that I really didn't feel like adding on layers of their romance to the story would add anything to it. I know some of you disagree with me, and if you were disappointed, I apologize- but that was my reasoning behind ending this story the way it ended.
