The next day they were given the day off to relax and have some fun after all the bases they had taken down.
Steve was with Peggy catching up while Bucky was with Sam trying to figure out what to do.
"How the hell are we gonna get out of here?" Sam asked.
"I don't- wait, maybe the sorcerer supreme from before Strange can help us after we get all the HYDRA bases!" Bucky said.
"That just might work."
"Alright then, we have a plan for getting home." Bucky said and Sam nodded.
Later they were called at SSR by Phillips and listening.
"Zola had someone that Barnes and Rogers might know in a place we think might be new captured." Phillips said and Bucky looked at him.
"And that would be?" Bucky said with a hand on his cheek.
"Rebecca Barnes." Phillips said and Bucky's hand fell onto the table breaking it by accident while Steve sat there in shock.
"Give me that!" Bucky said and grabbed the map to see what base it's in and know which one it is. "Son of a bitch." he muttered. "That goddamn bank!" he yelled confusing them all except Sam.
"Are you sure?" Sam asked and Bucky showed it to him. "Damnit." he said and looked at Bucky who looked back. "You sure about this? The last time you were there you were brainwashed after fighting us." he whispered.
"What choice do I have Sam? I'm not losing my sister!" Bucky hissed and Sam nodded.
"What and who do you need?" Sam asked and everyone waited.
"Who says anyone is coming with me?" Bucky asked looking at them all.
"Bucky-" Steve said but was cut off.
"No Steve! I'm not risking to lose you! It's in a bank, it's my goddamn sister and she's probably scared to death! She only trusted me out of all five of us after we lost mom and dad. So I'm doing this myself." Bucky said and they nodded and looked at Sam. "You're coming with me for a second though." he said and they went to a different room.
"What do you need?" Sam asked.
"Do you have my Winter Soldier suit?"
"Yeah."
"I need it. All of it." Bucky said and Sam nodded, grabbed his backpack and handed it to him.
"Be careful man."
"I'll be fine. You know what I can do." Bucky said and Sam nodded. "But if something happens I'll send you the message and if I'm not back within 24 hours unleash the Falcon. If you find me what I used to be, tell Steve I love him." he said and Sam nodded.
"Good luck." Sam said and Bucky nodded.
Then they got back with the others and they all looked at them then at Bucky worried.
"You sure you don't need any help?" Steve asked.
"I'll be fine. I have a bone to pick with them anyway." Bucky said and looked at everyone. "I'll be back. Until then Sergeant Wilson is in charge. I'm sorry Steve but as of right now, he's in charge." he said and they nodded.
Then he left.
When he got close to the bank he went to an alleyway and changed into the Winter Soldier uniform he hadn't worn in years.
Then he looked around to see no one there and snuck in.
Little did he know Sam had stuck a camera in his suit so he could keep an eye on him to see how much he was unleashing.
When he got in he stood there quietly watching them with Rebecca in a cage looking scared.
"W-what are you going to do to me?" Rebecca asked.
"Oh nothing, yet." an agent said.
Then Winter Soldier quietly jumped down.
Back at SSR everyone was watching him in horror.
W-what is he doing?" Steve asked.
"While he was captured, they were training him to be an assassin so naturally he has a good experience with this." Sam said and watched.
Meanwhile Rebecca saw Winter Soldier and looked scared so he took part of the mask off to show her his face and put a finger on his lips telling her to be quiet and she nodded relieved.
Then he put his mask back on, took out a knife and put it in the agent's shoulder.
The agent turned around to see no one.
"Who's there?!" he yelled but got nothing.
Then another knife hit him in the other shoulder and he winced.
While his eyes were shut from pain Winter Soldier came down quickly and punched him in the head knocking him out.
"That's for getting my sister." Winter Soldier said in Russian, took out another knife, turned around and threw it hitting another agent in the chest killing them. "God, they're to easy." he said and chuckled. "Sorry Bec, I suggest you shut your eyes so you don't have to see all this OK?" he asked and she nodded and did as told.
After that he snapped directly into full blown Winter Soldier but with mental control.
Every agent that came was gone within seconds.
When the last one was done he punched the cage and it was open.
"OK missy, let's get you outta here. When we get outside you can open your eyes OK?" he said and she nodded so he picked her up.
A few minutes later they were outside and he put her down.
"You can open them now." he said gently and she did.
"B-Bucky?" Rebecca said and he nodded so she jumped into his arms and he smiled and held her close. "You're alive."
"Yeah Becca. I'm alive. So is Steve."
"Where have you been?" she asked while tears fell down.
"We've just been busy knocking down HYDRA bases." he said and gave her a kiss. "We've been going all over the world." he said and she looked at him.
"Really?"
"Yup. Germany, Russia, Italy Switzerland, you name it." he said smiling and tapped her nose getting her to laugh. "You wanna know how high of a position I've gotten in the last few years?"
"How high?!" she asked excitedly. "Higher than daddy?!"
"Much higher. Daddy was only a Corporal when he died and I was already a Sergeant when I left remember?" he said and she nodded. "I, got all the way to Lieutenant Colonel a few days ago." he said and she gasped.
"Wow!"
"Yup."
"That means you're higher than Steve!"
"You know it! But you know what Steve really is?" he whispered.
"What?" she whispered back.
"Steve is really only a Private because he was only trained for a week and you need to be trained for at least three years like me and the rest of the team."
"Wow."
"Just don't tell anyone, OK?"
"I won't."
"Good. Now, let's go get you home so I can go yell at the other three shall we?" he said and put her on his shoulders.
Back at SSR base Steve couldn't help but smile.
"He always had a soft spot for her." Steve said and chuckled.
"How old is she?" Jones asked.
"I'd say about nine? God, I've lost track of time."
"Wow."
Meanwhile Bucky was at the house putting Rebecca down and opened the door to three worried sisters who looked up to see Rebecca and a pissed off Bucky.
"Becca!" they said and went to hug her but were stopped by Bucky.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Bucky snapped and they looked at him with guilt. "One job. You had one goddamn job while I took care of the war and HYDRA! And you can't even take care of her!"
"We were all at work and she was getting home from school when she was captured!"
"Then lower your goddamn hours! What are you doing for a living?" he asked with his arms crossed.
"Izzie is a nurse."
"Alex is a morning teacher for preschoolers." Izzie said.
"May is a waitress at a night restaurant down the street." Alex said.
"Then what the hell are you doing when you're not home watching Becca?!" Bucky asked and they stood there quietly. "You're hanging out with your goddamn friends?!" he yelled and they winced. "Oh my god! See this is why I asked Steve to look after you guys while I worked for those ten hours every six days."
At SSR everyone looked at Steve for an answer who nodded.
"He worked ten hours a day six days a week?" Peggy said.
"He had a house to pay for, bills to pay, four sisters and himself to feed and then medical care when they were sick." Steve said. "He didn't have a choice. I'd watch them just about every day and if I couldn't his neighbor would." he said and they went back to watching.
Back with Bucky.
"OK. You guys need to stop. Alex is going to walk her to school every day since she works in the morning, May is going to walk her home and take care of her after school every day since she works at night and then Izzie will help her with her homework when she gets home from work and while May works Alex and Izzie will work together to look after her. On weekends you will ask a neighbor to look after her and then you can go out with your friends. And if Becca is going out with her friends at any time or day, you have her come to one of you to tell you and then either one of you or the friend or their parents bring her home. Got it?!" Bucky said and they nodded. "Good." he said and picked up Rebecca. "Let's get you to bed so you can get some sleep." he said and went to her room.
When he got there he gently put her in bed, sat down and gave her a kiss.
"Can you give me a song before you leave like you did before you left for England?" Rebecca asked and he smiled.
"Sure thing little miss." he said quietly and started to sing a lullaby he used to sing to her when she was little and she started to dose off.
When he stopped he got up but felt a hand take his and looked at it.
"Don't go." she said half asleep and he bent down.
"I'm sorry Becca, but I have to. I still got a lot of things to do." he said and took some hair away from her eyes.
"Leave it to Steve." she said and he chuckled.
"You know that punk can't go a day without me." he said and gave her a kiss. "I'll be back before you know it. And you can always write to me. Just like you did when I was in England. OK?" he said and she nodded and fell fast asleep.
Then he got up, shut the door and went downstairs to see the other three looking at him.
"I told her to start writing to me. If I find out you're not doing what I tell you Iwill be back sooner than you think. Got it?" he said and they nodded. "Good." he said and looked at his watch. "I'm gonna get changed and then I have to get back to base." he said, went to his room and got changed.
When he was done he went to check on Rebecca one last time, left her the address of where to leave the letter, went downstairs, waved goodbye to the others and headed back to SSR.
