It was the evening of the fist September and Ayleen paced Severus' living room nervously. She knew that her brother was sitting somewhere above her head in the great hall. The feast should end any minute and the students would go into their common rooms. Ayleen was curious to see in which house Harry would be sorted into. She heard how the portrait moved aside and Severus entered. Quickly she dropped her book and hurried to him. "And?" she asked excited. Severus raised an eyebrow and looked at her in disbelief. "Why aren't you in bed?" he asked skeptically. Ayleen rolled her eyes. "It doesn't matter tell me how the sorting went", Ayleen begged taking Severus' hand. Severus shook hies head about the behavior of his daughter but finally gave in to her wish. "Well your friend Mr. Malfoy is in my house", Severus explained. Ayleen rolled her eyes that Draco would be in Slytherin had been clear. "Your brother on the other hand he became a Gryffindor." Ayleen began to beam. "Cool", she said running to her room. Severus shook his head, wondering what had gotten into the girl again.
A few days later Ayleen met Draco on the grounds. As usual the new students looked at her confused, because she wasn't wearing an uniform. It would take some weeks until they knew who she was. Draco stood beside her and threw stones into the black lake. "Your brother is a wimp", he said as he flicked another stone across the lake. Ayleen slapped his arm and he looked at her. "Don't say that he grew up with our muggle relatives and didn't even knew he was a wizard. Not to mention that our parents were killed by Voldemort", she snorted. Hagrid had told her this fact when she had visited him a few days before school started. ""So what, even that Granger girl is more capable then he is and she's a Mudblood." Again Ayleen slapped his arm. "What's that for?" Draco asked rubbing his aching arm. "Stopp calling her that. Did you forget that I'm a half blood and that my mother was also a muggle born witch?" Ayleen asked glaring angrily at Draco. "Alright I got it, that doesn't mean you have to get violent." "I'm sorry", Ayleen said looking across the lake. "By the way, have you already spoken to him? Draco finally wanted to know and looked at Ayleen from the side. The girl shook her head. "Why not?" the blond asked cocking his head to one side. "No idea, I don't even know if our relatives have told him about me", Ayleen said with a shrug and Draco noticed that she was about to burst into tears. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder and pulled her to his side. "If not their absolute idiots and if he doesn't believe you he's also one. I will curse him if he should make fun of you", Draco promised. Ayleen laughed and laid her head against his shoulder. "Since when are you this thoughtful?" she asked. "I've always been, you just didn't notice until now", Draco laughed and Ayleen rolled her eyes.
Ayleen had heard what had happened the night before and wondered how stupid Harry could be to take on a full-grown mountain troll. He was lucky to get away with his life. The girl hurried through the hallways looking for her brother. She finally spotted him in front of an empty classroom and fortunately he was alone. "Harry", she said as she reached him and he turned to her. "Yeah?" he said looking skeptically at her. Ayleen smiled friendly at him. "Can I talk with you?" she asked. Harry eyed her and then shrugged. Ayleen grabbed his hand and pulled him into the empty classroom. "I'm Ayleen", she introduced herself. "You're the girl that lives here, aren't you?" Harry asked and Ayleen nodded. "The older students say that you're Professor Snapes daughter, is that true?" the black-haired boy wanted to know. "Not quite, he's my foster father. My parents died when I was only a few months old", Ayleen explained. "I'm sorry, I know what it's like, my parents are dead too, but you probably already know that," Harry said. Ayleen nodded and watched Harry run his hands through his already messy hair. "Isn't it a little disturbing when everybody knows more about you then yourself?" Ayleen wanted to know. Harry snorted and said: "Quite, but it's not as if my relatives have told me any of this." He made a sweeping gesture into the room. ""What else have they kept from you?" Ayleen asked, sitting down on one of the tables in the room. "How my parents really died. They said that they died in a car accident." "How terrible", Ayleen stated. Harry shrugged and laid against the desk behind him. "It's not like they had been particularly nice to me." Ayleen bit her lips she didn't know if that what she had planned was such a good idea but after a moment she still asked her question. "What did they exactly tell you about the accident?" Ayleen wanted to know. Harry looked at her questioningly. "Why do you want to know this?" he asked skeptical. "Just tell me", Ayleen asked. "Alright", Harry sighed. "Supposedly we were on the road and Dad was driving drunk. Another car hit us, and everybody expect me died." "Everybody?" Ayleen asked. Harry nodded. "Mom, Dad and my little sister." Ayleen was relieved at least their relatives had told Harry about her, but that they had said that she was dead didn't make it easier for her. "Do you believe them?" Ayleen wanted to know. "After all I learned not really why?" Ayleen bit her lips again. "Because I know it's not true", she said looking Harry in the eye. Harry starred at her looking at her properly for the first time. She was petite, had long black her and piercing green eyes. "Your eyes", Harry stated. "Moms eyes I know", Ayleen said smiling softly. "So you weren't killed by Voldemort?" Harry asked. Ayleen raised an eyebrow. "Do I look like that? Sev…I mean Professor Snape says that he was actually just after you," she said slightly snippily. Harry raised his hands in defense. "Sorry, but until now I believed that you were dead too." Ayleen smiled tilting her head. Harry pushed himself from his desk stepping closer to her. Skeptical Ayleen looked up at him. "Can I hug you?" the boy asked unsurely. Ayleen laughed and wrapped her arms around her brother. Surprised Harry also wrapped his arms around his sister and hugged her to him.
The siblings had talked for a while and then finally left the classroom together. "How does it come, that I've never seen you in the great hall?" Harry wanted to know as they went down the hallway. "Oh I'm not yet a student so I eat in Professor Snapes private rooms", Ayleen explained. "I still can't believe that you're living with him", Harry said and Ayleen shrugged. "He's actually pretty nice." Harry snorted and Ayleen looked at him. "He can't stand me", he explained Ayleen. "Dray said something similar", Ayleen replied lost in thoughts. Harry suddenly stopped and Ayleen turned to him. "Harry?" she asked worried. "Dray? You don't mean Draco Malfoy do you?" he asked. "I do why?" Ayleen asked the counter question. Harry shook his head. "How do you even know him?" he asked upset. "Ahm he's Professor Snapes godson. I know him since I'm five years old or so, but what's wrong?" Ayleen wanted to know. "He's a devious ferret. He challenged me to a duel, but didn't show up instead he gave me away to Filch", Harry explained grabbing Ayleens shoulders. "I would like you to stay away from him Ayleen, he's a Slytherin and Slytherins are evil." Ayleen freed herself from her brother's grip. "Don't talk such nonsense Harry. Did you know that Merlin was a Slytherin?" she asked, looking at him challengingly. "Merlin went to Hogwarts?" Harry asked perplex and Ayleen nodded. Harry sighed. "Alright, but please be careful. I don't want anything to happen to my little sister." Ayleen smiled and wrapped her arms around Harry. "Don't worry I will take care of myself", she said and buried her head against Harry's chest. A little overwhelmed Harry wrapped his arms around Ayleen and hugged her close. He was happy that he had found his sister and he would protect her as best he could.
