Part 4: Turning a New Page
--
Scene 1: School Hallway - Morning
Penny walks down the school hallway, feeling a new sense of focus after her talk with Naruto. She's made a decision to put herself first, especially after the drama with Kareem and LaCienega. As she's about to head to her locker, LaCienega and Maya approach her, with LaCienega wearing a smug smile.
LaCienega: (grinning) "Penny, I just thought you'd like to know that Kareem invited me to his party this weekend. I guess he knows who's worth his time."
Penny pauses, taking a breath before giving LaCienega a calm smile.
Penny: "That's nice, LaCienega. Have a great time."
LaCienega's smile falters, clearly expecting Penny to be more upset.
LaCienega: (frowning slightly) "Wait… you really don't care?"
Penny: "Nope. Enjoy the party."
Penny turns back to her locker, leaving LaCienega flustered and at a loss for words.

Scene 2: Cafeteria - Lunchtime
Penny joins her friends at the lunch table, who all exchange knowing glances. It's obvious they're curious about what's been going on with her, especially after she walked away from Kareem and LaCienega. Dijonay leans in, unable to hold back any longer.
Dijonay: "Girl, what happened between you and Kareem? I heard he asked you to study again, and you told him no!"
Michael: "And you didn't care about LaCienega's party invite? Who are you, and what have you done with our Penny Proud?"
Penny laughs, taking a bite of her sandwich.
Penny: "Honestly, I just realized that I don't need to waste time worrying about people who don't see my worth. I've got other things to focus on."
Zoey: "Yes, Penny! Priorities!"
Dijonay: "That's right, girl! You don't need Kareem or LaCienega's drama. Let's do something fun this weekend ourselves!"
Penny smiles, feeling a surge of appreciation for her friends' support.
Penny: "You know what? I'd love that."

Scene 3: Ramen Restaurant - After School
After school, Penny decides to stop by Naruto's workplace at the ramen restaurant. She's been thinking about how he helped her with her basketball shot and wants to thank him properly.
When she enters, she spots Naruto cleaning tables in his quiet, reserved way. She walks up to him, and he looks up, mildly surprised to see her.
Penny: "Hey, Naruto."
Naruto: (nodding) "Hey."
Penny: "I just wanted to say thanks again. For helping me with my shot yesterday."
Naruto: "No problem."
An awkward silence settles between them before Penny speaks up again.
Penny: "So, do you ever go out and hang with people? Or is it really just you and… ramen?"
Naruto chuckles slightly, glancing at the steaming pots behind the counter.
Naruto: "Pretty much just me and ramen. That's enough for me."
Penny: "You know, it doesn't have to be. My friends and I are planning to go out this weekend. You could come if you want. Just… a chill thing."
Naruto hesitates, looking away.
Naruto: "Thanks, but I'm fine on my own."
Penny sighs, realizing she can't push him into something he doesn't want. But she decides to leave him with one last thought.
Penny: "Alright. But if you ever change your mind… you know where to find me."
Naruto gives her a nod, his expression softening just a little.
Naruto: "Thanks, Penny."
She smiles and heads out of the restaurant, leaving Naruto with a thoughtful expression. He watches her go, feeling just a bit more connected to the world around him than he had before.

Scene 4: School Gym - Basketball Game
The weekend arrives, and Penny's basketball game is in full swing. She's focused and determined, playing her best. In the stands, her friends cheer her on. Unbeknownst to her, Naruto has shown up and quietly takes a seat at the back, curious to see her in action.
Penny makes a critical shot, and the crowd erupts in applause. She glances up to see her friends clapping and yelling encouragement. Her eyes briefly meet Naruto's, and she sees him giving her a subtle nod.
The encouragement seems to fuel her even more, and she finishes the game strong, leading her team to victory.
--
Scene 5: Post-Game Celebration
After the game, Penny is surrounded by her friends, all congratulating her on the win. She glances around but doesn't see Naruto in the crowd. She wonders if she imagined seeing him there.
As she leaves the gym, she notices Naruto waiting by the exit. He nods at her, a small but genuine smile on his face.
Naruto: "Nice game. You've got skill."
Penny smiles back, feeling a warmth that surprises her.
Penny: "Thanks. And… thanks for showing up. It means a lot."
Naruto: "I figured I'd see what all the fuss was about."
They share a quiet laugh, a mutual understanding growing between them. It's clear they both respect each other's boundaries, but Penny can sense that Naruto's walls are slowly coming down.
Penny: "See you around, Naruto."
Naruto: "Yeah. See you."
As they part ways, Penny feels a newfound confidence. She doesn't need anyone else's approval, but having a friend like Naruto—someone real and down-to-earth—is something she never knew she needed.
And Naruto? For the first time in a long time, he feels a sense of belonging. Maybe he's not as alone as he once thought.
