Hello everyone and happy new year. I hope you all had a great 2019 and will have an even greater 2020.
Thanks to x snow- pony x for reviewing.
Sorry for not updating. This crazy writer's block just won't leave me be.
I've done this twice before years ago. After I'd been bad with updating I wrote one new chapter for each and every story. Then left it until I had finished them all and updated all stories at once. I've decided to do that same thing again and hopefully that will make a change as of how much I'll be able to update more afterwards… I guess only time will show. I hope you like this chapter.
"Ehrm…"
Johnny had to turn to pay for what he had gotten, but after I paid for mine we met up and suddenly stood right eye to eye for the first time in years.
"Hello."
"Hi."
"I can see… You know, I and Tee were moved back to the dumping ground and then you weren't there… Didn't you move back to Sweden?"
"Well… ehrm. Yeah, I did. But I came here… back here only a few months ago… I got myself a job… a trainee job. I'm at the dumping ground… How's life?"
Without anyone of us really knowing about it we had started moving. Walking out of the store and downtown where we passed more stores and restaurants.
"Life's okay.. I guess… I'm… in between jobs so to speak… Wow. You, the dumping ground, that girl… it seems like ages but at the same time it seems like yesterday."
"That girl." I snorted. "…Well. That was a whole story in itself but… we probably thought that we were so adult and had each partner and then you moved and when we didn't live in the same house anymore then there she was. Your new neighbor and the rest is what we call history."
"I don't even remember her name."
And that was how important she must have been…
"I and Tee moved back to the dumping ground only a few days after you'd left… Things just weren't working out at that foster home… As of the beginning everyone was angry with me for what I'd done but it's…. it's the dumping ground… now. What happened to you once you'd left England?"
"Well. I moved to my uncle's- Leon's you know. I think you met him." Johnny nodded. "And I always had friends and all. None of them were my parents or my brother and I could never get over what happened to them. But there is this look people start giving you when they know you're an orphan… I just couldn't live the rest of my life with that being all people knew about me. And to make a long story short, I finished school in June and then I packed and went here- I asked Mike if I could have a job as a cleaner or something while I looked for another, more permanent job. He thought I should be a trainee care worker and I would try it out and here I am."
"Here you are." Johnny smiled. "And here I am… I guess it must be fate." I just rolled my eyes at him- I wasn't so sure if I believed in such things.,, "How are the kids back at the dumping ground doing? Is Shawn still there?" I nodded. "He's been there for years now. But he doesn't seem to mind it. Tell everyone I said hi."
"I will."
We walked in silence for a while, None of us would ever know why but we continued along the path that would lead us back towards the dumping ground.
"Are you okay Emma?" Johnny suddenly asked. "You're so quiet and you seem distressed about something." I sighed.
Maybe I wasn't supposed to… but maybe I would and I would get it off my chest… but maybe…
It was only Johnny at least. Who had been in the craziness in the dumping ground himself for years…
Maybe if I didn't even say their names…
"Well. I don't think I'm supposed to tell you much because of confidentiality. But one of the girls living at the dumping ground was hurt and we made her twin sister go to nursery today so she would think about something else rather than surgeries or hospitals or… well. A lot has happened for those two only the last couple of days."
Johnny was only quiet for a few seconds.
"Are you talking about Ella and Tracie?"
"Yeah." I hadn't even thought about that Johnny might have been at the dumping ground when they came. "How did you know?"
I had pretty much figured the answer before answered.
"They were almost two years old by the time I left the dumping ground. Tell me… Was Tracie the one getting hurt?"
"How did you know?"
"Already at two years old they had their own personalities. Ella didn't have anything against reading or listening to music but Tracie was the wilder one already going outside and coming back with a sprained wrist and scraped knees. How and why in the world would I believe Ella had gotten hurt?"
At the question and Johnny smirking I couldn't help but to laugh shortly. I was still worried for this whole mess but somehow felt some of it just running of me.
"What?"
Johnny had just looked at me in some way I didn't recognize, at my question he quickly looked away.
"Nothing."
We had gone on the block down towards the dumping ground and I saw Mike's car in the driveway which must mean he was back home with Ella.
"I suppose Mike is back with Ella." I told Johnny. "So… it was nice meeting you again…" I couldn't help but smile. "After all this time."
My mind went by fast..
The day I had arrived here after the plane crash. I and Johnny kissing, thinking we were in love as two kids about twelve would. Tee telling me Johnny had cheated on me and then the two boyfriends I ever had had during most of my teens…
"So now I finally know your back here." Johnny interrupted my thoughts when I was just about to walk back towards the house. "Maybe we can meet again someday…" He sounded a bit hesitant. "Maybe do some more shopping for Christmas gifts and… I don't know. Christmas food or New Year's or anything."
I gave a shrug, quickly went through the fact that everything I did nowadays except for working at the dumping ground was sleeping in and watching Holby city.
Reuniting with a childhood crush and friend couldn't hurt.
"Sure. I guess I'd like that. What's your number?"
Random fact
I guess writing Johnny and Emma meeting again didn't turn out the way I'd hoped. But they needed to be done. And you're going to know why before the end of the when- series as I call them. Which will end with a oneshot after I finish this.
Second chapter finished for the update-all-of-my-stories-at-the-same-time-project. Eight left.
