Face of the Enemy 1 & 2/2

(Abigail's POV)
It's been a few weeks since we helped the Neo Wolf Pack Freedom Fighters. Today, me, Huck, Sonic, Chip, & Antoine were outside the city of Shamar in Midesta, fighting against an army of Dark Egg Legion soldiers & Badniks that had come out of nowhere*
Sonic: It's just a little ambush, guys! We're still good! We're still good!
Abigail: Glad you think so!
Antoine sliced off the tail of a Skorp & threw it at a Dark Egg Legion soldier*
Chip: Nice one!
Big: Mery buckets!
Antoine: That's "meri beaucoup," but you are being welcome all the sa - ayyyy!? *suddenly, a Sandworm came out of the ground* Sonic! Horde Commander! Horde Commander!
Sonic was facing off against another Dark Egg Legion soldier*
Sonic: Just a sec', Twan! Kinda got my hands full!
Just then, an orange male porcupine with black stripes on the tips of quills, amber eyes, peach skin, & wearing black red-lensed goggles, a black neckerchief, white gloves with red and black cuffs, & black & red boots with white straps ran past him*
Spike: Gotcha covered!
The porcupine ran towards the Sandworm & spun around like a top, causing damage. Just then, a teal female fennec fox with Persian pink eyes, a white muzzle, & wearing yellow & persian pink goggles, a black neckerchief, a persian pink sleeveless shirt, white gloves with pink & black ring cuffs, black shorts with white trim, black thigh-high socks, & black & white shoes with pink & black ring cuffs came up behind the soldier Sonic was facing & hit in the back of the neck, knocking him out*
Sonic*laugh* Okay, who the heck is that? Who the heck are you?
Just then, something moved under the ground past me & Sonic & going towards the Sandworm*
Abigail: WHOA! And what was that!?
Sonar: We're the calvary! Or as the locals like to call us . . . *the tunneling stopped & a purple male mole with greyish peach skin, & wearing a black hair tie, green shades, a black neckerchief, white gloves with green cuffs, & black, green & white shoes came out of the ground, destroying the Sandworm with black spikes his cuffs* The Freedom Fighters!
Dark Egg Legion Soldier: Retreat!
Sonic & the porcupine shook hands*
Sonic: "Freedom Fighters," huh? Figures we'd inspire some imitators.
Spike: "Imitators"? Pretty big talk there, Mister . . .
Sonic: Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog.
Suddenly, the porcupine got excited*
Spike: . . . S - Sonic? The Sonic?
Sonic: Oh, so you have heard of me.
Spike: Heard of you!? We modeled our team after yours! You inspired us to take up the fight! I - I'm Spike! This is Sonar!
Sonar started jumping up & down, really excited*
Sonar: Omygosh omygosh omygosh!
Spike: And this is Trevor Burrow!
Trevor Burrow: I - It's an honor, sir!
Sonic looked smug as he wrapped his arm around Spike's shoulders*
Antoine: Zut alores . . . As if his ego needed to get any bigger . . .
Abigail: Well, you know Sonic. He loves the spotlight.
Huckleberry: Chao . . .
Big waved to Sonar*
Big: Hello.
Sonic: Well, you all obviously have impeccable taste. Think you can help us out on our mission?
Spike: Of course!
Sonic: We're looking for a guy. It's a big city, but he shouldn't be too hard to find.
Abigail*in her mind*Famous last words.
We split up to ask around town. Huck & I asked a group of woman, washing their clothes in the river that went through the city*
Washer Woman: I'm sorry, dear. I'm afraid none of us have seen him for days.
We all met up again. The only one missing was Sonar*
Antoine: Any luck?
Sonic: Nada. And it doesn't look like the Professor has been by his office lately.
Abigail: And no one around town has seen Ehsan for days.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Spike: Sorry, guys. Nothing on our end either.
Just then, Sonar appeared on the roof of a nearby building*
Sonar: And that's why you hire a spy!
Sonic: You found a lead?
Sonar: Better! *she jumped from the roof & landed in front of us* . . . Or worse depending on how you look at it. The Dark Egg Legion has kidnapped him and are using him to do repairs to an old temple. We kinda busted it up during a fight a while back. What's so impossible about him anyway?
Antoine: Eet is a very complicated, mystical matter. You see . . .
Big: He has keys that open a temple that fixes the planet.
Antoine: . . . All right. Perhaps not too complicated . . .
Abigail: Especially when Big explains it.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Sonic: You know where this temple is, right?
Spike: Absolutely.
Sonic: Then we've got nothing to worry about! Let's go kick some Egg Legion butt!
Chip: All right! Another rescue mission!
That night, we were all outside the temple, ready for the mission. Sonic was back in his Werehog form*
Sonic: Hoo-boy. Security looks tight for once. Listen up, we're going to . . . *he turned to the Spike & Sonar, who looked nervous. Trevor just stood where he was, looking in the opposite direction* What?
Spike: S - Sorry. J - Just . . . We weren't expecting this side of you!
Trevor Burrow: One of you will have to describe it for me later. I want to know what all the fuss was about.
Sonar*whispering* What happened to him?
Antoine: Oh, eet was terrible! I was there! Eet is a story of danger and sacrifice! One of peril and . . .
Big: Sonic breathed in a bunch of Dark Gaia gas, and now his transforms at night.
Antoine: You are being ze spoiled sport!
Big: Oh, sorry. I didn't know we were playing. Can I be on your team?
Antoine: Not zat kind of sport!
Sonic: I don't know how Sal the patience for this leader thing . . . Line up! We're going to split into teams! Abby and I'll take the high road and sneak in from above. Spike, you guys know this area better than we do. Take Antoine and see if you can get around those guards. Sonar, you watch our backs. If anyone finds you, sic Big on 'em. No, seriously, he'll toss a mountain at them. *I held on to Sonic's back as he climbed over the temple wall. then he jumped down to the other side* Gotta admit, these stretchy arms are fun to swing around on! Almost makes sneaking around too easy, though . . .
Abigail: Yeah. But I am gonna miss this night form of yours when we fix the planet. Your fur is very soft and comfortable.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Suddenly, a spotlight flashed on us. Then we saw that we were surrounded by Badniks & Dark Egg Legion soldiers. Standing on one of the temple towers was a black & white female vulture wearing a golden cyborg mask, white & black Egg Legion uniform, black catsuit, white gloves with black cuffs & gold cufflinks, a white cape, & high heels with cloven toes, looking down at us*
Nephthys: You're a long way from home, Sonic the Werehog and Abigail Catz. A pity you'll both die here.
The next I knew, Sonic and I were fighting against the Legionnaires & Badniks*
Abigail*in her mind* How did a rescue mission turn into this!? At least with all these soldiers here, the others should be having an easier time.
Suddenly,Nephthys flew down & hit Sonic with her cape. I managed to dodge*
Nephthys: You're only making thing worse for all of us, you know.
Sonic: Yeah? How's that?
Nephthys: Your constant fighting, antagonizing Eggman, only serves to make him react more viciously.
Abigail: If you think we're just going to give up just like that and let that monster destroy the rest of our home, then you've obviously been hit on the head too many times, because that's not happening!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
Sonic: What she said!
Nephthys: He can't be stopped. We either live in his Empire or die in the fallout of your feud.
Sonic: Or, I kick his butt and we all love happily ever after. You can thank me later. *then we fought her. the whole time, she tried to convince us that we were only making things worse by fighting Eggman. but I just drowned her out, focusing on the fight. at one point, as she flew up high into the air, Sonic grabbed her cape with his stretchy arm* Get over here!
Nephthys: GYAH!
He pulled her to the ground, taking her cape off the in process. That's when Chip flew up to us*
Chip: Sonic! Abby! We got him! Everyone's already on the move!
Sonic: Awesome! Great work! *I grabbed on to his back as he started to climb up the wall*to Nephthys* We'll finish our political debate another night!
Nephthys: You're doing us all, you arrogant, stubborn - !
Sonic: Ha-Ha, whatever! See ya! *I jumped off his back once we got to the top of the wall* Yo, Abby. What're you doing?
Abigail: You go ahead. I'll catch up. *he nodded & jumped down. I turned back toNephthys* You may have lost hope and give up. But the Freedom Fighters will never give up or lose hope. So tell your boss and all your fellow Grandmasters that the Freedom Fighters will fight until the very end.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
She just looked at me in surprise as I jumped down the wall to join the others*
Later, we met Ehsan (an elderly man with caucasian skin light gray hair & wearing a coffee fez, a pale yellow gown underneath a coffee cloak with chocolate edges, & black shoes) in his office, where he gave us the Gaia Key*
Ehsan: It will be some time before I go back to the Gaia Temple again. I'm afraid you'll find it in rough shape when you use these keys.
Abigail: Don't worry about it.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
Ehsan: And thank you again for coming to my rescue.
Sonic: Don't thank me. All I did was get shot at. *he pointed to the rest of us* These guys did all the hard work. *he shook hands with Spike* I'm glad we could link up teams, Spike. You really helped us out.
Spike: It's been an honor, sir. I hope we can do it again some day.
Sonar: So there are more of these"Key Guardians" around the world? How many others do you need to find?
Antoine: Zat is sensitive information we must be guarding very -
Big: Four.
Antoine: Why do I ever bother?
Huck & I giggled. I hope Big never changes. Then it was time for us to head back to the Sky Patrol for our next mission*
Sonic: We'd love to hang out, but we gotta get to the next Key. Stay cool, guys!
Spike: Later!
Sonar: Take care!
As soon as we got back to the Sky Patrol, I went straight to my room & got ready to collapse on my bed for a long nap. But just as I had stood up from taking my boots off, I felt a familiar surge go through me as images flashed before my eyes*

(Vision - Third-Person POV)
*The Shamar Freedom Fighters were in their base. Trevor was working out on a punching bag & Spike & Sonar were on a computer, talking to someone*
Sonar: Is everything okay back at the base, Neph?
*It was Grandmaster Nephthys*
Nephthys: It's under control now. A few wounded, some light damage, but it's all manageable.
Spike: I'm so sorry, Neph. I mean, we knew Sonic would destabilize things, but . . .
Nephthys: No apologies needed, Spike. You all gave me the heads-up when they came to town and led them into the ambushes. You all did everything right. I'm the one who failed to finish things properly.
Spike: Well, if we had any doubt in our plan before, it's gone now.
Sonar: Right. Sonic showed up and everything fell to pieces.
Nephthys: We can still salvage the delicate balance of power we've established here. I'll report to Dr. Eggman, let him know what happened. Out new Intel on these "Key Guardians" might defuse his temper a bit.
Sonar: Hopefully. Be safe, Neph.
Nephthys: Same to you three. Don't worry. We'll keep the region stable.
(Reality - Abigail's POV)
As soon as my vision ended, I gasped in shock & I felt all my tiredness evaporate. Our new allies were working with the Grandmaster of that region! At that moment, a a felt a giant knot grow in stomach. Should I tell the others about this? Or keep this to myself until I find out their reasons behind their actions*
