One year later.

It didn't take long for Pacey to make friends, well friend.

Jack McPhee

He's quite the character, harboring a secret that would send the town of Capeside into a frenzy. He's gay. Having come out in chaos and a disapproving father…but his sister helped him through.

Andie McPhee

His gorgeous sister. Blonde and feisty. As smart as Joey if not smarter but she had some mental health issues that stemmed from her deceased older brother.

Those issues, however, wormed their way into the he and Andie had started, breaking them up after just three short months together.

They were a week away from the start of summer break when Jack approached him by his locker. "Come on man it'll be fun…dad really wants you to come so he can take you out on his boat."

Pacey grinned, his father liked boats and fishing but nothing like Mr. McPhee who invited him on the water all the time. "Now your playing unfair McPhee." After a few moments Pacey shook his head. "Alright I'll go."

"Sweet." Jack snickered shuffling papers from his backpack to his locker.

"So where are we going?"

"My dad has a home in Boston we haven't seen yet. So, he's taking us there for the summer."

Pacey's heart jumped at the word, 'Boston' that was the closest to home he had been since last year. "Ok."

"Were leaving last day of school."

"Sweet." Pacey smiled pulling his backpack over his shoulders. "I'll let Gretchen know."

"And I'll tell my dad."

The week passed quickly leaving Pacey to hustle back to Gretchen's throwing his bag together right as Jack's dad pulled up. Pacey ran up to the car, an apology on his lips. "Sorry…sorry."

Jack grinned his father chuckling behind him. They were used to Pacey's tardiness since it happened near daily. "Its okay Pacey. It should only take us an hour, hour and a half to get there."

"Cool." Pacey chuckled diving in the back seat, immediately grabbing for the snacks that were back there.

They were an hour into the ride when they passed a sign Pacey thought he wouldn't see again. "Mr. McPhee, I thought your house was in Boston." Pacey's eyes bulged as they passed the 'Welcome to Capeside' sign.

"A suburb of Boston." Mr. McPhee glared at his son before turning back to the road. "I told Jack, but I guess he forgot."

"Sorry." Jack apologized from the front seat, but Pacey stared out the window, out at the familiar landscape, breathing heavily he muttered to himself.

"Shit."

They pulled into a nicer house in the area, it sat a few miles down the creek from where Joey's house was, Dawson's was double that in the opposite direction. "Holy shit." Pacey stumbled out of the car as Jack and his dad grabbed their bags and went into the house, leaving Pacey as he meandered to the small dock, fighting with himself to let the water ease his inner turmoil.

"P…Pacey?"

Pacey's eyes widened as he caught sight of the small canoe slowing in front of the dock. The creek, having shrunk in front of the house, brought the tiny boat closer to the dock than it normally would have in either direction, giving the person inside of it a full view of him from a short distance. "Hey Jo."
