Episode 356: Time-Warp Heals All Wounds
After seeing Celebi return to its own timeline and seeing Solana again, Sora, Kairi, Chase, Elaine, Rei, Pikachu, Angel, Volt, and Maple have rode on the Cycling Road and right to Fushia City.
"It looks like we took the wrong road and came to Fushia City instead," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Well, the Contest is only a few weeks away, so we still have time to train for it," Kairi said.
"And that gives you time to get ready, Kairi," Rei said.
"She's right. And it wouldn't hurt to rest up for a bit since coming here," Chase said.
"Pikachu," Volt said.
"Also, we still have our eggs to hatch while we're at it," Elaine said.
"Eevee," Maple said.
"I mean, I feel like a little kid waiting for a new toy on Christmas," Elaine said.
"I feel the same way," Kairi said, laughing.
Nurse Joy approached the group to greet them.
"Hi there," Nurse Joy greeted.
"Hi, Nurse Joy," Sora, Kairi, Chase, Elaine, and Rei greeted back.
"Are those Pokémon eggs you got there?" Nurse Joy asked.
"Yes, one for each of us," Kairi said.
"I must say, these eggs are healthy-looking. You've both done a wonderful job in taking care of them. And I can say, these look ready to hatch very soon," Nurse Joy said.
"I'm glad, because I can hardly wait to see what it is," Elaine said.
"Eevee," Maple said.
"I think we should go train for it. Sora, would you be a doll and watch the egg for me?" Kairi asked.
"Sure thing, Kairi. This egg will be a perfect little angel under my watch," Sora said.
"How about you watch mine, too? I think I'm going to go for some fresh air," Elaine said.
"Hold on!" Sora said.
"Thanks, Sora, you're a pal!" Elaine said as she and Maple stepped out. Sora sighed to himself.
"Well, at least it'll be an easy babysitting job," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Elaine and Maple stepped out of the Pokémon Center to have a walk.
"It feels nice to have a stroll, just the two of us, huh, Maple?" Elaine asked.
"Eevee," Maple nodded.
"What do you say that we have a look at the..." Elaine paused when she saw what looks like a Flood lurking around. "That's gotta be an Unversed, right?"
"Vee," Maple said.
"Let's see if we can sneak up on it," Elaine said. With that said, Elaine and Maple went to the direction the Flood was first seen. Elaine summoned her Keyblade as she and Maple entered in an old area of the city. Once she was in range for attack, she struck down the Flood. "Gotcha. Guess that Unversed didn't know who it was messing with, huh?"
"Eevee, vee," Maple said, laughing. Her laughter was cut short when several more Floods came. "EEEVEEE!"
"What?" Elaine asked as she turned and saw the other Floods coming. She yelped. "Should have guessed one would be too good to be true. But I'll have to take them out."
"Eevee, vee, Eevee!" Maple said.
"If you're saying that I should call the others, that'll be a good idea, but they wouldn't get here in time! Besides, we'll have to take them out together!" Elaine said. Maple knew she was right. They had to wipe them out before things got worse. Elaine went and struck down some of the Floods as Red Chilis, Yellow Mustards, Blue Sea Salts, Scrappers, Bruisers, Archravens, Axe Flappers, and a new kind of Unversed.
It is a monstrous Unversed, resembling a half-snake half-flower creature. Its main body is purple and is shaped like a snake. It has a pink bulb-like head which opens to reveal a black spherical face inside its mouth. Its red eyes are pointed downward and to both sides of its head are a pair of purple bat-like wings with an orange curved stripe on each wing. On the bottom of its body is a pot shaped stem with the Unversed symbol on its front and a pair of black zig-zags on both sides. This Unversed is known as the Flowersnake.
Elaine and Maple engaged the Unversed and struck down some that came her way. She managed to cast a fire spell, hitting some of the Scrappers. An Archraven flew down at Maple, but she bit the crow-like Unversed as Maple struck it down.
Elaine and Maple managed to fight off the Unversed until the last of them were destroyed.
"Eevee," Maple said.
"Those Unversed won't be giving us any more trouble," Elaine said.
"Eevee," Maple said. Her ears then perked up. "Vee?" She sees an old train station.
"What is it, Maple? More Unversed?" Elaine asked. Maple went over to the train station. "Maple, wait! Oh, not again!" She followed her partner into the train station and she saw an old photo on a bench. "Wow, this place must have been pretty busy a long time ago."
"Eevee," Maple's voice said. Elaine followed the Eevee's voice to the train tracks. "Maple?"
"Eevee, vee," Maple said. She is resting in the arms of an elderly woman. She wore a white shirt and a purple skirt, and black heels. She has orange pearl earrings.
"There you are, Maple," Elaine said. She went up to her partner.
"Eevee," Maple said.
"You two know each other then. This is your Eevee?" The elderly woman asked.
"Yes. Her name's Maple. She must have heard something. You haven't seen any weird creatures around here, did you?" Elaine asked.
"No, I haven't," the elderly woman said.
"Oh, good. Anyway, sorry if Maple bothered you over nothing," Elaine said.
"Not at all. It's wonderful to have such a healthy Pokémon. Isn't that right?" The elderly woman asked.
"Eevee," Maple agreed.
"What's your name, dear?" The elderly woman asked.
"My name's Elaine," Elaine answered.
"Such a lovely name. My name's Edna," the elderly woman introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you," Elaine said. It then started to rain.
"Uh-oh, dear me!" Edna gasped. She turned to Elaine. "I should get home before the rain picks up."
"Sure. But would you mind telling me what you were doing here today?" Elaine asked.
"Not at all. I'm waiting for the steam train from town," Edna said.
"Steam train?" Elaine asked.
"This is the last stop on the line. It comes through the tunnel in the mountain over there," Edna said.
"It does? It thought it was..." Elaine paused.
"He's a passenger on that train. I'm waiting for him to come back," Edna said.
"Waiting for who?" Elaine asked.
"Grandma!" A girl's voice called out. Elaine turned to see a girl around Elaine's age. She has fair skin, red hair, and violet eyes. She wore a yellow shirt, orange suspenders with the same-colored skirt, white socks, and red shoes. She was carrying an umbrella. "I thought I'd find you here again, grandma!"
"Hello there, Catrina. Dear, this is Elaine. Why, I only met her a moment ago," Edna said.
"Nice to meet you," Elaine said.
"Oh! Hello, Elaine. Elaine, tell me, did grandma cause any trouble?" Catrina asked.
"Trouble?" Elaine asked, feeling dumbfounded and not understanding what she meant. "No, not that I know of."
"That's good. Time to go, grandma. You might catch a cold out here," Catrina said.
"Yes. Too late for the train today," Edna said. Catrina looked at her grandmother, knowing she was disappointed.
"Oh, grandma," Catrina said, feeling sorry for her. Edna stands up.
"It was raining just like this so long ago. If only if was snowing instead," Edna said, taking her leave and opened her umbrella.
"Poor grandma," Catrina said. Elaine sighed to herself when she noticed something on the bench she was sitting on.
"It looks like your grandma forgot something," Elaine said. It was an old photo of a man and woman.
Back at the Pokémon Center, Sora was continuing to watch over the eggs when Kairi came back in.
"Trust you got your training done," Sora said.
"Hardly. It started to rain. Angel and I just started to run back in here as soon it started pouring," Kairi said. Angel shakes herself dry.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"So, how's my egg, Sora?" Kairi asked.
"Doing fine. Have a look," Sora said, handing her egg to his girlfriend.
"You're such a sweetheart, but where's Elaine?" Kairi asked.
"She and Maple went out for a walk. Hope they didn't caught in this rain," Sora said, looking outside. "It's raining cat and dog Pokémon out there."
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Back at the old train station, Elaine, Catrina, and Maple sit on the steps.
"Tell me, Catrina, who is that guy in the picture?" Elaine asked.
"That's my grandma Edna, and the guy is my grandpa Jonathan. But I never met him," Catrina said.
"Is that who she was waiting for at the old train station today?" Elaine asked. Catrina nodded. "Hey, that's a pretty pendant she's wearing."
"She told me she lost it. She said that pendant was really, really important to her," Catrina said.
"What a shame," Elaine said.
"It all started before my mom was even born. My grandma and grandpa were much younger, living in town. My grandpa had a job in raising Pokémon and grandma Edna was his assistant. But one day, grandpa made a decision. He decided to move to a different city, study medicine and become a Pokémon Doctor so he could help Pokémon their whole lives. My grandma was born and raised in the town, so she ended up loving it so much, she couldn't bear to leave it behind. Of course, grandpa left and went to the city by himself. It was raining that day, just like now. Grandpa left a letter for grandma saying how much he loved her and he had to go. And when she read it, she took off after him. But by the time she got there, it was already too late. The train was leaving. A year later, my grandma got a letter saying my grandpa had passed away in an accident," Catrina said.
"How horrible!" Elaine exclaimed in shock.
"Yes. When she read it, she didn't believe a word of the letter. She still doesn't believe it. She still comes to this station, day after day, waiting for grandpa to return. Then, one day, grandma told me this..." Catrina said.
(Flashback)
We have a sunny day where Catrina is sitting on the same bench with Edna.
"I shouldn't have let him go without me like I did. You see, I was pregnant with your mother by that time. The thing is, grandpa left without knowing that. I honestly didn't know whether to tell him or not. If only it was snowing instead of rain, then the train would have been late. And I might have caught up to him in time," Edna said.
(Flashback ends)
Elaine was absorbing everything Catrina had said to her.
"That's the saddest thing I have ever heard," Elaine said.
"Yeah," Catrina agreed. Elaine felt sad for Edna as it reminded her of how she remembered how Sora's dad died before he and his sister were even born.
"I can't say I know what it looks like, but I have a friend who never knew his own dad when he was alive. He lived with his mom and twin sister for a long time. His mom never remarried, because she stayed loyal to her husband just like your grandma stayed loyal to your grandpa," Elaine said.
"Is that so?" Catrina asked.
"It is," Elaine said.
"Eevee," Maple said, nuzzling Elaine by the leg.
"I'm okay, Maple. Promise," Elaine said.
"Elaine, do you see that fir tree?" Catrina asked, pointing to a tall fir tree. ahead of them. "It used to be covered in needles. There is a legend where it is said that spiritual creatures would show up around summer and they would breathe life into the tree. And when the tree withered, the spirits stopped coming, and that's what made grandma started to feel really sad," Catrina said.
"Spirits?" Elaine asked.
Unknown to them, a small cat-like creature is watching them closely. I has gray fur accented by black stripes. The creature has large spherical heads with small ears, narrow blue eyes, and a white snout. Its limbs are quite stubby, lacking distinct digits, as are their tails. It has the symbol of the Dream Eaters on its back. It is a Dream Eater called a Chirithy.
Back at the Pokémon Center, Elaine and Maple went back and she explained about walking into an Unversed ambush and everything regarding Edna.
"That's so sad. How could she have survived this whole ordeal for all these years?" Kairi asked.
"I honestly don't have an answer for that," Elaine said.
"It's not really a surprise for me to hear it," Nurse Joy said.
"You know something about that, Nurse Joy?" Chase asked.
"Yes, and so do some of the people who live here in town. Her family has told her to accept that Jonathan is gone and he isn't coming back, and she should move on with her life, but she refused to do so. Eventually, they just gave on trying to reason with her," Nurse Joy said.
"Man, it really must be hard to let someone you go," Sora said.
"It is, Sora," Rei said. Just then, the two eggs began to glow. "Kairi, Elaine, the eggs! They're glowing!" The girls looked at the two eggs.
"That means they're getting ready to hatch," Sora said.
"You're right. May I help with with those?" Nurse Joy asked.
"Sure thing," Kairi said as she and Elaine handed her the eggs.
"It would be nice if there was a real nursery here in the Pokémon Center," Nurse Joy said.
"A real nursery?" Elaine asked.
"Uh, Elaine. Maple's gone again," Chase said.
"What?! Not again! I'm starting to wonder if this is starting to become a regular thing with her!" Elaine said. She got up and went out to look for Maple. The only place she could think of was the old train station, so that's where she decided to look. She came to the station, looking for Maple. "Where are you, Maple?"
"Eevee!" Maple called out. She turned to see Maple carrying something in her mouth. She stepped on the tracks to have a closer look. She saw it was the pendant Catrina was talking about earlier.
"This is the pendant," Elaine said. She pressed the top button and it reveals itself to be a locket with Jonathan's picture inside. "This is Jonathan. Edna must have dropped it when she tripped when she was running after Jonathan."
"Eevee," Maple said.
Just then, out of the blue, Chirithy and a few other Dream Eaters appeared before her, much to her surprise. One is a plump Dream Eater that resemble a cross between a cat and a dog. It has a point at the top of its head, and its eyes resemble plus signs. It has a dog-like muzzle, spots on its side, and pointy ears. There is a small ring of color on its legs, separating its legs from its paws. Its Emblem is on its chest. It has a white underbody and muzzle. The top half of its body is blue in color, and its blue ears possess black tips. Its rear end is black, and its stubby black tail has a pink tip. Its legs are black at the bottom with a pink band wrapping around the middle, and a short pink tongue hangs loosely out of its mouth. It has a small purple nose in the shape of an upside-down triangle, and it sports a short pink horn on its forehead. Three yellow spots decorate its sides, and the pupils of its circular black eyes take the shape of crosses. This Dream Eater is a Meow Wow.
The other is a sheep with a round, ball body. Its Emblem is on the top-half of its body. has the top-half of its body is white in color. Its lower body shows a contrast of lavender and turquoise and has several white spots. In the middle of its body is its face, showing a contrast of yellow and red, and it has black eyes with arrow-shaped pupils that changes color depending on its disposition. It also has a red, diamond-shaped mouth. Its small, flapping ears are pink and its thin legs are pink with blue hooves. It has large horns which are orange, yellow and green. This Dream Eater is a Tama Sheep.
"What the?! Heartless!" Elaine summoned her Keyblade and got ready to fight them.
"Wait. We are not your enemies, Elaine," Chirithy said.
"You can talk? How do you know my name?" Elaine asked.
"We know about you since you wield a Keyblade. We are responding to Edna's dreams. We felt her heart wishing for Jonathan had never left, but we cannot do it alone, so we called for you," Chirithy said as the Meow Wow and Tama Sheep nodded.
"Why me?" Elaine asked.
"Because we need only one of you, and since you made contact with Edna, we believe you can do it," Chirity said.
"If you want my help, then I'll do my best. Just what do I have to do to help you out?" Elaine asked.
"I know you will," Chirithy said. Chirithy, the Meow Wow, and the Tama Sheep uses their powers to make the locket glow, engulfing Elaine and Maple in the light. Elaine shuts her eyes, keeping out the light. The fades as Elaine slowly opened her eyes.
"Where am I?" Elaine asked.
"Eevee," Maple said.
"Hey, where did those things go?" Elaine asked.
"Vee," Maple said.
They suddenly hear the sound of a train whistle. Elaine turned to see a steam train coming their way. Elaine and Maple quickly got off the track.
"WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT ABOUT?!" Elaine exclaimed.
"Eevee, vee," Maple said.
"Don't you know it's dangerous to play on the tracks?! Get out of here at once!" The station attendant scolded.
"I'm gone!" Elaine said as she and Maple ran off, not wanting to have further trouble. When she and Maple stepped out, they saw how different it was. "What the? It wasn't like this the last time! Something isn't right here."
"Eevee," Maple said.
"Maybe the Master would know what's going on," Elaine said, taking out her Rotom Phone, but she saw how out of whack the Rotom Phone looked. "What the? The Rotom Phone isn't a good signal here?! What is going on here?!"
"Eevee, Eevee, Eevee, vee," Maple said, pointing to the fir tree. Elaine gasped when she saw how healthy it looked compared to how it looked before.
"I think you're right. We went back in time. When I agreed to help those creatures out, they didn't mention me being in a near death experience," Elaine said. She then saw Jonathan walking to the train station. "Maple, it's him."
"Eevee," Maple said.
"This must be where, I mean, when they put us. When they said Edna wished Jonathan never left, they needed us to make that wish come true," Elaine said.
"Eevee," Maple said.
He walked passed them before Elaine could speak up to him.
"So, you're going?" A station attendant asked.
"Yeah," Jonathan replied.
"And Edna?" The station attendant asked.
"She doesn't wanna leave her hometown," Jonathan said. He understood what Jonathan meant.
"I know how she feels," the station attendant said.
"Right, what can I do?" Jonathan asked as he walked inside the station.
"Come on, Maple! Let's go!" Elaine said. She and Maple went to the station to speak with Jonathan. They make to the booth.
"Tickets please," the station attendant said.
"We're just here to see someone off," Elaine said. The first station attendant came to the scene and recognized her.
"You again? I guess you couldn't wait to play in the station again, could you?" The first station attendant asked.
"It's not like that!" Elaine said.
"If something happens, it's my job!" The first station attendant said, taking Elaine and Maple out of the station. "I've got no time for brats like you! Do me a favor and bother someone else! If you wanna play games, go to the park!"
"You don't have to be a big, fat jerk about it, you big stinky Primeape!" Elaine called out. He came right back with an angry expression.
"WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?!" The station attendant exclaimed. She and Maple dashed off. "Damn kids, treating the train station like it was a playground. And she didn't have to insult me like that I took a bath just yesterday."
"Great. How am I gonna get to Jonathan and stop him from leaving if I can't get to him? What would Sora and Kairi do if they were in my shoes?" Elaine asked herself. It then started to rain. "Now, it's raining, just like Edna said. If only it was snowing, none of this could happen." She then remembered Edna saying those exact words and about being able to use ice magic. "Wait, that's it. That's it! If only it was snowing! I think those creatures knew that that I can use ice magic, so that's why they sent us here! How am I gonna do it?"
"Eevee!" Maple said, pointing to the hot air balloons. Elaine smiled over how smart Maple is.
"Great thinking, Maple. We can float to those clouds with some hot air balloons! You're a total genius!" Elaine said.
"Eevee, vee," Maple beamed.
"We better hurry and get there before it's too late," Elaine said.
Over to the house, young Edna sees the note Jonathan had left for her to find. She then reads it and she's filled with regret.
"What have I done?" Young Edna asked herself before she ran out.
Back with Elaine and Maple, they ran over to the balloon stand to make it snow. Young Edna kept on running for Jonathan. Elaine and Maple float up in an unattended balloon and float close enough to the clouds.
"Okay, if I'm right, I can use my blizzard magic to change that rain into snow," Elaine said, summoning her Keyblade. She aims it at the cloud. "Blizzard!" She casts a massive blizzard spell right at the clouds. Now, all she had to do is hold on. "Gotta focus. Gotta give it everything I got."
"Vee," Maple said.
Back at the station, Jonathan boards the train as soon as the whistle sounds.
Back on the balloon, Elaine kept firing her blizzard spell until the rain has turned into snow.
"I did it. And I thought Kairi was magical," Elaine panted.
"Eevee," Maple said.
"Well, I hope it was enough to change the future for the better," Elaine said.
"Eevee," Maple said.
As it snows all over the town, and the station attendants were puzzled and confused over the snow.
"I didn't hear anything in the weather report about a snowstorm. Did you?" The first station attendant asked.
"Since when is the weather man ever right?" Another station attendant asked.
Elaine sees Edna running to the station, knowing what was going to happen next.
"Attention, passengers! We have an important announcement! Due to the weather, they'll be a brief departure delay to attach the snow plow! We regret any inconvenience and thank you for your patience!" A random station attendant announced as Edna ran passed a man in a tuxedo. Jonathan sees Edna running up to him.
"Jonathan!" Edna called out.
"Edna?" Jonathan asked, getting off the train. "I'm so happy you're here! Have you changed your mind and decided to come with me after all?"
"No, not quite. It's just..." Edna paused for a moment. "The truth is I'm pregnant." Jonathan's face lit up when he heard his wife admit her pregnancy to him.
Up above, Elaine and Maple are watching from the balloon. They see the happy couple hug each other and they take their leave of the station, feeling proud of herself.
"Tragedy prevented," Elaine said.
"You've done well, Elaine," a familiar voice said. Elaine turned to see Chirithy in the balloon with them. "I knew I was right to choose you."
"I understand why you picked me. You knew I'd make it snow instead of rain. But since you know my name, how about you tell me yours, please," Elaine said.
"You can just call me Chirithy," Chirithy said.
"What are you anyway? You're not a Pokémon, a Heartless, a Nobody, or an Unversed, so what?" Elaine asked.
"I'm a Spirit," Chirithy said.
"Spirit?" Elaine asked.
"Have a look and you will see," Chirithy said, pointing to the fir tree. Elaine and Maple looked and saw the Spirit Dream Eaters dance around the fir tree. Jonathan and Edna were among the people seeing the Spirit Dream Eaters dancing. Their dance gave off lights, flashing in different colors. That's when Elaine understood.
"I get it. So, you're the spirits Catrina mentioned before. You were using your magic to give life to that tree, aren't you?" Elaine asked.
"Yes, it was us. When Edna felt sad, we shared her sadness, so we needed the help of a Keyblade wielder. Of course, it was difficult to do so at first, but now thanks to you, her happiness and ours have returned. We spent the sad years fending off the Nightmares from the fir tree, but now thanks to you, the Nightmares have left for good," Chirithy said.
"That's good to know," Elaine said.
"Eevee," Maple said.
"Now, we will send you back to the present, Elaine. But before we do, I will tell you that you two will be the only beings in existence who will have the memories of the old timeline. The old timeline will now only exist in your memories while everything else remains unchanged," Chirithy said.
"Does that mean this pendent won't exist anymore since Edna still has hers?" Elaine asked.
"Yes, it does," Chirithy said. The pendent then gives off another shining light, almost blinding Elaine and Maple again. Elaine opened her eyes and she found herself at the train station again, but this time, not on the tracks this time. She and Maple stepped out and they saw the area looked even better than it did before.
"I guess Chirithy wasn't lying about things changing. It's even better than ever," Elaine said.
"Elaine!" A familiar voice called out. She and Maple saw Sora, Kairi, Chase, and their partners running up to her. It was Sora who called out to her. "About time we found you."
"The Master sent us to find you. It's your egg! It's gonna hatch!" Chase said.
"Yes, and mine, too!" Kairi said.
Elaine looked at her friends for a moment.
"Elaine, what's up?" Sora asked.
"It's nothing. I guess I was just too busy being excited, I lost track of time. Come on, let's go," Elaine said as she and Maple ran on ahead.
"What was that about?" Chase asked.
"I guess she's just super-excited," Kairi said.
Sora, Kairi, Chase, Pikachu, Angel, and Volt followed her back to the Pokémon Center. The eggs begins to hatch when a voice spoke.
"Well, well," an elderly man's voice spoke. Elaine turned to see Edna, Catrina, and the man who Elaine knew to be Jonathan. "It looks like we're just in time for the hatching. And it's not just one, but two Pokémon about to be born today."
"Yes, and you timed it perfectly," Nurse Joy said, smiling. It was like seeing a ghost for Elaine, but she had to keep her cool since she knew no one would believe her about traveling back in time. "Hey, Elaine, Kairi, that's Jonathan and Edna. They're Pokémon pediatricians."
"Is that so?" Elaine asked, pretending not to know.
"A pleasure," Jonathan said.
"The pleasure's ours," Kairi said.
"My, what a beautiful glow from each one of them. Do these belong to you two, dears?" Edna asked.
"Yes, this egg here is mine," Kairi said.
"And this one is mine," Elaine said.
"What are your names?" Edna asked.
"My name's Elaine," Elaine answered.
"And I'm Kairi," Kairi said.
"Elaine, Kairi. What lovely names," Edna said.
"Thanks," Elaine said.
"So, shall we get started? Edna, Catrina, standard procedure," Jonathan said.
"Right," Edna and Catrina said.
"Now, let's have a listen," Jonathan said, taking out a stethoscope and placed it on Kairi's eggs. He then has a listen on Elaine's egg. Both eggs have given off an even brighter glow before they eventually hatched. Kairi's egg has hatched into a Squirtle while Elaine's egg has hatched into a Bulbasaur.
"Look at that!" Chase said.
"A Squirtle and a Bulbasaur," Sora said.
"And judging by how hard the shell feels, this Squirtle is a healthy one. And this Bulbasaur has the healthiest-looking bulb I have ever seen," Jonathan said.
"Hi there, Squirtle. I've been waiting to meet you for a while," Kairi said.
"Squirtle," the newborn Squirtle said.
"Hi there, Bulbasaur. Welcome," Elaine greeted. The newborn Bulbasaur then charges at Elaine, showing what a toughie it was.
"Saur," the newborn Bulbasaur said.
"I guess your new Bulbasaur wants to test her new strength," Kairi said.
"My Bulbasaur's a girl, huh? Then what about your Squirtle?" Elaine asked.
"My Squirtle's a boy," Kairi said.
"You can tell that a Pokémon is a boy or a girl?" Catrina asked.
"Yeah, she can. She always had that talent since Pokémon are like people. It wasn't hard to do that with my Pikachu," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
That night, everyone stepped out.
"I know you'll do a wonderful job raising those adorable Pokémon," Edna said.
"Thank you, ma'am," Kairi said.
"That's very nice of you," Elaine said.
Chase looked on ahead and he went wide-eyed when he saw a flashing of different colors.
"Guys, look at that," Chase said.
"Look at what?" Rei asked. She then gasped when she saw it.
They all looked ahead and they saw the Spirit Dream Eaters dance around the fir tree.
"What are they?" Chase asked.
"I don't belive it," Kairi said.
"Are those what I think they are?" Sora asked.
"They are. Those are Spirit Dream Eaters," Rei said.
"Dream Eaters?" Elaine asked.
"Yes. Dream Eaters are creatures that come from the realm of sleep. It is the one place the Heartless will not enter. Though, it's unusual to see Dream Eaters outside the realm of sleep, but it's not impossible," Rei said.
"You said they were Spirit Dream Eaters. What are they supposed to do?" Elaine asked.
"Well, it's said that Spirit Dream Eaters are to protect those asleep from the Nightmare Dream Eaters and provide them with pleasant dreams. I never would have imagined these Dream Eaters would be using their magic to give life to a tree," Rei said.
"Whoa," Elaine said. She saw Chirithy who was among the dancing Spirits.
"You know, dear, we've been calling that the Lights of Joy for as long as I can recall," Edna said.
"And I can see why," Elaine said, smiling.
Thanks to the guidance of the Spirit Dream Eaters, Elaine and Maple has turned Edna's life for the best, allowing her to have a happily ever after. Elaine has learned that the power of love is so powerful, not even time has the power to stop it.
