Episode 358: The Porta Vista Contest!
Several days have passed since Ryuko's mother has returned and saved her from her unloving uncle. It was good news for Ventus that they'll continue to live next door to Ventus, so he got to see her whenever he wanted to. Ventus is still blushing from the kiss she gave him. Ryuko was happy about Ventus accepting her for who she is. She was no longer ashamed of being a half human and half weredragon.
It was now the day of the Porta Vista Pokémon Contest. Sora, Chase, Elaine, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Ryuko, Rei, Danny, Cattleya, Yuki, Elise, Pikachu, Angel, Volt, Maple, Sparky, Thor, and Eclair took their seats. Ryuko sat next to Ventus when they sat down. Cattleya holds Yuki in her arms.
"Welcome, one and all to our Pokémon Contest, taking place right here in the beautiful city of Porta Vista! As you may already know, five Contest Ribbons are required to enter the esteemed Grand Festival! And here is one of the Ribbons our Coordinators are here for!" Lillian announced as she held out a sun-yellow ribbon. "The gorgeous Porta Vista Ribbon!"
"If Kairi wins that, she'll have three Ribbons under her belt, right?" Cattleya asked.
"Exactly right, Aunt Cattleya," Sora said.
"The competition here is going to be fierce," Aqua said.
"Pikachu," Eclair said.
"Before we begin our Contest, allow me to introduce our panel of judges! The head of the judges, Mr. Contesta!" Lillian announced.
"I'm always pleased to be here!" Mr. Contesta said.
"The president of the Pokémon Fan Club, Mr. Suziko!" Lillian announced.
"Remarkable as always," Mr. Suziko said.
"And former Top Coordinator, Rumiko Nonaka!" Lillian announced.
"I'm looking forward to a great Contest," Rumiko said.
"And as for me, you can call me Lillian!" Lillian announced, making the crowd roar. "Glad to see you all getting excited, do let's see if we can get even more excited! Let's get this Contest underway for our first contestant! Meet Marcus!" Lillian announced as a dark skinned boy stepped out. He took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Exeggutor! I choose you!" Marcus called out. An Alolan Exeggutor emerged from inside. "Start things up with an Egg Bomb!" Exeggutor unleashed its Egg Bomb, making the egg-like projectiles fly out. "Now, use Stomping Tantrum!" Exeggutor begins to stomp on the stage, making the eggs rattle around.
"Exeggutor starts things off with Egg Bomb, followed by a Stomping Tantrum!" Lillian announced.
"Use Flamethrower!" Marcus ordered. Exeggutor fired a Flamethrower at the eggs, making them turn red from the flames.
"I can't seem to tell what he's up to with that trick, but I am suddenly getting a craving for some fried eggs!" Lillian announced.
"That looks pretty impressive. There aren't many Grass-type Pokémon that can use Fire-type moves like Flamethrower," Terra said.
"Since the Alolan Exeggutor is a Dragon-type, too, it makes sense for it to use Flamethrower," Aqua said.
"Alright, Exeggutor! Finish up with a Dragon Hammer!" Marcus ordered. Exeggutor moved its neck and brings its heads down, slamming the ground, making the eggs explode like they were fireworks.
"That was awesome beyond belief! Exeggutor just used its Dragon Hammer as a finisher and the eggs burst into dazzling sparkles! Let's see what the judges have to say," Lillian announced.
"It was an egguisite performance if you pardon the pun," Mr. Contesta said.
"Very remarkable!" Mr. Suziko said.
"It was one of the most creative use of Egg Bomb I have ever seen," Rumiko said.
"Now, let's see what else we got!" Lillian announced. There were performances that came and went. One was a Donphan that used Ice Fang while using Rollout. Another performance was a Wingull flying through some hoops. Another was a Typhlosion using its flames on its neck as a Blaziken is using Flame Charge all over the stage. Another was a Croconaw using an Ice Punch. It was now the turn of a girl with fair skin, green eyes, and black hair. She wore a red dress and pink shoes. "Up next, making her appearance is Mary Jane from Vermillion City! Let's see what she's got in store for us today!" Lillian announced as Mary Jane took out a Moon Ball and threw it.
"Clefable! I choose you!" Her Moon Ball opened and a Clefable emerged from inside as stars swirls around Clefable. This Clefable is a lighter shade of pink, but the ears are green. "Use Hidden Power!" Clefable creates green orbs and they orbit around its body like planets orbiting around the sun.
"Clefable starts things up with a Hidden Power! Looks so cosmic!" Lillian announced.
"Send it up into the air!" Mary Jane called out. Clefable sends its Hidden Power high up. The audience became captivated by what they were seeing.
"Clefable just sent Hidden Power straight up! What could she be planning?" Lillian asked.
"Use your Ice Beam!" Mary Jane ordered. Clefable fired Ice Beam right at its Hidden Power, freezing them. They then explode into frozen sparkles.
"That was cool, no pun intended! Clefable's Ice Beam adds to the finishing touches with its Hidden Power! Let's hear what the judges has to say!" Lillian announced.
"The use of Hidden Power and Ice Beam is a very creative display," Mr. Contesta said.
"Very remarkable," Mr. Suziko said.
"Absolutely beautiful!" Rumiko said.
Kairi has been watching from backstage and she was impressed by what she saw.
"Wow, that was amazing," Kairi said. Mary Jane then came back backstage. "Hey, that was one of the best performances I have ever seen."
"Thanks, but I'm winning that Ribbon. Just you wait," Mary Jane said.
"Now it's time for our next performance! Allow me to introduce you to Wade!" Lillian announced as a boy came to the stage. He wore a blue tropical shirt, white pants, and blue sandals. He took out a Dive Ball and threw it.
"Let's go! Psyduck!" Wade called out. A Shiny Psyduck came out of the Pokéball with a swirl of stars.
"Now, we have two Shiny Pokémon in one Pokémon Contest! It's a rarity to even have one Shiny Pokémon among us!" Lillian announced.
"Psyduck! Water Gun, followed by Confusion!" Wade ordered. Psyduck uses Water Gun and uses Confusion to make it into a double hoop.
"An awesomely amazing display!" Lillian announced.
"The Water Gun double hoop has definitely impressed me. Well done," Mr. Contesta said.
"Very remarkable," Mr. Suziko said.
"Very imaginative and fun use of those two moves!" Rumiko said.
A few more performances have come and gone as they were done by a Teddiursa, a Metapod, and a Hariyama.
"Kairi is up next, isn't she?" Ryuko asked.
"Yeah. They've saved the best for last," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Now, we have one more Coordinator who we have yet to see! Allow me to introduce you to our final Coordinator, Kairi!" Lillian announced as Kairi came to the stage with Togetic's Pokéball and threw it.
"Togetic! Go!" Kairi called out. Her Pokéball opened and her Togetic came out of his Pokéball. He flew all around in the air, much to everyone's amazement.
"That is one enthusiastic Togetic to make an entrance like that!" Lillian announced.
"Alright Togetic! Start things up with your Swift!" Kairi ordered. Togetic fired Swift right into the air." Now, use Fairy Wind!" Togetic flapped his wings and blew Fairy Wind, turning the stars pink. It was such an amazing sight to behold.
"Togetic makes a good start with that Swift and that Fairy Wind just made Togetic's Swift into pink sparkly stars!" Lillian announced.
"Aerial Ace!" Kairi ordered. Togetic flew around, making the pink stars follow him into the sky. It was absolutely incredible. The audience were in complete awe.
"Now, Togetic is using its Aerial Ace to make those stars follow it around! We are in for quite a show!" Lillian announced.
"Fly into a circle!" Togetic flew around into a circle, making a pink ring. The crowd was captivated by what they were seeing.
"Now, Togetic is flying around in a circle! Togetic is moving so fast, I think I'm getting dizzy just by watching!" Lillian announced.
"Use Last Resort!" Togetic's body became outlined in a golden aura, with orbs of energy being absorbed into its body. The golden aura then forms into a massive star in front of Togetic's body and is fired at the center of the ring, making a sparkly explosion. The audience cheered hard for Kairi and Togetic.
"And Kairi makes a sparkling finale with that Last Resort!" Lillian announced.
"That was one of the most fantastic performances I have ever seen. I simply couldn't take my eyes off of Togetic," Contesta said.
"Remarkable!" Suziko said.
"It was pretty and cute at the same time. Togetic is a natural born flier despite being a Flying-type Pokémon!" Rumiko said.
"And that concludes the appeals round of the Porta Vista Pokémon Contest! Now, we will have a brief recess to determine who will be advancing to the second round, so don't go away, those who are watching us on TV!" Lillian announced.
Backstage, Kairi feeds Togetic some Pokémon food as Wade approaches her.
"Hey, that was an awesome performance you did out there," Wade said.
"Thanks. I was impressed by your performance, too," Kairi said.
"Togeti," Togetic said.
"Thanks. I honestly hope you get in the next round, because I would like to see you in action," Wade said.
"The results are in!" Lillian announced on the screen. Everyone looked to see who made it in. "And these eight Coordinators are counted in, so here they all are!" Kairi, Mary Jane, Wade, and Marcus are among the eight Coordinators who made it to the finals of the Pokémon Contest. "And now to arrange the battles and who will be up against who!" The computer randomized the matches. Mary Jane will be first, Marcus will be second, Wade will be third, and Kairi is fourth.
"Wow, we made it," Wade said.
"You only made it in because you got lucky. I'm going to win this Contest and I'm entering the Grand Festival, and leave you losers in the dust!" Mary Jane said.
"We're still a long way from the Grand Festival," Kairi said.
"Whatever," Mary Jane scoff as she gave off a snooty laugh.
The second round is about to begin as the first battle is about to begin.
"How does a Contest battle work, Ven?" Ryuko asked.
"Well, both Coordinators has their Pokémon battle each other. The battle goes on for five minutes, and they take each other's points out as much as they can before the timer runs out," Ventus said.
"That's right, Ven. Whichever Coordinator has the most points before time runs out or when a Pokémon is unable to battle, wins," Sora said.
Mary Jane and her opponent have taken their positions for the battle. Mary Jane is up against a boy wearing a baseball cap.
"It is now time for the second round of the Porta Vista Pokémon Contest to begin! On my left, it's Franklin, and on my right, it's Mary Jane! To those who are new to the world of Pokémon Contests, the Contest battles will be five minutes each, and whoever has the most points before the timer reaches zero will be the winner! Which one will it be? Let's run the clock and see!" Lillian announced as the clock starts running. Franklin took out his Pokéball and threw it.
"Zigzagoon! I choose you!" Franklin ordered. His Pokéball opened and his Zigzagoon emerged from inside. Mary Jane took out her Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Kangaskhan!" Mary Jane called out. Her Pokéball opened and a Kangaskhan emerged from inside.
"Whoa! A Kangaskhan," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Let's see," Chase said, taking out his Rotom Phone and scanned her.

Kangaskhan carries its child into its pouch and keeps a watchful on on it. Kangaskhan attacks anything that gets too close.
"Zigzagoon! Use Pin Missile!" Franklin ordered. Zigzagoon fired Pin Missile at Kangaskhan, but it does little damage, and it cuts little of Mary Jane's points.
"Kangaskhan! Use your Hyper Beam!" Mary Jane ordered. Kangaskhan fired Hyper Beam at the Tiny Raccoon Pokémon, dealing some heavy damage, much to Franklin's dismay. It cuts a large portion of Franklin's points and results in a knockout with just one hit.
"I wasn't expecting that to happen, but Zigzagoon is unable to battle and Kangaskhan wins!" Lillian announced.
"Wow. Zigzagoon never stood a chance," Terra said.
"How could Zigzagoon lose so fast?" Ryuko asked.
"Because Kangaskhan was at a much higher level than Zigzagoon was. And that Hyper Beam was just brutal," Terra said.
The next battle is between Marcus and a girl. She wore a yellow dress and yellow sandals.
"Up next, is Marcus, and battling Marcus is Sunny! Begin the battle and run the clock!" Lillian called out as the clock started to run. Marcus took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Gengar!" Marcus called out.
"Sunflora! I choose you!" Sunny called out.
Both Gengar and Sunflora emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Okay, Gengar! Start up with Will-O-Wisp, followed by Dark Pulse!" Marcus ordered. Sunflora starts up with Will-O-Wisp and fired a Dark Pulse, mixing in the flames.
"Wow! Gengar is mixing in Will-O-Wisp and Dark Pulse! Gives it an eerie aura to it!" Lillian announced.
"Sunflora! Dodge it and use your Petal Dance!" Sunny ordered. Sunflora dodged Gengar's combo Will-O-Wisp and Dark Pulse and unleashed a Petal Dance, hitting Gengar on the mark. It cuts into Marcus's points.
"Sunflora pushes back by letting out a beautiful Petal Dance!" Lillian announced.
"Gengar! Use Psychic!" Marcus ordered. Gengar uses Psychic on Sunflora's Petal Dance. "Send it back!" Gengar sends Sunflora's Petal Dance back at the sunflower-like Pokémon, dealing some heavy damage. That cuts into Sunny's points.
"Gengar pushes back with a Psychic!" Lillian announced.
"Now, use your Shadow Claw!" Marcus ordered. Gengar lands a Shadow Claw, dealing some additional damage onto Sunny's points.
"We're coming down to three minutes! Can Sunny hope to mount a comeback before the timer runs out?" Lillian asked.
"Sunflora! Use your Energy Ball!" Sunny ordered. Sunflora fired its Energy Ball at the Shadow Pokémon.
"Use Shadow Claw to send it back!" Marcus ordered. Gengar swipes at Sunflora's Energy Ball like a hand battling a beach ball.
Gengar just pasts it away like a beach ball!" Lillian announced, and I just said that!
"Dodge it!" Sunny called out. Sunflora's Energy Ball came too fast and lands a heavy hit onto Sunflora.
"Sunflora was struck by its own Energy Ball, and Sunny's points suffers for it!" Lillian announced.
"Petal Dance!" Sunny ordered. Sunflora unleashed another Petal Dance at Gengar.
"Use Will-O-Wisp on the Petal Dance!" Marcus ordered. Gengar sends out Will-O-Wisp, burning the flower petals.
"One minute warning! It looks like Marcus is going to win this one!" Lillian announced.
"Use your Dazzling Gleam!" Sunny ordered. Sunflora unleashed a Dazzling Gleam and sends it at Gengar.
"Thirty seconds on the clock and Sunflora is sending out a Dazzling Gleam!" Lillian announced.
"Psychic!" Marcus ordered. Gengar uses Psychic to block Dazzling Gleam and sends it back at Sunflora. It's now fifteen seconds.
"Energy Ball!" Sunny ordered. Sunflora fired Energy Ball at Gengar.
"Sunflora is making one last effort to turn this around! Ten seconds remaining!" Lillian announced. Sunflora fired Energy Ball at Gengar. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. "Time! The winner is Marcus! He'll be moving on to the semifinals!" The crowd cheered.
"Great job, Gengar!" Marcus said.
"Gengar!" Gengar said, smiling.
A few moments later, Wade is up against a young man wearing sunglasses.
"Next is Wade versus Kevin! Let's begin!" Lillian announced as the clock starts running. They each took out a Pokéball. They threw their Pokéballs.
"Go for it, Farfetch'd!" Wade called out.
"I choose you, Heracross!" Kevin called out.
A Farfetch'd and a Heracross came out to battle.
"Heracross! Start things up with your Focus Punch!" Kevin ordered. Heracross begins to build up its focus and then rushes at the Wild Duck Pokémon with a punch attack.
"Heracross begins with a Focus Punch! How will Wade's Farfetch'd respond?" Lillian asked.
"Farfetch'd! Focus Energy and then, Slash!" Wade ordered. Farfetch'd begins to build up its own focus and then slashed at the Single Horn Pokémon with its leek. That costs Kevin a handful of points.
"Farfetch'd didn't hesitate with that attack! It gave a brutal, but styling Slash with its leek!" Lillian announced.
"Heracross! Use Stone Edge!" Kevin ordered. Heracross sends out Stone Edge at the Wild Duck Pokémon.
"Here comes Heracross's Stone Edge!" Lillian announced.
"Farfetch'd! Aerial Ace!" Wade ordered. Farfetch'd dashed at Heracross, dealing some heavy damage. Kevin loses more of his points.
"Not only it uses Aerial Ace to avoid those rocks, but it lands a direct hit onto Heracross! And Kevin's points takes a nose dive for it!" Lillian announced.
"Farfetch'd! Rush at Heracross with Acrobatics!" Kevin ordered. Farfetch'd uses its agile ability to jump around and then lands right on Heracross.
"We've reached three minutes on the clock!" Lillian announced.
"Heracross! Megahorn!" Kevin ordered. Heracross rushes at Farfetch'd with a Megahorn.
"Heracross comes at Farfetch'd with a Megahorn!" Lillian announced.
"Aerial Ace!" Wade ordered. Farfetch'd darts at Heracross with an Aerial Ace. "Use Slash!" Farfetch'd swipes its leek at Heracross.
"Farfetch'd lands a brutal Slash onto Heracross!" Lillian announced as Heracross fell to the ground, beaten. "Oh, too bad! Heracross is unable to battle, ans Wade and his Farfetch'd has earned the third spot for the semifinals! Let's move on with the fourth battle!" A few moments later, Kairi enters the battlefield and she's up against a young man in glasses.
"Look, there's Kairi," Ryuko said.
"Let's all cheer hard for Kairi, everyone," Cattleya said.
"You've said it, hun! Let's go, Kairi, let's go!" Danny said, clapping his hands. Cattleya has Yuki clapping as well.
"Now, it's time to see who has earned the right to enter the Porta Vista Pokémon Contest finals! Will it be Percy or will it be Kairi? Only one way to find out! Here we go!" Lillian announced as the clock begins to run. Kairi and Percy took out their Pokéballs and threw them.
"Flareon! Go!" Kairi called out.
"Let's go, Grimer!" Percy called out.
Both Flareon and Grimer emerged from inside, ready to go.
"Flareon! Fire Spin!" Kairi ordered. Flareon unleashed a Fire Spin. The flame spirals around.
"Flareon begins with a beautiful Fire Spin!" Lillian announced.
"Use Minimize!" Percy ordered. Grimer shrinks down to a tiny size, making Flareon's Fire Spin miss. It costs Kairi a little of her points.
"Oh, Grimer saves itself with a Minimize! Kairi has lost a little bit of her points for it!" Lillian announced.
"Keep your focus, Flareon. Just concentrate your attack and you can hit Grimer without a problem," Kairi said. Flareon nodded. "Now, use Flamethrower!" Flareon builds up focus and then fired a Flamethrower, hitting the Sludge Pokémon.
"Flareon managed to hit Grimer despite being so tiny!" Lillian announced.
"Okay, Grimer! Use Mud Bomb!" Percy ordered. Grimer fired a Mud Bomb at Flareon.
"Dodge it!" Kairi called out. Flareon tried to dodge, but got hit bad by Grimer's Mud Bomb.
"Kairi loses some more of her points with that Mud Bomb! Good choice to use against a Fire-type such as Flareon!" Lillian announced.
"Flareon! Use Fire Spin, but send it all around!" Kairi ordered. Flareon sends out a Fire Spin, sending it at Grimer, landing a hit. Grimer ends up trapped in the fire vortex.
"Uh-oh! Grimer is trapped by that Fire Spin!" Lillian announced.
"Use Fire Fang!" Kairi ordered. Flareon rushed at Grimer with a Fire Fang. Flareon lands a feiry bite, dealing some heavy damage. Grimer was knocked out.
"Grimer is unable to battle, and the winner is Kairi, earning her the fourth spot in the semifinals!" Lillian announced.
"Way to go, Kairi!" Sora said, cheering for his girlfriend.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Eevee, vee!" Angel said.
It was now time for the finals, so Mary Jane and Marcus are about to have their battle.
"Now, it is time for the finals to begin. To my left is Marcus and to my right is Mary Jane! Only one of these two will be moving onto the final round of the Porta Vista Pokémon Contest! Start the clock!" Lillian announced as the clock starts running. Mary Jane and Marcus took out their Pokéballs and threw them.
"Go! Kangaskhan!" Mary Jane called out.
"I choose you, Gengar!" Marcus called out.
Both Kangaskhan and Gengar came out to battle.
"Kangaskhan! Use Mega Punch!" Mary Jane ordered. Kangaskhan came at Gengar with a Mega Punch.
"Your brain must be lacking function capabilities! Normal-type moves won't even touch Ghost-type Pokémon like my Gengar!" Marcus said.
"Normally, yes, but you're in for a surprise," Mary Jane said. Kangaskhan lands a powerful punch onto Gengar, much to his dismay. Marcus loses his points in the process.
"Kangaskhan just landed a hit onto Marcus's points with that Mega Punch!" Lillian announced.
"Wait a second. Did Mega Punch just land a hit on a Ghost-type? I thought Normal-type moves don't affect Ghost-types," Chase pointed out.
"Normally, they don't. Kangaskhan must have the ability called Scrappy," Terra said.
"What's Scrappy?" Chase asked.
"Scrappy is an ability that allows Normal and Fighting-type attacks being able to hit Ghost-type Pokémon. It's not quite so often that you come across a Pokémon with that ability," Terra said.
"That means that Hyper Beam will definitely land a hit onto Gengar," Sora said.
"Gengar! Use Will-O-Wisp!" Marcus ordered. Gengar sends out Will-O-Wisp right at the Parent Pokémon.
"Use Hyper Beam!" Mary Jane ordered. Kangaskhan fired Hyper Beam right at Gengar, landing some heavy damage and taking Marcus's points in the process.
"Kangaskhan blasted Gengar with an awesome Hyper Beam!" Lillian announced.
"Since Kangaskhan used Hyper Beam, she isn't going to attack again right away," Ventus said.
"Pikachu," Sparky said.
"Gengar! Use Dark Pulse!" Marcus ordered. Taking advantage of Kangaskhan's inability to attack after using Hyper Beam. This cuts Mary Jane's points. "Use Psychic!" Gengar uses Psychic on Kangaskhan, cutting more of Mary Jane's points.
"It looks like Marcus is making a comeback with Dark Pulse and Psychic!" Lillian announced.
"Kangaskhan! Power-Up Punch!" Mary Jane ordered. Kangaskhan lands a Power-Up Punch, onto Gengar, building up her attack power.
"We're down to three minutes left! Which one will still be in it?" Lillian asked.
"Grab Gengar and use Hyper Beam!" Mary Jane ordered. Kangaskhan grabbed Gengar and fired Hyper Beam, hitting Gengar on the mark. Gengar was knocked out.
"And Gengar it out! Mary Jane is moving on in the final round!" Lillian announced.
"I'm one more win away from earning that Contest Ribbon," Mary Jane said.
A few moments later, Kairi and Wade enters the battlefield, ready to start the battle.
"Good luck in our battle, Kairi," Wade said.
"Thanks. I feel the same way, Wade. Just do your best," Kairi said.
"I only ask you do the same thing," Wade said.
"Now, we have our next battle! We have Wade and Kairi! Only one of these two will be in the final match, so let's find out which one will make it in! Let's run the clock!" Lillian announced as the clock starts running. Kairi and Wade took out their Pokéballs and threw them.
"Farfetch'd! Go!" Wade called out.
"Showtime, Flareon!" Kairi called out.
Both Flareon and Farfetch'd came out to battle.
"Flareon! Use Flamethrower!" Kairi ordered. Flareon fired a Flamethrower right at the Wild Duck Pokémon.
"Use Acrobatics!" Wade ordered. Farfetch'd uses its acrobatic moves to avoid Flareon's Flamethrower, costing Kairi some of her points.
"Farfetch'd makes good use of its agility with its Acrobatics!" Lillian announced.
"Use Fire Spin!" Kairi ordered. Flareon fired a Fire Spin at Farfetch'd, catching the Wild Duck Pokémon in the vortex.
"Flareon just landed a successful hit onto its opponent with that Fire Spin! It cuts into Wade's points!" Lillian announced.
"Fire Spin again, and use Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Flareon fired a Fire Spin and does a Quick Attack. Flareon's Fire Spin spirals around the Flame Pokémon.
"Wow! Flareon is using its Fire Spin with a Quick Attack, making an awesome and beautiful combo! Truly breathtaking!" Lillian announced.
"How pretty," Ryuko said, awestruck.
"Yeah. Kairi's been practicing with that one for a while," Ventus said.
"Farfetch'd! Aerial Ace!" Wade ordered. Farfetch'd dashed at Flareon and the two Pokémon collide with each other, dealing some damage onto each other. Both Coordinators have lost some points.
"Flareon and Farfetch'd are giving it everything they've got! Not one of them is giving in!" Lillian announced. The clock reads three minutes.
"Use Slash!" Wade ordered. Farfetch'd came at Flareon with a Slash.
"Dodge and use Fire Fang!" Kairi ordered. Flareon dodged Farfetch'd's Slash and lands a feiry bite onto Wild Pokémon. Wade loses some of his points.
"Flareon lands a beautiful Fire Fang onto Farfetch'd! And we're on the one minute mark!" Lillian announced.
"Okay, Farfetch'd! Focus Energy and then, Slash!" Wade ordered. Farfetch'd begins to build up focus and then came at Flareon with its leek.
"Dodge and use Fire Spin!" Kairi ordered. Flareon fired a Fire Spin. Farfetch'd slashes through Flareon's Fire Spin and lands a Slash onto Flareon.
"And Farfetch'd lands a clean hit with Slash!" Lillian announced.
"Use Quick Attack and Fire Fang!" Kairi ordered. Flareon ran with Quick Attack with a Fire Fang. The Flame Pokémon came at Farfetch'd with a Fire Fang. The Wild Duck Pokémon. The timer runs out.
"Time's up! And the winner is..." Lillian announced as the scoreboard shows Kairi has a little more points than Wade. "...Kairi!" The crowd cheered on.
"It looks like Kairi is up against Mary Jane," Aqua said.
Backstage, Mary Jane watched on and she scoffed.
"She got lucky," Mary Jane said.
"Luck nothing, MJ. You're going down," Percy said.
"Oh, you think so? You lost to her, you four-eyed loser," Mary Jane said.
"And that's another thing. We're tired of you talking down on us and belittling us!" Percy said.
"Yeah! You made me cry, and I didn't like it!" Sunny said.
"We're all gonna be rooting for Kairi!" Marcus said.
"Yeah!" The other Coordinators said.
"You can say what you want, but nothing you say can make me lose my cool," Mary Jane said.
A few moments later, Kairi and Mary Jane got ready for the final battle of the Porta Vista Pokémon Contest.
"And now, we're here in the final round of the Porta Vista Pokémon Contest! Only one of these young Coordinators will walk away a winner in this Pokémon Contest!" Lillian announced.
"And that's going to be me," Mary Jane said.
"What's with you?" Kairi asked.
"I'm just going to say, I'm going to win this Contest and earn my next Ribbon. You may have won the Hoenn Grand Festival, but that means nothing to me," Mary Jane said.
"We're going to have to see about that," Kairi said. Kairi and Mary Jane took their positions for the battle.
"Now, let the final match begin!" Lillian announced as the clock begins to run. Kairi and Mary Jane took out their Pokéballs and threw them.
"Go! Kangaskhan!" Mary Jane called out.
"Showtime, Flareon!" Kairi called out. Both Pokémon came out to battle. "Use Fire Spin!" Flareon fired Fire Spin at Kangaskhan.
"Use your Hyper Beam!" Mary Jane ordered.
Flareon and Kangaskhan fired their chosen attacks, colliding with each other, holding their attacks.
"Flareon and Kangaskhan are holding on with Hyper Beam and Fire Spin! Talking about a clash of power!" Lillian announced. An explosion occurred as both Pokémon took some damage, cutting both of their points. "Kairi and Mary Jane has lost some of their points in the process!"
"Use your Fire Fang!" Kairi ordered. Flareon rushed at Kangaskhan landing a feiry bite onto the Parent Pokémon, earning a burn status. Mary Jane loses some of her points, much to her annoyance.
"Flareon lands a successful hit with that Fire Fang! And it looks like Kangaskhan is now burned!" Lillian announced. Mary Jane growled.
"Why that little brat! How dare she do that to my Kangaskhan! Use Power-Up Punch!" Mary Jane ordered. Kangaskhan came at Flareon with Power-Up Punch.
"Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Flareon dodged Kangaskhan's attack and beans her in the chest.
"Flareon makes good use of its speed!" Lillian announced.
"Flamethrower!" Kairi ordered. Flareon fired Flamethrower right at Kangaskhan.
"Dodge and use Mega Punch!" Mary Jane ordered. Kangaskhan managed to dodge Flareon's Flamethrower and lands a Mega Punch, making Kairi lose some of her points. Kangaskhan is hurt by the burning.
"Kangaskhan lands a powerful punch with that Mega Punch, but its burning is taking its toll onto Kangaskhan!" Lillian announced as the clock reads three minutes.
"Flareon! Use Fire Spin!" Kairi ordered. Flareon fired Fire Spin, trapping Kangaskhan in a feiry vortex.
"Now, Kangaskhan is trapped in that Fire Spin! Mary Jane is going to last long of this keeps up!" Lillian announced.
"Kangaskhan! Power-Up Punch!" Mary Jane ordered. Kangaskhan managed to move through the flaming vortex to land Power-Up Punch onto Flareon.
"Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Flareon dashed at Kangaskhan with Quick Attack, landing a hit. "Use Flamethrower!" Flareon fired a Flamethrower, hitting Kangaskhan on the mark.
"Kangaskhan is really feeling that Flamethrower! We're only a minute away from concluding this Contest!" Lillian announced.
"Kangaskhan! Grab Flareon and use Hyper Beam!" Mary Jane ordered.
"I don't think so! Flareon! Quick Attack and Fire Fang!" Kairi ordered. Flareon uses Quick Attack and Fire Fang, using the combo against her. "Now, use Quick Attack and Flamethrower!" Flareon uses Flamethrower on himself and dashed at Kangaskhan, dealing some more damage to Mary Jane's points.
"Flareon just used a combo Quick Attack and Fire Fang, followed by a Quick Attack and Flamethrower! Kairi is really on fire, no pun intended!" Lillian announced as thirty seconds remains.
"Screw it! Hyper Beam now!" Mary Jane ordered. Kangaskhan fired a Hyper Beam at Flareon, hoping to finish him off.
"Jump, Flareon!" Kairi called out. Flareon jumped out of the way in time. The clock now reads ten seconds. Nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one!
"Time's up! And the winner is Kairi and her passionate Flareon!" Lillian announced. The crowd cheered as Sora gave a hi-five to Chase. Ventus and Ryuko hugged each other as Danny, Cattleya, Elise, Terra, Aqua, and Yuki clapped their hands.
"I don't believe it! I lost to some dorky redhead!" Mary Jane exclaimed. She glared hatefully at Kairi. "Savor your victory, little girl. I'll get you next time!"
Kairi stood before the judges as she is presented her third Contest Ribbon. Togetic and Flareon are right beside her.
"Now, the winner of the Contest, Kairi will be presented the lovely Porta Vista Ribbon!" Lillian announced as Mr. Contesta presents Kairi her Ribbon.
"Congratulations, Kairi. You were truly amazing today. The way you handled your Pokémon today will inspire a new generation of Pokémon Coordinators," Contesta said. Kairi accepts her third Ribbon.
"Thank you. I'll do my best to earn my next Ribbon," Kairi said.
"We will now bring the Porta Vista Pokémon Contest to a close, but be sure to join us again at our next Contest! Until we meet again, this is Lillian! See you next time!" Lillian announced.
Once the Pokémon Contest had ended Kairi has rejoined the group.
"That was an incredible job, Kairi. I can see why you won the Grand Festival in Hoenn, Kairi," Danny said.
"You were even better in person than on TV," Cattleya said.
"Thank you, both. I appreciate it," Kairi said.
"Now, you just need to earn two more Contest Ribbons to enter the Kanto Grand Festival," Elise said.
"You're right, Elise. And I know I'm going to work hard to earn those Ribbons," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"How about we head for the restaurant and celebrate. Big Earl is probably firing up the grill as we speak," Danny said.
With that said, the group arrived to the restaurant with the entire staff and Ryuko's mother being present. Big Earl has prepared some delicious hamburgers for everyone.
