The group took their provision for what could be a movie marathon. For now, though, it was just Murder House. Since there wasn't enough space on the couch for everyone, Silver and Blaze insisted on laying on the rug in front of the couch instead. They both shared a large bowl of popcorn and had their cup of preferred soda. Amy, Sonic, and Surge stayed on the couch, with Amy sitting in between. Amy and Surge had their bowl of popcorn and soda, while Sonic just had a cup of soda. "Ok, everyone set?" Sonic asked. Everyone else put a thumbs up to signal they were ready. "And away we go." Sonic said, as he started the movie. The movie began with a fade-in scene of a news reporter reporting a string of unsolved cases of kids being kidnapped. Amy moved her bowl of popcorn to Sonic to see if he wanted some. "I'm good, thanks." Sonic whispered. "No problem." Amy responded.

"I think that should do for now." Kit thought to himself. Kit had sketched a rough model of the new Dynamo Cage with all dimensions measured. He wasn't satisfied with what he had, but this was the first time he had ever worked on a project this complex. "The next step would probably be to see how how it would function and where the components would go." Kit thought to himself. It started to dawn upon Kit how difficult the task he was given. Surge made it sound so easy that he didn't give it a second thought. With the added problems of lack of resources, keeping the project from being discovered, and any other unforeseen future hiccups, this project may take a lot longer than Surge might like. Regardless, Surge believed he could do it, so he will. "I'll continue this tomorrow. Let's see what movie Surge is watching at the dorms." Kit said. Kit rolled up his paper and placed it in his right hand. Kit looked over at Tails at the opposite corner of the workshop. Tails was hard at work on his own projects. After Surge left, Tails said he was backed up on orders from the one day off he took. Since then, Tails had been hard at work in his own little gear world. Tails were so focused that Kit was able to continue his sketches without fear of being discovered. If every evening were like this, Kit would be able to work until he reached the stage where he would have to build the project. But, that is a problem for a future time. "Goodnight, Tails!" Kit said to Tails. "Night." Tails responded.
Kit began walking back to the dorm. Despite being out of the workshop, all that was on Kit's mind was the project. His mind was racing on where he had left off and to improve what he had already sketched. The more he thought about it, the more he started to respect Dr. Eggman for his intelligence. Before Kit knew it, he was already in front of his dorm. He entered the door and saw the group watching a horror movie. "Ayyy there he is. Long time no see Kit." Sonic said, looking over the Couch after pausing the movie. "It's about time you showed up, we're already at the part where the teens are at the killers house." Surge said. "Sorry about that. I was busy at the workshop." Kit said. "Hey, the fact that you remembered to come here is enough for me. I'm guessing Tails is still there?" Sonic said. "Yea, he is." Kit said. "See? You're already doing better than him. There's nothing wrong with taking a brake from work." Sonic said. "Right." Kit said. "Is that part of the project in your hand? Can I see it? I bet it looks wicked cool! " Sonic asked. "It's uh...private. It's a surprise for someone and I don't want to risk it." Kit said. "Oh. My bad. Anyway, we'll wait for you to get back." Sonic said. "Thanks." Kit said, as he quickly jogged down the hallway. "Is there really a point in pausing the movie if he wasn't here in the beginning?" Surge asked. "I don't know, he's your closest friend. I was just being nice is all. " Sonic said.
"Either way, Now would be a good time for a bathroom brake." Blaze said, getting up from the rug and stretching. "Getting more popcorn wouldn't hurt too. This movie is longer than I thought." Silver said, getting up from the rug as well. "While you guys do that, I'll check on the little quirt." Surge said, getting up and walking to her dorm. Everyone else got up to use the bathroom, get more snacks, or stretch. Surge entered her dorm to find Kit stuffing his project under the bed. "How goes it?" Surge asked. "Can I tell you something?" Kit asked, with a hint of shame. "Just spit it out." Surge said. "This might take a little longer than I thought. There's so much things to account for." Kit said. "Well duh, I know it will take long. I don't expect it by next week." Surge said. Kit felt a wave of relief wash over him. "If you were to guess, how long would it take?" Surge asked. "If everything goes perfectly, two months. If were talking about the average time, three months and a half." Kit said. "That's...that's definitely a long time." Surge said. "If I had my own space and resources then I would be able to finish it sooner than two months. But, you are asking me to create something very complex in our enemie's base. It will be difficult to work and not get noticed." Kit said. "Fine. Just keep working on it. Let's head back to the movie. I really want to see what happens next." Surge said, walking out of the dorm room.
The two re-entered the common room. Silver was microwaving more popcorn in the kitchen while Sonic was flicking through his Scroll on the couch again. "Where's the other two?" Surge asked. "Bathroom." Sonic responded. Surge walked into the kitchen and saw some bowls of popcorn already refilled. "I've probably made more than needed, so take as much as you like." Silver said. Surge took two bowls and returned to the common. Surge gave one to Kit and kept one for herself. "There's soda too. Feel free to help yourself." Sonic said. Surge intentionally took Amy's spot and sat next to Sonic. Sonic didn't seem to care and continued going through his Scroll. "What movie is this?" Kit said, sitting in front of the couch with his legs crossed. "Murder House. It's about a mass child kidnapper and murderer who never got caught and went into hiding. Right now we're at the part of the movie where a group of teens enter the supposed house of where the alleged kidnapper and murderer lived." Silver explained, exiting the kitchen. "That sounds dumb. Why would they do that?" Kit responded. "The teens thought it would be a good idea to spice up their Halloween holiday. It's a movie after all." Silver said, sitting next to Kit. "And, we'll know what will happen next if those two finish in the bathroom. Seriously, what's taking them so long?" Surge said.
Surge noticed Sonic had been on his Scroll for pretty much this whole time. The only time he wasn't on his Scroll was when the movie was playing. "Watcha doing on there anyway?" Surge asked. "huh? Oh, just messaging other peeps." Sonic said. "About what?" Surge lightly pressed. "Other operation, future projects, hanging out, and texting just to text." Sonic said. "So, you're like a Celebrity, huh?" Surge teased. "Nah, It's mostly my friends that I'm messaging." Sonic said. "Oh, ok." Surge said. "By the way, what did Josh say to you again?" Sonic asked, completely stopping what he was doing on his Scroll. Surge could hear footsteps coming from the hallway and figured it was Blaze and Amy returning. "Later, right now I want to know what happens next in this movie." Surge said.
"Relax, we're right here." Blaze said, entering through the hallway with Amy. "There's more popcorn in the kitchen if you two want." Silver said. "I've had enough, thanks." Blaze said, sitting next to Silver. Amy helped herself to another bowl of popcorn. It was when she returned she noticed Surge sitting in her spot, next to Sonic. Surge caught Amy's glare from her peripheral vision. "Ummm. You're sitting in my spot, Surge." Amy said. "No assigned seats. Besides, everyone else is in a different spot except Sonic. And, that's only because he was the only one who didn't get up." Surge said, with a grin on her face. Amy looked at Sonic for his input to be only met with him still being occupied on his Scroll. Amy couldn't tell if Surge was doing this intentionally or not. Either way, she didn't want to make a scene and decided to sit on the opposite end of the couch from Sonic. Sonic pressed play on the remote, and the movie continued. The group of teens in the movie were in the middle of a talk on how to turn the power on in the house. "Hey, can I have some? I was too lazy to get up and get my own." Sonic whispered to Surge, pointing at her bowl of popcorn. "Knock yourself out. Just don't take too much." Surge whispered back. "Thanks." Sonic whispered as he took a handful of popcorn from Surge.
The movie played as the six viewers watched on. In scenes where there were jump scares, Sonic and Surge were at the edge of their seat, enjoying the dump of adrenaline they were getting. At the same time, the rest of the group made their best attempt to look away or mentally brace themselves. The movie ended with the killer being defeated by the last surviving teen. "Best movie EVER!" Surge screamed out. "I mean, it was the only movie you ever saw." Kit commented. "What was that?" Surge said, staring down at Kit. "Nothing!" Kit said, quickly. "Another movie!" Surge said. "What time is it?" Silver asked. "It's 2230. We started around 2045." Sonic said, after checking his Scroll. "The night is still young. I'm ok with one more movie." Blaze said. "I can watch another movie. As long as it's not another Horror film." Amy said. "Agreed." Blaze said. "Fine." Surge said, with her arms crossed. "How about we choose what movie to watch next and we cant take a quick brake afterwards." Sonic proposed. Everyone agreed on that plan. The group browsed and debated on a few movies to watch until one caught Silver's eye. "How about that one! Rogue Agent: Conviction." Silver said. Sonic browsed to the movie mentioned to see the description. "After he left the agency, Dark Comet and disappeared, special agent Michael Godwinson was mysteriously contact by a former Dark Comet agent, Blake. Blake informed Michael that his daughters death was faked and that she was still alive. Michael re-enters the life of a special agent to learn the truth while also saving his country." Silver said, reading the description of the movie.
"I'm down to watch that." Sonic said. "I'm ok with that." Amy said. "Special agent? Sounds interesting." Blaze said. "Majority rules. I guess we can watch it." Surge said, ultimately defeated from not watching another horror movie. "Ok. I'm going to head out to stretch my legs real quick." Sonic said, getting up for the first time since the event started and heading out. Everyone else got up to either use the bathroom, get more snacks, or talk with each other. Surge stayed on the couch so as to not give up her seat. That was until she received a message from Sonic on her Scroll. "Come outside." The message read. Surge got up and walked out of the dorm. As soon as she walked out, she was immediately face to face with Sonic. "What did Josh tell you." Sonic asked, with his arms crossed. "You'd think you would've asked him yourself already if you really wanted to know." Surge said. Sonic remained quiet. "Wait...was that who you were texting this entire time? Haha, no way! And from the looks of it he probably told you to ask me yourself." Surge said, having a kick out of the situation. "Are you going to tell me or are you just going to waste my time." Sonic said. "Like I said, All he told me was to be more respectful in general so I don't hurt you're reputation." Surge said, only telling half of it. "Is that all he said?" Sonic said, practically interrogating Surge. "That's all he said...Unless, you were expecting to hear something else?" Surge said, smirking. Sonic looked into Surge's eyes before entering the dorm.
Surge didn't entirely understand what had just happened, but she felt good about having some control over the conversation. "Hey, are you alright." A familiar female voice said. Surge turned to see Sesamie with a look of concern on her face. "Yea. I'm fine. What are you doing out here?" Surge asked. "I was going home from my friends house. Looked like you were in trouble just now." Sesamie said. "Trust me. I'm fine." Surge said. "Well what happened? If that's ok to ask." Sesamie asked. Surge thought about telling Sesamie about the situation. Surge decided to briefly fill Sesamie in on the situation on her first days in the Resistance, what Josh told her after the operation, and what happened between her and Sonic just moments ago. "Ah, ok. I thought something worse was going on, sorry." Sesamie. "So, what are your thoughts on it?" Surge asked. "From what you told me so far, it seems like Sonic likes you." Sesamie said bluntly.
"Haha good one. But, seriously what do you think?" Surge said, dismissing Sesamie's opinion. "I'm being serious. It sounds like Josh was trying to say, Sonic is helping you because he likes you. The fact that he started acting nervous once you told him that you spoke with Josh and something's may have been said, kind of proves it. Josh was probably teasing him on what he actually talked you about which caused Sonic to press you a bit on what was said." Sesamie explained. "That's what you got from what I told you?" Surge asked. "This is your run of the mill relationship drama. I've seen, heard, and been through this a couple of times. And I don't have much of a reason to lie to you." Sesamie said. Surge couldn't argue with that. But... that means. "He likes me?" Surge softly said to herself. "Do you like him back?" Sesamie asked. "No!" Surge blurted out. "...Very convincing. If you actually don't like him, then just tell him you want to just be friends. Sonic would respect that." Sesamie said. Surge thought about it. "Anyway, I have to head home. My bed is calling me and I always answer. Glad you're ok." Sesamie said, walking away. "Wait! Are you sure Sonic likes me?" Surge asked. Seasamie turned around. "I don't know, do I look like a soothsayer to you? I'm just going off of what you told me and what I think of it. If you want to know if he likes you or not, then that's for you to find out." Sesamie said, resuming her walk home.
Surge didn't know what to think. Sesamie sure had her way of just dropping whatever was on her mind. The person she hated the most, the person she wanted to watch their life leave its body, likes her? "Surge! The movie is about to start soon." Kit said, peaking his head out the dorm door. "Oh, right! Coming." Surge said, walking back inside. The group was still busy conversing about recent trends and events. Surge scanned the room for Sonic and saw him talking to Amy in the kitchen. Surge locked eyes with Sonic for he brief moment when he noticed Surge entered the room. They both looked away almost simultaneously. The group soon started to take their seats. "We decided to switch seats for fairness. So, those who sat on the couch will sit on the rug." Silver said. "Sure. Whateves". Surge said, still occupied with thoughts in her head. Surge sat on the rug and leaned back on the couch. Kit sat on one end of the couch while Silver and Blaze sat together. Amy sat next to Surge to put herself in between Surge and Sonic. Sonic eventually sat next to Amy. "Everyone ready?" Sonic asked. Everyone raised a thumbs up. Sonic began playing the movie. The group watched until their halftime break, only to resume watching it until the end. Everyone got up to clean up and rearranged the furniture in the room. When that was done everyone said their goodbyes. Surge and Kit walked back to their dorm.
Kit yawned as he checked under the bed to make sure the project was still there. "Hey." Surge said. "Yeah?" Kit said, rubbing his eyes. "I need to tell you something..." Surge said. Surge explained everything that happened when she was outside of the dorm. "You sure she wasn't just messing with you?" Kit said, referring to Sesamie. "No. Well, I don't think so. Ever since I met her, she didn't seem like the type to lie about anything...so far." Surge said. "Ok then, let's say that it is true that Sonic likes you. What does that mean for us?" Kit asked. "It means, we're already one step closer to killing Sonic." Surge said, rubbing her hands as it created electricity. "How?" Kit asked, too tired to follow. "It's easy. I play in to his little fantasy of us being together, right? Then when he's at this most vulnerable...I go in for the kill." Surge said, patting herself on the back for such an idea. "Do you even need the new Dynamo Cage then?" Kit asked. "Better safe than sorry. When the project is finished, I'll make my move." Surge said. "You do realize that's a lot of weeks of you pretending to like him? Are you sure you'll be able to handle that?" Kit asked. "Pshhhh, Of course! How hard can it be." Surge said. "Alright then, How will you two get together then? If you just "fall for him" just like that. He'll know something is not right." Kit said. "hmmmmm. You're right." Surge said, thinking to himself as she walked to the window.
"And, not to disrespect you or anything but...you're not...experienced...in socializing. Neither of us are." Kit said. "I know I know! Let me think!" Surge said. After a moment, an ideal person popped into her head. "I know just girl to ask." Surge said. "For now, lets head to bed." Surge said. "At least we're making progress. What was your plan originally anyway?" Kit asked, getting into bed. "What?" Surge asked. "When you called me to see if was going to come to see the movie, you said you were there because you had a plan. Right?" Kit said. "Uhhhh, that was the plan." Surge said, in an unconfident way. "Did you just wanted to watch a movie but not alone?" Kit asked. "Shut up and good night." Surge said, getting under the bed sheets. "Good night," Kit said, after laughing a bit.

"Very clever plan. However, I'll still be there to make sure the deed is done"
Surge quickly rose up from bed. "Ugghh. Fucking, Starline." Surge said to herself. Surge noticed there was daylight outside. "Guess he was kind enough to actually let me sleep through the night." Surge said to herself. "What?" Kit said, slowly rising from his sleep. "Nothing." Surge said, getting up from bed. "Looks like we both have an actual goal to chase." Kit said, as he stretched. "Yea. I get Sonic to put his guard down and you build me a super weapon to strike him right in the back." Surge said, being happy at the situation their in right now. "The only way we can mess this up is if we rush it. We both need to be patient if this is going to work properly." Kit said. "Right. Patience." Surge said, rolling her eyes while looking away from Kit. "So, who are you planning to talk to?" Kit asked. "Sesamie." Surge said. "Are you sure?" Kit asked. "I mean, do you have anyone else in mind? She's like the only one that isn't super close friends with Sonic, doesn't hate my guts, and is actually pretty cool to be around." Surge said. "Ok ok. I was just asking and to see if you knew what you were doing." Kit said. "You know, you need to have a little more faith in me sometimes. I can come up with good plans and ideas." Surge said. "And when you come up with horrible ones, it really sets everything back." Kit said. "Alright I get. Let's eat and get this day started."
Kit exited the door to head to the kitchen. Surge was about to follow suit until her Scroll received a notification. She checked and saw it was from Sonic. The message read, "Hey, sorry for how I acted early. That was uncalled for. I did enjoy the movie night.". Surge was about to respond when she stopped herself and decided to wait until she was with Sesamie. Surge joined Kit in the kitchen, and they both ate their breakfast in peace. Kit went back into the dorm to retrieve the project. Surge stayed and called Sesamie on the Scroll. The Scroll ranged until Sesamie picked up. "Yellow." Sesamie said. "Hey it's Surge." Surge said. "We're doing phone calls now? I guess what happened yesterday was important to you." Sesamie said. "Yea. You think you can help me that?" Surge said. "Help how?" Sesamie asked. "Help me not mess this up. I'm not good at...well...you know." Surge said. "You need my help to get with Sonic?" Sesamie asked. "Yea." Surge said, cringing from how pathetic she sounded. "Sure, ok." Sesamie said. "Just like that?" Surge asked. "Why not? Full disclosure though, I'm not a master at this stuff. All I have is my own experience and stories I heard from my friends." Sesamie said. "That's already better than what I have going for me." Surge said.
"Ok. I think I understand the gravity of the situation here." Sesamie said. "Are you free now?" Surge asked. "Really? So soon?" Sesamie said. "Are you busy?" Surge asked. "No, but it is early in the morning and I would like to enjoy it before I go to work and run my business. Speaking of which, your other sets of clothing are done. You can come pick it up whenever you're free." Sesamie said. "Crap." Surge said. "Is it that urgent? What do you need help from me specifically?" Sesamie said. "Well, Sonic texted me something and I don't know how to respond." Surge said. "Oh. We can do that over the phone. That's not something that needs to be done in person." Sesamie said. "Oh, great." Surge said. "I would go to your dorm or another private spot. Wouldn't want anyone to listen on your conversation with you know who." Sesamie said. "Right. Give me a second." Surge said. Surge made her way to her dorm room and crossed paths with Kit, who was holding the project paper. Both waved at each other before crossing each other. Surge entered her dorm room and closed the door. "Ok. I'm in my room." Surge said. "Perfect. Now, what did he send you? It has to be word for word so I wont plug in any gaps myself." Sesamie said. Surge read the message Sonic sent to her. "Ok. He apologized. As a gentleman should. I would text back, quote "No worries, it's cool. But, what were you nervous about anyway? I feel like I have the right to know based on the way you treated me last night.". Make sure it's word for word." Sesamie said. Surge sent a message precisely as she was instructed. "I've sent it." Surge said. "Cool, now we wait." Sesamie said.
"You know, for someone who says they're not a master at this stuff, you seem to really know what you're doing." Surge said. "First off, this is easy stuff. You have no idea that amount of games guy's can play. Hopefully Sonic isn't one of those guys. I think he's just trying to get you to warm up to him so you don't reject him when he makes his move. Which makes sense. I've heard you two don't aren't on the happiest of terms. Second, This is what girls do for the most part when one of their best friends is trying to get with a guy they like." Sesamie said. "We're best friends now?" Surge asked, with an eyebrow raised. "You made me you're best friend when you called me for help for boy trouble. All I did was agreed to help." Sesamie said. "Right." Surge said. Surge's Scroll notified that Sonic sent a response. "What did he send?" Sesamie said. "He sent "It's sensitive stuff about the Resistance. Josh was teasing that he told you something that should have been kept a secret. He does that sometimes."" Surge said. "And, based on what you told me last night, it sounds like he's lying. Are you sure Josh said what he said to you on that day?" Sesamie said. "That's what he said alright." Surge said. "Alright. There's no point in pressing him about it. The last thing you want is to keep reminding him of his mistake. That would irritate him. Hell, that would irritate me too." Sesamie said. "So, what now?" Surge asked.
"Hmmmmmm. I would call Josh. Like I said, Sonic liking you is just a possibility. It's also a possibility that Josh was pranking you and wanted to start trouble." Sesamie said. "I'm not sure. That was as serious as I've ever seen him." Surge said. "Doesn't hurt to check. You don't want to look like a fool, too. Call him. Then come back to me." Sesamie said. "Ok." Surge said, hanging up the call with Sesamie. Surge began calling Josh. "Hey. I'm assuming this is about yesterday?" Josh said. "What do you think?" Surge asked sarcastically. "Right. I may have said too much when you and I talked. But, what I said was true. I didn't know Sonic had a process already in place, so he was pretty angry at me, to say the least. I told him that I was joking and that I never said anything about, you know what, so there wouldn't be any fallout. Take that with what you will. Catch you later." Josh said, before hanging up. "That was weird. Never heard him talk like that before." Surge said to herself. Surge called Sesamie. "That was quick. Did he even answer?" Sesamie said. "Yea. He pretty much said what he told me was true." Surge said. "Ok. So, we know that you're not chasing ghosts. That's good." Sesamie said. "So, what do I do now?" Surge asked." "Whatever Surge would do. I wasn't kidding about being yourself. He already likes you the way you are now. I'm just here, so you don't go over the top and act like someone you're not...and maybe help you hold a conversation here and there without being a pain to be around." Sesamie. "Be myself, huh?" Surge said, talking out loud. "Guess I'll leave you to it. Text me if you need any help. And, don't forget to pick up your clothes from my store." Sesamie said. "Gotcha." Surge said. "One last thing." Sesamie said. "Yea?" Surge responded. "The most important thing you could do is NOT TO RUSH IT. You don't have to spend every day with him. You got it?" Sesamie said. "Got it." Surge said. "Cool. Ciao." Sesamie said, before hanging up.
###
"Ok. That's figured out. But, how was it able to absorb Wisps? And how was Surge able to use their powers without consent?" Kit said, sitting at the workshop table. Kit was hard at work on how the new Dynamo Cage would function. The main feature of the Dynamo Cage was the ability to absorb energy of almost any kind: electricity, Chaos drives, and even Wisps. The electricity one was pretty straightforward. The Chaos drives were still being worked on, but Kit was able to get the basics down. The one that stumped him the most was absorbing Wisps and being able to use their abilities. Such a feature would be complex to theorize, let alone put it into practice. It didn't help that he couldn't ask for help, or else they would be suspected of future wrongdoing again. Kit came up with an idea that might help him. He began calling Surge on his Scroll. "Yo." Surge said. "When you were in that base the other evening, was there any computers and storage devices?" Kit asked. "A better question would be, if there was a spot where there wasn't any. The whole place was full it." Surge said. "Were any of them related to experimental projects by any chance?" Kit asked. "I don't know, that wasn't why we were there, so didn't care." Surge asked. "Ok." Kit said. "Let me guess, you already have to go that base to continue the project?" Surge said. "Probably. It would help if I could have the designs of the original to work with. Instead of starting from scratch." Kit said. "I don't think the base is cleared for scavenging operations. You would have to check." Surge said. "Got it." Kit said. "Bye." Surge said, before hanging up.
