Episode 370: The Kanto Grand Festival Part 1

Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Roxas, Xion, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Arthur, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Chase, Elaine, Rei, Ryuko, Pikachu, Angel, Eevee, Azurill, Xipak, Celeste, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, Volt, and Maple have arrived to the Indigo Plateau at last.

"So, this is the Indigo Plateau," Lyra said.

"Marill," Marill said.

"This brings back a lot of memories," Leaf said, feeling nostalgic.

"Yeah, this is where Ash, Leaf, Gary, and I had our very first Pokémon League tournament together," Sora said. He turned to his partner. "You remember, buddy?"

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"It feels like it was yesterday," Ash said.

"Ven, didn't Sora win the Pokémon League here?" Ryuko asked.

"Yeah, it was. It was an awesome thing to see," Ventus said.

"Lily, my mom, and I only watched it on TV, so we cheered for you all the way," Arthur said.

"And since we're early, we have the time to train for it," May said.

"You're right, May. We're gonna need to be on our toes in the Grand Festival," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Angel, are you down for some training?" Kairi asked her partner.

"Eevee," Angel nodded.

"I thought you were. Come on," Kairi said.

As the days passed, Kairi and May worked hard to train for the Grand Festival. Not too long, other Pokémon Coordinators started to arrive, knowing it was time. After Kairi got her training done, Kairi has a pair of hands over eyes.

"Guess who," a woman's voice said. Kairi turned to see it was her parents and Seth in the baby carriage.

"Mom, dad, Seth. You came," Kairi said.

"Of course, honey. We came to cheer you on," Mirei said.

"We wouldn't miss this for the world," Yuta said. Kairi smiled. She looked at her little brother.

"How's my baby brother? Have you been good?" Kairi asked. The baby cooed.

"He says he has. Isn't that right, champ?" Yuta asked. The baby laughed.

"Well, I had a feeling you'd show up," Kairi said.

"Well, it wasn't just us that has come, honey," Mirei said.

"Oh, grandma is here, too?" Kairi asked.

"Yes, but that's not who we're talking about. It was one of those people who you met very recent. She's that ninja girl who looks young enough to he your sister," Yuta said.

The ninja girl is the one with short black hair and green top. She approached the group with a hearty smile.

"Hey, you guys," the girl greeted.

"I remember you. You're one of the other warriors," Sora said.

"Right. We weren't properly introduced. I'm Yuffie Kisaragi," Yuffie introduced herself.

"It's nice to know your name, Yuffie. What brings you here?" Ash asked.

"Well, I was tagging along Kairi's family, so I got curious about how the Grand Festival is such a big deal, so I decided to see for myself," Yuffie said.

"How's Pallet Town been treating you, Yuffie?" Kris asked.

"It's okay. There are some things some of the people with us aren't used to, but they're adjusting," Yuffie said.

"Doesn't seem to be a problem for you," Roxas said.

"Yeah, I got the hang of it pretty quick. Oh, and before I forget; your friend Tracey said he wishes you and Kairi luck," Yuffie said to May.

"I appreciate it, Yuffie," May said.

"At least there's one more person to cheer Kairi and May on," Lyra said.

"Marill," Marill said.

"And since Kairi's family is here, I better check in with mine," May said. She took out her Rotom Phone and contacted her home. It was Max who answered the home phone.

"Hello," Max said.

"Hey, Max," May greeted.

"May, it's great to see you! You must have gotten your five Ribbons by now, right?" Max asked.

"Yeah. I hit some bumpy roads, but it wasn't something I couldn't handle," May said.

"I guess you can last without me after all. I had my doubts," Max said.

"Gee, thanks," May said with a little hint of sarcasm.

"So, who are the new kids?" Max asked.

"Right. Max, meet Yuffie, Chase, Elaine, Sora's cousin, Arthur, and this is Ryuko," May introduced.

"May told us about you," Elaine said.

"You too. Are you Keyblade wielders, too?" Max asked.

"Me, Elaine, and Arthur are," Chase said.

"Anyway, the reason I'm calling is, aren't you, mom, and dad going to come down?" May asked.

"Sorry, sis, but it doesn't look like we're coming at all. Dad's been busy running the Gym, so he's been getting a handful of challengers lately. But we'll be watching you on TV," Max said.

"I thought as much. You tell mom and dad I called," May said.

"I'll do that, May," Max said.

"Also, how are those grooming lessons Kairi gave you going?" May asked.

"Well, smoothly. Slakoth, Vigoroth, and Slaking liked the brushing I'm giving them, and Ralts have been a big help," Max said.

"Glad to hear it," May said.

"Good luck, May. And I hope you win it unlike the last time," Max said.

"I'll do my best," May said.

With that said, May broke contact with her brother and smiled.

"What did he mean by last time?" Yuffie asked.

"You weren't there before. Kairi and May competed in the Grand Festival in the Hoenn region, and they ended up facing each other in the final round," Ethan said.

"They gave each other everything they had and not one of them was willing to call it quits. In the end, it was Kairi who won the Hoenn Grand Festival," Leaf said.

"It was a close one, that's for sure," Brendan said.

"And we're all here to see if history will repeat itself," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Hey!" A familiar voice called out. It turns out it was Trace along with his Jolteon running up to them.

"Trace," Sora, Ash, Leaf, Chase, and Elaine said in unison. He stopped in front of them and laughed.

"Looks like I made the right bet that I'd see you here," Trace said.

"You're here for the Grand Festival, Trace?" Xion asked.

"Yeah. I wouldn't miss this for the world. I heard May and Kairi are in it, so I thought I'd join you guys and watch it with you," Trace said.

"Jolt!" Jolteon said.

"You're more than welcome to join up," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

A little later, a young woman with wavy black hair and fair skin approached. She wore a yellow-orange dress along with yellow and white striped stockings, and yellow shoes. She wore large, round glasses. She has a Chatot on her shoulder.

"Hello, all you Grand Festival fanatics! In these 24 short hours, the Indigo Plateau Pokémon Grand Festival will start its entrance! Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Sunshine Lola! As you know, each Pokémon Coordinator has to have a total of five Contest Ribbons that you have won in various places right here in the Kanto region! And it looks like we have quite a spread of Coordinators this year! We will hope that the bond that the Coordinators and their Pokémon will shine brightly as the sun, and see who will shine the brightest! The winner will have the right to hold the beautiful Ribbon Cup! So, I say, keep on shining!" Sunshine Lola said.

"Keep on shining! Keep on shining!" Chatot repeated.

"Okay, and cut," the director said. Lillian clapped her hands and she smiled.

"Now, that's what I call exciting," Lillian said, approaching her.

"Just doing what I do best. I brighten everyone's day," Sunshine Lola said.

"And there isn't a single cloud in the sky. You must have a secret of keeping those dark clouds away," Lillian said.

"Thank you very much," Sunshine Lola said.

"No, thank you. Keep 'em on the edge of their seats," Lillian said, walking away.

"I will!" Sunshine Lola said.

Meanwhile, the group has entered the Pokémon Center and they saw an Aipom grabbing every hat that was in sight.

"Gimme back my hat!" A voice said. Aipom grabbed Mimi and TK's hat when the DigiDestined arrived.

"You bring that back!" Mimi demanded.

"Hey, that's my hat!" TK exclaimed.

Aipom then grabbed Tommy's hat.

"That's not yours, Aipom!" Tommy exclaimed.

Aipom ran toward the group and it grabbed Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, Chase, and Elaine's hats.

"My hat!" Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, Chase, and Elaine exclaimed.

"Hey, give those back!" Ethan said.

"Not again! I'm so sorry about this!" One Trainer said.

"Is that your Aipom?" Riku asked.

"Yes, and she has a thing for hats. I'm so sorry about her behavior. I'll tell her to bring them back," the Trainer said. He turned to the Long Tail Pokémon. "Aipom, you give those hats back right now!" Aipom loses her balance and the hats all fell.

"Come and get your hats," Sora said.

"You had enough excitement for one day, so back in your Pokéball you go," the Trainer said, taking out a Pokéball, but Aipom just started to run around again. "Hey, Aipom, come back here!" He chases after the Long Tail Pokémon. Nurse Joy walks in, hearing the commotion.

"What's going on over here?" Nurse Joy asked. She got her answer when Aipom jumped over Nurse Joy, surprising her. Aipom grabbed the nurse's hat with her tail.

"I'm sorry, Nurse Joy," the boy apologized. He chases after Aipom. "Aipom, you come back here, right now!" Aipom grabbed one more hat and ran around some more.

Hearing the commotion, Drew and Roselia come by.

"Roselia! Use Petal Dance!" Drew ordered. Roselia unleashes a Petal Dance, creating a whirlwind of flower petals, and surrounding Aipom in it.

Coming in is a fair-skinned young woman with waist-length salmon hair that has bangs swept to the left and blue eyes. She wears a collared orange long sleeved shirt with a red belt at the waist, a red fingerless glove on her right hand albeit with the thumb intact, a burgundy skirt and knee high socks and red boots. She has a Slowbro beside her.

"Slowbro! Use Psychic, now!" The young woman ordered. Slowbro uses Psychic to stop Aipom from spinning around. The Hermit Crab Pokémon brings Aipom back to her Trainer.

"Aipom, you really need to chill out, because your Mankey-shines are going to get us into a lot of trouble," the Trainer scolded the Long Tail Pokémon. He took the hats back from Aipom and called her back in her Pokéball. The boy who had his hat snatched from him walked up to him. "Sorry about that."

"Hmph!" The boy huffed as he took his hat back.

"That was one hyperactive Aipom," Chase said.

"Well, thanks for stepping in when you did, Drew," Sora said.

"I only stepped in because that Aipom needed to chill," Drew said.

"And you're not gonna tell us that you're not the least bit nervous, are you?" Chase asked.

"No, I don't do nervous," Drew scoffed as he flips his hair. The young woman and her Slowbro approached the group.

"But you used to when you were only starting out," the young woman said. Arthur recognized her.

"Hi, Solidad. It's been a while," Arthur greeted.

"Hello, Arthur," Solidad greeted back.

"You know her?" Sora asked.

"Yeah, I met Solidad quite a few times. I had a feeling I'd be seeing her here," Arthur said. Solidad approaches Drew.

"It's been a while. How are you?" Solidad asked.

"Fine. Good to see you," Drew said.

"It looks like Arthur isn't the only one who knows her," Xion said.

"Your Roselia's awesome. Such a great Petal Dance," Solidad said.

"Your Slowbro's Psychic was right on the money, too, Solidad. Really beautiful as well," Drew said.

"Thank you, Drew. It's nice to see you haven't changed a bit," Solidad said.

"You know, I can't wait to see all your Pokémon. I'm sure they're all awesome," Drew said. He and his Roselia started to take their leave. "Later." He makes one more stop to turn to Kairi and May. "Hey, May, Kairi, she's a tough cookie."

"Thanks for the warning," Kairi said.

"You must be Kairi and May. I'm Solidad. I heard so much about you two from Drew," Solidad said.

"You have?" Kairi and May asked.

Later, everyone all sat down to have a word with Solidad.

"So, Arthur, how do you know her?" Naminé asked.

"I met Solidad during my travels. She saw me fight off a horde of Heartless to defend myself. Solidad then came around when I was overwhelmed by them and saved me from having my heart taken by them," Arthur said.

"It was quite a shock when I saw his Keyblade. Arthur has told me all about them and what they were capable of. Drew even mentioned it to me when he was attacked by Nobodies before the Verdanturf Town Pokémon Contest," Solidad said.

"Well, I appreciate you helping out my cousin when you did, Solidad. But changing the subject, how exactly do you know Drew?" Sora asked.

"I'm with Sora. It's just so weird, because Drew has never mentioned you," May said.

"Really? Knowing Drew, I'm sure he got plenty of other things to talk about," Solidad said.

"I guess," May said.

"Answering your question, Sora, I first met Drew was during the first Contest he ever entered. He ended up being my opponent in the final match," Solidad said.

"He made it all the way to the final match in his first try?" Brendan asked.

"So, which one of you two won it?" Ethan asked.

"I managed to win when the time ran out. I never fought a more grueling battle. You know, Drew and his Roselia are the most amazing team," Solidad said.

"I'll say they are," Chase said.

"Chase, shh," Kairi said.

"After he lost, I could see tears of sadness in his eyes. Roselia's too," Solidad said.

"Wait, you mean, Drew actually cried?" May asked.

"That doesn't sound like Drew," Brendan said.

"It was his first loss. But that just made him work harder. He's been getting steadily stronger ever since. After that, we've been seeing each other in other Contests, so often, we've been able to stay in close touch," Solidad said.

"What have you two you've been talking about so far?" May asked.

"Not about our performances. Drew is the kind of person who never took advice from anyone, so he does things his own way. Whenever we met each other, we talked about other Coordinators we saw performing, and that's where you and Kairi come in," Solidad said.

"Really?" May asked.

"Yes. Drew has told me about how you performed so much in the Contests you've already been to, and about how you each have a Keyblade of your own. I assumed it was Arthur at first, but Drew said it was you. Drew even filled me in about your fight against Zell, the Elemental Bosses and about how you brought the final fight to Organization XIII. But I was amazed when I saw you battle in the Hoenn Grand Festival. You battled hard against Drew and managed to defeat him before you and Kairi faced off in the final battle," Solidad said.

"But if you and Drew have seen each other so much, then how come we hadn't seen you in the Hoenn Grand Festival?" Kris asked.

"I have made an attempt to earn my final Contest Ribbon in Hoenn, when I lost against a Coordinator named Henrietta. So, I watched it on TV and that was when I saw you two, Drew, and Harley. I knew there would come a day when our paths shall cross," Solidad said.

"And you were right. May and I will give it everything we have in the Grand Festival," Kairi said.

"We worked hard to make it all this way, and it'll pay off," May said.

"That's what I wanna hear from my rivals. After what I saw in the Hoenn Grand Festival, I expect no less from the two Coordinators who made it all the way to the final round," Solidad said.

Unknown to them, Mary Jane was watching them.

"It's that Kairi girl again. I should have guessed she'd make it here. She may have defeated me in the Porta Vista Contest, but I'll have my chance to defeat her here in the Indigo Plateau and earn the Ribbon Cup," Mary Jane said. Harley is looking at her and grinning. She took notice of him. "What are you looking at, you green dork?"

"Well, sorry," Harley said with a hint of sarcasm. "Ooh, I hate her already."

On the very next day, the Grand Festival is about to begin. By that time, Kairi and May had already been registered, along with Drew, Harley, Solidad, and Mary Jane. Kairi's family sat with the group as Seth is on Xion's lap.

Ben and his apprentices have arrived to witness the Grand Festival. Tom is sitting among them. The four DigiDestined teams have arrived to witness the Grand Festival as did Yugi and his friends.

Good morning, all of you wonderful Contest fans! Time to witness the love of some very talented Coordinators and their Pokémon! The Indigo Plateau Grand Festival is about to get underway! So let's do it!" Lillian announced as the crowd all cheered.

"Wow, everyone here is getting worked up," Yuffie said.

"They're excited, alright," Wes said.

"Folks, today we got a total of 270 putting their reputations on the line! And the lucky person who comes out on top gets this!" Lillian announced as she gestures to the Ribbon Cup. "This gorgeous Ribbon Cup will tell the world its owner is the Top Coordinator and we're here to find out who that is! And now, it's time to introduce the familiar face the Contest fans who has the heart of these great events! The head of our organizing committee, Mr. Contesta!" Contesta comes in and holds a microphone.

"Greetings, ladies and gentlemen! On behalf of all our many Coordinators, I welcome you all to this monumental event! Now, please join me in giving all of them a big hand for their hard work!" Contesta announced as the crowd cheered.

"And next, the head of the Pokémon Fan Club, Mr. Suziko!" Lillian announced.

"Remarkable!" Suziko announced.

"And now, somebody we all know and love! Former Top Coordinator, Rumiko Nonaka!" Lillian announced.

"Good morning, everyone! I'm just happy to see all the Coordinators and spectators have such a spectacular time!" Rumiko announced.

"And now, a special surprise, and a very special guest judge! It's the MC for the Hoenn Contests, and my big sister, Vivian! Welcome, sis!" Lillian announced as Vivian entered the stadium.

"It is my pleasure to be part of this wonderful Kanto crowd! And I promise to do my best today as a special guest judge!" Vivian announced.

"When did she get here?" Sora asked.

"Pika?" Pikachu asked.

"I never would have guess we would see Vivian all the way from Hoenn to Kanto," Lyra said.

"Marill," Marill said.

"I just can't get over how much alike they are, even though they're sisters," Chase said.

"I definitely see the resemblance," Trace said.

Over to Kairi and the other Coordinators, Kairi and May were surprised to see Vivian again since the Hoenn Grand Festival.

"We haven't seen Vivian since the Hoenn Grand Festival," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"It's now time for our preliminary round where our 270 contestants has a chance to show off their Pokémon's favorite moves! So, while we bring out our Coordinators out on our 2bit stages, let's also bring out our very own Nurse Joys! They will have the honor of grading all of the Pokémon! And based on the grades of each of the Nurse Joys, combined by the scores of each of our judges, we will then be reducing the field to a group of 64 Coordinators who return tomorrow!" Lillian announced.

"64 out of 270. That's tough," Yuffie said.

"Them's the breaks, Yuf. Kairi and May will be making it in," Riku said.

"Eevee," Eevee said.

"And tonight, I got a little help! My other host is..." Lillian announced Sunshine Lola enters the stadium.

"Sunshine Lola! And I'll be here to brighten up the happy days of this bright and shiny Grand Festival, right here in the Indigo Plateau! And what will shine even brighter is what the contestants will bring us! So, let's give a big hand!" Sunshine Lola announced as the crowd cheered.

"As you can see, you're in good hands, so let's get to round 1 where the elite meet and compete!" Lillian announced as the ceiling opened above them. "So, sit back and watch these talented Coordinators as they all show off their brilliant moments!"

"So, let's get busy!" Lillian and Sunshine Lola announced as the spectators cheered.

"And bringing out our first contestant, you know her and you love her! She has earned the title of Top Coordinator in the Hoenn Grand Festival and the Poké Maiden Tournament in Johto! It's Kairi!" Lillian announced as Kairi enters the stage. Kairi took out her Lure Ball and threw it.

"Corsola! Go!" Kairi called out. Her Lure Ball opened and Corsola emerged from inside.

"Corsola!" Corsola said.

"Bubble Beam!" Kairi ordered. Corsola starts things up by firing Bubble Beam all around.

"Corsola is starting up with a bubbly Bubble Beam!" Lillian announced.

"Spike Cannon!" Kairi ordered. Corsila fired Spike Cannon and sends it at the bubbles, popping them. The crowd was captivated. The bubbles creates sparkles.

"Wow! Corsola has used that Spike Cannon to pop all those bubbles with that Spike Cannon! I wonder what else this girl has up her sleeve," Sunshine Lola announced.

"Use Power Gem!" Kairi ordered. Corsola sends out a Power Gem. "Now, get in front of it!" Corsola hurriedly rushes into her own attacks path, much to the shock of everyone.

"She's having her Corsola get in front of its own attack? What could be going through that redhead of hers?" Sunshine Lola asked.

"Mirror Coat!" Kairi ordered. Corsola uses a Mirror Coat to reflect Power Gem and send it upwards.

"Oh, I see! Corsola is sending that Power Gem straight to the sky!" Sunshine Lola announced.

"Spike Cannon!" Kairi ordered. Corsola fired Spike Cannon and struck the front of Power Gem, making it explode like a firework.

"Kairi has given us a a firework show! Let's hear what the judges has to say!" Lillian announced.

"I will say, I was a bit taken by surprise when her Corsola has gotten in front of its own Power Gem! That Mirror Coat was utterly beautiful and stunning!" Contesta said.

"Remarkable!" Suziko said.

"I enjoyed that one. It was like watching a fireworks show!" Rumiko said.

"That was one of the best performances I have ever seen, and we're just getting started!" Vivan announced.

The Nurse Joys gave it a 99, and that was how much Kairi has earned. There were other performances that came and went. There was a Rapidash whom has engulfed the field with an inferno. Then there was a Goldeen that dove in the water, making it look so majestic. Another was a Venusaur using a Frenzy Plant. Another is a Tropius using Gust and Solar Beam. Another is a Remoraid using Aurora Beam. Another is a Pichu using Thunder Shock. Another is a Mantine using Surf. Another is a Jigglypuff using Sing. Another is a Tyrogue using Brick Break. Another is a Salamence using Flamethrower. Another is a Mismagius using Mystical Fire. Another an Alolan Geodude using Rollout while giving off sparks. Another is a Probopass unleashing its magnetic energy.

"From Petalburg City, please welcome our next contestant, May!" Lillian announced as May came to the stadium.

"Knock 'em dead, May!" Brendan cheered for his girlfriend.

"Combusken! Take the stage!" May shouted as she took out her Pokéball and threw it. Her Combusken emerged from inside, ready to perform. "Use Sky Uppercut!" She took out a frisbee and threw it. Combueksen drags her claws on the ground, leaving a dust cloud and jumped up to deliver an uppercut. Combusken shatters the frisbee into buts, leaving sparkles behind.

In the back, Kairi is with Solidad and Drew, watching her performance.

"May and Combusken are both looking pretty sharp. I can understand why you're so worried," Solidad said.

"Who says I'm worried?" Drew scoffed.

"May had her Combusken ever since she was a little Torchic. It was thanks to some serious training May was giving her," Kairi said.

The crowd cheered as soon as Combusken lands on her feet.

"A Sky Uppercut with wings! Just when we thought we could see a Fire-type move, May shows us a Fighting-type; the mark of a true champion!" Lillian announced.

"That was awesome!" Chase exclaimed.

"It sure was. I mean, wow!" Yuffie said.

"That should earn May a lot of points!" Rei said.

"Now, let's move on with our next entry! Hailing from Pewter City, I present Solidad!" Sunshine Lola announced. Solidad entered as the stadium is converted to a pool. She took out a Pokéball and threw it.

"Now, Lapras! Let's go!" Solidad called out. Her Pokéball opened and her Lapras emerged from inside.

In the back...

"I thought she would go with Lapras," Drew said.

"You knew she had one, Drew?" Kairi asked.

"Of course, I did. She and Lapras have been partners for a long time," Drew said.

In the stadium...

Lapras makes a splash in the pool, creating a massive tidal wave. It was going over the crowd.

"Now, use Sheer Cold!" Solidad ordered. Lapras uses Sheer Cold to freeze the entire pool, making a spectacular ice show.

"Wow, this a work of ice art! Lapras's appeal is stuck on stupendous!" Sunshine Lola announced.

"I can see why Drew greatly respects Solidad and why he lost against her. May and I won't find her easy to beat," Kairi said in her thoughts.

"Let's a give a warm welcome to our next contestant from Vermillion City! It's Mary Jane!" Lillian announced as Mary Jane entered the stadium. She took out a Pokéball and threw it.

"Ninetales! Come out!" Mary Jane threw her Pokéball and an Alolan Ninetales emerged from inside. "Blizzard!" Ninetales blew a Blizzard, sending it up in the air. It soon engulfed the stadium, making an actual blizzard. "Aqua Tail!" Ninetales's tails has emits water being frozen by Blizzard. It swings Aqua Tail, creating ice sparkles all around.

"Ninetales is putting an ice show! Its Aqua Tail combined with Blizzard is a display of beauty and grace!" Lillian announced.

"Moonblast!" Mary Jane ordered. Ninetales unleashed a Moonblast, blasting through the blizzard and creates a beautiful explosion turning off the blizzard. Mary Jane and her Ninetales bowed their heads.

"A wonderful performance!" Lillian announced.

"Everyone else might as well just go home because that Ribbon Cup is mine," Mary Jane said to herself.

"And now, it's time for our next contestant! Here's Drew from LaRousse City!" Lillian announced. Drew took out a Pokéball and threw it.

"Okay, Masquerain! Let's hit it!" Drew called out. His Masquerain emerged from inside. "Silver Wind!" Masquerain spins around, creating a silver tornado.

"That's awesome," May said.

"It's a bit blend," Solidad said, walking up.

"Why would you say that?" Kairi asked.

"On a sunny stage like this, anyone would want to put on a flashy outfit. But Drew wants to win by his Pokémon's moves alone Typical stubborn minded move," Solidad said.

"Wasn't that wonderful? Now, let's bring out our next contestant! And it's Harley from Slateport City!" Sunshine Lola announced as Harley came out, blowing kisses to the crowd.

"Well, he hasn't changed," Yuta said.

"What can you expect from someone like Harley?" Xion deadpanned.

"Banette, dollface! Time to shine, hun!" Harley called out as he took out a Pokéball and threw it. Banette came out to perform. "Will-O-Wisp!" Banette unleashed a Will-O-Wisp, making it circle around it.

"Okay, all 270 contestants have been completed their first rounds! Now it's time to hear what the judges are thinking!" Lillian announced.

"A memorable first round! Every Coordinator did a great job in finding just the right way to show off their Pokémon! Just what the Grand Festival deserves," Contesta said.

"Truly remarkable!" Suziko said.

"There was an amazing communication between all of the Coordinators and their Pokémon! And they all had a great time performing, too," Rumiko said.

"Wow! Just wonderful! With all the Pokémon shining brightly and looking absolutely stunning! I'm glad I could come to Kanto and see all this!" Vivian said.

"And thank you judges for all your warm comments! Now, the 64 contestants who received the highest scores to move on to tomorrow's next round are all on screen!" Lillian announced as Kairi, May, Drew, Solidad, and Mary Jane are among the 64 Coordinators.

"Kairi and May made it in," Trace said.

"Of course they made it in. They earned those high scores to make it," Elaine said.

"Maybe so, but the battle is just getting started, so it gets even harder from there," Rei said.

"When all 64 finalists are all on stage tomorrow, I'm sure you're all going to give us such amazing performances and believe me we can hardly wait! Great job today, everyone and good luck tomorrow!" Lillian announced as the crowd cheered.

Later, Kairi feeds Corsola a bowl of Pokémon food.

"Here, Corsola, eat up," Kairi said. Corsola began to eat the Pokémon food.

"That was a wonderful job, dear," Kairi's grandma said.

"She's right. You definitely rocked it," Yuta said.

"Thanks, everyone. I wasn't sure I would make it in," Kairi said.

"But you did, Kairi. And we're so very proud of you. That was a beautiful performance," Mirei said.

"Absolutely. You have a gift, and you showed it off in ways hardly anyone could have seen. And we know you'll make it to the finals, just like you did in the Hoenn Grand Festival," Yuta said.

"I'll do my best," Kairi said.

"We know you will. That is all that matters and should matter," Yuta said.

"Your father's right, Kairi. No matter what happens tomorrow, we'll be proud of you, no matter what," Kairi said.

Kairi, May, along with Drew, Harley, Mary Jane, and a new rival, named Solidad have made it passed the first round, and towards the second round coming up on the next day. The Grand Festival will get even harder going forward, but Kairi and May won't let that stop them, so stick around if you wanna see the second part of the Grand Festival.
