Episode 371: The Kanto Grand Festival Part 2
Last time, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Roxas, Xion, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Arthur, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Chase, Elaine, Ryuko, Rei, Pikachu, Angel, Eevee, Azurill, Xipak, Celeste, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, Marill, Volt, and Maple have arrived to the Indigo Plateau, not only the sight of the Kanto region's Pokémon League tournaments, but for the Kanto Grand Festival taking place there as well. Sora, Ash, Leaf, Chase, and Elaine's friend, Trace, has come to the Indigo Plateau to support Kairi and May in the tournament. Kairi's family has come along to support Kairi along with the young female ninja, Yuffie Kisaragi. She revealed she got curious about Pokémon Contests, so she tagged along to see for herself. During the excitement caused an overexcited Aipom, Drew has arrived to calm things down, along with another rival's by the name of Solidad. It is revealed Solidad is also an old acquaintance of Arthur whom helped him out once when he was attacked by the Heartless. They got to know Solidad as she revealed how she knew Drew since his very first Contest. The Grand Festival makes a grand beginning as 270 Coordinators, counting Kairi, May, Drew, Harley, Solidad, and Mary Jane, have each displayed their performances, so Kairi, May, Drew, Harley, Solidad, and Mary Jane have made it in as the 64 Coordinators in the second round. And that brings us to today.
"Sounds like you're all rested and ready to rock! So, prepare yourselves to be happily exhausted just one more time!" Lillian announced. The crowd all cheered on. "The final selection begins! So, let's head on to the first round stage! Our lead-off contestant is a gentleman from LaRousse City, Drew!" Drew came to the stadium and he took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Now, Absol! Let's go!" Drew called out. His Absol came on out to give its performance. "Absol! Use Flash!" Absol unleashes a Flash, creating a bright and blinding light.
"Absol gives us a blinding Flash! Absol's absorbed all that light and it's sparkling with a beautiful glow! What a fantastic way of demonstrate with such a satisficated and highly polished move!" Lillian announced.
"Wow, I never thought a Dark-type like Absol would shine in a big way," Trace said.
"Let's see," Chase said, taking out his Rotom Phone and scanned Absol.
Absol, the Disaster Pokémon
Type: Dark
When it senses imminent danger, Absol appears before people to give them warnings of impending doom. Many people have mistaken it for a harbinger of disaster.
"No wonder it's called the Disaster Pokémon," Chase said.
In the back, Kairi, May, and Solidad were watching in the back.
"Lillian's right," May agreed.
"And that move is harder than it seems. Just look at that pure white fur. Drew's doing a fantastic job as always," Solidad said.
Harley is busy giving his nails a manicure, acting like he doesn't care.
Back in the stadium...
"Now! Water Pulse!" Drew ordered. Absol's body gave off a blue water-like aura and unleashed Water Pulse and sending it upwards.
"Absol raised that Water Pulse into a giant waterfall! Enjoy while you can, because you don't see something like this high level often!" Lillian announced.
"Razor Wind, go!" Drew ordered. Absol unleashed a Razor Wind and it cuts through the water, making it sparkle.
"Amazing! Absol's powerful Razor Wind pulverized Water Pulse instantly An excellent finish with an excellent performance!" Lillian announced. The crowd cheered on for Drew. He and Absol took a bow.
"Drew's sure something else, don't you think?" Solidad asked.
"I'll admit, he put a lot of effort into that combo," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Meanwhile, Roxas, Xion, Xipak, and Celeste have stepped out of the stadium as they came across some footprints.
"Kangaskhan tracks," Roxas said.
"Pikachu," Xipak said.
"Just like the man from earlier said," Xion said.
(Flashback)
We go to earlier in the morning when Roxas and Xion had gotten up.
"Are you sure?" A woman asked.
"Yeah, I'm sure. A Kangaskhan was spotted around here. Some Trainers tried to capture it, but it ended up beating up every Pokémon that battled it. Even Fighting-type Pokémon didn't stand a chance," a man said.
"Excuse us, but you said something about a Kangaskhan. Can you tell us where you saw it?" Roxas asked.
"It was somewhere around where the Water, Grass, Rock, and Ice Fields are. It was a brief moment, but I did see that Kangaskhan as clear as daylight," the man said.
A little later, Roxas tells Sora about a Kangaskhan being sighted on the Indigo Plateau grounds.
"Are you sure about this, Roxas?" Sora asked.
"I'm sure, Sora. And I'm gonna have to look into it and see I can catch it," Roxas said.
"Well, you have my full support, but just try not to take too long trying to catch it, okay?" Sora asked.
"I'll do my best not to," Roxas said.

Roxas, Xion, Xipak, and Celeste followed the trail and they saw it. It was a Kangaskhan. She and her baby were eating some berries.
"There she is," Roxas whispered.
"Kangaskhan," Xion said.
"And I have a perfect Pokémon to go after her," Roxas said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Tauros! Go!" His Pokéball opened. This surprises Kangaskhan when she saw the Wild Bull Pokémon.
"Moo!" Tauros bellowed.
"Tauros! Raging Bull!" Roxas ordered. Tauros raised his hooves in the air before he began to charge at the Parent Pokémon. Kangaskhan came at Tauros with an Ice Punch, landing a hit on him.
"That was an Ice Punch!" Xion exclaimed. Kangaskhan then gave Tauros a powerful Dizzy Punch, confusing Tauros on the mark.
"That was Dizzy Punch! And Tauros is totally confused!" Roxas gasped.
"Pika!" Xipak said.
"Try to snap out of it! Raging Bull again!" Roxas ordered. Tauros blindly ran toward a tree and knocked himself out. Roxas called back his Tauros.
"You did your best, Tauros. Rest up," Roxas said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "You're up, Poliwrath!" His Pokéball opened and Poliwrath emerged from inside, ready to battle. "Okay, Poliwrath! Use Hydro Pump!" Poliwrath fired a Hydro Pump right at Kangaskhan, but she dodged and gave Poliwrath another Dizzy Punch, followed by an Aerial Ace, finishing Poliwrath off. After dealing with two of Roxas's Pokémon, she started to run off. Roxas went up to Poliwrath. He helped the Tadpole Pokémon on its feet. "You okay, Poliwrath?"
"Wrath," Poliwrath said.
"Don't feel bad. I had no idea she could use Aerial Ace," Roxas said. He took out Poliwrath's Pokéball. "Get yourself a good rest." He called back his Poliwrath.
"That Kangaskhan is stronger than we thought," Xion said.
"Yeah, but I'm not gonna give up. Enjoy your freedom while you can, Kangaskhan, because before this day is over, I'm gonna catch you," Roxas said.
"Pika!" Xipak said.
"I'm with you, all the way, Roxas!" Xion said.
"Eevee!" Celeste said.
"I'm glad you're on board, Xion. Let's go!" Roxas said as he, Xion, Xipak, and Celeste went after Kangaskhan in another attempt to catch her.
"Now, for our next entry! Mary Jane!" Lillian announced as Mary Jane has entered the stadium. She took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Come on out, Rapidash!" Mary Jane called out. Her Pokéball opened to reveal a Galarian Rapidash. "Psybeam!" Rapidash unleashed a Psybeam from its horn and sent it upwards.
"Rapidash begins by showing us a very colorful Psybeam!" Lillian announced.
"Megahorn!" Mary Jane ordered. Rapidash whinnies and charges right into the Psybeam, engulfing its horn in a rainbow glow.
"Rapidash's horn absorbed Psybeam, making its horn glow in a collage of colors!" Lillian announced.
"High Horsepower!" Mary Jane ordered as she got on Rapdash's back. The Unique Horn then gallops, leaving behind a trail of colors behind it.
"Mary Jane is riding along with Rapidash as it gallops all round! And it's leaving trail of colors behind it!" Lillian announced.
In the back, Kairi, May, and Solidad were watching her perform.
"She's really putting in the effort with her performance," Solidad said.
"Yes, but she isn't a pushover," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Back in the stadium, Mary Jane gets off of Rapidash and she does a bow.
"Such a dazzling performance from Mary Jane and her beautiful and talented Rapidash!" Lillian announced as the crowd cheered.
"Yes, I know you loved it. Take it all in," Mary Jane said.
Back with Roxas, Xion, Xipak, and Celeste, they found Kangaskhan again. By then, Roxas had exchanged Poliwrath and Tauros for Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee.
"Gotcha again, Kangaskhan! Now, you're gonna have to battle me again!" Roxas said, taking his two Pokéballs out and threw them. "Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee! Go!" Both evolved forms of Tyrogue came out to battle. "Hitmonlee! Low Sweep! Hitmonchan! Mach Punch!" Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan came at Kangaskhan each, prepared to land a hit, but Kangaskhan dodged just by jumping. She then grabbed Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee and gave them both a throw. "Hitmonchan! Ice Punch! Hitmonlee! Axe Kick!" Hitmonchan came at Kangaskhan with an Ice Punch as Hitmonlee came at her with an Axe Kick, each landing a hit. Kangaskhan wasn't going down that easily. "Again!" Both Fighting-type Pokémon attempts another Ice Punch and Axe Kick, but Kangaskhan lands another Aerial Ace, dealing damage to the both of them. Kangaskhan gave Hitmonchan her own Ice Punch while she gave Hitmonlee a Mega Kick. Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee were knocked out at the same time. Kangaskhan ran off again after defeating them both. "You're not getting away that easily!"
Roxas, Xion, Xipak, and Celeste chased after the Parent Pokémon again. Roxas has noticed something about Kangaskhan.
"How long do you think we can keep this up?" Xion asked.
"At least until she runs out of steam to throw at us," Roxas said.
"What do you mean by that, Roxas?" Xion asked.
"Didn't you know notice how Kangaskhan looked tried when using all of those attacks?" Roxas asked.
"Yeah, I did," Xion said.
"Vee," Celeste said.
"What about it?" Xion asked.
"Well, when I sent Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee after her, I noticed Kangaskhan was losing a lot of steam when she's battling. And the more times I battle Kangaskhan, the more tired she'll get," Roxas said. Xion caught on to Roxas's plan.
"I get it! Kangaskhan will grow more tired every time she battles, and that's when she'll he weakened enough for you to catch her," Xion said.
"Exactly. Let's keep on her," Roxas said. With that said, Roxas and Xion continued to follow Kangaskhan's trail.
Unknown to them, a tall skinny man was watching them. He has pale skin and long black hair. His outfit is a purple trenchcoat with a red shirt underneath, and a black tie. This man is Yukio Oikawa. With him is an Ariados and a Dusclops.
"Well, well. The Nobody that escaped the Organization's notice and the one that left on his own accord. I didn't think it was even possible that the two of them would have their own bodies again after they returned to their original hosts. Count Ernesh was right after all," Oikawa said as he grinned.
(Flashback)
We have a look when Oikawa had entered a restaurant. The waiter approached him.
"May I help you, sir?" The waiter asked.
"Yes, I'm here as a guest of Count Ernesh. My name is Yukio Oikawa," Oikawa said.
"Oh, yes, sir. He is expecting you as we speak. Right this way," the waiter said as he escorts Oikawa where the count is waiting for him. "Your guest, Count."
"Excellent," Count Ernesh said as he smiled. "I am glad we can meet like this, Yukio Oikawa."
"Of course. It is always a privilege to be making your acquaintance, my good Count," Oikawa said as he sat down.
"May I get you gentlemen anything?" The waiter asked.
"Your finest tea. I would requested some wine, but it is not appropriate for myself to indulge myself in alcohol at this hour," Count Ernesh requested.
"Yes, Count Ernesh," the waiter said, taking his leave. Once the two men were left alone, they could have their conversation.
"May I ask why you summoned me, Count Ernesh? It's very rare of you to do so. But I am sure you have a reason," Oikawa said.
"I do. My master, Lord Insidious has informed me of Organization XIII's demise at the hands of Sora Ketchum and the other Guardians of Kingdom Hearts," Count Ernesh said.
"Is that so?" Oikawa asked.
"Yes. And there is more. Roxas, Sora's Nobody and their former operative along with Xion, Kairi's Nobody have joined forces with them to defeat Xemnas, the Organization's superior," Count Ernesh said.
"How is that even possible? There was no way for either one of them to return after rejoining their original selves," Oikawa pointed out. The waiter returned and poured some tea into their tea cups.
"Thank you. That will be all for now," Count Ernesh said to the waiter. He took his leave again. "It was because of the replica vessels Axel had stolen from the Organization. The very same vessels Vexen has created the Elemental Bosses. Because of this, Roxas and Xion have become active forces. They each now have a will of their own."
"And you suspect they'll be Rei Sakura's apprentices just like Kaito's son and the others?" Oikawa asked.
"I do. And it has come to my attention that they had contact with the DigiDestined before they have departed for the Hoenn region," Count Ernesh said.
"They have, Count. They had befriended him right up to when they returned to Sora and Kairi. I believe that is the reason for it," Oikawa said.
"To make certain that their friendship is strong as ever. It would seem that each Roxas and Xion have each formed their own hearts as Nobodies," Count Ernesh said.
"Their own hearts? I thought Nobodies didn't have hearts," Oikawa said.
"As you know, a Nobody vanishes from the realm of light, so they are shunned by both darkness and light. Because of the lack of hearts they have, they are unable to feel any emotions at all, so they pretend to have emotions and hearts. But given that Roxas and Xion are different from the other members of the Organization since they unlike most of them, had developed their own emotions. It is clear that Nobodies can cultivate new hearts and develop emotions, as was the case with Roxas, Axel, and Xion. Xemnas, along with Xigbar have kept it a secret from their cohorts, making them believe they were empty inside," Count Ernesh said.
"I never thought it to be possible," Oikawa said.
"Perhaps, you could look into Roxas and Xion. And report your findings to me," Count Ernesh said.
"Of course," Oikawa said.
(Flashback ends)
"I can only hope he and the others have everything ready soon," Oikawa said.
Back at the stadium, it was now Harley's turn.
"Now for our next entrance! Mr. Mean and Green! Harley!" Lillian announced as Harley entered the stadium, blowing kisses.
"Mwah! Kiss-kiss-kiss!" Harley said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Alright, Octillery! Time to strut your stuff!" His Pokéball opened and Octillery emerged from inside. "Now, use Fire Blast, hun!" Octillery fired a Fire Blast and sent straight to the ground. Octillery lands right on the Fire Blast. It does little burns due to its resistance against Fire-type moves. Octillery does a little dance, waving its tentacles.
"Wow! That is some Water-type! Even when it's some fierce flames, Octillery is dancing!" Lillian announced. The crowd cheered on.
"You put your left suckers in, you put your right suckers out! Party!" Harley sang.
"I never thought I'd see a Water-type doing a fire show," Lyra said.
"Well, there aren't many Water-type Pokémon that can use Fire-type moves like Fire Blast and Flamethrower. Harley managed to pull it off somehow," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
Back with Roxas, Xion, Xipak, and Celeste, they continued their pursuit of Kangaskhan. Roxas had exchanged Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee for Dragonite and Aerodactyl. Roxas had to make sure Kangaskhan doesn't get away again.
"Electro Web!" Roxas ordered. Xipak forms a ball of electricity and hurls it in Kangaskhan's path, cutting her retreat. She turned to glare at Roxas. "The only way you're getting away is by battling me, Kangaskhan. And I'm not gonna call it quits. It isn't over until it's over." Kangaskhan growled, stomping the ground. Kangaskhan snorts. Roxas could tell Kangaskhan was tired of running away, so she had no choice but to stand and fight. Roxas took out his Pokéball and threw it. "Dragonite! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Dragonite emerged from inside.
"Go get her, Roxas!" Xion cheered.
"Eevee!" Celeste said.
"Okay, Dragonite! Go get her! Dragon Claw!" Roxas ordered. Dragonite went for Kangaskhan with a Dragon Claw. Kangaskhan responds by giving it an Ice Punch. Both Pokémon have done damage to each other. "Hurricane!" Dragonite flapped its wings and picked up heavy winds. Kangaskhan tries to keep her footing, but she was having trouble due to the amount of energy she put in battling Roxas. Kangaskhan went after Dragonite and prepares a Dizzy Punch. "Kangaskhan's using Dizzy Punch! Use Dragon Pulse!" Dragonite unleashed a Dragon Pulse, hitting her. "Use Dragon Claw!" Dragonite moves in to deliver a Dragon Claw, but Kangaskhan dodges it and dashed at Dragonite with an Aerial Ace. She gave the Dragon Pokémon a heavy push. The battle soon draws in a small crowd.
"Hey, there's a battle going on!" One boy said.
"Hey, it's that Kangaskhan that's gotten everyone talking," a girl said.
Roxas saw how tired Kangaskhan gotten from using Aerial Ace, but he knew she still had some steam left. Roxas called back his Dragonite and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Aerodactyl! Take flight!" Roxas called out. His Pokéball opened and Aerodactyl flew upwards upon entry. "Okay, Aerodactyl! Use Hyper Beam!" Aerodactyl fired Hyper Beam at Kangaskhan, but she dodged it and lands an Ice Punch onto the Fossil Pokémon. Kangaskhan figured Aerodactyl couldn't attack again right away after using Hyper Beam, so she gave Aerodactyl another Ice Punch, dealing some heavy damage. "Aerodactyl! Fire Fang!" Aerodactyl's fangs emits fire and it lands a heavy bite onto her arm. Roxas called back Aerodactyl and he turned to Xipak. "Okay, Xipak! Your turn!" Xipak stepped in to battle Kangaskhan. The Parent Pokémon moved in to attack the Pikachu with an Ice Punch.
"Dodge it!" Roxas called out. Xipak managed to dodge Kangaskhan's punches just by running and jumping. "Use Iron Tail!" Xipak gave Kangaskhan a hit with Iron Tail. "Electro Web!" Xipak hurls Electro Web on Kangaskhan, trapping her. "No more Aerial Ace from you!" Kangaskhan tried to use another Aerial Ace, but she was too tired from the previous battles before. "Thunderbolt!" Xipak fired a Thunderbolt, shocking Kangaskhan, dealing some heavy damage. Kangaskhan then fell on her back, beaten. Seeing it as his chance, Roxas took out a Pokéball and threw it at the weakened Pokémon. Kangaskhan flows inside once the Pokéball hits her. The Pokéball wobbles around and around very violently. Roxas grew anxious, hoping it would be successful. Everyone in the crowd were just as anxious. Even the shady Magikarp salesman was anxious. It kept on wobbling until stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Roxas's Pokémon Box goes off, so he chose to send Kangaskhan to Professor Oak's lab. "I got myself a Kangaskhan."
"Did you just see that?" A random woman asked.
"That kid just caught that crazy Kangaskhan," another woman said.
"That kid is a good Trainer," a random man said.
"Yeah, and his Pokémon were awesome, too," a little girl said.
"Great job, Xipak," Roxas said as he panted.
"Pika," Xipak said.
Back at the stadium, Solidad is on and she has her Slowbro use Psychic on itself. Slowbro spins around on its shell.
"Just look at that smooth spinning action! Slowbro is using Psychic to skate! Just as graceful as can be! It's like the entire stage has been turned into a skating rink!" Lillian announced.
"Wow, that is cool," Ventus said.
"That's a unique way to use the entire stage," Terra said.
"Slowbro! Water Gun!" Solidad ordered. Slowbro uses Water Gun while spinning.
"Brilliant! A great move! An amazing water dance that's both beautiful and well-balanced!" Lillian announced.
Just then, Roxas, Xion, Xipak, and Celeste has returned.
"Sorry it took so long. That Kangaskhan was more of a challenge than I thought," Roxas said.
"You catch that Kangaskhan, Roxas?" Sora asked.
"Yeah, I did. I had to tire her out first. Has May or Kairi gone on yet?" Roxas asked.
"No, not yet," Sora said.
"You two are on time for those," Karen said.
"Good, because I don't wanna miss those," Xion said.
"Well, Kairi should be going on after May," Naminé said.
"And now for our next contestant! Hailing from Hoenn, the diminutive queen of the battle, May!" Lillian announced. She took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Munchlax! Take the stage!" May called out. Munchlax emerged from inside, ready to go. "Solar Beam!" Munchlax builds up solar energy for his Solar Beam.
"Watch out! Munchlax is getting super-charged! We're talking about tremendous amount of stored energy!" Lillian announced. Munchlax fired it, but Solar Beam came out as a solar ball of energy.
"Power-Up Punch!" May ordered. Munchlax jumped up and lands a punch onto it, making Solar Beam, shine brightly as the sun. It lets out a soothing sound for everyone to hear.
"What's happening here? The Power-Up Punch pulverizes Solar Beam! And it fills the stadium with beautiful light and sound!" Lillian announced as the crowd cheered.
"Way to go, Munchlax!" May cheered.
"She nailed it perfectly!" Kris said.
"The judges will love that," Rei said.
"Excellent! The use of sound to show its power was great!" Contesta said.
"Wow! Remarkable!" Suziko said.
"The beautiful sound almost moved me to tears," Rumiko said.
"Yes, there's no doubt, it was moving," Vivan announced.
Backstage, Kairi and Solidad were at awe with what they saw.
"I never would have thought of a move like that," Solidad said.
"It was amazing. May never fails to impress me," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Come on, Angel, we're next," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Harley was walking by and he huffed.
"I hate to say it, but she's good," Harley said.
"And now, meet the 64th and final contestant for the second round for the Kanto Grand Festival! The maiden of the hour, Kairi!" Lillian announced as Kairi and Angel came to the stadium.
"Angel! Use Swift!" Kairi ordered. Angel fired Swift, creating small stars. The stars go around and around, creating a tutu and a tiara for Angel to wear. Angel then stood on her hind legs, striking a ballerina's pose.The judges and audience were captivated by what they were seeing.
"Eevee has made itself look like beautiful ballerina!" Lillian announced.
Pikachu was awestruck over how Angel looked so beautiful in his eyes. Angel then pirouette around the stadium, much to everyone's amazement. All eyes were all Angel as she does her dance for everyone.
"Look at Angel go," Ventus said.
"Pika," Sparky said.
"Angel is moving so gracefully. It's so moving," Aqua said.
"I guess those dance lessons Kris gave her really paid off," Ethan said.
"What do you mean?" Michael asked.
"Kris suggested she'd give Angel some dancing lessons before, and Kairi liked that idea, and Angel turned into a much better dancer than any of us thought. Angel surprised us when she danced right on her hind legs," Ethan said.
"And now, Angel is shining brightly," Kris said in tears.
"I have seen my share of Eevee in my life, but I have never seen one dance like this before! And on its hind legs, no less!" Lillian announced. Angel finishes her dance as the stars making up her tutu and tiara vanished, making Kairi and Angel bow. "A wonderful dance! Let's hear it from our judges!"
"A wonderful performance. I was completely at awe," Contesta said.
"Absolutely remarkable!" Suziko said.
"That little has shown us a combination of cuteness and beauty. I couldn't take my eyes off of Eevee at all," Rumiko said.
"Very stunning. It reminded me of when I danced ballet when I was a little girl," Vivian said.
"And that'll be it for the second round! Each and every one of them have performed wonderfully!" Lillian announced as Kairi and Angel returned backstage as May and Solidad approached them.
"That was awesome, Kairi. Amazing," May said.
"Very impressive. I can see why you won the Hoenn Grand Festival," Solidad said.
"Thank you, Solidad. It took everything I had to go with that performance," Kairi said.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we had 64 Coordinators and Pokémon perform wonderfully, but only 16 will be moving on to the semifinals, so let's who they all are!" Lillian announced. The screen shows Kairi, May, Drew, Harley, Solidad, and Mary Jane are among the 16 finalists.
"We made it in," May said.
"We sure have," Kairi said.
"And now, let us arrange who will be battling who!" Lillian announced as the mugshots have been arranged to show that May is against Harley in the first battle. Drew will be in the third battle, Mary Jane will be in the fifth battle, Kairi will be in the sixth battle, and Solidad will be in the eighth battle.
"Well, well, fate is smiling on me today. History will repeat itself, but this time, the results won't be the same," Harley said.
