Stepping out of the floo, Mr. Malfoy leads the way to Hadrian's rooms only to stop dead in his tracks.
The bed is empty and unmade with a few pillows on the floor, having fallen off the bed sometime during the night. The bathroom door is open with a wet towel on the floor. Harry's baby blanket is even thrown on the foot of the bed. All evidence points to someone staying in this room. The only thing absent is the child himself.
Lucius has to steady his breathing in order to not destroy everything within sight. The same can't be said about Draco whose magic immediately reacts by blowing up the vase sitting on the bedside table.
"Where is he, father? Hadrian hasn't been taken from us again, has he?"
Lucius doesn't have the self-control or restraint to comfort his heir; instead, the aristocratic blonde pivots on one heel and heads straight for the healer's station.
"Excuse me," he interrupts in a dangerously calm voice that the healers instantly pick up on. "Could you tell me the whereabouts of the young man that was residing in my personal rooms?"
"Well..."
"He..."
"You see sir..." They all try to speak at once while looking to one another for a definite answer.
"Are you saying that not one of you knows where my son is?" Narcissa comes to stand beside her husband. "Who is in charge here?"
"That would be me Lord and Lady Malfoy," a young strawberry blonde healer calls as she quickly rushes to the scene all the while shooing off the other healers.
"Where is our child Healer..."
"Roberson," she answers the unasked question. "He is right down this hall."
She briskly starts down the pediatric hallway while trying to explain the situation.
"I apologize for any worry that this may have caused but young Hadrian managed to sneak past the attending healers this morning and started exploring. By the time we found him, he had discovered one of his friends and utterly refused to leave her side until an adult that isn't one of the healers came for him."
They stop outside a plain white door similar to all the others in this wing before Roberson opens it. Immediately the blonde trio is met with the sound of multiple children crying.
"Thank you, Healer, but we have it from here." With a hesitant nod, as if she was about to protest before remembering who she was in the presence of, Robertson flees down the hallway.
Instead of following his wife and heir into the room, Lucius chooses to once again stay behind and observe the situation from a safe distance.
"Come on Harry, just a small sip and maybe we can try the potions again later," Draco hears a familiar voice say as he's led into the room following his mother.
"It's alright, Hermione. Calm down for me, please. You were doing so well."
Walking fully in the room the Malfoys are greeted by the most usual sight. Their precious baby boy is sitting on the floor in one corner of the small room with one of the Weasley twins crouched a few feet away with some sort of jar in his hand. The other twin is sitting on the hospital bed with a young girl cradled in his arms. Both children are bawling their eyes out and appear to be reaching for the other but the twins keep them apart.
All heads turn to the door when the two blondes enter.
"Lord and Lady Malfoy, Draco," the twins speak at the same time before they start finishing each other's sentences.
"We apologize if the noise--"
"-- is bothering you."
"We just can't seem to get--
"--them settled down."
"Never mind that," Narcissa waves her hand in dismissal. "What seems to be the problem?"
The twins seem shocked by her question but answer anyways.
"Hermoine was diagnosed with dragon pox a week ago--"
"-- and while it's not as contagious--"
"--We are still keeping them apart."
"Harry also needs to eat something--"
"-- and take his potions--"
"-- but keeps getting sick--"
"-- so they asked us to try to get him to drink this," it's then that the Malfoys realize that the aforementioned jar is, in fact, another baby bottle filled with milk and most likely his needed potions.
"I don't want that," Harry brings attention to himself with his exclamation. "It hurts. It always hurts. Don't want that. Don't wanna be sick," he tries to take the bottle to throw it but George keeps it out of reach. When that doesn't work he rushes past the older boy to be picked up by Narcissa.
It's become almost second nature to seek her comfort.
"Well I've heard enough, let us take our leave. Harry, we've come to take you back to your room so that Ms. Granger and yourself can get the proper amount of rest." Lady Malfoy waits for no one's permission before taking the bottle from Mr. Weasely, and finally exiting the room with Draco in tow.
"Mr. Malfoy if we may have a word," Fred lays a now sniffling and clearly exhausted Hermoine onto the bed before standing next to his brother as the Malfoy patriarchy fully enters the room.
"Harry knows that you're his real father--"
"-- and Narcissa his mother," their words have Lucius freezing.
"How is that possible and how do you two know that," he demands.
"He told us himself--"
"--after a particularly nasty fight with Draco."
"He thinks that you don't want him."
"That you purposely gave him away."
"He was stolen from us a few days after his birth," Lucius isn't entirely sure why he feels the need to explain himself but these two seem like they could be great allies and great protectors of his youngest. Merlin knows he's going to need it.
"We just want to be sure--"
"-- he will get the family he deserves."
"As you can see his previous guardians--"
"-- were unfit and we won't hesitate this time--"
"-- to remove him from a situation like that--"
"Ever."
"You have my word that I will hand him over myself if it came to that."
Once back to their room Lucius is greeted by the most heartwarming sight of his wife feeding their youngest with his oldest watching while holding his hand, attempting to keep the younger male from freaking out and not finishing his meal.
"I missed him so much, Luci. I don't know what I would do if he's taken again. I... I--" she starts getting chocked up before Lucius cuts her off.
"I swear to you, my love, that I will do everything in my power to ensure the safety of our entire family. I will not fail you again," he directs the last sentence to a dozing Harry.
"Healer Emerson has informed me that they will be removing the last of the potions and charms placed on him including his god awful glamor. She suggested that only one of us be here to not overwhelm him."
"You should--" Lucius tries to state.
"The first thing Hadrian will need is reassurance that you won't hurt him. I will be going to fix up the nursery and then visit Bella, she's having one of her bad days again."
"And I'll be going to help mother then visit Blaise. Father, am I allowed to tell others of Hadrian's return?"
"Yes, Draco you may brag to your friend about now having a younger sibling," Lucius rolls his eyes playfully as Narcissa laughs before gently placing Harry on the bed. In reality, the more people that know about Hadrian's return the less of a chance it is that he'd be taken once again. No one stupid enough to take a child surrounded by friends and family has the capability of pulling it off.
"Good bye my love. Keep Hadrian safe and calm. You must show him the Lucius we love not the Malfoy everyone else knows of," with Narcissa's final words she leaves with Draco to floo home.
"I suppose it's just you and me for a while, little one," the older blonde pulls a seat close to Hadrian and starts stroking his baby soft hair hoping to invoke sweet dreams.
