With Dabi following her, Rin made her way down into a small laboratory area of the villa. Walking into the lab though as the pair exited the elevator they stood among a bright room, an empty chair at a computer along one wall and a clear metal examination table sat among the other side of the room. But it was empty, no Doctor in sight. How annoying, he had not left in days, if not weeks, and now that they needed him he was gone. If he was not at the Villa then he must have been at Jaku hospital. She should not have been surprised to see that he was not at the Villa. Since Shigaraki had gone off for his power up or whatever they had wanted to call it when he informed the league he would be gone for a while, it meant there was no need for the Doctor to stick around. If he was not there then they needed to head to the hospital. So annoying.
"Seems the Doc ain't here," came from beside her and she struggled hard not to roll her eyes at Dabi and tell him no duh she could see that herself. Instead he asked a question to her, "What shall we do then?"
"Let's split up. I will go look for the Doctor. You go and tell Skeptic what we learned," She said simply as she looked over at Dabi who was frowning at her. He clearly did not like her plan.
"Nah I ain't dealing with that asshole alone," Dabi said clearly, having no desire to part ways and make her job easier. She sighed softly, it was no use in arguing with him over it.
"Fine, let's grab another car and head to Jaku Hospital. Skeptic can still wait," She said as she turned to head back into the elevator as they headed back to the main ground floor where they had just come from. Leading the way the pair back tracked and made their way out of the villa. Once again a dark black car with some unnamed driver was waiting after Dabi had sent a quick text during their elevator ride back to the ground floor.
The drive to Jaku hospital was long and boring. Rin ended up falling asleep with her head on Dabi's shoulder. It was not till the car stopped and she was being rather roughly shaken awake That she blinked her eyes open. She let out a groan as she sat up. Her neck felt stiff from sleeping in such an odd position. She was gonna harass the doctor for a way to contact him after this. She hated that she did not always know where he was going to be.
With Dabi slipping out of the car she slowly followed him out. She couldn't help but stretch out her stiff feeling body. Leading the way she walked towards the hospital, she easily walked like someone who belonged. Then again hospitals were not a foreign place to her, or they had not been after her few months working in Hosu's primary hospital. She led the way through the front of the hospital. The nurses at the desk were too busy with their own jobs to pay two people who did not look lost any attention.
Dabi was a bit amazed it was so easy. No one paid them any attention. And even though he was completely lost it seemed the woman he let lead the way was confident in where she was heading. Dabi almost asked if she had ever been there before. But he had a feeling that the answer would be no.
She may have looked like she knew where she was going but honestly she did not have a clue. She had never been to Jaku Hospital. But Rin knew that if someone just stood around and looked lost people would notice. If you walked like you knew where you were going and like you belonged then no one would notice a stranger walking among the crowd. Once the halls grew less congested with people Rin paused and glanced around.
"Ugh I hate large hospitals. Now what was it again the Doctor had told us about his secret lab," Rin was talking to herself as Dabi looked down at her as she glanced around.
"You mean to tell me you do not even know where we are in the hospital?" He asked with a growl down at her. She just waved him off.
"Not all hospitals are built the same, so no. But I do know how to maneuver around. I just need to remember what the Doc told me about finding his secret hidden area," she said as she started walking again, this time looking at the walls. She walked till she could find what she was looking for.
"Here we are," she sighs with relief when she spots the little door that looked like any normal spot among the hall. It took her another second to find the button she needed. It opened up to a tiny elevator. Stepping in she could feel Dabi's body heat quickly fill the small space and make it feel warm as they waited for the elevator to descend down.
The elevator opened straight into a dark hallway. It didn't matter she knew where it led, so bright lights were not needed. It led into a larger room, this one was primarily lit up by all the test tubes that were lined up throughout the large open room. In some ways it tickled the medical side of her mind. The once nurse side of her mind wanted to talk medicine with the Doctor but she had a feeling their desires in what to talk about would vary vastly. And she knew there was no way that Dabi would put up with her getting geeky with the Doctor.
As the door opened the two of them were greeted with the dark underground hidden laboratory. At first she could not see anyone, she stepped into the large dark area and felt Dabi following behind her. The amount of tubes and pipes that ran across almost every surface made the area only the more creepy. Hell, as long as she did not find herself in one of the glass containers being mutated into a nomu she did not care. She did not even glance at the glowing containers as she walked through the lab. She came to where a large computer screen sat among the tubes. Sitting in the chair before the computer was the short old doctor. He did not even glance over at the two league members walking towards him.
"And what can I do for the two of you today?" He asked, as stubby little fingers clicking at the keys of the keyboard in front of him. Rin could only assume that he had security camera's or something set up at the very least in the hallways leading to his little hidden lab.
"We got a question for you Doc," Dabi beat Rin to saying the same thing. That seemed to get at least a head tilt in their direction.
"Oh and what is it?" The short old man asked as he looked over his shoulder at them for a second.
"We want to cause a little chaos, test a little birdy. And it seemed like this may also be a good way to test some of your experiments," Rin beat Dabi to the short explanation. That had the typing stop and the chair was spun to face them.
"And why should I give you one of my experiments?" He asked with an arch of an eyebrow at the duo.
"Simple. To see how they compare to a top hero or two," Rin said calmly even as she could feel Dabi growing impatient quickly. She watched the Doctor give her a bored look. Clearly not yet sold on the idea on handing over one of his precious experiments.
"We do not require anything top notch. But we would like to cause a little chaos. We learned some fun information about a particular top hero. And it will be fun to both fuck with him and maybe cause some destruction. The plan is to turn a Nomu loose. Have hawks draw in a well known hero and hopefully have your Nomu kill a few people," Rin said, adding to the plan she was coming up with.
She had seen the destruction of what just 3 of those things did in Hosu all those many months ago. To think she would now be suggesting that they repeat that event but with something stronger should have scared her. She knew the amount of innocent people that would be caught in the crossfire. And yet it did not bother her. When had she grown so numb to harming others? It had not been that long ago when she told Shigaraki that she would not kill someone. Had the fight with Re-Destro and seeing the oncoming war truly changed her so much? Or was it simply because this was what Dabi wanted? And if he wanted her to, she would kill anyone he asked.
That realization should have scared her. The devotion she had to him was in no way healthy, and she knew it. Yet she did not care. Why should she? Who was going to be upset with her bad decisions? She had no living family. No, the league had grown to be more like her family than anyone else in her life ever had. Toga's smile made her happy. Spinner was a good guy when you chatted with him and got to know him past his mutation, Mr. Compress was always fun to chat with and kept her entertained whenever she grew bored. Shigaraki was trying to make them all a better world. And she wanted the same. She wanted to see them all happy. But more than anything she wanted to see Dabi happy.
The Doctor had been silent as he looked over at them. Seemingly he was thinking over what she was asking for. She had expected some push back, after all the league was not Shigaraki. But with Shigaraki gone, would he still say no to something that could help them? And in turn could potentially help Shigaraki. She was prepared to continue to explain the plan she was coming up with on the spot. But it seemed she did not need to explain more.
She watched the Doctor turn and start to type at his computer screen once again. For a second she thought he was going to send the two of them on their way. But instead she was surprised.
"Fine. I will give you one high end Nomu. But there is one requirement," she could see him glancing at them through the reflection of the screens in front of him. She stood and waited silently to hear what the conditions were, "you are to prevent the death, destruction and capture of my test subject."
That was it? Well it made sense. The hero's had captured other nomu and she could understand why the Doctor would not want to loose his valuable test subjects. Even if the nomu was killed, the Doctor could still use the remains. It also probably was not smart in allowing the hero's to get their hands on such important information that the nomu possessed.
"Alright that seems fair enough. After all, we don't need the hero's getting their hands on such important information such as your different types of nomu's. We will do everything we can to keep the hero's from destroying or taking your hard work," she agreed and gave a nod of her head.
"Good. Now leave. You're interrupting my work," of course he was blunt with them. She bit her tongue and glared at Dabi to make sure he too kept his mouth shut.
Silently she turned and started walking back towards where they had come from. She did not bother looking at any of the tubes they walked past. She was sure she had little desire to see what the man was actually creating. Was it an interesting idea that they could create bodies with mutated and even multiple quirks? Yes. But she also knew deep down that however they were doing it, was not ethical. She felt bad for those who were turned into those monsters. And she could only hope that when she had been told the bodies used were of the dead that it was true. She chose to ignore the thoughts of what was happening if the people were alive.
"Fuck that guy is annoying," Dabi growled before there were even out of the room with all the tubes.
"Maybe. But he is important. He makes the nomu, controls this hospital and is the only one who knows where and what Shigaraki is doing to get stronger. In the meantime we need to do what he wants. Especially when we are asking him for help," she tells him as they walk back towards the little hidden door that led them into the secret area and back out into one of the main hallways of the hospital.
From there she easily and quickly led the way out of the hospital. She could tell Dabi was pouting like a child. He really did hate being told what to do. But still even he knew she was right. And they still needed the Doctor so keeping him happy was a bit important. As they were walking out of the hospital and away from prying ears Dabi spoke up.
"So what's this plan you got cooking in that tiny brain of yours?" He asked as they walked a few blocks before waiting for their car to arrive and take them back to the villa.
"Easy. Hawk knows we still don't trust him. And he will always operate that way. Even anyone who openly believes him he will treat like a threat to his secret. Since he will know we still don't trust him it becomes easy for him to not be surprised when he is requested to do tasks that make it clear we are still testing him. As such we will tell him we wish to test the capabilities of a nomu. Tell him that we wish to have him bring us a strong hero to test the nomu against. We will set up a time and place. We will turn the high end loose on him. Maybe if we are lucky the high end will kill him. I will plan out a time and place within the next day. Skeptic should have surveillance on him already if not we will make sure he does by then. If we can kill him it would be ideal. Knocking the number two hero off the charts and out of our hair will make the oncoming war easier," she explained as they waited, the car pulled up, and they both slid into the back seat.
"Oh that sexy little brain of yours is really working in overdrive today," Dabi smirked at her as they sat side by side in the backseat of the basic black car. She was nearly glowing under his praise. Even if the praise was also a backhanded insult she did not care.
"Yes, the idea is quickly coming to me. Hawk is gonna be desperate to learn about us and who is important. But most of all he is going to want to get close to Shigaraki. We can make up some excuse about Shigaraki wanting to see him after, if things go well. I am sure that will have him easily agreeing to our plan. The key will be to pick a time and place. It should be soon though. November is almost over. He has not realized Shigaraki is away getting stronger. We need to take advantage of the lie now," she said alreading thinking of the plan and how it should work out in her mind. The different opportunities and outcomes enticed her to plan it well. They should choose a decent sized city. One that is home of a well known hero. Oh but they should not go to far from Hawk's territory where he patrols or it could be weird seeing him to far north.
"It should be somewhere in Kyushu. That way it's not too strange to see the pigeon around and the hero's in the area would know and trust him. If he was spotted even as far north as Kyoto it would be odd. We don't want anyone not involved catching on. Hawk's is undercover, the other hero's probably have not all been made aware of his undercover status. We don't yet need someone asking questions. If anything it would be nice if we could kill Hawk's and release the information of his death ourselves, as I am sure the commision could try to hide if they loose their valued little puppet," she was talking as she brainstormed. And Dabi just let her. He rather enjoyed listening to how her little mind twisted. Only weeks ago she refused to kill people. And now she was planning the attempted murder of the number two hero.
Dabi would like to think she was starting to become as twisted as he was. And he loved it as a grin tugged at his lips so hard he could feel the staples along his lips pulling at his skin.
