[LOG FILE #018 – AGON WASTES, AETHER]

If the battle cry of Space Pirates didn't immediately put me on alert, then the sound of thrusters definitely did. And where there were thruster sounds in Pirate territory, there were Pirate Aerotroopers.

Sure enough, two Aerotroopers flew down from the ceiling and started firing blaster shots at me. The shots were easy enough to dodge, and so were their missiles. I was more concerned with their well-known third option of attack. Focusing them down one at a time with a combination of Power Beam and my own missiles, they eventually utilized that third option: the kamikaze dive. Luckily for me they only go in straight lines when doing so, making dodging the dives fairly simple.

Once the chamber was cleared I took a look around. In the center were three pillars reaching all the way to the ceiling. Each pillar had three large blocks that looked like they could be controlled to move up or down. Spotting some nearby terminals I got to work.

While adjusting the blocks I noticed that there was not only a door on a high alcove opposite where I came in, there was also an energy tank in another alcove directly above where I entered. I adjusted the blocks to reach the latter alcove first. More energy for my suit meant higher chances of survival, after all. Once I had picked it up I went to work arranging the blocks to reach the door. The task soon finished and I made my way up to the upper door to continue on.

The following hallway was simple enough. Turning into my Morph Ball to enter the small hole I rolled through a small maze to be greeted on the other side by another door. I entered the next room to find a Recharging Station. I utilized the opportunity to top off my energy levels, as I had the feeling I would be needing all I could manage soon enough.

Proceeding into the next chamber I was met with two easily-dispatched turrets and what seemed like a dead-end. But logically, automated defenses don't get placed in a dead-end. A quick scan revealed a nearby brinstone wall with stress fractures, which I destroyed with a single missile to reveal a passage.

Naturally I continued down the passage to the next room. My entry point was what appeared to be an elevated observation deck overlooking a central reactor. I immediately noticed two things. The first thing I noticed was that the reactor contained a large amount of phazon, which seemed to be the power source. The second thing I noticed was my phazon doppelganger…
