[LOG FILE #028 – DARK AGON WASTES, DARK AETHER]

Upon landing in the arena I did a quick survey of my surroundings with my scan visor. In the center was a giant sphere. While the scan showed that unknown xenotech was inside the sphere, it also mentioned that the Amorbis drew power from the sphere.

I was wondering what an Amorbis could be when the ground started to shake. Three giant worm-like creatures emerged from the surface; I now knew what an Amorbis was. Two of the beasts dived back underground, the third looked at me for a few seconds. Eventually that one dived right at me. Thankfully it was slow enough that I could dive out of the way in time.

Keeping the scan visor on I scanned the first one to emerge again. The results showed that the creatures were vulnerable to all manner of weapons fire, but were also strong and resistant to pain. This was going to be a rough battle for sure.

As if to emphasize that point, the Amorbis attached itself to the sphere and seemed to grow a shell of armor. Another scan revealed that this particular form had a weak spot in it's mouth which was vulnerable to my morph ball bombs. I now had a way to hurt it, which meant it was time to exploit that.

Equipping my missiles I aimed at the head to destroy the armor on that section. It took four missiles for the break to occur, at which point the Amorbis fell to the ground and started drawing me in like a vacuum. I activated my morph ball, knowing that what was coming would be necessary, but gross all the same. The worm sucked me into its mouth, and I immediately activated a bomb to avoid spending more time in there than I needed to. The bomb worked, as the beast cried out in agony and spit me back out. As it writhed in pain the tail end attached to the sphere rose up and slammed back down to the ground, causing the orb to crack.

The Amorbis went back under the surface, and this time two of them leaped out of the ground. I focused fire on their heads again, this time with my charge beam to conserve missiles. After both had taken sufficient damage they attached to the sphere. Having two of them now granted them a powerful beam attack that swept across the arena. I managed to dodge the first pass, but took a nasty hit when the beam reversed direction. Granted, it was nothing I couldn't handle.

I repeated the missile and bomb process yet again, this time having to deal with each Amorbis one at a time. After damaging both the same way they vanished again, but not before slamming the sphere down onto the ground a second time. Then all three of the beasts came out of the ground. They didn't seem to give up, but neither did I.

Going through the process a third time proved to be the charm. As they were defeated one by one, the third and final Amorbis slammed the sphere into the ground yet again before the beast exploded. The battle was finally over. But then the sphere started glowing from the cracks…
