[LOG FILE 036: TORVUS BOG, AETHER]
My arrival back on Aether was uneventful, but only for a brief moment. I hadn't even taken two steps from the portal when I heard the sound of Space Pirate warp beacons. My foes that appeared before me were not immediately recognizable, as it seemed they had been possessed by the Ing. I knew I only had a few moments before they would open fire, and used that time to activate the Scan Visor.
These Dark Pirate Commandos definitely looked like tough foes, if my scan was any indication. Not only did they wield dark beams and EMP grenades, the Hunter Ing that possessed them gave these Pirates the ability to phase out of local timespace. The mention of the Hunter Ing concerned me, as I had not yet run into one of those yet. And if they could possess such powerful Space Pirate troops, then what could stop them from attempting to possess me…
The sound of beeping approaching my position snapped me out of my thoughts, just in time for me to dodge away from a hurled EMP grenade. I locked on to one of the Commandos and fired a missile in response, but it went right through them as they phased out. Switching back to my Power Beam I fired a Charge Beam at the other as it started coming back into the local timespace. That blast made contact, but after the hit landed the creature phased back out.
The battle ended being a nuisance, albeit a short-lived one. After a few minutes both of the Dark Pirate Commandos disappeared into thin air. I hadn't killed either one, but I had a feeling I might run into more of them later. Perhaps next time my Light Beam would be a more effective method of engagement. With nothing left to do in that chamber I crossed the bridge that had been moved and picked up a nearby missile expansion before pressing on.
The next passage in the bog also ended up being uneventful, though I did see another missile expansion. This one was impossible to reach at the time however, as the only way to access it was via grapple point. Since my Grapple Beam was stolen by the Ing when I arrived on the planet, I'd have to come back for the item. I made a mental note to do so and continued.
After that passage I ended up back in a chamber I'd been in prior, one with a bridge that was too high to reach by jumping. Luckily my new entry point had a panel I could scan, which activated a nearby kinetic orb cannon. After clearing out the hostile wildlife in the room I switched to the Morph Ball and rolled into the cannon, the projectile path placing me on the bridge and giving me access further into it Torvus Bog…
