In collaboration with Jay The Average Fanboy, we present a brand new, Danny Phantom x Monster High crossover! Enjoy!
Disclaimer: We don't own Danny Phantom or Monster High.
Sitting on the bleachers, the fear leaders of Monster High were taking a break as their ghosty friend, Spectra Vondergeist, phased herself in. The ghost girl was the school gossip, sharing rumors and speculations on her blog, the aptly named Ghostly Gossip, and had been hearing through the grapevine of a coming party in a far off town.
"Amity Park? Never heard of it," Clawdeen Wolf remarked dryly, paying more attention on filing her claws. The werewolf ignored her petite friend on her phone.
Draculaura, the smallest of the group, and the one holding up her iCoffin, had searched the town online for any information. Forums, articles, and even video blogs, no grave was left undug.
"That's because monsters have just been hearing of it too. Well, for ghosts, phantoms, banshees, and spirits. Apparently, they just started showing up a year ago," Draculaura explained from her own independent research.
"Then why hasn't anyone been talking about it? You'd think Critter would have something crawling on the feed." Clawdeen was barely paying attention, wondering why this subject was being brought up.
Monster High was in New Salem, last the werewolf checked, a place far away from Amity Park. The facility was hidden in plain sight from humanity in the dark forest, making it was one of the many locations monsters and ghouls could gather in isolation. That distance alone was enough reason to ignore the small town, but that did not stop Spectra from continuing.
The ghost girl hummed cautiously as she looked away for a moment, lost in thought. The minute of silence felt like an hour for the company vampire, who was staring to bounce, unaware of the reasons why.
"Don't keep us in the dark!" Frankie leaned into the ghost girl. "Spill! Why is this place suddenly on the web?!"
"And why don't ghouls go there?" Lagoona added with a soft voice.
"Because of the turf fights." Spectra's wispy voice cut through the girl's thoughts like a giant cleaver.
"Turf fights!?" The ghouls cried simultaneously.
The ghost girl nodded, bringing up her laptop as she displayed photos. "Ever since ghosts showed up, there have been a lot of fights, spirits and phantoms against each other. This isn't anything new in the Ghost Zone, but here, a ghost can and will get into a fight. I've stayed away, but it seems there's one ghost that's claimed it as his own," she said, opening a document on a ghost with snowy white hair, glowing green eyes, and pasty skin in a black and white hazmat suit.
"Oh my ghoul, he's a screamboat!" Draculaura grabbed the computer, holding the screen to her face. The ghost boy could pass for one of the various crushes ghouls would see in magazines and Critter. "Why have we not seen him before?"
Spectra took back her device, looking at the picture with a blush and smile. She kept the display towards her friends, who seemed to share similar thoughts on the ghost boy's appearance.
Even Clawdeen couldn't ignore the photo, smirking with a fang sticking out as she stared. The boy was handsome with his green eyes and snowy white hair, almost reminding her of the moon. She could stare for hours, as could her friends.
Cleo de Nile, the head of the fear leaders, walked up with her long legs and arms wrapped in bandages. The mummy ghoul raised a pretty brow. A perk of having bandages, they kept her figure as colorful and beautiful as her ghoul friends. She waved her hand to the side dismissively as she stared.
"All this over a ghost?" Cleo asked in disbelief.
"This is Danny Phantom." Spectra pressed on the keyboard to flip through the minuscule photo collection. "From what I've gathered, every ghost that's entered Amity Park has fought him, only to be spirited back to the Ghost World—Zone...still not sure which one ghosts have decided to use."
"Spirited back?" Lagoona did not like the sound of the phrase, leaning away from the photo. "What does that mean?"
Spectra turned the laptop to her, typing away as she propped up various articles from the monster web. "According to my research, Danny Phantom captures ghosts and takes them back to the Ghost Zone, releasing them."
"Oh! Like catch and release. I see. That's mighty sporting of him." Lagoona nodded, glad there was a humane, or in this case, monster, side to these fights. Granted, a battle to the death was meaningless to spirits, but that meant things would go beyond ugly.
Beside Spectra, Ghoulia had made her way to the screen, looking over the articles. Her puzzled expression grew as she stared, rasping her questions in her native tongue.
"Aaaa..." Ghoulia asked, tapping a photo of Phantom.
"Ghoulia's got a point there." Clawdeen walked over to loom over her ghostly friend's shoulder. She stared at the ghost boy with a neutral face. "Why would this guy pick a fight with any ghosts just for stepping into town?"
The other ghouls murmured to themselves, agreeing with how violent that sounded. While monsters were not all pacifists, the notion of a ghost fighting off every spirit it saw was overkill. Not even the most anti-social would greet someone with fists thrown.
Spectra sighed, her black and purple eyes holding together her poker face as she riddled in her computer, pulling out more documents and research.
"This is just a rumor, even I'm not sure how much of it is true...but apparently Danny Phantom is something called a halfa," She explained.
"A what-a?" Cleo asked while the rest of the ghouls looked confused.
"A halfa," Spectra repeated.
"Halfa? What do you mean? Like Jackson and Holt?" Frankie glanced at a human student, the only one in Monster High, dressed in a geeky fashion with glasses. The two met eyes and turned away; emotions and their romantic past turned their attention away.
"That is what the ghosts call him, but that's all I could get. Most of the ghosts who know Danny Phantom are too dangerous for me to interview, and the Box Ghost was just annoying." Spectra covered her ears as her body shivered. "I could barely get a word in."
"Wait...if he's half ghost...what's the other half?" Clawdeed asked, confused.
"Normie," Spectra explained.
Her friends sent doubtful looks.
"Oh please. I know that hybrids have happened in the monster world like with Jackson Jekyll, but it's impossible to be both dead and alive at the same time...right?" Cleo was not buying the idea of a half-ghost, but her faith in such rejection was not absolute.
If there was one thing in the monster world, it was that there was still much to discover.
"I hate to admit it, but I agree with Cleo. It just doesn't make sense," Clawdeen said. She leaned in towards the photo, staring at the boy. Her friends gathered around as they joined in.
"I don't really see it. He looked abnormal to me," Draculaura said with a tilt of her head.
"How do you even know about this guy, Spectra?" Frankie asked.
"I only heard about him after the ghost king's release...aparently he lead a group of ghosts to fight and lock him back up before he took over the world," Spectra said.
"Ghosts have a king?" Clawdeen snarked with genuine interest behind her tone.
"Not really, but Pariah Dark was a tyrannical ghost that called himself the king, but he's locked away once again." Spectra pulled up photos of an enormous, menacing medieval spirit of an almost barbaric aesthetic nature, towering over a vast army of skeletons.
The ghouls gulped, wondering how such a frightening figure was sealed away. But their nightmares were pushed aside for current events.
"So...Danny stopped him. And you're sure about everything?" Frankie asked, as her friends seemed to calm down.
Even Cleo seemed a bit jolted upon hearing of Phantom's exploits.
"Again, this is what I heard. And that's why I'm going to Amity Park to investigate," The ghost girl explained, closing her laptop.
"You're going towards the town that has a cute but violent ghost boy?" Clawdeen had to reiterate her thoughts out loud, for her sake.
The werewolf girl had a screen shoved into her face, courtesy of Spectra. She saw a creep from a user called LavishAshli, an aptly named girl dressed lavishly, with details to make her look like a monster.
"According to this creep, Amity Park is holding a huge Halloween party. It's the talk of the entire Ghost Zone this week, mostly for haunting, but this should allow me to go unnoticed and write an article," Spectra explained over her iCoffin, perusing the internet for any details she might have missed.
"Really?" Frankie's eyes sparked with excitement and possibly real electricity as she smiled wide. The other ghouls rolled their eyes, feeling dread creep up their legs.
"Yep, they mostly plan on crashing it, even if they have to deal with ghost hunters." Spectra spoke nonchalantly, but the last part made her friends shriek and jump back.
"Ghost hunters!?" Draculaura gulped loudly for fear of her friend's potential fate. "Doesn't that mean—"
"Aaaaa!..." Ghoulia rasped, her tone still dry yet conveying her fearful thoughts.
"Exaclty! You could get hurt!" Frankie touched Spectra, reaching out to her friend as she patted the ectoplasmic girl's shoulder. Being the new ghoul at school had been tough, but purposely going into a ghostly war zone seemed worse than high school, even the one where monsters of all kinds could be found conversing together.
The patchwork monster girl watched as the ghost girl nodded silently as she was looking over the articles on her iCoffin. Amity Park sounds even more dangerous than a typical normie town, but that was not saying much compared to the supernatural threats the monster world held. She had no heart to let her friend go alone; it was too big.
And that's when Frankie had another of her crazy ideas.
"We'll come with you," Frankie said.
Her ghouls gasped as they retorted in surprise. If they knew one thing about Frankie Stein, once she had a crazy idea, she usually went through with it. And she always brought company with her, mainly them.
"Frankie, are you out of your mind?!" Cleo pulled her friend back.
"Yeah, are your bolts loose again?!" Clawdeen asked.
"My bolts are just find. I tightened them last night, thank you very much." Frankie stared at her friends, slightly annoyed by her friends' remark.
The ghouls stared back with equal exasperation.
While they would not be opposed to the idea of a party, going to a nowhere town they just heard of was ridiculous. The planning, coordination, and tickets alone would be enough to deter them, but not for Frankie Stein, who stood her ground.
"Ghouls, Spectra is our friend and she needs us. We can't let her go to such a dangerous place all alone," Frankie said softly.
"Wouldn't it just be easier NOT letting Spectra go to that party at all?" Cleo asked out loud.
"You know how Spectra gets. Once she has a scoop, no one can talk her out of it." Draculaura pointed at the nodding ghost girl with her head. The pink streaked vampire sighed, going to her phone for outfits.
"Moum..."
"Ghoulia's right. We'd need disguises to blend in, and I don't mean for Halloween." Clawdeen gestured to her outfit: a striped tank top with a leather jacket and micro skirt, with some spikes adorning tastefully on her top. "I doubt normies dress in chains and spikes."
"Come on ghouls, we've been through worse situations than this before." Frankie went around and wrapped her arms around her friends. "And it's not like we'll get into trouble. It's just one night, how bad could it be?"
Her friends resisted with growls and groans, each trying to find a reason to get out of going. Frankie looked at Spectra, who phased out to look at her phone. The ghost girl was dead set on going to Amity Park, with or without the others.
A feeing of guilt and dread swirled inside the ghouls before giving in with a collective sigh.
"Fine, but I'm bringing all my cursed artifacts along. No way I am risking a disaster...or worse..getting a broken nail at that place," Cleo said in her usual haughty way.
"Yeah, we'll go," Draculaura said, while the other ghouls nodded.
"I guess we got your back, ghoul friend," Clawdeen remarked.
Frankie smiled, as she and her friends began to make plans to go to Amity Park. She tapped Spectra to ensure the ghost girl knew what was going on as they left the cafeteria to plan in private.
So I have been talking to Jay The Average Fanboy for a a while now, and we got to work on this crossover story. This is going to be our version of a Danny Phantom x Monster High crossover, given that a real one is highly unlikely.
Please let us know what you think with reviews as we progress. Thank you and have a good day.
