Within days the being possessing Cole, the essence of evil that was the true Source, began to exert its influence. But not just over him, over Phoebe as well and Cordelia too by managing to make Cole cast a spell that would block them both from getting premonitions and visions that involved Cole.

That night as Phoebe slept beside him in their bed, Cole twisted in a nightmare. He crept across the Source's chamber, sword raised to strike the hooded figure and froze as it turned around. Horror washed through him as he was forced to watch the disfigured face morph and become his own, as through he was looking in a mirror. He struck with the sword and to his further horror, the sword passed right though the image. Which then solidified and knocked him to the ground.

"We're one now. I'm reborn, within you." The Source told him, smirking and enjoying the fear pouring off Cole.

"I'll fight it. I'll kill us both if I have to. I won't let you hurt Phoebe!" Cole swore vehemently.

"You won't be allowed a choice." The Source as Cole bent down and picked up Cole's sword and stabbed it down into his stomach, pinning him to the floor of the chamber as Cole screamed in agony and jerked awake, scrambling to check his belly for injury, he found none.

"Everything okay, Cole?" Phoebe asked sleepily, turning over to face him.

"Just a nightmare." The Source as Cole assured her. "Nothing new, right?" As it accessed Cole's memories and saw that he was haunted by Belthazor's actions, something that made the Source inwardly sneer.

"I need a caffeine IV." Phoebe announced the next morning as she shuffled into the kitchen.

"Did you have trouble sleeping?" Piper asked, pouring her a cup.

"No, but Cole did. He was gone when I woke up this morning. Nightmare last night." She sipped from the cup. "Mmm. He didn't want to talk about it, just went back to sleep."

"So both our guys are avoiding talking about scary things?" Piper sipped from her own cup. "But that doesn't explain why you look confused."

"Because I keep getting the feeling that precedes a premonition and nothing happens. Our powers are tied to our emotions and I think I'm having cold feet about getting engaged to Cole a couple of weeks ago."

"That's normal." Piper assured her. "I had them too after Leo proposed. Well, after the second time he proposed. The first time I was too upset because I thought he just did as an end run around the Elders' rules. And it kinda was. But the second time, after we finally got through the hurdles they kept throwing in our way, I got a knot in my gut almost as soon as I said yes. And then I was fine. Until Prue's astral self wrecked my wedding, I mean."

"Then you nearly gave up." Phoebe sighed. "I need to figure this out because it's messing with my powers and my premonitions give us important heads up." She stood up. "I'll be upstairs trying to think this though. If I can figure out why I've got cold feet, maybe I can deal with it."

"You have cold feet because you always insisted you'd never get married." Piper answered, setting both their empty cups in the sink after rinsing them. "And accidentally putting a spell on yourself when you tried on Grams' wedding ring didn't help with that."

"To be fair, Grams put the spell on her ring, to remind herself why she was three times divorced, to remind herself, loving a man didn't mean she didn't also hate the whole idea of marriage and to not put either herself or a man through her annoyance with it again."

"Well, I have to go try to convince my guy to talk to me about his concerns, so I'll talk to you later." Piper headed to hers and Leo's room and Phoebe made her way to the attic to try to find an answer to her dilemma.

In the Underworld the Seer patiently waited and her patience was rewarded as Cole flamed in. He looked around, scared and saw the Seer, recognizing her.

"How did I get here?" He questioned her

"The Source's Magic brought you. I see you accepting that very soon. Or more accurately, no longer being able to fight it." She smiled, confident.

He tried to grab her and fell to his knees. "You can not change your fate. As you can see the evil within you won't allow it." She told him. "There's nothing you can do to stop it."

"I'll fight it, I'll kill it. I'll find a way." Cole insisted

"There is no way. If you weren't clinging to the love for your witch so vigorously, it would've over taken you by now. It is only a matter of time and after the Source has fully assimilated you, it will be too late to save you. That we can wait for, unfortunately with Kurzon we can not."

Cole stood up. "Kurzon?"

"The Underworld's in chaos. The Source is presumed dead and Kurzon will attempt to fill that void. We must stop him or you will never be able to claim the throne."

"I don't want the throne."

"You will, but at the moment you're not strong enough to vanquish Kurzon. The Charmed Ones, however, are."

"And what, you expect them to just go after him?"

"No, I expect to make Kurzon think they will so he'll retaliate. And I expect you to make sure the witches are prepared to vanquish him before he can vanquish them."

"I won't do your bidding, Seer. You can't force me."

"Perhaps not. But the Source can." She smiled again, that same serene, confident smile as the Source's Magic teleported Cole out of her chamber.
