(Scenes from Legends of Tomorrow Season 4, Episodes 15 and 16)
Neron is broadcasting an infomercial exposing the existence of magical creatures. Using Dr. Palmer as his persona, he states they will stop at nothing until all mankind is destroyed. He also invites everyone keen on learning more to join him at PalmerX 2019. I have played the same commercial to the Legends and Director Sharpe. "I don't care if Neron is wearing my best friend's face," Dr. Heywood chafes. "I want to punch him."
"Get in line," Mr. Rory states while having his daily beer. Charlie is outraged at the advertisement's inaccurate portrayal of ogres. She describes them as "big softies" who "wouldn't even hurt a fly".
"Neron's been a step ahead of us for too long," Captain Lance declares. "We need to play offense."
Director Sharpe says, "Agreed."
Miss Tomaz questions, "Sorry, what are we agreeing to?"
"Look, it's time for us to fight back," the captain rephrases. She proposes regaining control of the Time Bureau. "Gideon, pull up the blueprints at the Bureau and start fabricating an arsenal."
"Right away, Captain."
"Gary has bonded with the Fairy Godmother, and while he might be an idiot, she is not to be underestimated. Nate, Mick, do you think you can handle Tabitha?"
"Granny's dead," the ex-con answers.
"Good. Ava and I will handle Neron."
"Yeah," the glaring director attests, "I want a crack at him. It's my Bureau he's running his operation from." After what he did to her, it goes beyond personal.
"Not to be a buzzkill," the hacktivist interjects, "but neither John nor Nora could out-magic Neron." The conversation is halted with the historian notifying that Wickstable is kicking. The shapeshifter and Miss Tomaz feel and shower the egg with adoration. They suggest biding time until Mr. Constantine returns with Dr. Palmer's soul.
Captain Lance isn't in the mood. "Can you guys stop being dragon-baby crazy right now? Look, this commercial is proof that Neron is up to something big, and we need to stop him before it's too late."
I entail, "Captain, I have an incoming communication from Nora Darhk."
"Put her on."
"Sara," Miss Darhk speaks.
"Talk to me. What's your status?"
"I'm tired of skulking around air ducts. I'm going after Mona."
"Whoa, we're gearing up for an assault," Director Sharpe protests. "Hold your position."
"Too late."
"Wait, where's Gary," Dr. Heywood inquires.
"In Ava's office... getting really comfortable." From what I can infer, Agent Green apparently enjoys the perks of having a Fairy Godmother. Miss Darhk finds Miss Wu in the prison sector. The latter is being tortured by Neron and his cronies.
The Legends and Director Sharpe are weaponizing themselves for the arsenal. Captain Lance has joined them in the cargo bay. "As soon as Ava opens that portal, we go in firing."
"Time to burn up some freaks," Mr. Rory asserts.
The director marks the time on her courier. "Opening a portal in three, two, one." Much to the others' confusion, she and the captain are dissolved into sparkles posthaste. Dr. Heywood calls them, "Sara, Ava, come in. Where are you guys?"
"Hey, Nate. Can't talk right now," Captain Lance replies. "Gary says hi, and we're at book club." Involuntarily. She grumbles, "Move to Plan B." I didn't hear about a Plan B.
"What's Plan B," Miss Tomaz inquires.
"I assume it's like Plan A," her boyfriend dubiously responds, "but, you know, with less people."
"Well, without the captain and the clone, the Bureau's a suicide mission."
"Mick's right." The engineer then has an inkling. "We need to sneak into PalmerX, do some recon, and find out what Neron is up to."
"Now, that sounds like a plan, Z," Charlie favorably asserts. They leave for the expo via another portal.
There is still no word from Captain Lance and Director Sharpe. Out of nowhere, they are strapped into two passenger seats. A smirking Agent Green stands in front of them. "Welcome aboard, Captain Green," I greet him. He titters in response. Imagine having him as your captain. Multiply that with zero, and you'll have the number of times it should happen. This formulaic scenario is nullified in my case. My holograph appears over the control panel. Drawing near me, he has an awestruck expression on his face. I suppose it's his first time seeing mine. "I'm detecting a Fugitive alert—" I giggle as his index finger strokes my cheek. "Stop it. —at the Inquisition, Captain Green." How does he know I'm ticklish?
"Oh, I don't do violence or torture," he admits.
"Is that so?"
"Could've fooled me," I hear Director Sharpe cavil.
"Hey, play nice," Captain Lance whispers to her. He tickles me once more. "We have to distract Gary, while the 'B' team is plan B...ing."
I scan through an inventory of nonviolent anomalies. Apparently, there's more of those than violent ones. I recommend to Agent Green, "Would a fairy at the Great British Bake-Off suit your fancy?"
He leans closer and quips, "Shall we keep, uh... keep calm and pastry on?"
I laugh at his far-reaching joke. "I'll plot a course, Captain." He taps me on the nose prior to eagerly making a beeline towards the real captain and the director.
"Get it," he queries them. "'Keep calm and pastry on'?"
They start laughing forcibly. "Good one, Cap," Captain Lance beguiles.
"Hilarious," Director Sharpe complies.
"Thanks, guys." He notices how spacious the bridge currently is. "You know, I feel like a bridge scene should have more people."
"Oh, no," the captain falsifies, "we love three-people bridge scenes."
"Yeah, otherwise we just end up standing around all day," the director states.
"Oh, that's why Mick's always grumpy," the defector surmises. "That's what we're missing... the boys!" He calls for his Fairy Godmother. "I want Nate and Mick to join us on our adventure." With a wave of her wand, Dr. Heywood and Mr. Rory are seated next to Captain Lance and Director Sharpe. He takes her aside to make another wish.
"Sara, you guys okay," the historian inquires.
"Yeah, we're fine as long as we keep placating Gary. I guess Charlie and Z are our only hope."
"Great, we're toast," the ex-con grouches.
"Welcome to hell," the director bemoans. "Captain" Green returns to the bridge a split second later, wearing a costume like Dr. Heywood's Steel suit. "Good evening, this is your captain speaking," he proclaims, hastening to the ship's front. "We'll be cruising at a high altitude on our way to save a bakeoff in Britain." Captain Lance and Director Sharpe continue keeping up appearances with more cheers.
"Gary, is that the Kid Steel costume," the historian notes.
"Uh-huh." Agent Green flexes a pose for them. It's supposed to appear daring, but he makes it look goofy. "Do you like it?"
"Why would anyone wish to be a sidekick?" Heroes need help too sometimes.
"Close your legs," Mr. Rory grunts, further souring the awkward turncoat's disposition.
"Ugh, he's such an idiot," the director complains. As unsettling as this situation is, weren't they friends before?
Agent Green shifts in her direction. "What?"
"Oh, nothing," Captain Lance lies. "They're just teasing you."
Director Sharpe rescinds her grievance. "You're my Gare-bear." Gare-bear?
He sits near Dr. Heywood, remarking, "We're gonna have so much fun." Upon landing in the English countryside, the foursome goes to complete the "mission". I hide my holograph to dampen my smile. I was clearly larkish with Agent Green due to his Fairy Godmother's bewitchment. Furthermore, I only had one male captain. The eastern doors open; a pixie leads the group back to the bridge. "This little fairy was causing quite the fray around the soufflé," the "captain" jokes. Still not funny. He guides the fairy to the parlour, saying, "I think I know just the place for you, Madame."
The director immediately vents her exasperation after he is out of sight. "I can't take this anymore," she gripes to the captain.
"I'm gonna kill him," Mr. Rory affirms.
Captain Lance calls Miss Tomaz and Charlie. "Please tell me you have something," she requests in a hushed tone.
"Well, we found out Neron's app is a way to collect souls," the totem-bearer discloses.
"That's crazy."
"Yeah, it gets crazier. To drum up fear and increase downloads of his app, we think he may be planning a monster attack."
"Okay, we'll stall Gary, but you got to get every single one of those monsters out of the Time Bureau."
The shapeshifter chimes in, "I was afraid you were gonna say that."
Agent Green returns without the captain knowing. "Who are you talking to, Sara?"
She almost panics, "What? No one."
"Gary. Baby, buddy, bubbala," Dr. Heywood adulates. "There's a whole big world of problems. You know, Neron and your Fairy Godmother, they're not really your friends, but..." He snaps his fingers. "Do you know who your friends are? These guys are." He points his thumbs at himself and the others. Director Sharpe and Captain Lance are flashing insincere grins. Mr. Rory isn't so predisposed.
"Are you trying to schmooze me," the bumbling cadet queries. Yes.
"Feels good, does it?"
"Uh, actually, it feels a little false."
"Gary, you are our friend," the captain boldly remarks. The director is conveniently agreeable. "I mean, would we lie to an interim Legend?"
"Ah, you see, that's just it because I'm not an interim Legend. You promised me that to use me as bait." I was unaware of this.
Director Sharpe cannot curb her irritability anymore. "You know what, Gary? It's a little hard to feel sorry for you when you're holding us all hostage." She is inversely correct.
"You're not getting it." Contrary to popular opinion, Agent Green isn't entirely foolish. Tabitha has been goading him to wish harm to the Legends. So, he has exerted his position to thwart her efforts. While this is acutely crafty, why didn't he say so? "I get it. I'm not cool, but I don't deserve to be treated like a joke." He calls the Fairy Godmother to wish his revenge: for Mr. Rory to be coddled like a big baby; for Dr. Heywood to encounter his high school years; for Captain Lance and Director Sharpe, whom he calls "the cool girl" and "the class president" to tap dance at an exceedingly high speed. "Gary, stop it," the director orders through a gritted smile. I've believed that he isn't dangerous. I've wrongly underestimated him. We all did. Between reliving someone else's adolescent years and sucking on a pacifier in a crib, this is the most inhuman punishment he can give.
"This isn't you, Gary," the acne-ridden historian implores. "Why are you being so cruel?"
"Please," the captain tiringly begs.
"Stop, you're killing them," the coddled arsonist exclaims.
The average bureaucrat observes his actions. The immediate remorse manifests on his face. He excessively waves his hands at Tabitha. "I don't do mime, dearie."
"Just stop! Everything!"
She cagily grants his wish. The captain and the director collapse on the floor in exhaustion. Mr. Rory spits out his pacifier; his crib is gone. Dr. Heywood is good-looking again. The Fairy Godmother hears someone calling for her in the distance. "Uh, I have to pop off for a second, Gary."
"I thought we were going to play 'Settlers of Catan' later."
"Don't be silly." She callously reminds him, "We're not friends." With that said, Tabitha leaves her dejected ward. Agent Green strives excessively to win favor from everyone he knows. It doesn't justify mistreating him, even if he is vexatious.
Director Sharpe and Captain Lance rise to their feet. "I am so sorry, Gary," the former expresses. "I took you for granted. I never should've let you do my dry cleaning or work overtime without pay. I mean, that's illegal anyway. I'm so sorry."
"I still want to kill you," the churlish arsonist attests.
The captain addresses him next. "Gary, when Rip first recruited the Legends, he picked the people that were insignificant to history. The original losers. You don't have to be cool to be a Legend. Maybe we forgot that somewhere along the way, but you are one of us."
"Now, come on, Gary," the historian entreats. "Ray and Constantine are both stuck in Hell, and you can help them. Use your Fairy Godmother powers for good."
He considers it for a moment. By that, I mean a full 10 minutes. "There are pros to trusting your apologies are sincere, and there are cons." Dr. Heywood stops Mr. Rory from fulfilling his presage. "Maybe I'll make a list."
Director Sharpe silences him by uttering his name. I've assumed she's going to get hot under the collar. She instead holds her hands in earnest supplication. "Gary, just go with your heart."
He intently summons, "Oh, Fairy Godmother." Everyone excluding him acknowledges a drastic change in her appearance. Mainly, it isn't Tabitha in the blue taffeta gown but Miss Darhk. "Go find John and help him rescue Ray from Hell."
"Oh, fiddlesticks," she murmurs. The others' dissenting efforts are in vain. Miss Darhk is sucked into the portal, shouting, "Gary, you dick!" It disappears before he looks behind him. At the same time, I uncovered an opening from the Time Bureau. All the magical creatures are boarding the Waverider. During this, Miss Tomaz has brought Miss Wu to the medbay.
I inform the Legends of the magical creatures in the lab. They scrutinize the unusual assortment. "It's like a demented Noah's Ark," Dr. Heywood evaluates. Captain Lance walks up and gives Director Sharpe's shoulder a squeeze.
"What about Charlie," Miss Tomaz bemoans. The shapeshifter has willingly allowed herself to be taken captive by Neron and Tabitha. "It's my fault. I was the one who convinced her to risk everything."
"Hey, don't go down that road," the captain desists. "We'll do what we always do."
"Yeah, forming stupid Beebos," Mr. Rory comments.
A sullen Agent Green begins walking away. Captain Lance stops him in his tracks. "Hey, where are you going?"
"Well, after everything, I just figured you wouldn't want to have me around anymore."
She corroborates with a real smile, "It's all hands on deck, Gary."
"Yeah," the director reassures, "we're gonna need all our friends to defeat Neron."
He is touched by the genuine invitation. "Aye, aye." After everything, it's better to have him as an ally than an enemy. On the flip side, Dr. Heywood comforts his downcast girlfriend with a hug, only for her to remember Wickstable when he mentions the egg.
With the Waverider full of humans and supernatural creatures, it's crowded as it is. The fairy from the British bake-off is flying loose in the corridors. Captain Lance, who's walking by, almost swats the little pixie. Miss Wu crashes into her, asking, "You wouldn't, by chance, see an ogre wandering around here—" She extends her arm high towards the ceiling. "—this tall, drinks beer?"
"Ask Rory." The impatient captain flounces out. Ironically, he and the ogre are having their fourth beer match in the Galley. The latter remains superior, much to the arsonist's disbelief. Ex-Agent Green enters to return the ogre to the lab. He changes the former's mind by intimidatingly chomping on the glass bottle. He then decides on searching for the Minotaur. Speaking of whom, Dr. Heywood distracts him with Al Hazan's "Whiskey Woman" in the parlour. The historian then assures Miss Tomaz that she isn't a horrible mother. She has accidentally left Wickstable at her childhood home.
Director Sharpe instantaneously crosses the threshold of the parlour. "Have anybody seen Gary?" The pair hoped she didn't hear the computer specialist's words. "Wait, what did you just say? I was distracted."
"I just found out the Eyes apps is stealing people's souls, and then baby-me comes home, and I—I..."
The director folds her arms, interjecting, "You two need to grab that egg before it hatches. We can't risk Ne-ray getting his hands on a baby dragon. It's already bad enough that he has Charlie." Dr. Heywood and Miss Tomaz accordingly depart for present-day Washington D.C.
"Captain, I've located Neron," I notify after she joins Director Sharpe in the bridge. "Now live in Capitol Hill, where the PalmerX CEO is testifying before the Senate subcommittee." I show them the feed of the preceding testimonial. Senator Edgar P. Wellington seems apprehensive upon being addressed. He enlightens how Neron is inciting fear in humans to harvest their souls for his app. The second he uttered the word "bloke", I've realized that Charlie is impersonating the senator. (S)He was saying that "there's no such thing as monsters" when (s)he shifts into Tagumo without warning. The subcommittee and the reporters disperse in fright. Neron uses this to further motivate the public to retaliate.
Captain Lance recruits Mr. Rory to handle the situation. Upon returning, they carry a fatigued Charlie into the medbay. Her transformations were induced by Tabitha's staff. In the bridge, I show the captain and Director Sharpe the resultant upheaval from the attack. "Enough, Gideon," she declares. I shut off the news; she drifts away from the control panel.
"Where's Neron in all of this," the director inquires. "Why isn't he responding to his magical-creature alerts?"
"What alerts? All the creatures are here on the ship."
"You know what? It doesn't even matter. Neron's shown the world that anyone can be a monster. People are turning on each other. Everyone's terrified."
A puzzled Captain Lance meanders the floor. "I thought Neron wanted to collect souls. How does hacking the app only to let it fail get him what he wants?"
Charlie alerts them to her entrance. "It's not about souls anymore. It's something worse. Well, they didn't share their endgame, but from what I could figure out, they don't give a 'fa' about ruling Hell. It's fear they are actually after."
"Why?"
"Fear is power. It's energy, and thanks to me, they have a wallop of it to muck about with."
"That might explain the strange meteorological event forming over Washington D.C.," I communicate.
"Right above the Time Bureau," Director Sharpe surmises. She, the captain, and the shapeshifter observe the analysis I've projected on the control panel. "Gideon, do you have a visual?" On it. Red energy waves are cascading into the sky. "You're welcome, world," Charlie despondently remarks prior to leaving the bridge.
On the other side of the Waverider, ex-Agent Green and Miss Wu are about to serve lunch to the magical creatures. She advises him to "stay calm" since they can smell fear. The former bureaucrat questions, "What if fear is my natural smell?" Oh, good grief. His ex-associate flutters her eyes without looking at him once. While they enter the lab, they are repugnant by the odor. The mystical creatures, squirrelly from the limited space, all devour the contents of the lunch cart. Ex-Agent Green and Miss Wu race out of the lab. They reconvene in the parlour with the other Legends. "They are savages," he criticizes.
"Oh, calm down, Gary," Dr. Heywood understates.
The Kaupe indicates, "The longer we keep those magical creatures locked up, the more they're gonna act like actual monsters."
"They are monsters, you twit," a surly Charlie refutes, "and so are you." She nurses her glass of scotch. "We all are."
"How are we supposed to defeat fear itself?" Captain Lance ascends from her seat. "I mean, people are afraid of Metas, magical creatures are afraid of people, and... monsters hated by everyone."
Miss Tomaz sits up with an idea. "Not quite. Gideon, play the..."
"The dancing dragon sneeze video?"
"Yeah." The Legends watch the computer engineer's present-day self telling a newly hatched Wickstable to dance for her peers. The performance ends with amazed cheers and a standing ovation. This innocuous moment was captured before the Bureau agents extracted the baby dragon. Miss Tomaz herself resonates with that fleeting memory as she became well-liked by the other children. Her words remind Dr. Heywood of his father's sales pitch for something called HeyWorld.
"Wait, what's... what," Director Sharpe questions. I second that. The historian divulges how his father's secret operation was an amusement park where humans could witness the wonders of magic. This was why he had corralled the magical creatures in the last few months. Dr. Heywood suggests finalizing its postponed construction. The shapeshifter retorts, "What, so they can just shoot us all in one place? That's bloody brilliant, aye."
Captain Lance has a better understanding of what he's implying. "No, so they can see creatures the way you helped us see creatures, Charlie. Not as monsters, but as misfits just trying to find their place. Look, if we can learn that lesson, then so can the rest of the world. We just need to bring people and creatures together."
"Think of it as a magical version of Woodstock, Dr. Heywood describes.
The captain starts plotting aloud. "If we build it..."
Her partner stands up, finishing, "...they will come." Everyone is receptive to the idea; Charlie even comes around.
"How long until we can get this up and running," Captain Lance queries the historian.
"Uh, if Mikey T and the boys work on the weekends..." He calculates the mathematics in his head. The final answer diminishes the other Legends' enthusiasm. "Two, maybe three years." They muse over a way to accelerate the construction process in the bridge. Miss Tomaz suggests using Brigid's diary.
"Z, you're a genius," the captain proclaims. Behind her, Dr. Heywood imitates a mind explosion with his hands. "The... Ugh, it's in the Time Bureau."
"It's okay," a descending Director Sharpe asserts, "so we just break in, but it's not gonna be easy. Even if it isn't demon central, the vault that it's being held in is practically impenetrable." As she utters this, Mr. Rory strolls in with the stolen diary. The obliged director grabs his face and kisses him on the right cheek. What a response. The arsonist lends the book to the historian, saying he wants it back after he's done to continue writing Buck and Garima's odyssey.
Just like that, the scheming commences. "All right, team. Nate, you have a theme park to dream up. Gary, help Mona 'Pretty Woman' our creatures into something a little more kid friendly." The pair high-five before heading to the lab. "As for the rest of us, it's time to come up with a marketing plan for the happiest place on the planet."
Miss Tomaz joins Dr. Heywood in the library. As the historian is about to draw HeyWorld, I delivered some news to her. "Your simulation program has detected a change in your presently predicted future."
"Good change or bad change?"
"In one potential 2042, building HeyWorld leads to an era of understanding and tolerance. The Anti-Metahuman Act of 2029 never passes, and your parents live out their lives peacefully in Seattle. The future, as you know it, would be completely changed." My report causes tears to well up in the hacktivist's eyes. Her boyfriend leaves his seat and stands next to her. He surmises this as good news. She admits to losing hope over her software some time ago. In addition, Miss Tomaz's brother would survive and attain the Air totem. This also means that her two-year involvement with the Legends—including Dr. Heywood—would be repudiated. To formally answer her query, the change is bittersweet. She laments this, "Who knows where I'll be or who I'll be?"
"You'll be you." They turn to see Captain Lance in the doorway. She steps in, declaring, "Because while we're at HeyWorld, you'll be here on the ship in the temporal zone. And you'll be safe."
The computer specialist wipes her eye. "Sara, I can't... I can't sit this out."
"Look, I'm not gonna lose another Legend. And who says we're not putting you to work? We need to make sure what happens at HeyWorld is seen globally."
"I can use the Eyes app as a backdoor into the phones that downloaded it." She proceeds on doing so. Dr. Heywood turns to the captain, softly thanking her. He receives a light squeeze on the shoulder. She exits shortly after this.
The marketing plan is coordinated. Now, it's time to create an advertisement. Supergirl, the Green Arrow, and the Flash are in front of the camera. I control the lighting. Miss Tomaz uses her wind powers for dramatic effects. Director Sharpe provides the voice-over. "When the world needs heroes, they answer the call."
"We'll be at HeyWorld, the new adventure capital of eastern Maryland," the "Girl of Steel" giggles.
The "emerald-clad archer" fires an arrow, saying, "Where we will hit fun in the bull's-eye."
The "scarlet speedster" makes a running pose. "And we'll give you children a flash... of excitement." They hold their positions a little longer.
"And cut," the director calls. She stops recording, and I turn on the lights.
"That was good, guys," Captain Lance opines in her Supergirl costume.
The Green Arrow flips off his hood, revealing himself as Dr. Heywood. "It felt good."
"It was a great take," ex-Agent Green, who is dressed as the Flash, observes.
"Guys," Miss Tomaz comments, "I felt like it would work a little better with the real Trinity." I must agree.
"Yeah, well, I asked," the captain justifies, "and they said, 'Hard pass'." From the way her gaze was on the historian, one can presume he was to blame for their refusal.
He murmurs, "We should've done the crossover."
"Yep."
"Well, who needs the Trinity," the former agent argues. "I mean, the Legends are super enough."
"But HeyWorld isn't a superhero park," Director Sharpe notes. "Promising them something and giving them something else feels... I don't know..." Dodgy? "Wrong, doesn't it?"
"People aren't going to a park filled with things they're terrified of," Captain Lance states. "People need franchise superheroes to feel safe, so that's how we are gonna get them in the door."
Meanwhile, Miss Wu is having difficulties preparing the magical creatures. None of them trusts her; to them, she's a mere human. On top of that, they feel as if they were transferred from one prison to another. Charlie tells them that HeyWorld is their one shot at changing how humans see them. Miss Wu shows she's one of them by transforming into Wolfie. The ogre, whose name is Frederic, shows his gentle side and discloses his talent for singing. The Minotaur turns out to be musically inclined. One by one, the creatures share their hidden gifts. The world is in for a treat.
In the Galley, ex-Agent Green is making a sandwich for the chupacabra. Miss Darhk and Mr. Constantine's return shocks him into dropping a bottle of hot sauce. I'll fabricate another one later. Jubilant that his wish has worked, he greets the weary sorcerer with a hug. Miss Darhk wonders why Dr. Palmer isn't with them. Mr. Constantine explains that, since Neron is using the astrophysicist's body, his soul is concealed in the form of a coin. Not even magic can revert him back. The soothsayer supposes the Legends already have something planned. Ex-Agent Green eagerly details the arrangements in question. Miss Darhk is more or less acceptive. Mr. Constantine? Well...
"This isn't playtime, you twits," he exclaims to Captain Lance and Dr. Heywood in the parlour. "Neron is using fear to open up the gates of Hell."
"Well, that's why we have to fight fear with something wonderful," the historian replies. "We have to show the world that these magical creatures are just that... they're magical."
"And everyone else is on board with this?" I believe it can work. The former and the captain exchanged a glance prior to reaffirming. "Bloody hell."
"All right, great," Captain Lance heeds. "Well, now that you're all on board, we have work to do." They are close to exiting the parlour when the sorcerer stops them. According to him, Neron has Dr. Palmer's body under the condition that Dr. Heywood stays alive. Mr. Constantine can only slay the demon if the latter is offed. "No, absolutely not. There is no Plan B, okay? Only Plan A. Got it?"
"Yeah, got it." The soothsayer consequently takes off. For someone whose design was denied, he isn't discouraged.
"Look, I meant what I said earlier," the captain tells Dr. Heywood. "I am not losing another Legend. So, forget what you heard because we're all-in on HeyWorld. Now, I believe in you, and, if I'm not mistaken, someone has a theme park to build." With that bout of confidence, the historian goes to Maryland with Miss Tomaz.
The grand opening for HeyWorld is reported all over the planet. The Legends have secretly escorted the magical creatures to the marquee. Miss Tomaz gears up the livestream for the big performance. I view the show beginning with Captain Lance and Dr. Heywood introducing Frederic the ogre, Baba Yaga, and the Minotaur. However, the audience boos at the wooden dialogue. The comments left in the livestream are also negative. Some contain demands for action and the real Trinity, others are calling the Legends "scammers", and the rest are malicious remarks aimed at the mystical creatures.
Suddenly, a full-grown dragon appears. Its thunderous roar causes ex-Agent Green to faint and renders Miss Darhk powerless. Tabitha emerges from the shadows; she is controlling the colossal beast the same way she did with Charlie. The witch overpowers the captain, the historian, and Mr. Constantine. The public is trapped inside the tent. Their collective fear is being harvested in Tabitha's staff. She orders the dragon to burn Captain Lance and the audience alive. Unexpectedly, a young girl fearlessly steps in between them and commands it to dance. It's Miss Tomaz's younger self! The adult Wickstable performs the same sneeze dance it did as a hatchling. Once out of Tabitha's control, it swallows her whole and physically regresses.
Mr. Constantine skillfully tricks Neron into breaking his promise to Dr. Palmer. Upon witnessing this, Miss Tomaz wants to go to the site. Despite me reiterating my precaution, she rushes to her boyfriend's side. I continue monitoring the show from the cameras. Mr. Rory suddenly starts singing James Taylor's "Sweet Baby James". Miss Tomaz willingly takes part. Tabitha's staff begins harnessing a different energy: love. Captain Lance tells the audience, "If you want Nate up and kicking, he needs to hear all of you." Everybody, human and nonhuman, sing their hearts out until Dr. Heywood is revived.
HeyWorld is a resounding success. Humans are not afraid of magical creatures. Neron and Tabitha are defeated, and our sunny astrophysicist is rescued. Another Legendary win for the records. I am waiting for Dr. Heywood to return, so I can play a recording Miss Tomaz made for him in advance. I watch as the historian and the other Legends enter through the airlock: Captain Lance, Director Sharpe, Mr. Constantine, Dr. Palmer, Miss Darhk, Miss Wu, Mr. Rory, Charlie, ex-Agent Green, and Mr. Behrad Tarazi.
A/N: End of Phase 2. Onto Phase 3, also known as Season 5.
