Col has never wanted to be a Rebel.
He was born on the planet Corellia, and it's not a nice place to grow up if you were in poverty. Col has been well off however. He was raised by them well.
The problem is that his parents volunteered him to the Rebels without his permission. They trained him in the use of a B-Wing, when he'd rather be flying a TIE Defender instead. Whenever the Rebels put up signs that told other passergoers to "Remember Alderaan", he's tear 'em down when they're not looking.
In short, the Rebels lost the right to be his allies because they didn't save Alderaan by flying in and taking the blow from the Death Star. That's their fault, not the Empire's fault.
Their inaction has led to the destruction of a important planet, just because they chose not to come out of hyperspace and take the blow meant for the planet. The very same planet that Havoc Squad, made up of Republic Troopers led by Jace Malcolm and aided by Satelle Shan, of the Old Republic against the Sith Empire in the Cold War, had been turned into ruins of asteroids.
And whenever he hears the Rebels say that people like him volunteered, he argued saying that he didn't volunteer and that you can't force someone to be a Rebel. They argued back, saying that "he" chose out of free will. No, he did not choose out of free will. He was signed up without his input. There's a difference between those two concepts.
What is wrong with these people? No wonder the Empire doesn't put up with different alien species. Because then they'd have fights like these breaking out.
So, that's it, he's had enough. One day, he went into the bunker and collected his things before heading out to the hangar, taking his B-Wing with him.
He disabled the tracking beacon, kept radio silent and blocked all transmissions.
He doesn't wanna be found and rescued. After Alderaan, he can't work with the Rebels, because they can't help themselves. And he's not gonna butt heads, argue, bitch, whine, or complain that it's their fault that planet was destroyed. Because it is their fault, and they allowed Tarkin to destroy it.
Thank the stars that Tarkin blew up with the Death Star over a year ago.
As he took off from the hangar, he looked at the important information he copied down with him from the main computers of the Rebel base. He left under the assumption that he was going to give this to valuable allies on another planet that the Empire doesn't know about.
Princess Leia, Admiral Ackbar, all those who died in the Battle of Yavin, they can all go and smoke a death stick instead. Who cares about them, anyway? Not him, no.
Where he was heading, he was going somewhere where he can enlist in the Imperial Academy. He's only sixteen years old, so he's got a long life ahead of him. Sure, he might get assigned to the Imperial Army, where they're kept away from the battlefields, but it's better than fighting alongside a bunch of orange-clad X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing and B-Wing flying morons.
When he finds a Imperial-held world, the first thing he's going to do is get something to drink. He sure needs it.
"If those orange-clad and white vest wearing morons think they can track me down, good thing I packed a lot of explosives on this thing"
What better way than to destroy his B-Wing to erase evidence from the main drives? He'll make sure they're irretrievable, he'll even do it through water damage if he has to.
"Now, let's go and get a drink at the cantina at Mos Eisley. Those Rebel morons wouldn't post a bounty on me, because you can't trust bounty hunters if you're a Rebel like them, they'd sell you out to the Empire"
Not that Col minded, the Empire is exactly where he wanted to go. And after he gets a drink, he's heading right to a Imperial base and he's golden.
"I'll probably never be a Stormtrooper but I don't care. I just want to be as far away from those white helmed idiots in orange as possible"
Really. How many times do we have to learn this lesson? No, means no. You can't change the meaning, you can't erase the meaning, you can't use 'double-standards' on the meaning, you can't reverse the meaning. You can only accept it, and if you have a problem accepting it, then be a man. Thank you.
You jerk.
