What Happens In Vegas
Chapter 10: All Bets are off!
0400hrs Hotel Room: Samantha looked at the black tank top that opened the proverbial door. Nothing happens by accident she thought. Folding it then placing the garment in her saddle bags she felt a familiar tap on the shoulder. "What's the problem now ladies? Jack and I got our act together finally." She said looking at the mini me's. Party Samantha now dressed in the ball room gown just looked away tapping her foot. "What's she mad about?" Samantha asked dress blue Samantha. "You tell me why I'm mad at me!" party Sam told her counterpart tail moving about wildly. "Fine, but I already explained it to you twice!" Goody two shoes Sam said showing two fingers to party Samantha. "Still doesn't' make sense to me miss goody two shoes." Party Samantha replied with a huff. "I'm right here you two. What is...party me mad about now?" Samantha asked at a loss. Dress Blue Sam sighed loudly. "The devil woman doesn't understand orders and time restraints." She explained looking over at her counterpart. "You want us meaning me to share the shower with Jack. There's no time because we found out he likes to take time exploring, touching and..." Samantha said stopping short. Memories flooded in tempting herself to do as her party version wanted. "Now you know why I'm mad!" Party Sam replied. Dress Blue Sam hummed trying not to think about how attentive 'Sir' really is. "I'll make you two a promise, when we get back and the briefing is over we can test his bed out. Does that sound good to you?" Samantha asked with a grin. Both nodded but disappeared as the restroom door opened.
"Who are you talking to Carter?" Jack asked coming out dressed for their ride to Nellis AFB. Sam didn't know what to say. She couldn't tell him the truth. "You look a little flustered." He said from across the room. Walking over she decided to make good on her promise to her mini me's. "Just talking out loud about how 'we' are going test your bed out tonight." Kissing his cheek she walked into the restroom with her road clothes smiling leaving the door open. Jack stood there frozen watching her as she got ready to shower. Closing the door he told her "The devilish side of you is scary Carter and I have no complaints at all." All three Sam's did a fist pump as the door closed.
0430hrs Nellis AFB: "There's a severe storm front moving from the southeast moving towards Colorado Springs men. Those of you headed that way move to flight plan C." Lt. Colonel Gregory (A/N1) ordered the pilots of the C-130 cargo planes. "Some of you are new to the squadron and don't remember the last storm. Go around or above even if it adds time to your flight. These planes aren't yours. The tax payers provide us these magnificent birds and their not cheap. Neither is the life of your crew!" he said looking at each pilot and co-pilot. "...is that understood?" A chorus of "Yes Sir!" rang out loud and clear. Satisfied Col. Gregory turned the meeting back over the operations officer.
Lt. Colonel Hayes scanned the men one by one. The weather wasn't Ideal but these were trained professionals that flew in all weather conditions. Still, Murphy's Law was always there. "Everyone have a safe flight and return back with your plane intact, no stowaways either Williams!" The pilots all laughed because last time a stray poodle found her way on to his bird. The previous base commander was none too pleased either. "Flash, please stay behind. I need to speak with you. The rest of you are dismissed." Lt. Colonel Hayes ordered motioning the man into his office. "I'll meet you at our bird Jones. Make sure Ken has a coffee waiting for me." Jones saluted and went on his way.
Closing the door behind him Flash aka Scott reported as ordered. "Have a seat Flash; I have a Classified Mission for you." the Lt. Colonel said getting Scotts attention. "I'm listening sir." He responded really curios given this rarely happen when on a standard supply run. "There will be two Air Force officers arriving around 0515hrs. They will be flying to Peterson along with their motorcycles. They must arrive there safely." Lt. Colonel Hayes informed him. "Do these officers require special treatment?" Scott asked wondering if the two officers were Colonel O'Neill and Major Carter. "The basic 'you never seen them and never where on your bird.' That goes for your whole crew." He answered in a serious tone. "Understood sir, I'll inform my crew of the orders. Anything else I need to know sir." Scott asked hoping it was them. "Other than I'll be escorting the officers to your bird, no." Hayes seeing that Scott understood his orders dismissed him.
Scott didn't tell the Lt. colonel anything about possibly meeting the officers. This mission, if nothing happened, would look good on his record.
0440hrs Parking Garage: "Can you believe the president paid for our room? That was unexpected Jack." Samantha said starting her Indian the noise causing car alarms to go off. "We did help him win a bet with the general, and he does like us. You know, saving the world and all does have its privileges." Jack answered starting his Harley making more car alarms go off as well. "The president didn't have to do it though. We'll have to send him a wedding invite." She stated smirking under the helmet and taking off. "...wedding invite...hey wait for me Carter!" Jack replied surprised. Roaring out onto the street he sped up to catch his future bride.
Jack caught up to her at the stop light laughing. "What took you so long thought I was going to be flying alone." She said poking fun at her boyfriend. "...just enjoying watching your six like always. Let's not get pulled over. We have a bed to test out tonight apparently." Jack told her flirting back. Samantha giggled enjoying their banter. They both left the light at a sedate pace even though there was hardly any traffic. Once on I-15 they bumped their speed up not seeing a problem. Only vehicles on the interstate were semi trucks and a few lonely cars. The two officers didn't notice the sheriff's squad car going west turn around in the median though. Sam led the way using Exit 58 for Nellis with Jack hot on her six. They pulled up to the guard shack coming to a stop pulling their helmets off for identification purposes.
The two air force Security force wondered why Lt. Colonel Hayes was at their post. The only clue he had given was guests were arriving. Colonel Hayes did things by the book and only the book. So the fact he was here to meet some guests meant they were important. The three men heard the motorcycles at first then spotted them coming towards the guard shack. "Men, these officers are not to be logged in the books. Nor did you see them either, understand." Lt. Colonel Hayes informed the two SF guards as he checked the time, 0510hrs. 'Early is on time, on time is late' he thought to himself. Both guards gave him a 'Yes sir!' watching as the two motorcycles came to a stop. The colonel waited patiently already disliking the two officers. How was he supposed to take them seriously not being in uniform? Both Jack and Samantha set their kick stands and removed their helmets. "Colonel O'Neill and Major Carter reporting Lt. Colonel Hayes as ordered." Jack said dismounting his Harley. Both Jack and Sam saluted Hayes not getting one back. Hayes gave each officer a once over confirming his dislike ignoring them. This didn't sit well with them. "Check their ideas Sergeant York; I want to make sure this isn't a joke." Hayes ordered glaring at the two bikers. "Sir, I assure this is not a joke. We have an important Air Force mission to complete." Samantha said not liking the man's tone. "I honestly don't see what important Air force mission your on. Looks more like you the two are looking for a free ride back to Colorado Springs using my bird." The Lt. Colonel answered back with distaste. Jack stood there ready to correct the high horse colonel. He didn't like officers like him, by the book or not at all types. "Lt. Colonel Hayes, they check out sir." Sergeant York informed his C.O. getting a nod. Jack took the identification cards back handing Sam's back then turned his attention to the pompous arse.
"Lt. Colonel Hayes, we may NOT be in uniform but your men just confirmed our ranks. You will return the salute to Major Carter and me, that's an order!" Jack ordered leaving not room for argument. Realizing his mistake he returned the salutes but couldn't resist responding. "With all due respect SIR, you don't look like regular officers. How do I know you're not pulling rank to get a hop with your...subordinate?" Hayes said pausing for effect. He knew when something was off between the two standing before him.
Jack walked up to the pompous arse, inches from his face. "That's above your pay grade, way above. Unless you want your pay grade to be the level of a major I highly suggest you get in the staff vehicle and take us our ride. If you think I don't have that power feel free to try me!" Hayes backed up a bit surprised at the colonel's bluntness. Figuring it was best to get the two officers on their way he promptly agreed. "Captain Owens lets escort Colonel O'Neill and Major Carter to their hop." Both SFs didn't say a word. They were too impressed with the full bird colonels handling of Hayes promptly putting him in his place. Samantha was also impressed, he didn't go all full bird often. If Jack ever becomes a general he'd be scary to deal with if ticked off.
With Lt. Colonels Hayes leading the way Jack and Samantha followed closely. Their tail lights had disappeared in the darkness as a Clark County (A/N2) sheriff's patrol car pulled up with their red and blues lighting up the area. The two SFs turned their attention to the sheriff wondering why the cops where there.
"May we help you Sheriff Best?" asked SF Sergeant Coltrane as SF York put 2 & 2 together. "You sure can son; I'm in hot pursuit of two bikers that entered the base. Let me through so I can arrest them and take them to jail on several charges not limited to speeding." SF York looked at SF Coltrane knowing what to do. "Well aren't you going to let me continue my pursuit or not?" asked Best standing in front of the Crown Victoria. "Sheriff, no one has come through here since 0330hrs. We'd surely remember if two motorcycles came through." SF York replied with a straight face. "Besides sheriff, this is federal property. We can't let you enter without permission from the base commander." SF Coltrane added. "Now you hold on a minute. I clocked those two motorcycles speeding on the interstate going 85 in a 70. They entered the base, I know it." Best said getting ticked of at being stone walled. "I can see their tail lights." He added pointing in the general direction. "You must be mistaken. Maybe they simply disappeared into the night." SF York replied not saying aliens like he wanted too. "Sheriff Best, no one entered the base and we won't allow you on either. Please leave before you end up in the Nellis Brig." SF Coltrane warned following his orders. "This is bull crap, just like always the Air Force protecting their own. Those two have to come out sometime and I'll be waiting." Sheriff Best said getting in his squad car leaving in a huff. "He'll be waiting for a long time then." SF York said laughing along with Coltrane. They both watched the sheriff park across the road in a dirt lot laughing even harder.
