This is a world that any child would dream of living in, a world where 80% of the population is born with superpowers, or as they call them here, Quirks. Because of this, being a hero became a job that many aspired to achieve, but there were also villains who used their powers for their own purposes, so hero academies were created for new generations to become the world's heroes.
It was a quiet day at Japan's best-known hero academy, U.A. Classes had recently ended and students began to enjoy the rest of the day. Walking to the dormitory building of Class 1-A, were three of the students from that class: Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco Uraraka and Tenya Iida, they had just finished up training at the Training Dream Land and were going to the Locker Rooms to change out of their costumes.
"So, what should we do now? Class is over and the teachers are giving us a two-day weekend." asked Izuku.
"Mmm. Maybe we could go to the mall. I hear there's a 2-for-1 sale at the ice cream shop or we could go to the convenience store." said Uraraka.
"Ice cream is fine, but we mustn't forget to take care of our health. When it comes to being a hero, image is important." said Tenya waving his arms like a robot, which made the other two laugh.
While walking, they met up with Eri, who was visiting Izuku and the other students for the weekend, she was very excited when she saw him. "Izu!" Eri shouted happily as she ran up to him, before hugging him. Izuku reciprocated the feeling of affection.
"Hi Eri" Izuku said, "Did you miss me? How are you doing?" he asked politely. "I'm doing great! Miss Inko said that there was going to be a two-day weekend, so she dropped me off here so that I can be with you!" she exclaimed excitely. "That's great! We were just on our way back to the dorms after changing, do you want to come?" Izuku asked with Eri nodding happily
They were about to enter the building, but before they took another step...
"Wait!" a familiar female voice made them stop. The three of them turned around to see Mei Hatsume, a student from the support course, approaching them. "Thank goodness I found you."
"What is it Hatsume?" asked Izuku.
"I just finished a new baby, and I'd like to show it to you, you're going to love it as it will blow your minds." said Mei with excitement.
"Why us? Why didn't you ask Power Loader or even one of your classmates?" asked Uraraka.
"Unfortunately, Power Loader is busy with the other teachers, but when I went to see my classmates I saw you and decided to ask you. So... can you please come with me?" asked Mei.
The three looked at each other, thinking about their partner's request. In the end they made a joint decision.
"Of course. No problem." said Izuku.
"You helped us a lot during the Sports Festival and making our costumes, so we owe you a lot." said Uraraka.
"Also, as U.A. students, we have to help our classmates no matter what course they are in." said Tenya.
Izuku then looked down at Eri, "Eri, do you want to see some inventions?" he asked with Eri saying "Mmhmm!"
"Great! Follow me!" said Mei very excited for them to see their new baby.
After a while, the five of them arrived at Mei's laboratory, which was somewhat disorganized with several devices scattered around the place, but the most notable was a large object that was covered by a blanket.
"So, what did you want to show us?" asked Izuku.
Mei cleared her throat a bit to prepare her presentation.
"Have you ever heard of the theory of the multiverse?
"Yes, it's the theory that for every action we take, a world is created and we take a different one. Like one where you don't eat breakfast or where you decide to take the bus instead of the train." said Tenya.
"That's right, and because of that theory I've created this." said Mei, removing the blanket, revealing a massive object with a mirror being held by a ring. "I introduced
you to the visualizer of worlds."
"Unbelievable! What does it do?" asked Uraraka.
"It works almost like a TV. Only instead of watching the news or TV shows, this baby allows us to see other worlds." said Mei, excited about the explanation.
"That's an amazing invention, Hatsume!" exclaimed Izuku, with Eri looking at it in awe.
"Thank you." said Mei.
"Does it work?" asked Tenya.
"I don't know." said Mei to the surprise of the trio. "But let's try it out right now."
The trio turned a little pale, with Eri look confused at their expressions, as they remembered what happened to most of the inventions (babies) of Mei when they were activated and weren't sure if this time would be any different.
Before any of them could stop her, Mei started pushing some buttons.
"It's okay. I'll enter some random coordinates and..." when Mei finished pressing buttons, she pulled a lever nearby.
At first, everything seemed normal. The machine's lights came on like a Christmas tree and the mirror began to show a kind of vortex. Suddenly, sparks began to appear in some parts of the machine and the screen where the entered coordinates were displayed began to show crazy numbers, which worried the five people present. Soon after, the mirror broke and the vortex it showed became real and started to absorb everything like a vacuum cleaner.
"Everybody, hold on to something!" exclaimed Tenya.
Tenya held on to a desk while he grabbed Uraraka with his other hand. Mei held on to the machine. While Izuku, he ended up holding on to a large machine, thinking that its weight would support the absorption force. However, he was wrong, as the suction force increased so much that the machine he was holding onto began to move into the vortex, taking Izuku with it, with Eri about to be sucked in before Izuku grabbed her.
"Deku!" cried Uraraka as she saw her friend's situation.
"Izu!" Eri screamed as she was scared for her life. "Eri, don't let go!" Izuku screamed as he tried to get away from the vortex
"Hatsume, turn it off!" shouted Tenya in desperation.
Mei moved to the button area of the machine while holding on tight to avoid being sucked in.
Izuku did his best to hold on to the machine and keep holding Eri, but the movement of the machine, along with the suction force, caused him to gradually lose his grip.
Suddenly, an object that was being sucked up hit him, causing him to lose his grip completely and go straight into the vortex while screaming, with Eri also being sucked in as well.
"Deku! Eri!/Midoriya! Eri!" his two friends shouted.
Mei had finally gotten to where the buttons were, where there was a fairly large red button. She raised one hand while holding on tightly with the other. Izuku and Eri were getting closer to the vortex and Mei's hand was getting closer to pressing a button. In the end, Mei pressed the button, causing the vortex to close and everything in the air to fall to the ground, including her and the others.
"Is everyone all right?" Mei asked, rising from the floor.
"Yes, we're fine." said Uraraka as she and Tenya got up. "Wait, where is Deku and Eri?
At that question, everyone looked around to discover that the green-haired boy and small white haired horn girl was nowhere to be found.
"No. It can't be." said Mei, horrified at the thought.
"What? What do you mean?" asked Tenya.
"I think Midoriya and the little girl have been absorbed into the vortex." said Mei.
Both the gravity girl and the motor boy gasped at the information. Although of the two, Uraraka seemed to be the most affected, as he approached Mei quickly and grabbed her by the shoulders.
"What happened to them? Where are they?" Uraraka asked.
"I-I don't know." began Mei, separating the girl's grip from gravity. "My baby was supposed to be a mirror to another world, but for some reason she must have become a portal." explained Mei.
"What does that mean?" asked Tenya.
"It means that Midoriya and Eri could be in any world." said Mei.
"You created this. Can you make it bring them back?" asked Uraraka.
"I could, but the baby has been badly damaged and it would take a while to fix it. Besides, I would have to modify it so that Midoriya and Eri can return to our world. Not to mention that we don't know what world he might be in." said Mei.
Uraraka was about to scream or even cry, but a hand was placed on her shoulder. She looked to the side to see Tenya giving her a confident smile.
"Don't worry, Uraraka. Midoriya is tougher than it looks, he'll be fine no matter what world he's in, plus he can keep Eri safe, you saw how tough he was back in the USJ." said Tenya.
Uraraka couldn't shake her concern for her friend and the small girl, but smiled at the motor boy.
Looking ahead, both saw Mei entering a machine compartment to begin repairs. "Don't worry. If the coordinates of the other world are still saved, it's only a matter of time before we can find them" Mei said.
"I'll alert the teachers. If we don't know how long it will be before then, we have to make sure we don't panic." said Tenya as he left to do just that.
As he went to warn the others and Mei was busy repairing the machine, all Uraraka could do was go to her room. What had begun as a friendly get-together became a rescue mission.
As she walked towards the lockers, Uraraka stopped for a moment to look at the sky, not hiding the concern on her face as she thought of a certain person in a way she didn't realize.
"Deku, Eri, please be safe." Uraraka thought with one hand on her chest, close to where her heart is.
