Chapter 30: Doomsday Duel
It has been several of day since we have been at the pharaoh's tomb and since then I have many late night's getting Yasmine everything she to pass as a normal human the first thing it did was hack into my dad mainframe to network work to my computer so that I can hack more easier into the government data base and creating fake id, birth certificate, and social security. I have decided to give her the last name of Ishtar so it would seem so weird making it look like she is related to my mom in some way and add her to my dad's employee list and have her pay check deposited into my bank account and her position as my personal body guard. She also has to get a second job at the school so it does look weird for her to be around so we convinced the chancellor in to hiring her as and assistant nurse in the infirmary to help Ms. Fontaine since she is also the gym teacher and can't be there all the time. How ever else where someone is have her own struggles,
Meanwhile Seika Kohinata has been having nightmare's ever night since we returned and every night it is the same one it me losing against the Dark Sage and then being eaten alive by flesh eating scarabs the shoved in a sarcophagus be they turn to attack her and she wakes up screaming and in a cold sweat and due to that she can't seem to stay awake in class after I ask her "Seika why are you so sleep?" she blush for a moment and her eye wonder around the room before she answers with "I haven't been able to sleep lately" I look at her for and grab her and walk her to her next class and say "If you like and think you might sleep better you can come sleep in my room while." I turn very red thinking about some naughty thing we might do and shout "I would never want that you baka" and runs off blushing secretly wanting that more then anything.
It is late and night as I search through the card data base looking for a card that will make my crush card combo easier. After searching and finding nothing I send an email to my god father Pegasus saying

After I send the email there is a knock at my door Yasmine stands at the ready in case it is and enemy I open the door and there sanding there in a sheer white night gown is Seika Kohinata and I ask "Can I help you Seika?" He look at him for a moment and say "Nightshroud so be it" then Nightshroud eyes glow red and says "I will not fail Academy Island's prize will be ours." and he put on a duel disk and inserts his deck.
Back at the school in the chancellor's office Chancellor Sheppard is look out at the storm raging out side, and then notices something gliding across the sky unaffected by the weather and as he continues to look up at the he say "And so it begins the fight, The war".
Nightshroud land on the side of the volcano and after he discards the glider it folds up and start to burn and Nightshroud start to look down at Duel Academy and the half necklace starts to glow he takes in his looks at and smiles.
It wake up the next morning and Yasmine is already awake sitting at my desk in nothing but a pair of black lace panties and eating her own breakfast. I carefully untangle myself from Seika to let her as much sleep as she can get and go to take a shower when I return Seika is already gone and Yasmine has her cloak on and I start to get dress and go down to the eating area as Yasmine fallows closely behind me and after eating I then go to the school.
Me and Yasmine split as we get to the door to my class and Yasmine goes to the clinic. I go in and get ready for Professor Banner's class. Jaden looks at him with a fried shrimp handing and gulps, Chumley leans over and says "Jaden I watch your lunch for you especially if you have a side of grilled cheese in there." Jaden looks at and says "You wish" without even swallowing the shrimp in his mouth. Syrus get close and ask "Chancellor Sheppard oh Jaden what did you do" he take a moment to think as his mask falls over his face again. The shrimp falls out of his mouth and says "Maybe its good like an award." There is a laugh coming from the back of the classroom and Chazz stands up and say "No way it is never good news with Sheppard you are so busted" and put at Jaden. Professor Banner interrupts him by saying "Actually Chazz he wants to see you too". Chazz looks at him bewildered and yells "What!" Banner ignores the out burst and says" And four others" he looks around the room for a moment and the says "You Baston, Alexis, Seth, and Takeru we all stand up. Jaden raises the mask away from his and has a worried look on his and says "This doesn't sound good" and we start to head for the fallowed by Professor Banner.
As we walk down the hallway Jaden says "We aren't going to make a run for it Professor Banner you don't need to escort us to Chancellor Sheppard office" I smiles and says "Yes I do you he believes I should know whats going on and as we approach the door to Chancellor Sheppard's office Dr. Crowler and Zane are coming from the opposite direction. Dr. Crowler looks at and says "Well well look at this group of students some of the best duelist in the school I see. Uh oh which one of these is not like the other clearly someone is a little bit lost." while looking directly at Jaden. Jaden looks over at Chazz and says "He is not Chazz was invited" Chazz gets an irritated look on his face and says "He means you" I get in between them and say "Look this isn't the time to argue lets go what Sheppard wants us for" Chazz lets out a sigh and we go into his office.
We are all standing in front of Chancellor Sheppard's desk and he say "Most of you are here because we need to protect the 3 sacred beast card." Jaden looks at with a puzzled look and asks "The 3 sacred what cards?" Sheppard turn around to look at and says "Beasts and due to their immense power and their colossal might they were hidden here." Everyone but Jaden stands at attention while Jaden has a thinking pose and asks "Sweet like under somebody mattress or in a cookie jar?" Chazz look over at and says "Let him finish" Chancellor Sheppard takes a breath and says "They are not in cookie jar they are actually much closer then you think right below you." Everyone are surprised by how close they really are. Sheppard gives them a second to process the information and start to say "You see this Academy was built in part to protect the sacred beast cards they were buried deep under ground their power sealed safely away after all legend says if these cards every see the light of day terrible things will happen building will crumble light will fade souls will fall our world would be no more." Alexis get a scared look on her face and gulps. I notice and grab her to let her know that I am there for her. Baston looking off into but not really at anything as he say "No more" Chazz expression doesn't change at all. Jaden is excited and say "So where are these card I say we talk them out for a spin". Dr. Crowler just very angry with and starts to yell "Haven't you been listening". Sheppard steps forward and says "This is why the 8 of you are here to protect these 3 cards from the wicked ones." Zane looks and asks in a puzzled tone "The wicked ones?" Sheppard gets a serious look on his face and says "That's right 8 duelist know as the shadow rides who covet these cards and I am afraid one of them is already here. He arrive in the thick of last night's storm." Baston step forward and says "Naturally". That is all he is able as Alexis asks "So how do we protect these cards?" Chancellor opens his and starts digging for something as he says "By protect the 8 spirit gates to get to the cards 1 must unlock them and to unlock them 1 must gain the 8 keys for each gate that is how we will protect those cards bu protecting the keys." He lays a black box on his desk and says "Here they are 1 for each of you guard except for you Banner." Everyone but me lets out a gasp as I have some idea how this might work because my uncle tried to do the same thing with the god cards. Baston looks at the box and asks "What so we hold the keys won't that make us targets?" Sheppard knew that this was coming and say as calmly as he can "It's true with these key the shadow riders will seek you out." Chazz gathers up his and says "Uh seek us out? I think you mean take us out." Sheppard get a stern look on his face and says "Only in a duel ". Everyone looks at his with a surprised look but as I step forward and say "So this is a lot like what happen during battle city when Marik had to defeat Yugi in a duel to clam his puzzle." He looks me a bit surprised how I know about that and says "That right fortunately the keys can't simply be stolen an ancient rule demand that the keys be won in a duel and so I call on your schools 8 to take up this challenge and fight the good fight well 7 best really but I need 8 so you now" he start getting nervous. Dr. Crowler moves closer to Jaden and says "He certainly doesn't mean me" Jaden just ignores him and shuts his eyes. Sheppard looks around the room quickly and says "Of course if any of think up are not up to it and feel like backing out I won't blame you after all these shadow riders play for keeps so who feels like saving the world?"
He opens the box revealing 8 gold keys and we spend a moment looking at each other. We go to the case one by Jaden goes first and grabs 1 ans says "Count me in" and puts it around and in a surprised tone says "Hey would you look at that its my size" Zane smirks and grabs 1 next and says "I too accept." Boston give a nod and grabs 1 and says "It would be my honor", Alexis goes and say " I don't want you boys to have all of the fun". Then Chazz simple grabs staying silent. I then grad 1 and say "Just as my mom was trusted to protect the god card I will protect this spirit key." Takeru grabs his next and says "I going to put a magic show and make these shadow riders disappear." Crowler loos down at the last key as says "How could I refuse I mean our very world is at steak our way of life the future of the school, and if I said no I would get the very posh piece of jewelry" and grab his. As he grabs his Sheppard looks at his and says "Yes well it is good to know you are doing it for the right reasons kind of." Jaden is ready and say "well lets get started I think the best duelist should go first so that would mean well me." And he points to him self. Crowler steps up to Jaden with a sour look on his face and says "You you couldn't beat a drum. Obviously I should go first if not I say Zane. After all he did beat Jaden yes that's right I know all about that little match you had with Zane I little because I heard you lost to him in no time at all how pathetic." That leave Jaden speech less for once. Chazz looks over and says "Forget them both I'm clearly the best choice". Sheppard speaks up and says "There's no choice this isn't some tournament where we choose who goes first this is war you can be attacked by your enemy at any time or place so my students be on your guard."
I walk Alexis back to the front gate of the girls dorm and give her a kiss before departing unknowing that we are being watch from afar. I get to my dorm and stop in at the mail to see if I have any and I am surprise that I have a letter from my god father I take to and open the envelope and start to read the letter.

I reach into the envelop and pull out I read it silently in and smile and go over to my deck and go through my deck adding a few cards that I have thought of and finally think it is perfect with the card available. I start to feel a little hungry I go down to the and have an early dinner and go back to my and something just occurs to that the shadow riders will go after who think is the weakest and with that red blazer on Jaden is the prime target and I start run towards the Slifer red dorm.
I run into Alexis on my way I smile at her and say "Looks like we had the same idea that the shadow riders will to take down weakest 1 first." As we get closer to the dorm a bright light start to shine through Jaden's dorm door window. We look at each with and run as fast we can to his room and rush in. When we enter the room we run into some kind of weird and as the light get bright Alexis asks "Jaden whats happening) until the light engulfs us all. And out of no says "The first duel is happening.
When the light dies we are now on a platform of light over the middle of a volcano. Surprised Alexis asks "Where are we?" I look and say "I don't think you really want to know". Jaden crawls to the edge of the platform and says "In one really weird dream." A geyser of fire shoots up and takes a form of a dragon and then crashing down on the platform out of the flaming walks a man dress in all black. He start to laugh as he walks out of the flames and Jaden asks "What going on?" He stares Jaden and asks "You mean you don't know?" Jaden stands up says "Let's say I'm a slow learner." He take a moment to answer and says "Then call me Nightshroud." Jaden gives him a puzzled look and asks "Nightshroud?" All Nightshroud does is nod and say "I will be one taking that key that you have around your neck." Jaden straightens up and asks "Wow you don't waste my time do you?" with pillar of fire flying around the platform. The necklace around Nightshroud neck starts to glow and he grabs it, and the one Jaden has start to glow too Nightshroud sees that and says "Nice medallion the Grave keeper Chief must be getting sloppy, but if you think you will be able to beat me as easy as you beat him you have another thing coming. He gives Jaden a smirk and says "I will get that key and I will get it now oh and just to make sure of that I brought some friends." Jaden get a surprised look on his and asks "What does that mean?" After he asks that a pillars of fire flies over them. I pillar of fire flys around behind him and says "Say hello to Chumley and Syrus" and points at an orb to the side on a small platform. Syrus yells "Jaden" and Chumley yells "Helps us" as Jaden looks over at them. He steps closer to and says "No" while Alexis steps next to him and says"Hold on". Nightshroud smirks and says "Looks like their in hot water or maybe I should say hot molting lava but such is the nature of a shadow game key keeper. I shoot him a glare and Jaden steps forward says "A shadow game listen just duel me, but let them go." Nightshroud gives him a wicked smiles and says "I don't think so I need them to ensure a speedy match after all that protection orb they lets just say its not built to last oh I afraid there more too". He hold a blank card and says "For you see also at sake is your soul which will be seal in this card when you lose, of course if I lose my soul will be sealed, but hey lets be honest with our self's me lose no ways now shall we?" I grab Jaden and say "Jaden this shadow game is the real thing my uncle and godfather use to duel in shadow games so if you want to duel him instead I will." He look at me and say "He challenged me so I will duel him and this isn't exactly my first shadow game I just hope this one does hurt as much as the other ones(he flashes back to his duel against Jinzo over winter break and how Malice Doll's axe hit him for real and his leg start to disappear and the it switch to his duel against the Gravekeeper's Chief when was attack by Gravekeeper's Curse) ". I squeeze his shoulder and say "Okay good luck and just be careful" and I step back next to Alexis. He stares intently at Nightshroud and says "Okay pal is you want to duel you got it" Syrus looks up at the as her Jaden say that say "Good luck Jaden" and Chumley adds "Let us know if there is anything we can do to help". Jaden look over them and say "Yeah um thanks Chum, but I think all the help I need right here in my deck" and and pillar flies pass them, Jaden puts him deck in his duel and says "Get your game on" and the duel begins.
Nightshroud goes first and he draw his cards and he plays 1 monster face-down and another card face down and ends his turn
Jaden draws his first card and summons Elemental Hero Wildheart (Atk1500/Def 1600) in attack mode and has him attack Nightshroud's face down monster and destroys and since it was a Troop Dragon Night Shroud get special another Troop Dragon (Atk700/Def 800) this one defense mode as well and Jaden ends his turn
Nightshroud draws then activates his face down Call of the Haunted and bring back his first Troop Dragon but this time in attack mode and then offers them both to summon Red-eyes Black Dragon (ATK2400/Def 2000) in attack mode and then he attack Elemental Hero Wildheart destroying him and causing 900 point worth of damage lowering Jaden to 3100 LP and ends his turn
Jaden draws and plays the spell card Polymerization and fuses together Elemental Hero Clayman and Elemental Hero Burstinatrix to form Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster (ATK2000/Def 2500) in defense mode and use her effect to hit Nightshroud for 1000 point lowering him down to 3000 LP and Jaden ends his turn
Nightshroud draws his next card and smirks as he and says "You fool that monster doesn't change a thing but you bet this next card will it going to change your life points Jaden oh and not in a good way you see your Blaster can't protect you from my Red-eye Black Dragon's attack." Jaden look at for and says "Okay I'll bite why not?" Then Night shroud shows him card while saying "Because this time his attack is an actual card" He plays Inferno Fire Blast causing Jaden 2400 points of damage lowering him to 700 "Nice card right it just as strong as my Red-eye Black Dragon's attack the only difference is it hit your life points directly." He then summon Attachment Dragon (ATK100/Def 100) in attack mode and uses his effect and attaches him to Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster forcing it into attack mode. Then ends his turn
Jaden draws and plays the spell card Pot Greed allowing him to draw to cards. Then play another spell card called De-Fusion splitting apart his Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster back into Elemental Hero Clayman and Elemental Hero Burstinatrix to destroys Attachment Dragon then he plays Fusion Sage allowing him to add Polymerization from his deck to his hand. He then activates it and fuses together Elemental Hero Clayman and Elemental Hero Sparkman to form Elemental Hero Thunder Giant (ATK2400/Def 1500) in attack mode and then attack Red-eye Black Dragon which causes both monster to be destroyed and then attacks him directly with Elemental Hero Burstinatrix lowering him down to 1800 and plays Mirage of Nightmare and also sets a face down and ends his turn.
Nightshroud draws his next card allow Jaden to also draw 4 cards then Jaden activates Emergency Provisions and gets rid of Mirage of Nightmare to gain 1000 life point putting him at 1700. Then Night Shroud summons Mirage Dragon (ATK1600/Def 600) in attack mode and attacks Burstinatrix destroying he and lowering Jaden's life point to 1300 and ends his turn.
Jaden draws and then summons Elemental Hero Bubbleman (Atk800/Def 1200) allowing him to draw 2 cards since he is the only card on his field. He then plays Silent Doom and brings back Elemental Hero Sparkman but in defense mode this time then activates Fusion Gate allowing him to fuse together Elemental Hero Sparkman, Elemental Hero Bubbleman and Elemental Hero Avian to form Elemental Hero Tempest (ATK2800/Def 2800) in attack mode. Then has him attack Mirage Dragon destroying it and lowers Night Shroud life points to 600 and plays 1 card face down and ends his turn.
Nightshroud draws his next card and say"You chump life point decide who wins the duel its the cards you hold and if you don't believe me I am quiet certain this next card this one will prove it to you"
Jaden looks at with a little and say "Yeah right I bet you are just bluffing or not"
Before Nightshroud make he takes a good long look at and say "Did you honest think key keeper you could get rid of all of my dragons so easily that you could just banish them to the graveyard and be done with them?"
Jaden look at him for and say that's kind of what I was hoping for/"
"Well you can keep on hoping" Nightshroud says and summons Red eyes Black Chick (Atk800/Def 500) in attack and uses it effect by offering to summon another Red Eyes Black Dragon. He then get an evil grin on his an offers Red Eyes Black Dragon to summon Red Eyes Darkness Dragon (Atk2400'/Def 2000) ,but it then gain 300 points for each dragon in Night Shroud's graveyard and with 7 dragons in his that gives his Red Eyes Darkness Dragon 2100 more attack putting at 4500 he then attacks Elemental Hero Tempest, but Jaden activates his face down Negate Attack block the attack and ending his battle phase. He then ends his turn.
Jaden draws and plays a card face down in defense mode, and switches his Elemental Hero Tempest to defense mode. Then ends his turn
Nightshroud draws and then summons Spear Dragon (Atk1900/Def 0) and uses it to attack Jaden's face down monster and destroys it and it was Wroughtweiler allowing him to get an elemental hero and polymerization from his graveyard and add it to his hand. However Spear Dragon has piercing damage and inflicting 700 points on damage putting down to 600 LP. But then Spear Dragon must switch to attack mode. Then Night Shroud plays Mystical Space Typhoon and destroys the field spell Fusion Gate. Then attacks with Red Eyes Darkness Dragon and destroys Elemental Hero Tempest and then ends his turn.
Jadendraws and summons Elemental Hero Wild Heart (Atk1500/Def 1600) . Then plays the spell card Wild Half splitting his Red Eyes Darkness Dragon into 2 monsters with 2250 attack, and then plays polymerization to fuse together Elemental Hero Wild Heart and Elemental Hero Blade Edge in his to form Elemental Hero Wild Edge (Atk2600/Def 2300) and uses his effect to attack all of his monster and wins the duel.
As Nightshroud's life point and fall to his knees scream as a tower of fire engulfs him. Then Jaden drops to his his knees out of exhaustion and looks over at the orb and say "Sy, Chumley" and passes out me and Alexis run over saying "Jaden" wondering if he is okay as we reach we are surrounded by a ring of fire and are engulfed by a bright light.
We are all transported to the base of the volcano. I am the first to awaken and I look over see Sy and Chumley and look next to and see Alexis start to stir and help her sit up as she awakens. She look surprised for a moment and say "He did it Jaden did it" I stand up and help Alexis do the the say as Syrus and Chumley come over and then she asks "But where is Jaden?" We all look around for a moment Chumley spots him as says "Look" and points and we see Jaden on the ground laying there and we rush over to check on him. We kneel down next to him and Syrus grabs him and Alexis says "Wake up" Syrus continue to and says "He's not moving." I grab his hand check his pulse while Syrus shakes him and says "Come on Jay" I put his and say "Don't worry he is fine he has a steady pulse he is probably just tired but who blame him after a shadow game." Chunley continues to look at and say "Not me I'm tired and I didn't do a thing" Syrus leans closer to him and close and whines loudly and saying "Jay don't do this why why." Alexis look as and say "Syrus Seth said he is okay and he knows more about these shadows then us." show look and see's Nightshroud and says "That more then I can say for Nightshroud she them picks up a face down card and look as it and it is the soul card and on are chains and the mask Nightshroud wore and she say "At least we will be safe from him now." She looks up from the looks at Nightshroud and moves over to him
She stands right at his feet and kneels down to get a closer look at him he turns his head and open an eye and says "Alexis" and then passes back out as she gasps and she and says "It can't be."
Then Zane, Chazz, Bastion and Takeru come running over and Takeru says" Hold Jaden we are coming" and they kneel down next to Jaden with us. Then Chazz asks "What happen?" Syrus looks towards him and says "One of the shadow rider challenged Jaden to a duel." Chazz leans in with and ask "So what happened did he win." Chunley looks back and says "He sure did Chazz and it was a lischus battle there was lava, dragons, some talk of french fries." Zane looks over to where Alexis and Nightshroud are and asks "Is that him the shadow rider." I also back and Alexis next and get you with to make sure she is okay/
As we get closes we can tell Alexis is hugging him and crying and Zane says "Alexis" mostly to just get her attention. She looks back at and says "Its him Zane its him I don't understand how but its him Zane just a shock look on his face and Alexis finally looks up at us and continues to talk "I thought I lost him but hes back he is finally back." Zane look as he seriously and asks "What are you talking about who's back?" Alexis starts to cry again says "Look at his face its my brother." Both me and Zane look shocked as we get a better look at him. I kneel and hold Alexis and says "I told you we would find him one day" as Zane look on with shock and says "Atticus" the rest of them come over with Chunley carrying Jaden Alex cuddles into my embrace and looks at everyone and says "It wasn't him before but that card took away what every kind of darkness was holding him hes back now" as everyone just look at her. Zane get and serious look on his face and says "And if this is how it is when you win a duel just think about how it is when you lose the sun may be coming up now, but night will fall again soon and when it does we must be ready" As we look out to the rising sun as me and Alexis continue to embrace each other.
