Totally Spies: Return Of Geraldine (Rewrite)
Chapter 2
AN: Here's where a lot more changes start coming in.
After Clover, Sam and Alex were WOOHPed out of Jerry's office, the three girls went into the city.
"Geez, could Jerry's WOOHPings be any more abrupt?!" Clover complained. "I need Operation Self-love now more than ever!"
"It's ok, Clover," Sam said, putting a hand on her friend's shoulder. "Operation Self-love is about to get started."
"You said it, Sammy," Alex added with a smile.
"Thanks, girls," Clover said in appreciation. "I, for one, can't wait to check out more shoes than feet for the latest in spring wedgies."
But as soon as Clover, Sam and Alex made it to their destination, they gasped in shock. They saw that the shoe boutique they were supposed to be going to was replaced with a thrift store.
"My favorite shoe boutique has been replaced by a tacky thrift shop?" Clover said in disbelief.
"Wow, tacky is right," Sam commented.
"Yeah, what's that about?" Alex added. "Weren't you just here yesterday, Clover?"
Clover nodded, "Yeah!"
"How could the shoe boutique have been replaced that fast?" Sam wondered aloud.
"I have no idea," Clover said. "But you know what, with all the stressing, I could totally use some brain food."
"Count me in," Alex agreed immediately.
With that said, the girls started making their way over to the Veg-out, only to discover that it too has been replaced.
"What?! The Veg-out is now a steak-house?!" Clover said in disbelief.
It seemed that the Veg-out had indeed been replaced by a steakhouse called T-bones.
"Certainly looks like it," Sam speculated.
"But I can't live without my egg-plant rollies!" Clover complained.
"Yeah, I am so not a fan of steak!" Alex complained.
Ok, this is getting weird," Sam spoke. "First the shoe boutique has been replaced, now the Veg-out? How is this even possible?"
"I don't know," Clover responded. "But with all this weirdness, I really could use a massage right now."
"You said it, Clover," Alex agreed.
As the three spy girls started walking to the spa, Sam started wondering if something weird was going on.
But as soon as they arrived at the spa, they came upon a startling sight. There was a huge line piling up in front of the spa.
"Oh no!" Clover gasped. "My members only spa is now open to the public?!"
"Ok, this is getting freaky!" Alex commented. "First, we find out that the shoe boutique has been replaced with a thrift store, then we see that the Veg-out has been replaced by a steak-house and now the members-only spa has been made into a public spa?!"
"I know! What's going on today?!" Clover complained. "Three of my favorite places get replaced by my least favorite places in one day?!"
"Hmm, I'm starting to get the feeling that something weird is going on," Sam said aloud.
"You got it that right, Sammy," Alex agreed.
"What are we gonna do now?! Operation Self-love can't be done without all my favorite places!" Clover cried.
"Hey, relax, Clover," Sam said assuringly, putting a hand on Clover's shoulder. "We'll figure something out later."
"Yeah, for now, let's just get back to the penthouse and relax," Alex added as she also put a hand on Clover's shoulder.
"Yeah, I need to finish my essay anyway," Sam spoke.
Clover sighed, "Yeah, you're right," Clover smiled at her two best friends, "You know, at least there's one thing I can count on. You girls will never change."
"Of course, Clover. We'll always be there for you no matter what," Alex said with a reassuring smile.
As they were leaving, the girls were unaware that they were being watched from inside a car behind them. Inside the car, was Geraldine Husk, a frequent adversary from the girls' past.
As Geraldine watched the girls walking off, she frowned in frustration.
"Drat!" she said quietly. "I wasn't expecting Sam and Alex to accompany Clover at the last second. Now my planted evidence won't be able to work on them. At least, there's still my plan to trick Jerry."
Clover, Sam and Alex were walking back to Mali-U. And all the while, Sam seemed to be deep in thought.
"Hey, Sammy, is everything alright?" Alex asked her red-headed friend.
"It's just, this whole thing is kind of bothering me," Sam answered. "I can't help but wonder if Blaine's mystery employer is behind Clover's favorite places suddenly going out of business."
Clover gasped, "Oh no, Jerr was right! This mystery employer really is watching our every move!"
"But why would Blaine's mystery employer want to replace a boutique, a veggie joint and a private spa with a thrift store, a steakhouse and a public spa?" Alex wondered aloud.
"Clearly he or she gave up on killing me and decided to just majorly spite me!" Clover complained.
"Well, in any case…" Sam spoke up. "I think we should call Jerry and ask him to…"
Sam's voice trailed off when her eyes fell upon another startling site.
"Huh?! Hey, Alex, isn't that your car over there?!" Sam pointed over to a nearby wall on the outside of Mali-U.
Alex looked where Sam was pointing and gasped in shock. "Oh my gosh, it is my car!"
Clover, Sam and Alex ran over to Alex's car which was apparently crashed against the wall.
"Ok, I know Alex isn't always the best driver, but even I can tell this wasn't Alex!" Clover commented.
"Gee, thanks, Clover," Alex groaned.
Alex opened the door to the driver's seat.
"Who could have done this?" Sam wondered aloud.
Alex looked around and noticed something sitting conveniently in the driver's seat. It looked like a purse.
"Hey, isn't that…?" Before Alex could finish her sentence…
"My purse!" Clover shouted before grabbing the purse out of Alex's car. "I've been looking all over for it!"
"What is your purse doing in the front seat of my car?" Alex asked suspiciously.
"I have no idea," Clover said with a raised eyebrow. "I couldn't find my purse since this morning, you guys knew that."
Alex still looked suspicious, "Are you sure you weren't using my car at all this morning, Clover?"
Clover looked a little offended, "Uh, are you implying that I might have crashed your car? I don't even drive a stick-shift!"
"Alex, Clover couldn't have crashed your car, she was with us the whole time," Sam pointed out.
Alex realized that Sam had a point.
"Oh, yeah!" Alex looked at Clover apologetically. "Sorry, Clover."
"Apology accepted," Clover said in a deadpan voice.
"Hmmm… I think we'd better get back to the penthouse and call Jerry ASAP," Sam announced.
Soon, the girls arrived back at their penthouse.
"Who could possibly have crashed my car and left Clover's purse in it?" Alex wondered aloud.
"And why would someone steal my purse and leave it in a crashed car?" Clover added.
"Hey, wait a sec…" Sam suddenly spoke. "My essay is gone. But I thought I left all my stuff here in the living room."
"Are you sure, Sammy?" Alex asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Positive," Sam answered.
Suddenly, Jerry's face appeared on the TV screen.
"I'm sorry to disturb you girls, but I'm afraid I have some disturbing news," Jerry said with a grim look on his face.
"What is it, Jerry?" Sam asked.
"Did you find out who hired Blaine to kill Clover?" Alex inquired.
"No," Jerry said with a serious face. "But this does concern Clover."
"What is it, Jerr?" Clover asked curiously.
Jerry hesitated, "Clover… I'm afraid I have to suspend you from WOOHP."
"Wait, what?!" Clover said in shock.
"What do you mean suspend Clover from WOOHP, Jerry?!" Alex asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, what's this about, Jerr?" Sam asked with her hands on her hips.
Jerry sighed, "This."
Jerry brought up an image on the TV screen. It looked like camera footage taken inside WOOHP headquarters. The video showed Clover breaking into a vault and stealing an experimental WOOHP weapon.
Clover, Sam and Alex all gasped in shock.
"But… I didn't do that!" Clover said in complete disbelief.
"Jerry, when was this video taken exactly?" Sam inquired.
"Sometime after I sent you girls out of the office this morning," Jerry answered.
"Well, then Clover couldn't have stolen that weapon!" Sam pointed out.
"Yeah, she was with us the whole time after you sent all three of us out, remember?" Alex added.
"That… is true…" Jerry said.
"And let's not forget the time when you threatened to give us lobotomies after that Macker guy framed us for bank robberies," Clover pointed out with her arms crossed.
Jerry blushed in embarrassment.
"I… suppose you do have a point," He said concedingly. "I suppose I'll have to conduct a proper investigation in addition to finding out the identity of Blaine's mystery employer. Until then… Sam, Alex, I'll need you two to keep watch on Clover until I can get to the bottom of all of this. That means don't let her out of your sight or let her leave the penthouse."
Sam sighed, "Alright, fine. Just make it quick, ok, Jerry?"
"I can't make any promises," Jerry said before he disappeared off the TV screen.
"This day is just getting weirder and weirder," Alex complained.
"Tell me about it!" Clover whined. "As if losing all of my favorite places wasn't bad enough, now Jerry accuses me of stealing?!"
"I wonder if my crashed car is connected to all of this too," Alex spoke up.
"Yeah, and could my missing essay also have something to do with it?" Sam wondered aloud. "I bet this is all the work of Blaine's mystery employer."
"Well… whatever is going on, somebody better get to the bottom of this soon," Clover said as she started crying. "Operation: Self-love is so not going as I planned!"
Alex put his arm around Clover's shoulder.
"Hey, Clover, it's ok," Alex said in an effort to calm down her boy-crazy best friend.
"We're going to find out who's behind all this and everything's going to be fine," Sam added. "Just hang in there."
Clover smiled, as her crying became tears of joy.
"Thanks, Girls," Clover said gratefully. "I knew I could always count on you."
"Hey, that's what friends are for," Alex said assuringly.
"But, what are we going to do now?" Clover asked. "It's not like we can just wait for Jerry to get to the bottom of this on his own."
"Hmmm…" Alex suddenly thought of something. "I got it. I'm betting that my crashed car is connected to all of this. If I search my car, maybe I'll be able to find a clue."
"But Jerry wants us to watch Clover," Sam pointed out.
"Yes, but he didn't say one of us couldn't leave the penthouse as long as it's not Clover," Alex countered. "I'll just search around my car really fast and see if I can find any clues."
Sam sighed, "Alright, but be careful. Blaine's mystery employer could still be watching our every move."
"Got it, Sammy," Alex said with a nod. "Don't worry, Clover. I promise, I'll find out who's behind all this and get your name cleared."
"I know you will," Clover said with a tearful smile. "Thanks, Alex."
"No problem," Alex responded. "I'll be right back."
With that, Alex ran out of the penthouse and headed over to where her car had been crashed.
Meanwhile, Blaine was riding under the water in the middle of the Pacific Ocean inside a shark-shaped submarine. He was approaching what looked like a gigantic island-sized barge. The submarine deployed a drill which drilled a hole into the wall of the barge. Submarine then went through the hole and landed in some sort of jungle-looking place. Blaine then dismounted from the submarine and took a look at his tracer.
"Looks like my mystery employer is close," Blaine speculated.
He started running through the jungle in an effort to find the one responsible for tricking him into trying to off his girlfriend.
To be continued…
AN: So there were a lot of big differences in this chapter. Two key differences being that Alex did believe that Clover didn't crash her car and while Jerry did accuse Clover, he wasn't that harsh about it thanks to the girls' alibies.
