Ituski called another spell but the lizard and his partner this time responded in kind, the two spells connected in the air negating each other, leaving a cloud of dust in the middle.

Itsuki coughed a little thanks to the dust that had managed to enter her mouth and her legs felt a little shaky, she was new to fighting. Itsuki had never hurt anyone in her life and now she was fighting for her life with this little girl that kept calling her bookkeeper.

"Bookkeeper!" Lya saw Itsuki grow paler, worried that maybe she had been hurt before her arrival and that she could be losing blood.

"Don't worry, it's just the nerves" Itsuki steady her posture and keep holding her book with all her strength "and you Lya, are you alright?"

The young Mamodo just blinked and turned to look at Itsuki's face. she was clearly wounded she had taken the lizard spell and a personal beating from him, but for some reason she could only smile in answer to that question "Ahahaha didn't I tell you I am Lya Von Rauren, if a little blood could deter me, then my great ancestor would laugh at me."

Itsuki truly didn't know what Lya was talking about and if she hadn't seen her throw a laser beam from her wand. She would have considered Lya to be a delusional person or child playing a very imaginative game.

"If you say you're fine then I'm happy."

A growl was heard and once again their enemy stood up in front of them, the dust clouds had been cleared and it only showed a wounded lizard barely holding itself. Lya's beam was faster than the spell of the lizard so when the two casted their spells the magic beam reached the other twice as fast, the explosion hit him on his face. Itsuki felt a little sad about it, after all she had been responsible for leaving it in that state, even if the lizard had been an enemy with clear evil intentions, the girl wearing star hair pins couldn't help but to feel bad about hurting someone.

she had been someone raised in a peaceful country after all. While she and her sisters had a moment of monetary instability early on she never had to reach the level of fighting to eat or in school she had never been in a situation where hurting someone was the solution.

"Lya" Itsuki swallowed trying to think her next words carefully "do we have to kill it?"

Lya was looking at the lizard who was in its last breath "Fufu what a kind bookkeeper I got!" then she aimed her wand at the lizards partner which moved to use the lizard as a cover "see that shadow books if we burn it then the lizard would go back to where it came from"

"Uff" Itsuki let out a breath of relief, she didn't want to have anybody's blood in her hands, even if it was a monster.

"So prepare yourself Bookkeeper a cornered animal is twice as dangerous"

The lizard got on four legs. It no longer cared who he bit first right now. He only wanted to hurt the two in front of him.

"Bookkeeper I need you to cast farusu when I'm below the lizard" Lya licked her lips and got into a pose like she was ready to move in any moment "I'll leave the timing to you and you'll leave the aiming to me"

"...Yes" the girl in front of her was completely putting her trust in Itsuki so she was going to do her best to answer.

And so the lizard throws itself forward with its huge claws and teeth aiming to destroy everything made of flesh. Lya also started to run at full speed. She was feeling her wounds hurt but that didn't stop her at the moment of collision. The white Mamodo slided herself down and aimed her wand at the belly of the lizard.

"[Farusu]" for the fourth time in the day Itsuki managed to cast the spell. Itsuki didn't notice when her knees gave up and hit the ground, after all nobody told her that casting the spells used heart energy. What she was feeling now was the fatigue of using too much in quick use.

But at least this was Itsuki's final spell for today.

Lya light beam hit the lizard in the belly sending him up, he was even higher than the small building that were around, and while gravity did its thing and pulled down the lizard. Lya slide ended with her close to the shadow, she quickly stood up and with her wand she hit the book of the enemy.

Lya wand was shining with remnants of the spell energy not much but enough to damage the green book, soon after the book started to burn.

Itsuki could barely stand on her own and Lya was still in a fighting position. The book was burning,yes. but that it wasn't completely gone, their enemy still had a second or two to make one final desperate move…nothing came. The lizard hit the ground with a strong impact breaking the street floor and its body started to turn black and crumble. Its eyes that during the whole thing were barely present right now were empty like a machine that ran out of power, the same was for the shadow even if it never had a stable form right now it was dissolving itself into thin air.

The winners watched as the other party disappeared until there wasn't any trace left.

Itsuki finally fall to her knees the stress of being chased by a monster and fighting got to her not to mention how much heart energy she had used in this fight.

"Bookkeeper!" Lya ran toward her partner worrying about her.

"Ha…Lya" Itsuki barely could articulate a word, but still did her best to raise her hand and pat Lya on her head, this girl had put everything of herself to save Itsuki she thought that it was the least thing to do, the closest to thing to reward she could give to the girl.

"Bookkeeper" Lya took the hand and held it like a precious thing.

And if the night couldn't get any weirder the lights started to go back to the street and the people and cars started to circulate again in smaller quantities first then becoming bigger and bigger.

Lya noticed that they were in the middle of the damage and the people were giving them weird looks. Her instinct ran first and she quickly put itsuki on her back and started to run, her first objective was getting as far away from the spotlight as possible.

"Bookkeeper, where do you live? You need a place to rest!"

"Nghh" Itsuki still was barely holding on and the most she could do was give directions for Lya with her hand to reach her apartment.

In the Nakano household the situation was tense. Itsuki had gone out in what she said was a quick trip, when Ichika tried to call her the phone couldn't connect, the same thing happened when the other sister also tried with no avail.

In the end Ichika and Nino decided to go look at the bookstore while Miku and Yotsuba watched the fort.

Miku was hugging Yotsuba who was close to tears.

"What if she got attacked by the giant" the fear of Miku's story was still present in her and spiraled to think of the worst possible outcome.

"Shh don't worry Itsuki surely is fine, maybe she saw a good book and lost time reading it" . On the other hand Miku tried to rationalize Itsuki's lack of contact, she tried not to think of the worse outcome.

At that they heard the door of the apartment open.

What they saw was unexpected to say the least. Itsuki was in a visibly bad state while being carried by a little girl who's originally white dress had stains of red and dirt all over.

"Itsuki" Yotsuba rushed to see her sister.

"What's happening here?" Miku was processing the situation. Itsuki had arrived, that's the good thing but her state and the child that was carrying her left her puzzle.

"Two bookkeepers?" At least Miku wasn't the only one confused, the child was also surprised to see two girls so similar to Itsuki.

"What happened to you, Itsuki!?" Yotsuba was shaking Itsuki trying to get her to stay awake, her eyes filled with tears.

"Hey, don't shake her too much" Lya answered. Instead of her "my bookkeeper needs rest."

"Bookkeeper?" Miku pulled out her phone, she didn't know what to do first, call her sister's to come back since Itsuki arrived, call their father to go to the hospital or call the authorities so they take this child away.

"Mhhhng" Itsuki finally moved, her head had been hanging around Lya 's shoulders all this time she looked at Yotsuba then Miku with a tired face "please show her where my room is. And please help me hide Lya I'll explain I'll explain later"

And she went back to sleep, like all her energy went to that small explanation.

"..."

"..."

The silence was evident. The two sisters that weren't sleeping just looked at each other.

"So where's my bookkeeper room?" Lya or at least the name Itsuki called her. was getting frustrated, she was worried about Itsuki and wanted her to rest quickly not to mention her own wounds were also hurting.

Miku and Yotsuba looked at each other one last time and decided right there. Miku wanted to spill everything to Ichika, nino and their dad. On the other hand Yotsuba wanted to respect Itsuki's wishes. So it was two against one, Miku let out a sigh and pointed up toward Itsuki room.

"Second floor where I'm pointing, that's Itsuki room" Lya followed the finger and started to move, going careful on the stairs trying her best not to fall back and cause more pain to her bookkeeper.

Yotsuba was right behind Lya just in case she missed a step. Miku went for the first aid kit and called the remaining sister's that Itsuki was back.

10 minutes later Itsuki was on her bed in clean pajamas and with bandages here and there. If their father had been here he would have called Miku treatment childish and unnecessary. None of Itsuki's wounds went further than a scratch or a light after all, cleaning them was enough.

"Nghh" Itsuki finally moved herself up, her completion having a better color her pink cheeks were finally returning to her face.

"Itsuki!" Yotsuba just hugged her sister, the one on the other side of the hug, while happy for the feeling, also let out a groan due to the strength of the hug.

Miku grabbed Yotsuba shoulder to calm her down and pull her away from Itsuki "Itsuki explain"

Itsuki looked around with no sign of Lya being around, part of her thought of everything going back to being a dream.

"That little girl is in my room. You asked us to hide her"

"Ohh, thank you Miku"

"Now explain what happened!" Miku was clearly worried about Itsuki she had tried to keep her emotions at bay but they were already spilling out "you were gone almost an hour without contact, then you came all wounded and almost unconscious while being carried by a little girl"

"Itsuki!" Yotsuba looked like being about to cry again.

Itsuki was finally getting everything in order from the trip to the bookstore, to the fight, to coming back to the house.

She noticed that in her nightstand was the white book the one she used to cast the spells.

"Eh? This?" Itsuki moved her hand to touch it like the book would disappear like an illusion if she didn't confirm it with a touch.

"You were holding it strongly, while you were on that girl's back" Miku gave Itsuki the explanation of how the book arrived there.

"What happened? Itsuki" Yotsuba's worried look already told her that if she gave anything less than the truth they wouldn't believe it.

With some effort she raised herself from the bed. She looked at the other two and let out a sigh.

"You wouldn't believe it" then Itsuki started to explain how everything was normal until she reached the bookstore, then everything went downhill from there.

"Itsuki" Yotsuba didn't have the words to react to Itsuki's tale. It is not like she thought that Itsuki was lying but it was hard to believe.

"You really expect us to believe that?" Miku had her arms crossed and gave Itsuki a serious look. Itsuki thought she saw Nino in front of her for a moment "that you went on a easy errand and ended up in a shonen fight"

"I know is hard to believe, but look I have proof, Lya and the book" then Itsuki grabbed the book on her nightstand, she wasn't going to cast a spell she just wanted to show them that weird word and maybe make it glow. She flipped the page until it reached the only one page she could read.

"See it says the same of the spell" she didn't want to say [Farusu] in fear of blowing a hole in the apartment, and presented to Miku and Yotsuba, the two just looked at the book with confused expressions.

"It says nothing, Itsuki is just gibberish" Miku just took the book from Itsuki's hands and started to go through the pages until it finally reached one that called her attention "Mmm? here there's one I can read, Iosatsu? what a weird word."

"Oh oh let me see, maybe it's like those black stains test" Now Yotsuba grabbed the book, like it was her time to play with it.

"a rorschach test?" Miku couldn't help to inject her comment.

After flipping the pages like miku had done she also stopped in a certain page "mine says, Conezionzu" meanwhile Itsuki had a terrified face throughout the whole deal her sisters were just saying spells without fear of repercussions.

At least she realized that nothing was happening, that first the book had to shine for the words to work, but the fear of having her roof blown off was too big so she took the book from Yotsuba hands.

"Stop playing around its serious"

"Serious how?" Miku was getting tired of the game Itsuki was playing "you are full of wounds and now you're sprouting things about a magic girl and a book. Itsuki, did you get hit by a car on the way? concussions are dangerous we should call dad"

"Like I said, listen to me, I know it is weird but but" maybe it was the frustration of having her sisters not believing her or maybe she wanted to assure herself that everything was real but all the same her feelings flowed through the book and it started to shine.

Miku and Yotsuba stayed quiet looking that the book was shining just like in the story her sister just told them.

"It doesn't prove anything. The book maybe has some LED or it was a paint that shines under a specific light" Miku keeps trying to look at everything under a rational mind.

"Lya!" Itsuki yelled the name of the girl that was next door.

"Bookkeeper what is it? An enemy?" and she came aiming her wand at any possible thread.

"Do you know the reach of your attack?"

"Mmm? Yes is around three times the longitude of this room"

Itsuki stood up with some effort, her strength had finally begun to return. She opened her window and pointed to the sky.

"Lya aim toward the sky!" she checked again that neither bird nor plane was low enough to get hit by the beam, she only saw an empty sky, Lya was confused but followed her orders.

"[Farusu]"

Just like in the fight with the lizard, Itsuki said those words and a beam of red light was shot from Lya's wand.

Miku and Yotsuba just stayed quiet. not believing what they saw but without any other way to contradict reality.

"See I wasn't lying" said the youngest while feeling dizzy again. Lya quickly moved closer to help her regain balance.

For some moments there was pure silence, none knew what to say anymore.

"So what now?" Miku was still in shock but she knew that soon Ichika and Nino would be back.

"We have to tell the other's" Yotsuba thought that this was something that should be shared between all of them, that between all of them they could reach a solution.

"No. at least not yet" Itsuki finally give her conclusion "Ichika is going to call father and Nino would surely want Lya out of the house" that was her conclusion giving her view of her sisters Ichika while usually very laid back she acted like the most matured one when it counts and Nino wouldn't want anything that could disturb the balance the sisters have.

"Bookkeeper…" Lya looked up to Itsuki who had a clear decision in her eyes.

"Lya" Itsuki kneeled to get on Lya eye level "you can call me Itsuki, I would only get more confused if you keep calling me bookkeeper."

The girl's eyes shined "Yes, Itsuki!"

Miku and Yotsuba looked at each other wondering what they were going to tell the others when they came back.

with this we ended the first battle for Itsuki. while nothing to crazy it worked as introduction for Itsuki to the Mamodo battles.

the main reason for doing this fanfic apart from liking the two series I'm meshing together is that in most xover with superpower elements. the girls doesn't do much apart from being in a state of defenseless, either worrying about the protagonist or themselves. I mean of course in a Spiderman xover you cant have Nino slap the Rhino. none of the girls are fighters that is something clear they came from harem romcom were a slap was a big deal but with Zatch bell power sistem they CAN fight they just need to have feelings strong enough for the book to react and the Mamodo is the one throwing and receiving punches. I suppose Digimon could also work but I like zatch bell more.

For some weeks I couldn't get out my head the idea of the quints having the chance to fight how they could approach the subject and what spells would fit them.
