I Don't own nothing, First story fr
I've been living in Pewter city for as long as I can remember. My parents have told me that we used to live in lavender town before we moved here because of my father's work. I have no memories of lavender town; I was only a baby when we moved. My parents would tell me stories about their grand adventures in Lavender town. Sometimes their stories would make me wish we still lived there.
But life in Pewter City was nice. It was a quiet town if you ignored the trainers who would come daily to challenge Brock.
Brock Harrison had always been the idol of many. He was respected by all who challenged him. He was adored by all the children in Pewter City. I was no exception.
Every day after school I would go to the gym to watch his battles. His Onyx was my favorite. How could it not be? Brock's Onyx was a special case. He was much larger than any other Onyx, and He was much more intimidating. In the battlefield He was a monster, destroying foes like they were nothing. But deep down He was a sweetheart.
After the gym closes, Brock would always walk to the large clearing behind the gym. He'd let the local children come and play with his Pokémon. A lot of my friends would be there every Saturday. I'd go with them and hang out with all the cool Rock type Pokémon.
Like I said earlier, Onyx was a sweetheart deep down. He would let us climb his back before he slithered around the clearing. Typically, a kid or two would fall off, much to the dismay of Brock.
I was only ten when I decided to become a trainer. Although legally I could start, it would be a lot harder without a sponsor or a starter. Typically, trainers would set off on their 16th birthday, that was when they could go out into the forest without a starter Pokémon (with parental permission.)
Many trainers from Pewter city would start their journey in Viridian Forest. Typically catching a Pidgey or a Caterpie before setting off to "find themselves through Pokémon." I never understood what they meant by that.
I unfortunately delayed starting my journey. My parents were against me becoming a trainer, so I had to wait till I was eighteen. That was when I could leave without their permission. That was 4 years away. I would hear my classmates talk excitedly about their plans. My friend, Ameer Marsh, was the loudest of them all.
Ameer was... "well off" to put it nicely. He lived in the biggest house in Pewter city. Apparently, his dad was some hotshot in Silph Co. His mother was the standard "trophy wife," always saying yes to whatever Ameer asked for. Mr. and Mrs. Marsh were kind people, but they were also out of touch with the rest of us "peasants." They never understood the struggle we faced when we ran out of food on a Thursday but had to wait until Saturday to restock groceries to "stay in budget."
My father, Theodore Blitz was a hardworking man. Although I'd barely see him, I knew it was for the best. He worked long hours, from sunrise to sundown just to put food on the table. I could never ask him for a starter Pokémon. The good ones were always expensive, typically costing thousands of Dollars. While I'd dream of owning a Charmander, I knew I was only being delusional.
