Chapter 470 Erection Reaction
"
Jax prided himself on always keeping his cool and handling any situation, but that was before Tig tackled him and developed an erection. Tig was a strange guy, but he didn't know he was that strange.
"Brother," Jax said pointing to the bulge in Tig's pants, "you need to get laid."
Tig's faced actually flushed. Jax didn't think he'd ever seen Tig embarrassed. First time for everything.
Tig laughed nervously.
"Yeah, I need to get a couple of crow-eaters. Been focused too much on self-improvement."
"You need to take care of your sex life, man," Jax said slapping Tig on the shoulder and walking on.
None of the guys had heard their conversation, so he'd spared Tig some embarrassment. It was bad enough that Tig had overreacted when he thought he'd seen a gun and almost caused a panic in the park; if they knew about his hard-on, Tig would never live that down. Jax also didn't want to be tagged as the guy that got Tig hard even though it was funny as hell.
Jax checked the time and decided to go by Scarlett's shop and take her to lunch. He called her quickly before they got on their bikes to begin the ride back to Charming. When he got to her shop, he parked his bike in the front. She unlocked the front door and let Jax into the store.
"Any problems?" Jax asked.
"No," Scarlett said. "Sack has been protecting me. He makes me go into the bathroom and lock the door with my gun and phone when we take deliveries just in case Esai has someone working with him."
Jax looked at Sack narrowing his eyes. Finally, he nodded his head, the faintest smile curving his lips.
"Good thinking. You've got forty-five minutes off. I'm taking Scarlett to lunch."
Sack hesitated for a moment.
"Go!" Jax said.
Scarlett locked the door behind Sack while Jax quickly filled her in on the meeting with Alvarez.
"You think he's sincere about helping?"
"I do. We rode in with guys from other charters as a show of force so Alvarez knows this isn't just SAMCRO, it's all the Sons. He also gets that you can't go after the old ladies of a rival club. He doesn't have much choice. This is all a result of his stupid plan to take out SAMCRO. He and his kid are going to have to pay the price."
"It's nice the other charters are helping out," Scarlett said.
"An attack on one charter is an attack on all the charters. We always help each other out. How about Mexican food for lunch? It's only a couple of blocks. We could walk."
Scarlett grabbed her purse and locked the door behind them.
"I can always eat Mexican food."
"If we sit side by side will you behave yourself?" Jax asked, eyes sparkling with mischievously.
"My behavior is always on point," Scarlett said primly.
"I'm going to corrupt you," Jax said with a grin.
Over chips and salsa, Scarlett told Jax that her father was moving to Charming.
"Will he live with you?"
"No," Scarlett said laughing. "He's looking to buy a house. It won't be bad for us. He won't cause trouble between us or interfere."
"Unlike Gemma," Jax said.
"She hasn't caused problems or interfered."
"That's because we haven't let her. I want her to quit trying. I haven't finished talking to her, but I'm going to wait until the guys from the visiting charters leave Friday morning before I talk to her again."
The waitress deposited two warm platters of Mexican food—a beef tamale and cheese enchilada with rice and beans for Jax and a beef tamale and rice for Scarlett on the table.
Scarlett took a deep appreciative breath.
"I don't know why I think of Mexican food as comfort food, but it always calms me when I smell it."
That was part of his plan to put Scarlett in a good mood before he had to deliver some bad news.
"I'm going to need to be at the clubhouse late. I'll be back between eleven and midnight. I can't just leave early with the guys from other charters there. Same with Thursday. They are leaving Friday morning."
"I understand. You're the VP and you can't be rude because they are helping you out."
That was one of the many things Jax loved about Scarlett she was sensible and rational. If he'd told Wendy he needed to be at the clubhouse late, she would accuse him of cheating on her. He'd never cheated on Wendy when they were together, but he could never convince her that whenever he was out of her sight, he wasn't cheating.
He loved Scarlett and she'd been clear that if he ever cheated on her that they would be over. No second chances. Even without her warning, he wouldn't cheat on Scarlett. He couldn't take seeing the pain in her eyes. She was the best thing that had ever happened to him and he wasn't going to screw that up.
"Do you need food for the guys?" Scarlett asked.
"Gemma's doing sandwiches for lunch and we'll probably get pizza for dinner."
"My dad wants to do a big cook day. We can start this afternoon and finish tomorrow. We can make some food for the guys for tomorrow's dinner. Just tell me how many and when you want the food there."
"Can you stand long enough to cook?"
"My dad and Sack can do the cooking. I can sit at the bar and chop stuff. With three of us working together, we'll get through a lot of cooking for the freezer."
"Thank you. I'll text you with the number of guys."
Jax squeezed Scarlett's thigh. He began touching her inner thigh beginning at her knee, slowly stroking his way up her thigh.
"What are you doing?" she asked breathlessly, her face flushed.
"Getting you all stirred up," he whispered in her ear.
He was giving her a little payback for that kiss in the bedroom this morning. Scarlett needed to learn, he wasn't the only one who could get all stirred up.
