I was surrounded by police officers in SWAT gear. I knew that it was something that I would be able to get out of on my own, but I needed to wait for Sara to get there. I was pretty sure that she would be coming or I wouldn't have done this otherwise. I didn't think that I would get much chance to talk to her at the moment. It didn't feel good having a lot of guns pointed out at me, even though I was pretty sure that being shot with them wouldn't kill me. It probably still hurt a lot though.

"Put your weapon down." Lt. Pike declared.

"I'm not your enemy." I told him.

"If you mean us no harm you will put your weapon down." He pointed out. I was kind of upset that they didn't see the good that I was doing for the city. I started to lower my bow before she swept in. I wasn't able to get a good look at her face, but she screamed and let out some sonic waves. It was clear that this version of Sara was a metahuman like the Laurel from Earth 2. Her distraction had given me the opportunity to escape. She grabbed onto me and the two of us jumped into the water and swam for it.

"Who are you?" I asked once we were back on the shore. "Why did you help me?"

She didn't answer and just ran off. I always wondered why she was so keen on keeping her identity a secret from me when it was obvious that she knew who I was. Maybe she didn't want me to know that she was still alive. Though to be fair, if I didn't know she was alive, I wouldn't recognize her. She was even shorter than I was.

I headed back to the lair where Courtney, Iris and Mia were. I knew that they would probably have some questions for me.

"Is there any reason why you're wet?" Courtney inquired. I had a feeling that that would be one of them.

"I had some trouble at the docks." I explained. "A SWAT team was there to meet me instead of Detective Lance."

"Why do you still call him Detective when he's no longer a detective?" Courtney asked. I was surprised that no one had ever asked me that before but I knew the answer.

"It's a sign of respect." I answered. "He wasn't there, so I have a feeling that the police used his connection to me in order to get me there."

"Well how did you get out of there?" Iris questioned. "Please tell me that you didn't kill any cops."

I glared at her before I spoke.

"No." I explained. "There was another vigilante. This one had the power to create sonic blasts orally."

I noticed the look Mia was giving me, but I also knew that I couldn't discuss the rest of it around Courtney and Iris. I didn't even want to say that I thought it was Sara because it would make me sound a little crazy since I didn't have any proof it was her.

"That still doesn't explain why you're wet." Mia pointed out.

"She grabbed me and we jumped in the water to get away from them." I answered. "I want to find out who she is. She's not another copycat. She has real training and she has superpowers."

Part of me wondered if the fact that I had superpowers and the fact that Sara had them were connected. Maybe we had gotten them at the same time.

"So what are you going to do about the police being after you?" Iris replied.

"They've been after me ever since I started this. I just have to be careful." I told her. "I know that I may not seem like sometimes, but I know what I am doing because I've done this stuff before. You need to trust me."

I was a little bit nervous about some of this stuff, because while I had done it before, I didn't know if everything would go the same. I didn't know if all of the people that I fought would be the same. I didn't even know if Slade was the main person that I would be fighting because Malcolm wasn't. I didn't even know if I knew Slade because I had no guarantee that he had been on the island since I didn't have memories like the other people in this world had. They didn't know that none of that stuff actually happened, that this world had only started from the point where I got rescued from the island. I did note that it was a weird point for a world to start from. It seemed like I was the center of this universe.

That day after work, I was getting a hot dog on the streets by the club when I ran into Quentin.

"Hello, Detective." I greeted him.

"You have to be the only one who still calls me that." He commented.

"Well I don't think it was right that you were demoted for helping the city." I explained. "You're a hero whether your superiors see it or not."

At that point, his radio went off and they told them not to respond to it. I was pretty sure that I knew what that meant. One of the creepiest villains that I had ever faced was on the loose again. I was also a little bit scared because it was possible that he might try to target me. I didn't know how he felt about underage girls. I hoped that I wouldn't have nightmares about the guy.

At night, Courtney and I were sparring a little during a bit of a slow period. Also no one had called out so I didn't have to be on the floor. I was also trying not to be turned on by her touching me.

"So I've found a few police reports that relate to our mystery girl." Iris stated. "They described a masked woman wearing a leather jacket going after attackers. She put five attempted rapists in the hospital."

That confirmed that it was Sara.

"Seems like her and it seems like she's targeting criminals." I stated.

"Who do you think she is?" Mia asked me.

"I don't know." I lied. At that point, I got a call from Quentin's personal phone. "Hello, Detective."

I met him on top of a building.

"So why did you call me?" I asked him even though I knew the answer.

"I have something that I need your help with." He answered. He was holding a file in his hand. "I understand that you're trying to save this city without killing people anymore. Is that true?"

"Yes." I stated.

"This city is hurting and the police, I always thought that we didn't need to go outside the law to find justice, but there's a recent crime that made me not so sure anymore." He explained before he gave me the file. "This is Barton Mathis. The media calls him the Dollmaker. He suffocates his victims with a flexible polymer that he pours down their throats then he dresses the bodies up like dolls. I put him away, but because of the quake, he's out and he's killing again."

"Why are these from six years ago?" I questioned.

"It's my personal file." He declared.

"Are you sure it's the file that's just personal?" I asked.

"Mathis killed eight girls before I got him last time. I don't want him killing any more." He replied.

"Why are you coming to me instead of the police?" I inquired as I turned to look at him.

"Because they don't want me to help and I don't think that they're prepared for him." Quentin remarked. "They don't even want people to know that Mathis escaped. I think you and me are the only ones who can stop this guy."

He was wrong because there was another person and I knew that he would be proud of her, even if he didn't like her methods.

I took the files back and we started to look them over along with whatever we could find about him on the internet.

"So what do we know?" I questioned.

"The last time the Dollmaker was active, he made one kill every three days." Courtney stated.

"Do we have anything to connect the victims?" I asked.

"Well they're all young and pretty." Iris replied.

"How young?" Courtney asked nervously.

"They were all over 18." Iris answered. Courtney breathed a sigh of relief. "Lance couldn't figure out how he chose them. He doesn't have any family or known acquaintances. He's going to be really hard to catch."

"If anyone can catch him, we can." Mia declared. I did know that since he wasn't interested in me or Courtney, we would have to use Iris or Mia as bait and I didn't feel good about doing that even though I was pretty sure that neither of them would die.

"Iris, can you call Lance and set up a meeting at the office of whoever represented Mathis." I instructed.

"So I take it we're putting this other vigilante on the backburner?" Courtney responded.

"I'd rather focus on saving the lives of innocent people." I commented.

The next day, Thea got me out of school early so I could visit Mom. As part of his plea deal Malcolm was not allowed to meet with her before the trial, so it was up to the two of us.

"So are you okay?" Thea asked.

"You can't keep asking that every time you come and see me. It's looking I'll be getting 25 to life." Mom responded.

"Mom, you don't need to think like that." I told her.

"Well I can't exactly live off positive thinking." She pointed out.

"I know something that can help. Your attorney said you can wear regular clothes to your pretrial hearing." Thea explained.

"I need you two to understand. Over five hundred people are dead and it's because of my involved with your father." Mom replied. "I am ready to accept my punishment."

"What if it means spending the rest of your life in here?" Thea asked.

"At least I'll know that the company and my family are in good hands." Mom declared before she gave both of us a hug.

That night, I went with Quentin to see the attorney. He tried to do things the civil way and when that didn't work, I came out.

"Where can we find Mathis?" I asked.

"Iron Heights Prison." The attorney answered nervously.

"He got out." I remarked. The man seemed surprised by that, but I was pretty sure that he would be briefed if his client was no longer in prison.

"How?" He responded.

"Do you have any idea where he would go?" I questioned.

"I don't. I swear." He replied before I drew my bow at him. "Okay, there is one more place. He was always drawing it. His cell walls were covered with the place. The Bisque Museum. He said it reminded him of Germany where porcelain dolls were invited."

We headed to the museum, specifically the apartments that were nearby. Even though I was pretty sure that he wouldn't go after me, I still had nightmares about it. I didn't even know if he would be able to kill me. but the idea of being dressed up like a doll was terrifying. Well in my dream I was turned into an actual doll, which would probably be worse.

"So the receptionist says that someone matching Mathis's description checked in last week. Room 52." Quentin remarked. I couldn't help but wonder why some many important things around here happened to involve the number 52. It was probably just a coincidence, but I couldn't help but wonder if it was supposed to be connected, but I didn't have time for conspiracy theories. "And he paid in cash. Just to be clear when we go in there, we're here to arrest Mathis, not torture him."

"You asked for my help." I pointed out.

"And I'm still a police officer." He argued.

"Do you wanna catch him or not?" I challenged.

"Let's go," He declared as he pulled out his gun.

I broke down the door because I knew that he wouldn't open it if we asked. Unfortunately, just like before, the only thing that was there was a doll with a newspaper clip and a phone, which started ringing. I was pretty sure that he had a camera in the apartment because it would be weird if just happened to when we arrived.

Quentin answered it. I tried to get someone to trace it even though I was pretty sure that we wouldn't be able to get there in time. I couldn't hear what was on the call, but I was pretty sure that it was Mathis taunting him. I also knew that he had originally killed someone while he was forced to listen to her screams and I was pretty sure that he was doing that again. He was a very demented person.

Judging by the way that Quentin reacted, that was exactly what he was doing. I knew that I should have told him just to hang up because it was already too late. Listening to the screams would only cause him more pain,

"He's blocking the trace." Mia told me.

"Barton, don't do it. I am begging you. Is that what you want. I am begging you." Quentin pleaded. The problem was it was already too late. I was pretty sure that he was doing his best not to break down in tears. I should have stopped him. I was nearly crying just thinking about what happened. I went back to the club feeling a little crestfallen.

"They found her body an hour ago." Iris explained as I entered.

"Do we have any information on the new victim that we can use to find a pattern?" I asked.

"The police are sending off forensics to a private lab on a private server because someone hacked their server a few too many times." Iris explained. If they didn't make so easy to hack, I wouldn't have done it so much. I tried to remember the name of the skin cream that some of the victims used. I also couldn't help how he knew that they were using it.

I then took Quentin to the server and started to do it myself there. I was used to breaking and entering and drugging the security guards. Since I couldn't remember, I would need to know the name of it. I also couldn't help but wonder how Sara had found out about him, but I wasn't surprised that she did considering that she was targeting men who went after women and killing them was probably worse than what the other guys had planned to do.

"I found something." I explained as I told him the formula.

"Yeah I've seen it before." He answered. "What is it?"

"It's a skin cream." I stated.

"Yeah, mermaid something. One of the victims had it in her purse and I had the lab analyze it." Quentin told me.

"It's called Mermaiden." I replied. I then thought of a reason how I knew that. "My mom used it before. It can't be a coincidence that two victims had the same taste in skin scream."

"I could never figure out how he chose his victims." Quentin commented.

"Well, I'm glad that I was able to help you." I stated.

The following day, I was dressed for work wearing a red strapless dress. Even though red was Mia's color, I couldn't wear green, so I had that.

"So you're telling me that our only lead is a skin cream?" Courtney inquired.

"It's something," I pointed out. "How many stores in the area sell it?"

"It's not very many. It's marketed for women with extremely delicate complexions." Iris declared. "Only three stores in the area carry and three have surveillance systems. He hasn't been near any of them, which means we found his favorite hangout."

"He's probably looking for his next victim now." Mia remarked.

"Then that's what we'll give him." Iris offered. "I'll go and buy some since I don't think he'll be interested in high school girls."

"I'm only in high school to be close to Olivia." Mia pointed out.

"Iris, that's too dangerous." I told her. "I can wear a tracker that would make me easy to find if he catches me."

Well we had our plan. I just hoped that it wouldn't go wrong. I was pretty sure that it wouldn't. I knew that Iris would be fine.

We all were wearing comms as we were in position.

"Just for the record. I am not in favor of dangling helpless girls in front of psychopaths." Quentin replied.

"Detective, I've held the same rank that you do now." Iris pointed out. "I also have my gun."

"You know that he has been known to use chloroform which could knock you out before you can grab it." He remarked.

"So how's your daughter?" I asked him. I was a bit of a weird question but we had a little bit of time to kill. I couldn't help but wonder if he had heard about Sara's exploits as well.

"She's doing really well. I'm still worried about that guy she's dating." He replied.

"She could do a lot worse than a doctor." I pointed out.

"I know but I've already lost one daughter. She would probably be around the same age as you, give or take a few years." He replied.

"I'm sorry." I declared.

"Less than a month after it happened, I got involved in this case. I think upon some level with each girl I was trying to save Sara." He explained. "But unfortunately, I wasn't able to do that."

"Your daughter would be proud of all the good work you've done for this city." I stated.

"Someone's coming?" Iris interrupted. At that point, I readied my bow. "You know I was wrong. This gun does make me any less afraid."

"He's not going to hurt you." I assured her.

"Okay. It was a false alarm." Iris replied. At that point, she screamed. We ran into position and managed to get her free. I shot Mathis with an arrow but he kept running. He may have been wearing extra padding knowing that I was coming. Courtney and Quentin followed after him.

"Are you okay?" I asked her.

"Never let me volunteer to be bait for a serial killer again." She requested. Courtney then came over to us and I went after him. I found him about to shoot Quentin. He quickly ran off but before I could do anything, I heard sirens.

"Go." Quentin told me.

The following day I was just leaving school when I got a call from Iris.

"They're charging him with obstruction. He's currently in custody." She explained. I felt bad but I was pretty sure that he knew the risk since he had been told not to pursue Mathis.

"Well I went to the stores and told them that the product was found to be in connection to the killings. I don't know if it will do anything, but it might." She explained. Something told me that it probably wouldn't. I wasn't even sure if the stores cared that their customers could be killed as long as they got their money. Corporate greed was a terrible thing. "What are we going to do about Quentin?"

"Unfortunately, I can't deal with that right now." I replied as Thea took me into the courthouse. I knew she wouldn't get out, but I had to hope the trial would go okay. I took a seat with Thea, Malcolm and Tommy.

The first thing that I noticed was that our attorney didn't seem to be very good. I couldn't help but wonder why Malcolm hadn't acquired a better one. She tried to get bail, even though people who were charged with the crimes that my mother was typically didn't get them. Part of me thought that they were going extra hard on her because they were unable to charge Robert with any crimes on account of him being dead. He may have not been dead, but since he hadn't been found, they couldn't declare him alive.

It was then that I realized that they were once again seeking the death penalty. I would have a hard time believing that they would be able to get that sentence since my mother had neither activated the machine, now had she ordered the killings. I also wished that I could explain that the quake was actually caused by a metahuman, one that I had no idea how to find.

"Mom we are going to fight this." I told her. I knew that Malcolm would never let that happen, regardless of whether or not I told him not to interfere.

Once we got home, I could tell that Malcolm was pissed.

"I am not going to let them do that to my wife." He declared.

"Well what are you going to do about it?" Tommy questioned. "Are you going to bribe the jury or something?"

He didn't know that was something that Malcolm would do, at least the Malcolm that I had known would do.

"Dad, you are on probation. If you interfere with this case at all, they could put you away with obstruction of justice." I pointed out.

"Well for starters, I think we're going to need a better attorney." Malcolm stated. I had a pretty good who had planned on calling. I just hoped that Barbara would be willing to defend her. "Do you think you can call your girlfriend's mom for a favor?"'

"Are you sure that she can even do that?" I questioned. It sounded a little bit like a conflict of interest. Of course, Laurel had been able to prosecute my mother, so I wasn't sure about conflicts of interest. I wondered if I should try to study law sometime.

"Yes, she can." He confirmed.

So I called Courtney and asked her to talk to her mother about it. There was also a chance that Barbara wouldn't feel comfortable representing her. With me there was enough leeway that I could be innocent. My mother was definitely guilty. It would just be a factor of whether or not her complicity was enough for a crime. We would still have to wait for her answer.

There was one thing that I could possibly do to find Sara. I had to wear a disguise because I knew that I still wasn't very popular in the Glades. I found her where she was known to hang out.

"Excuse me." I greeted her. "Are you Cindy Simone?"

"You have a lot of nerve coming out here, Bitch." She told me. "Tell me why I shouldn't let everyone here know who you are."

"Because I want to talk to you about a friend of yours." I remarked. "She has blonde hair and wears a leather jacket and fishnets. Sound familiar?"

She started to run and I realized that I was no position to catch her. If Sara already knew who I was, there wouldn't really be any point to it anyway.

I then went into work and found that Emiko was there.

"Is there any particular reason you're dressed like that?" She asked.

"I was looking for someone in the Glades but when I finally talked to her, she ran away.

"Why are exactly were you looking for this person?" Emiko asked. "Also what's her name?"

"Her name is Cindy Simone and she's supposedly friends with someone else I was looking for." I explained. I didn't really want to tell her any more because I felt like it could lead to her connecting the dots.

"Well I could ask some people around the club." She offered. "Also, can you talk to the vendors. The customers really like cherry juice and we ran out of the last shipment in three days."

"Okay." I agreed.

"So I'd ask how your mom's hearing went, but I'm pretty sure from your demeanor that it didn't go well."

"You know it's a shame that the two of us aren't actually sisters." I told her.

"I don't care that we're not blood-related. We're sisters whether the courts say it or not." She told before she wrapped me in a hug.

"They're seeking the death penalty." I explained.

"Well that's not going to happen." She promised me.

At that point, there was a breaking news bulletin.

"Officer Quentin Lance and his daughter Dinah were abducted today. No ransom has been issued." The reporter replied. Okay, that was definitely a way for Sara to find out.

At that point, I ran downstairs.

"How did he get them?" I asked.

"He got them both as they were leaving the precinct." Mia replied. "I pulled up security footage. Mathis shot a guard before he took them out with a taser. Do you think he took them to his hideout?"

"Probably but we need to find out where that hideout is because I don't think he has them in his apartment." I explained.

"Well he has a van from Metamorpho Chemicals." Iris replied. "It was condemned after the quake. It would be the perfect place for him to make some dolls."

At that point, Courtney came in.

"Did you find them?" She asked.

"I think I know where they are, but I need to ask you if you've talked to your mom yet." I told her. I really needed her help with this case.

"Not yet." She replied.

"Well I need you to do that. I want to tell Malcolm that we can count on your mom." I explained. "Mia and I can handle this. I need you to help my mom."

"Are you sure?" She inquired.

"Yeah, sometimes being a hero is more than just fighting bad guys." I told her.

"At least take the staff. It's fastest way to get there." Courtney explained.

It was a good thing that the staff seemed to trust me and I couldn't help but notice how weird that sounded in my head. It probably wouldn't let me use it, but it would still listen to me.

We ended up making it there to find that Dinah was hooked up to his machine and while Quentin was tied to a pole. I shot an arrow which quickly severed the tube before any could get into her mouth. Now that I knew she was safe, the two of us could go and start to pursue him. I did make sure to free Quentin first, so he could free her.

"I don't care if you kill him at this point. Just get him." He ordered. I started to run, hoping that Mia would be near the exit to block him from escaping. However, before he could even get there, I heard the loud scream. Yep, Sara was here. He did manage to brief get the upper hand on her, but I shot him with an arrow before he could even touch her.

"You know you have such lovely skin. Why are you risking it being tarnished like this?" Mathis asked me.

"You're going back to prison." I told him.

"No, he's not." Sara interrupted before she threw a piece of rebar into his heart. I wasn't surprised by that considering that he had literally tried to kill her sister. I had killed some people that had tried to go after Thea.

Before I could even get a good look at her, she was gone. I couldn't help but wonder if she thought that I would be disappointed in her. I hadn't even seen all of her face yet because she was wearing a mask around her eyes.

I decided to send Tommy a text as soon as Mathis was dead. He called me not long after.

"So who took them?" He asked me. I realized that I probably should have told him more.

"His name was Barton Mathis." I explained.

"The Dollmaker? I thought he was in prison." Tommy responded. "And why do you say was?"

"I didn't kill him." I remarked. "It was someone else."

"Well thank you. You saved the love of my life." He stated.

"That's what sisters are for." I joked.

"You still aren't funny." He told me.

I went to his apartment after he was home.

"How is she?" I inquired.

"She's okay. She's with her boyfriend right now." He explained. "You know there is nothing that I can ever do to repay you for what you did tonight. I didn't even care if he killed me, but Dinah means everything to me."

"You don't need to repay me." I informed him.

After I was done, I got a text saying that Barbara had agreed to represent my mother. Well that was some more good news to end the night.

At that point, we all decided to meet in the club. We needed to discuss what had happened.

"So do you have any idea who this girl is and why she is so interested in helping you?" Courtney asked. I looked over at Mia and I realized that I was pretty sure that I needed to tell what I knew.

"It's because I know who she is. I've dealt with someone like this before and up until now I wasn't sure if she survived or not." I explained.

"What do you mean that you're not sure if she survived or not?" Iris asked.

"Because I'm pretty sure that it's Sara." I stated.

So Sara finally made her first appearance. She's played by Madison Iseman. Also I made sure to do more with Emiko and Tommy in this chapter. Will Sara have answers regarding Olivia's pre-rescue life? Please don't forget to review.
