This is a naruto x genshin crossover.
I got oinspired by some furina centric fics and got the motivation to make this.
it has the elements of some other fics combined together.
"ladies and gentlemen... this concludes my opening performance". Lyney said bowing towards the crowd. "now without further ado... we may proceed to the trial of our god"
Furina looked blankly at her so-called accusers as she stood in the middle of the stage. Her mind went through recent events that made her end up here. The poisson incident, the mob that chased after her when she visited poisson, the traveller apparently helping her which was only an act so she could pry out her secret..the truth about prophecy, then the fact that they have just put her up on a trial for all of fontaine to see.
'Ah.. I see, so they want to use the trial and pressure me into confessing the truth.. Quite the devious plan .. but..' Her gaze swept across her deceivers: the traveller and his annoying balloon; the Spina di Rosula's president Navia; her fatui twins; her own bodyguard Clorinde; and her company of past four hundred years, the Ludex of Fontaine Neuvillette; and the fontainians who were watching her, waiting to devour her at the slightest mistake.
Her eyes returned to the ludex who was watching her with his trademark stoic face but his eyes were narrowed, glaring down at her as if he was looking down on a heinous criminal,..trying to intimidate her. Trying being the keyword since his eyes widened briefly when she matching his glare with her own.
She raised her hand and clapped briefly. " i have to applaud for your efforts into bringing me here, that was quite impressive" . she looked toward the traveller unhidden disgust in her eyes ." I have to say you have quite the way with words. I nearly fell for it...quite the manipulator you are. Although i guess i shouldn't be surprised ..it is quite expected from one who is working with the fatui".
A murmer rose in the crowds at her proclamation.
Lumine's face fell for a moment before becoming determined. " your inaction forced us to take action, furina". Whispers of agreement rose from the crowd.
"i should have taken care of you and that annoying pest the moment you stepped foot in fontaine" furina spat out making the entire hall look at her in surprise at the venom in her tone. She took a breath. " i am sorry everyone it seems i owe all of you an apology for what happened in poisson. It was my duty to protect all of fontaine and i have failed at it. I know all of you are disappointed in me and trust me when i say there is no one more disappointed in myself than me." She said with as much sincerity as she could. " alas, i cant let your desperation or your idiotism ruin five centuries of work."
Her words caused an uproar in the crowds and among the prosecution ,most of them looking at her with widened eyes at her proclamation
"what!!" that annoying balloon's shrill voice echoed above the uproar, but furina just waved her off.
"how about you answer one question of mine, how did you accomplish all of this ?." she asked.
The prosecution then proceeded to explain everything from navia instigating the mob to lumine trapping her in the magic box made by the fatui. Furina had to once again applaud for their efforts for tricking her.
"now then why don't we not waste any more time and get to the subject. You proclaim that this is a trial for me. If this is about poisson incident then as i already stated while i am disappointed and ashamed in myself i won't let all my work end in waste because of this. So while i understand your stance you still haven't stated the supposed crime i committed if its about my inaction you need much more than that to convict me of a crime..."
Lumine and the others shared a look. This wasn't what they thought furina's reaction would be but they couldn't back off now. They wanted to make this as painless as possible but if furina wasn't going to make this easy then they had no choice to go through with their plan. "that is true but my charge is unrelated to your inaction as an archon ". sharing another look with others taking a breath she pointed at the regina of all fontaine with determination she had when she faced all her adversities. " i would like to charge you as a fraud who's never been an archon in the first place"
The crowd was shocked at her words, having not expecting her to make that sort of proclamation
"wait.. what was that ? lady furina is a fraud?!"
"i came here thinking that we were going to try the hydro archon for forsaking her duty? But she's not a archon in the first place??"
Neuvillette slammed his cane on the floor. "Charge accepted."
Furina rolled her eyes and scoffed. "Ridiculous. I would've understood forsaking my duty but you want to charge me as a fraud?"
Neuvillette stared down at her, trying to intimidate her. "May I interpret these words... as your refusal to stand trial?" He didn't want to do this to her, but with Fontaine at risk, such actions were necessary. "In that case, you will have the opportunity to defend your honour through a duel."
Clorinde walks onstage silently, blade in hand. She raised her blade and pointed at her archon's neck. She had to bite down on her tongue and still herself so that nobody would notice the slight trembling of her hands. Oharchons!... she was raising her blade against her lady , the very lady that gave her this sword ,the lady that she took an oath to protect with her life. Now...here she was... raising her blade against her master, going against her oath. It was just like with master callas!!. She prayed to whoever was out there to make furina surrender, she didn't want to do this! not one bit!, but she had no choice they needed to do this.
Clorinde stayed silent. Behind her, the public waited with bathed breaths for what was coming next. The personal bodyguard of the Hydro Archon had turned her blade against the person she had sworn to protect. The drama was off the scale!
Furina sighed and raised one hand. "I see... It seems like you have made up your mind."
"Paimon can't believe it... She... She just surrendered!?" the pixie shrilled into the ear of the Traveler.
The champion remained silent but was secretly glad she didn't have to bear her steel against Furina.
"What the heck is going on? Did I just see an Archon surrender to a human?"
"Wow, how utterly humiliating..."
"Lady Furina, what is the meaning of this?"
Furina let her hair shadow her eyes, taking in the reactions before a smirk came onto her face, a small chuckle escaped her drawing the attention of the prosecutors before she burst into a full blown laughter causing the enraged crowd to go silent as she continued laughing.
The hall quieted down. No one dared to speak. Even the prosecutors looked on with surprise on their face. This... wasn't what they had expected, they had expected furina to explode in anger or fiercely rebuke their accusation or even break down crying. They...didn't know what to do so they just waited for furina to finish laughing.
Furina suddenly stopped laughing catching the attention of everyone present before she looked up at the prosecution causing all of them to flinch back or in paimon's case hide herself behind lumine at the look furina was giving them. Furina was known for having great charisma always having a bright smile on her face her eyes bright with warmth and love but the look she was giving them contained nothing of that. She was looking at them with cold eyes, her heterochromatic eyes seemed to glow under the shadow of her hair. She had a smile on her face that send shivers down everyone's spine at the coldness of it.
Finally furina opened her mouth and "I choose neither !! I Refuse!!!" causing an uproar among the crowds.
"What! You can't do that!" Paimon shouts indignantly.
The crowd begins to speak amongst themselves and the people's voice grows.
"Is what they're saying true then?"
"Is that even possible? To refuse trial, I mean."
"The God of Justice refused to stand on trial. Preposterous."
Furina watches the growing chaos in amusement, then begins to laugh loudly.
The audience quiets down due to her laughter and when all is silent she speaks.
"Allow me to clear any misunderstanding. I am not refusing the trial out right. According to fontaine's laws, it states that if a trial should happen the accused should be informed at least a two days prior to the official trial giving them enough time to collect the evidences needed to prove their innocence. More than that the defendant should not be in any way deceived, pressured or coerced to appear for the trial." she declares, earning a stunned audience to silence.
" I thought that the chief justice at least knew about the basic proceedings of the court or did you choose to ignore it so that it will work towards your favour. Never knew that our dear ludex will break the laws for his own needs". she continued causing Neuvillette to flinch as the crowd began to murmur at the statement.
"I was at Poisson. Mourning the lives lost in the recent incident when a mob chased me and the prosecutor led me to hide in this false house with the intent to drag me to court. Does this not count as either coercion, pressure and or deception?" She elaborates turning her back to the audience looking at Neuvillette and the Traveler with a wicked smile on her face.
The audience speaks in agreement.
"Yeah that actually checks out"
"Add in the fact that Spina di rosula's president did admit to setting that mob lose on Lady Furina"
"Poor Lady Furina. She was at a state of grief but was then dragged to this sham trial"
Furina couldn't keep the smile that come to her face from watching her accusers squirm in place at each statement. Did they think that it would be that easy... that she would just give up just like that after all that painstaking work she put into guarding the truth...that they could win against her in a trial...against the god of justice herself. Well if they thought that they had something else coming for them. She couldn't let them go just like that now, can she? How many times had she tried to make that nosy traveller and her pet stop but Neuvillette went against her wishes and even stood against her.
Everyone in fontaine was part of her script, the very same script that she had carefully constructed for them. They didn't need to do anything but went along with, it would have prevented the prophecy...it would have prevented the incident in poisson. But no...the nosy traveller had to force herself into her stage...making the others she came across derailing from her script. That won't do, they all had to follow the script and if the traveller really wants to put her nose into it then furina would make the traveller herself one of her characters...she would force the traveller to play alongside the script even if she didn't want to. It was her fault for poking her nose where she shouldn't have.
Furina should be mad, angry, or even sad about how her closest two companions just went against her, how her dear fontaine was ready to turn their backs on her. But...she couldn't , they may have believed that everything was going according to their plan... but in the end, they all were just following the script. They were all just following what she had intended for them to do. Even then she didn't expect them to do this in front of all of fontaine, she had thought that they might just corner her and demand for an explanation. She didn't think that they were ready to humiliate and embarrass her like this.
A part of her actually wanted to confess the truth about the prophecy if only to see their reactions to it. Would they be delighted to hear the truth that they very much desired or would they spiral into horror and madness once they realise the consequences of learning the truth. But... she wouldn't sacrifice fontaine like that , she would guard it with her very own life if she had to. They will know the truth eventually but only when she feel that they should know ...until then... all they had to do was to play along to her script, let themselves be dragged into this grand masquerade she had created. Everything will end soon... the grand play that she started five centuries ago will come to an end soon and finally fontaine will be free of that wretched prophecy. But not right now everything had its own time and the time for the curtain call has not arrived yet..it will soon come...very soon.
Once she felt like it was time to deal the final blow, she raised her head and looked at the prosecution especially at the travellers and the fatui with a grin that almost split her face. The prosecution couldn't help but feel dread coiling in their guts at the look furina gave them especially lumine, paimon and the twins.
"thank you for your support my beloved citizens, alas...as i the god of justice, i will submit myself to even the most ludicrous and ridiculous trial only to please my people. But such a magnificent and historical trial such as this should be savoured and enjoyed. My dear subjects I promise you this trial will be greatest to ever happen in the history of fontaine a once in a lifetime happening for my beloved subjects to witness. But ...such an event should have its own opening act right?. As a prelude to such a grand spectacle of the Hydro Archon being tried in the Court of Justice, we shall first have another trial." She says
The audience is confused. What was their lady talking about? What Trial? Was something scheduled? They all thought.
"I, Focalor, otherwise known as Furina de Fontaine formally press charges on the Fatui, namely Lyney and Lynette, and the 4th Harbinger, the Knave, Arlecchino with attempted murder and assassination on the Hydro Archon, as well planning to steal the symbol of the Celestial Authority of said Archon - the Hydro Gnosis" she declares dramatically and pointing her gloved finger towards the magicians.
A collective gasp can be heard then the audience members explode in outrage.
"Outrageous. How dare they!!"
"Damn. I knew the Fatui were no good"
"kick them out of fontaine!!"
The audience's voice grows louder only to be silenced by Neuvillette.
"Order! Order!" Neuvillette commands the audience into silence.
Lyney and Lynette are now desperately trying to hide in their seats. Trying to hide themselves from the heated glares directed at them.
"Ah my beloved audience, i wasn't done yet. Our honoured Traveller and her partner is also a co-conspirator. They were informed of the Fatui's plan but decided not to properly inform the relevant officials. " she announces dramatically.
Another gasp escaped the audience and in that instant most of their trust towards the traveler and their companion disappeared.
"What! Hey don't drag us into this" Paimon shouts angrily.
"You wanted to meddle in the affairs of my nation! Its not as much as dragging you to get involved when you yourselves dug your own graves" She roared furiously at Paimon.
"Did. You. Know?" Neuvillette asks through gritted teeth. His glare was so heated and filled with fury. If looks could kill Paimon would be dead by now.
"Um. Well. The knave did mention something like that. Well more like admitted it to us." Paimon replies nervously.
A loud snap was heard as Neuvillette's grip actually snapped the handle of his cane due to his anger.
Paimon ducks behind lumine in fear while she tried to keep her nerves.
"Ehem!!"
furina coughed into her hand to gain the everyone's attention before speaking. " Unlike the uncivilized people that they are, I'm giving them time to mount a defence. Such is Fairness and Justice. The trial will happen on the second day from now in other words the day after tomorrow. Enough time for you to gather evidences if you wish to prove your innocence."
Another round of murmur and whispering passed through the crowd, some of them even applauding furina for her just actions for giving them time to prove their innocence even after everything the prosecution had done.
"Order! Everyone settle down!" Neuvillette commands sharply.
"Very well. Then in my capacity as chief justice we shall all reconvene here at the declared date at 8 am sharp for the trial of the Hydro Archon and the Fatui. Please vacate the Opera House in an orderly fashion." He says.
"Hold on one moment. I think you're forgetting something, my dear Iudex" Furina says sweetly.
"And what might that be, Lady Furina" Neuvillette asks.
"Don't think I don't see through your act. I know you're involved with them . You are the Iudex but you ignored the basic proceedings for the trial. I am still the Hydro Archon until proven otherwise and such I stil have authority above you. So, Chief Justice, Iudex Neuvillette. For your involvement in collaborating with the Fatui in dragging me to court in a conspiracy to usurp the Hydro Archon's Authority, you are hereby temporarily relieved of your duties." She declares.
The audience were once again stunned by this development. But couldn't refute. Their lady has just declared most of the evidence to prove her claim.
"This goes for Champion Duelist, Clorinde, too. Until the Fatui has been tried, until 'I' have been tried. You are not to hold any power to avoid any bias to all parties involved"
"And who will take my place, might I ask." Neuvillette says.
"There is only one only person capable of taking over the duties of chief justice while being just and fair to all. Duke Wriothesley of the fortress of Meropide." She declares.
"The Fortress is an independent faction in Fontaine. In the reports submitted by the duke, backed by the Traveller herself, it states that he was able to weed out any and all Fatui spies in the facility and resist coercion, bribery and intimidation. Given how even the Iudex and Champion Duelist is involved with the Fatui, the Fortress is the only one left untouched by the Fatui for Fontaine." She elaborates.
Everyone is in awe. Was this really Lady Furina? They have never seen her like this. She was never seen taking any action during trials and some of them had even questioned if lady furina even had such capabilities. But turns out they were wrong, she is quite capable with how she managed to practically shut up all the prosecutions.
"oh!, and before i forget, Clorinde you are here by fired from your position as my bodyguard. Well then, if no one objects then I shall take my leave. I have a case to prepare. Toodaloo." Furina says as she waved her hand at them. She then moves to leave the Opera house with a skip on her step.
The audience, one by one, in groups, leaves. All that was left inside the opera house was lumine, Paimon, Neuvillette, Clorinde, Navia, Lyney,and Lynette.
The group has gathered on stage to reflect and plan their next move.
"How could we let her slip like that? Paimon thought we got her cornered." Paimon says
"Indeed. It seems we underestimated Lady Furina's tenacity. We must be more prepared next time" Lyney agrees and says.
"I don't think it would be that easy." Neuvillette says calmly but with a hint of anger in his tone.
"Huh but why?" Paimon asks.
"During the entire ordeal lady furina never faltered or flinched even once. She was fully calm with no signs of distraught, and we don't posses any critical evidence to prove our claims. " neuvilette says calmly before looking at the fatui and the traveller with a glare. " And you!!...traveller paimon why weren't we informed on the assassination attempt at lady furina!" neuvilette practically roared. Most of them flinched never having seen the chief justice showing this much emotion especially rage and anger.
Paimon shrieked and retreated behind lumine, Lyney pulled his sister behind him. Lumine took a step back flinching. Clorinde stepped up and put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down especially seeing blood dripping from his hand with how tight he had clenched his fist.
"if it weren't for the fact that we already came this far, i would have left the group. The prophecy be damned !!." he took a few breaths to calm himself lest he lash out and let all of fontaine feel his anger. he composed himself before continuing . " i will see if there is anything that can help our situation, feel free to contact me if you need anything". With that Neuvillette turned to leave with Clorinde right behind him acting same as ever but everyone could see the slight drop of her shoulders and the light dragging of her heels.
The remaining group dispersed with navia leaving first after giving a disappointing look towards her partner. The twins along with the traveller and paimon decided to leave together to find a way to get out of their predicament.
Furina finally reached her room in the Palais Mermonia. She closed the doors behind her before placing her palm on the wall close to the door. Under her palm a rectangular array with runes etched on them glowed, glowing lines spread from the array to her entire room. The entire room lit up for a second before dimming. She sighed before plopping down on the couch in her room.
She just laid down for a second, before looking towards the ceiling, admiring the intricate and delicate decorations. She wasn't bothered in the slightest about the trial, she had already prepared most of it with only a few letters to send and some places to visit. She didn't need to think much about it since everything had gone according to what she had predicted..even the trial itself was her ploy. She felt bad about doing this to them but, in the end they did choose to side against her.
She let out another sigh before righting herself, crossing her legs and looking toward a specific corner in her room.
"come out, i have already rested enough." Furina stated calmly voice loud enough to be heard across the room. Slowly three figures materialised from the shadows in the corner. They moved towards her before kneeling in front of her, heads bowed down.
"we greet our master, lady furina" all of them intoned at the same time causing furina to smile them for a moment. The smile vanished before replaced with a serious demeanour
"now let me hear your reports" furina commanded.
This is a naruto crossover. considering that we are starting in fontaine you already know the main pairing. it will be a small harem.
this furina is different and much more confident. her entire origin will be different from the canon.
and there will be much more canon divergence.
remember this is an AU. so it will follow my own theories about how the fontaine quest could have gone
