Prada Fendi

District 1 Male

20 HG

The District Academy of Excellence had gotten off to a rocky start.

One had come so close with Corvus Euclase, but quickly became the laughingstock of Panem after he dropped dead from a fruit salad.

District One had yet to come that close again. The promise of strong, beautiful, and loyal victors had begun to slip through the Capitol's fingers, and they were taking notice.

The people at the DAE were given an ultimatum. Produce a victor or be shut down.

Prada Fendi was gorgeous, deadly, and loyal to a fault. Unfortunately, that loyalty extended less to the Capitol and more to his family. Loyalty to the Capitol above all was the most important quality in a tribute, which is why they hadn't sent him before, despite being the best fighter they had seen since the DAE's founding.

But these were desperate times, and Prada was the desperate measure, so he was given the green light to volunteer.

The people of One had hoped that Prada would fight his way to victory, saving the DAE, the children that trained there, and future generations of children who faced the Reaping unprepared.

That hope was dashed when Prada's little sister Luxottica was reaped, and the chosen volunteer failed to show.

Prada was loyal to his family above the Capitol, and the people fully expected him to sacrifice himself for her only for her to die in the end.

They watched helplessly as Prada cried for his sister during the interviews, wishing it could have been anyone but her.

They watched with horror as he found her in the bloodbath and drew his sword, as if ready to protect her with his life.

They watched with shock as he slit her throat.

Prada Fendi knew what was on the line. He hated what he had to do, but with his would-be-district partner a coward, he had no other choice. He had to win, or else the DAE would be shuttered, and every trainee there killed to prevent future volunteers.

Luxottica would be a distraction. The sooner she was out of the arena, the easier it would be.

And easier it was.

Prada hated what he had to do but accepted that sacrifices had to be made.

One life to save thousands.

District One celebrated him, but his family…

Instead of the savior of the DAE, they saw a monster who killed his sister in cold blood.

They would never forgive Prada, just like Prada would never forgive himself.

"I had already planned to volunteer. I wanted to bring honor and glory to my districts. I…just wasn't prepared for the price tag that glory had."

vi. Sacrifice

Well, that was absolutely soul crushing to write. We'll see Prada again in Survivors 20, but yeah, oof.
