Cedar Warwick and Belladonna Harper

District 7 Male and District 11 Female

66 HG

Cedar was in hell. Belladonna was in heaven.

Cedar Warwick didn't ask to be in the Careers. He didn't want to betray his allies. He cared about Decida, Giemci, and Link, but when Bronze leveled an arrow at his head, he decided he liked living more. He hated it, but not as much as he hated himself.

When Belladonna Harper was invited to the Careers, she could have jumped for joy. Bloodshed and violence was something she lived for, and with the Careers, she'd get more chances at that slaughter that always made her heart flutter.

For Cedar, every face in the sky was a reminder of his cowardice. The first set of faces reminded him that he should have been there. The subsequent faces were merely people who he outlived due to his cowardice.

For Belladonna, every face in the sky was a triumph. She cheered when she saw the little brat from Five and hated that none of the other faces were for her. She craved that violence that got her to the Games. The subsequent faces were merely kills that had been stolen from her.

Cedar saw each of the fallen tributes in the sky as the days went by. When Decida's face shone in the stars, he wondered what he could have done to stop it.

Belladonna saw her own district partner and wanted to tear her hair out. She could have sliced him up for longer but that bitch Gloriana stole it from her. She was sick and tired of getting her kills stolen.

When Cedar found Giemci in the woods, having been swept away by a flood, he thought he finally had an out…until Giemci told him about the upcoming attack. Cedar hated being in the Careers, but even he could admit Bronze had been nothing but kind to him after the fact and thus repaid that kindness.

When Belladonna heard about the plan, she was excited. She wanted more blood on her hands. More faces in the sky. More fallen tributes. She was furious when neither of the faces in the sky after the feast were by her hand.

Cedar didn't see his demise coming. He heard the sound of branches snapping, the sound of an arrow firing, and then he never heard again. He didn't hear Bronze scream in rage and grief. He would have found it somewhat comforting that he gained a friend throughout this whole ordeal, just like he drew comfort from the fact that he somehow managed to keep his hands clean.

His face was in the sky alongside the boy from Six. Belladonna wanted to be happy, but seeing Bronze's face, thought better of it. She wasn't quite satisfied with killing Six, but it would have to do.

Belladonna didn't see her demise coming either, but she should have. She was dizzy from the river water seeping into her bloodstream, coughing up blood from the gaping wound in her stomach, and desperate to draw blood one more time.

Bronze's arrow pierced her back. She didn't have time to feel the betrayal before she too joined the fallen.

ix. the fallen

I decided to do a duality themed chapter for the Fallen and starred our two outliers in the Careers (the ones that survived the bloodbath anyway, RIP Atticus.) They both have different thoughts on the Fallen tributes and on the Games in general. They were both very different people who met similar ends.
