It never ceased to amaze is friends how quickly Andre could fall in love. Like right now, as he gazed at the beautiful redhead sitting across the stage from him, her blue eyes locked on his. Sometimes, that's all it took, just meeting her gaze, and he knew he was hooked.
Dre wasn't the type to miss out on an opportunity either. With as nonchalant a series of movements as he could muster, he rose from his place and walked across to where the dancers were gathered. Placing as much base as he could in his vice, he greeted her. "Hey there."
"Hay." The girl smiled, glancing down, just a moment, letting him know she was interested too.
"So, you a dancer?" He inquired.
"Yea…" She didn't blush, even though she looked ready to. "I love to dance. It's just such a freeing feeling, letting my body move to the flow of the music…." A moment passed as the redhead came back to the room, eyes now focused on the boy standing above her. "You?"
"I'm a musician." He informed her. "I helped write the music for this play." He bragged, leaving out how he was also a dancer, an actor, and when necessary a writer. He had no interest in being more then the band leader for this production. Sikowitz wasn't involved, just a name that got this play on the city's summer play listing. "Gonna be the band leader for this production. You know, cause I'm that good."
"Really?' She seemed excited, even as she continued to stretch. Dre was so busy measuring her toned legs he missed how long they really were, or her body, or the fact that some girls liked looking up at their boyfriends. The girl was tall, maybe five foot eight, and that only gave the musician an inch on her, limiting her to the shortest of heels. Despite that, she remained interested, staying on the ground for now to give him the advantage. "I just hope… The director, I've heard stories…" She looked to the side. "I CAN act, sometimes, but I'm a dancer, and I just wanna be a background player for now. Let one of those stuck up kids from Hollywood Arts….." Her eyes widened at the subtle look on the boys face. "I mean, one of those more professional then me carry the story. Let me just get lost in the music, the dance, and I'll be fine."
"You been in much?" Andre pushed past the awkward moment. Girl was pretty, athletic and busty and everything a boy might want in a girlfriend. "Or is this your first audition."
He already knew the answer, just from the way she was prepping. Girl may not have had any professional credits, but she'd been to her share of auditions. "I've been in a few things."
"I'm Andre, by the way." He introduced himself, offering her his hand.
"Shelby." The girl replied, taking his hand for a moment, but staying down least he decide she was too much, in her heels that made her ass look so good, cause no one gets to dance in flats. Not girls.
"Maybe, if you give me your number, I can talk to you after?" The boy pushed, smiling his best smile.
"Sure." Shelby agreed, standing to go to her things and gather a piece of paper to write on. For that brief moment, she was taller then he was, and the illusion was broken. Then, she wrote her number on the paper, giving it to him with a sigh. "Call me."
"You can count on that." Dre said, drifting back to is spot, ready to start the music for this audition. He wasn't the type to be put off by how tall a girl was either. Boy was secure, at least in that one way.
Shelby watched him drift away, entranced for that moment. "He really is good at the pickup line." A voice said from beside her, and the girl jumped. Turning quickly, she saw a short girl with the most ridiculous velvet red hair standing next to her. She'd been so entranced by the new boy she hadn't heard the girl walking up. "Guessing I know why he always has new girlfriends."
"Who…?" Shelby tried.
"I'm Cat." The short girl introduced herself. "Technically I'm Catarina, but everyone just calls me Cat, so I use it. I do think Cats are so cute, but I'm actually more like a puppy, in that I'm a hella loyal friend, which makes what I'm about to do seem odd."
"Huh?" Shelby was catching up. "Um, you one of his ex's?"
"Dre? No, we've never dated." Cat said, smiling, even as she bounced on her feet, showing loads of energy. "But he is a friend of mine, and we're always noticing how he has these new girlfriends. I love seeing my friends happy too, so I hate doing this, but my bestest friend in the whole world said she didn't need him, how'd she say it…?" The perky girl hesitated for a moment to think. "Whatever, she said she doesn't need him disappearing half the chorus line, so I've been sent to warn you."
"Disappearing?" Shelby wasn't feeling to good about his discussion.
"It's just, the girls he dates, we really don't see them too much after they break up." Cat explained. "I mean, I see Sherry from time to time, but she doesn't really interact with us, and given there's like maybe two hundred in out class, I'd expect to see more of her. But after he breaks it off with some chick, or girl, cause he doesn't date birds, they just don't come around that often." She glanced to the side. "I could say the same for most of the people we date, which is probably why I don't date Robbie. I'd hate to lose him as a friend, and our ex's do tend to disappear. I can find them, saw Rider the other day, but…" She looked for a moment like she had more to say, but just stopped.
"I actually feel better now." Shelby admitted, having weathered the explanation. "You don't want him dating girls, then having them quit the production. Okay, not gonna do that. I can be professional, work with him."
"Good, cause my friend, Jade, she…" Cat started, only to be stopped.
"Jade, as in West?" Shelby interrupted.
"Only in that's her last name, but yea." Cat agreed.
"As in scary, but has a professional play, well reviewed and everything, under her belt?" The redhead pushed.
"That's the one." Cat confirmed. "I was in that play, the professional one, and I'm in this one. Not sure why, cause I think Jade should have played the lead herself, given whats she's trying to do here. Only, she's insisting I play the lead, and she'll direct. Claims it's easier hiding the bodies if she doesn't have to act too." Cat smiled a moment. "Not sure what she meant by that…"
"Maybe I won't call him." The girl said.
"Why not?" Cat asked. "Dre's a good person, just flighty. Find a way to be his girlfriend for the whole summer, and I think they might give you a prize. At least a trophy. I mean, if you last that long, you certainly deserve one." The petite girl bounced again. "I gotta go find my costar and practice kissing. It's my first time kissing a girl since Jade used me to figure out how to be a good snogger, which I'm told it like kissing, but British. Anyways, think on that, and good luck…" With that, Cat was gone, and Sherry was left pondering the merits of this potential summer romance.
