two weeks later*
Quinn woke up in Santana's bed like she has done almost every Saturday for the past few months. They were warmly cuddled under the brunette's black silk comforter, legs tangled with each other and Santana's arms securely around Quinn. The blonde always woke up before her but pretended to sleep so that she could stay in her arms a little while longer. She liked to hear the sound of the other girls breathing and feeling her chest rise and fall against her.
It was 8 am and after a couple minutes of laying there Quinn gently untangled herself from the sleeping girl causing her to stir but she just rolled over and continued to sleep. She threw on one of Santana's oversized band tees and some sweatpants that had been hastily discarded the night before. Quinn always felt guilty sneaking out before the girl woke up but she felt like she had to according to their "casual" arrangement. Before exiting the room she watched the brunette sleep, not in a creepy way, just admiring how beautiful and serene she looked even with her messy bed head. She placed a light kiss on the girl's forehead and seeing how the girl smiled in her sleep made her heart flutter. Quinn felt somewhere deep down Santana felt the same way for her and it gave her hope that one day their relationship would be more. The blonde covered the girl's naked top half with the comforter and then grabbed her backpack and left the dark room quietly turning the door knob so that it wouldn't make noise as she closed it.
She made her way down the stairs slowly hoping to not wake Santana's parents in the process of leaving the house. She had made it downstairs and was about to leave through the front door when she heard Maribel call her name. The kitchen doorway gave a clear view of the door, she was up early making coffee.
"Quinn?"
The blonde turned around with a shy smile. she had really hoped she could just leave like she usually does. Mostly to avoid awkward conversation and questions she didn't have answers to.
"Hi, Mrs.Lopez." she said bashfully. She saw the woman smile knowingly recognizing the shirt she was wearing.
"You have somewhere to be honey? Why don't you stay for breakfast? I'm making bacon." Santana's mother knew her well from all the previous sleepovers over the years. Quinn dropped her book bag by the door and walked into the kitchen. She could never resist her favorite food. The blonde wordlessly sat on a stool at the island.
"Would you like some coffee?" The older woman placed a coffee mug and a bottle of creamer in front of the girl before she even responded. Quinn gladly took it, pouring a bit of creamer in and then sipping on the warm beverage. She watched Santana's mother scramble around the kitchen retrieving ingredients from the fridge. She felt comfortable just sitting there, much more comfortable than she would at her own house. Maribel had a warm energy that surrounded her, one thing Santana inherited from her. They made casual conversation about school and the glee club and Quinn happily filled her in, grateful that she didn't ask any questions about her and her daughter. When the woman was done cooking she gave Quinn a plate of scrambled eggs and bacon. She served herself and then made two more plates for when her daughter and husband woke up. When she finished she sat next to the blonde at the island with her own breakfast. "I swear Santana and her father could sleep through a tornado" That made Quinn chuckle a little.
"What's so funny?" Santana entered the room rubbing her eyes at the brightly light coming in through the glass sliding back doors. She was dressed in boxer looking shorts and a band tee very similar to the one the blonde was wearing, her hair still very messy but to Quinn this was the hottest she had ever seen the latina. She couldn't help but stare as she walked over to grab one of the plates on the counter. "What, is there something on my face?" Shit. she caught her staring.
"Just a little drool" she teased trying to play it off and dug back into her bacon. she felt her face flush and tried her best to just look down at her food until it went away.
"Mija, did you tell Quinn where we're going next month?" Maribel asked her daughter before taking a sip of her coffee.
"Oh no, I forgot." The younger latina responded nonchalantly. She stood across from Quinn at the island and started on her own plate of food. She heard her mom clear her throat and she looked up. "We're going to the house in Long beach during summer break."
"It's gonna be a nice break from the weather here in Ohio. I was wondering if you would like to come along with us?" The older woman said to the blonde. "You could keep my baby some company."
Quinn gave her a thankful smile and then looked over at Santana. Who was looking at her waiting for her to give an answer. "I- I would have to ask my mom if it's alright with her" she said looking back at Maribel.
"Of course sweetie, you let us know what she says. If she needs to talk to me about it, tell her to just give me a call." she winked and then got up to clear her plate and left it in the sink. "Now I'm going to go wake up your papi before his food gets cold" Santana's mom took the plate of food and a fork with her as she left the kitchen leaving the two girls alone.
"Sorry about her," Santana broke the awkward silence. "You don't have to go if you don't want to."
"Do you want me to go?" Quinn asked the girl in front of her.
"I mean, yeah it would be cool." The brunette said and then shoved a piece of bacon into her mouth.
"Ok." Quinn was trying to match how nonchalant the latina was being but it actually made her really happy. They continued to eat their breakfast in silence and when they were done Santana cleared their dishes.
"I'm kinda surprised you're still here" Again the latina broke the silence.
"Um yeah, your mom caught me on my way out." Quinn explained.
"Let me guess she bribed you with bacon," Santana smirked. Quinn simply nodded.
"Well I actually have to get going, I have a lot of homework to do." Quinn lied, she always did her homework during class but right now she couldn't think straight by the way Santana was looking at her. She needed to get out of there before she took the girl right there on the counter. She slipped out of her seat and headed to the front door with Santana following behind her. She grabbed her bag and slung it over one shoulder before opening the door.
"Let me give you a ride," Santana offered.
"It's ok, San. Thanks." She only lived a few houses down, it wouldn't be more than a couple minutes walking. The blonde stepped outside and the brunette still followed. She grabbed Quinn's waist and turned her around to face her. She pressed a soft kiss onto her lips and held her close.
"Let me know what your mom says ok?" Santana was only an inch away from her face.
Still dazed, Quinn nodded. "Yeah, I will. Bye-bye." She reluctantly detached herself from the warm arms that were holding her and started her way home. Her pace was faster than usual but her mind was running 100 miles a minute.
This is casual?
