This chapter is a bit longer than usual, but I knew where I wanted to end it and I had to write all these details into the chapter, so I present to you, Chapter 3, The First Kiss.

Olivia strolled through the last bit of Central Park with Trevor, hand in hand. This felt good, it felt natural. As they exited the park heading for her apartment she looked up at him and smiled. "I know this sounds redundant because I've been saying it so much, but I had a really good time, just walking with you."

Trevor smiled back at her. "I did too. And your hand fits so perfectly in mine."

Olivia blushed as the two took the elevator up to her apartment, when they reached the door, Trevor unlocked it for her and handed her back her key. Olivia smiled. "Thank you," she whispered.

Trevor got close to her face. "Don't mention it." He kissed her cheek and she closed her eyes. "Goodnight, beautiful."

Olivia opened her eyes and searched his, feeling slightly dejected. She didn't understand why he wouldn't kiss her lips. But she said nothing. Not yet. "Goodnight," she said softly and entered her apartment. She closed the door behind her and thanked Martha for coming over for an hour and a half while she went on a walk with Trevor. The sun was setting, so she could still be the one to put Noah to bed. After Martha left she closed and locked the door and sighed, walking to Noah's bedroom and knocking.

Noah looked up from his book. "Come in!"

Olivia opened the door walked in and sat on his bed. "Hello, sweet boy. How was your evening? Did Martha feed you?"

Noah nodded. "It was good, Martha made tacos." He said gently. "She put a couple in the oven for you."

Olivia smiled. "Okay," she kissed his forehead. "You want to come keep me company while I eat?"

Noah nodded and dog eared the page he was on and closed his book, setting it on his nightstand. They walked to the kitchen and Olivia checked the oven and sure enough, there were two tacos on a plate there for her, still warm. She got some of the toppings out of the fridge and assembled her tacos. Noah looked at her. "Mom?"

Olivia smiled at him. "Yes, my love?"

Noah looked at his hands and then back at her. "Who have you been going out with?"

Olivia knew she would have to tell him eventually. Thankfully she had told him he was adopted, just nothing about his birth father. Not yet. "I've been seeing a lawyer named Trevor. He's the one who helped me in my journey to adopt you. You probably don't remember him, you were so little."

Noah nodded. "Do you like him?"

Olivia finished her bite of the taco she had taken before Noah started speaking. "I do. I like him a lot."

Noah tilted his head. "Does he like you?"

Olivia smiled. "I hope so." She felt her phone vibrate and checked it, seeing it was from Trevor.

Thank you for another wonderful night. When can I see you again?

Olivia bit her bottom lip and typed out a response.

I can be free any night this week.

Trevor smiled at his phone.

How about we go see a movie on Wednesday? Then maybe we could go stargazing on your roof on Saturday?

Olivia took a deep breath. She was hoping to get a kiss out of the movie date. She jumped at the chance.

Movies on Wednesday and stargazing on Saturday sound good. I can't wait.

Trevor felt his heart race. He so desperately wanted to kiss Olivia but he wanted it to be perfect. The setting, the kiss itself, the buildup. He didn't want to mess this up.

See you Wednesday, beautiful.

Olivia read the text and then put her phone down, finishing her tacos and putting her plate in the sink. "Okay, sweet boy, I'm going to take a shower and get changed, why don't you go read some more and I'll be in to say goodnight once I'm all set?"

Noah nodded. "Okay!" He walked into his bedroom to read some more of his book.

Olivia grabbed her phone and walked into her bathroom. She started the shower and undressed. Once the water was warmed up, she stepped into the shower. She washed and conditioned her hair and washed her body before stepping out of the shower. She was dressed in sleep shorts and an oversized tee.

Once she was dressed she brushed her hair and teeth and then walked back to Noah's room. "Okay sweetheart time for bed," she said gently, sitting on his bed. She saw him save his spot in the book and put it on his nightstand.

Noah laid down under his blankets and rolled on his side.

Olivia leaned in and kissed his forehead. "Goodnight, Noah. I love you."

Noah smiled. "Love you too, Mom."

Olivia got up and turned out the lights and then walked out of his room and back to hers, hearing her phone ringing. She saw it was Trevor and she smiled. "Hey," she answered with a smile.

Trevor smiled. "Hey, sorry to call late, I just wanted to hear your voice before going to bed for the night."

Olivia bit her bottom lip and walked to her bed. "It's nice to hear your voice before turning in for the night."

Trevor lay down. "Yours, too."

Olivia put him on speaker for a hot second as she climbed under the covers, laying back with her arm behind her head, taking him off speaker. "This is nice, checking in at bedtime." She said softly. She wanted to ask him about why he only kissed her cheek, but she decided against it.

Trevor hummed. "It is nice. I like hearing your voice before bed."

Olivia giggled a little bit. "Me too." She said and closed her eyes. "So what did you do when you got home?"

Trevor smiled. "Picked at something for dinner, showered, got in bed, and turned on the TV. You?"

Olivia smiled. "Sent Martha home, checked on Noah, ate the tacos Martha made me for dinner, took a shower, put Noah to bed and now I'm talking to you."

Trevor nearly groaned when she mentioned a shower. The thought of her naked and wet made him crazy. But he bit it back. "Busy night."

Olivia nodded. "The life of a single mother. Never a dull moment. At least until Noah's in bed."

Trevor thought to himself that he would change that fact about her, with him around, if she wanted, she wouldn't be a single mom anymore. "I can't even imagine."

Olivia played with a string on her blanket. "Noah asked about you tonight, not by name, but he asked who I've been going out with."

Trevor smiled to himself. "How'd he take it?"

Olivia let out a soft chuckle. He asked if I liked you, he asked if you like me."

Trevor nodded. "What did you say?"

Olivia smiled. "I told him that I liked you a lot and that I'd hoped you felt the same."

Trevor took the phone away from his ear and looked at it as if he was looking at her. "Of course, I feel the same way. "

Olivia felt butterflies rise in her stomach. "Good, I'll amend my answer in the morning for Noah."

Trevor chuckled. "Okay. Well, I should let you get your rest. You have a big job to get to in the morning."

Olivia gave a little smile. "Yeah, I do. It was nice talking to you tonight and walking with you this evening. I can't wait for the movies on Wednesday."

Trevor smiled. "I'll see your bright smiling face then. Goodnight beautiful."

Olivia's voice had softened. "Goodnight."

The days passed, and they dragged on for what felt like forever. Finally, Wednesday arrived. Olivia arranged it so she wasn't on call that night and left early. She arrived home kissed Noah hello and asked Martha to stay until her date was over, it had already been arranged but she just wanted to double-check. Once that was done she quickly hopped in the shower, washing her hair and body and shaving her legs.

Olivia got out of the shower and put on a pair of jeans and a blouse that showed off her cleavage. She slipped into a pair of heels and moved on to blow drying curling her hair and doing her makeup. Once she finished she looked at herself in the mirror and let out a breath. "He likes you," she whispered to herself.

She grabbed a purse that went with her outfit and put a few miscellaneous items in it, her lipstick, her wallet, a travel-size hairspray, some mints, and an emergency battery charger. She slung the purse over her shoulder and walked out into the living room. "So, how do I look?" She spun in a circle.

Noah smiled. "You look really pretty mom!"

Olivia smiled. "Thank you, sweet boy."

Martha walked over to her. "Breathtaking Miss Olivia."

Olivia put her hands over her heart. "Thank you, Martha." She heard the doorbell and she turned to look. She walked over to the door and took a deep breath. "He likes you," she whispered and opened the door with a bright smile on her face. "Trevor." She hugged him.

Trevor handed her another bouquet. "These are almost as pretty as you are today."

Olivia opened the door and invited him in. "These are beautiful." She grinned and kissed his cheek. "Thank you." She walked to put them in a vase, next to the other flowers he had gotten her just a few days before. "Noah, sweetie, this," she said walking back over to Trevor. "Is Trevor. You probably don't remember him, you were only one or two when he was your legal representative."

Noah looked up at his mother and Trevor. "I had a lawyer?"

Olivia smiled. "Not quite, Trevor was just looking out for your best interest legally, and because of him I was able to adopt you." She sat next to him on the couch. "Okay, Trevor and I are going to go out for a little bit but I'll be home later, okay?"

Noah nodded. "Okay, have fun." He hugged his mother and shook Trevor's hand.

Trevor smiled and he and Olivia headed out. "He's a great kid." He said once they got in the elevator.

Olivia smiled, "He is. We had a few rough patches when he was younger but he is such a wonderful kid. I love him so much."

Trevor smiled. "Being a mom looks good on you."

Olivia blushed. "Thank you. What are we going to see?"

Trevor placed a hand on her lower back as he hailed a taxi. "Dear Evan Hansen, it looks good, and I'm a sucker for a good musical. Is that okay?"

Olivia looked up at him in awe. "Yeah, yeah that's perfect."

They took a taxi to the movie theater made sure they got refreshments and sat down in time for previews.

Olivia dipped a piece of popcorn into the side of nacho cheese she got and she smiled. "This is so good."

Trevor looked at her. "I've never heard of anyone doing it before."

Olivia smiled. "Because most people never think of it. I started doing this as a teenager, it's just so good. Want to try?"

Trevor took a piece of popcorn and dipped it in the cheese. He popped it in his mouth and smiled. "Oh, that is good."

Olivia smiled. "Stick with me, I know all the tricks." She turned her head and caught a glimpse of his eyes in the light from the screen. She silently gasped and moved in a little closer out of instinct. He kissed her cheek and winked at her. Olivia all but deflated. He had to kiss her eventually. It was driving her crazy.

Trevor sat back and watched the movie. Eventually, Olivia's head rested on his shoulder and he smiled. He turned and kissed her forehead. The two of them watched the movie in comfortable silence, only broken by Olivia's sniffles as she cried at points. Trevor wrapped an arm around her and pulled her in close. "It's okay," he whispered. "I'm right here."

Once the movie was over and the lights came up Olivia moved her head and wiped her eyes. "Thankfully I wore waterproof eyeliner and mascara."

They made their way out of the theater and onto the street where Trevor hailed a cab. "Want to stop for gelato?"

Olivia smiled. "As great as that sounds I'm a little chilly, maybe we should head back to my place. Nightcap?"

Trevor looked at her once they were in the cab. "Don't you think it's still a little too early for that?"

Olivia furrowed her brow. "Trev it's 9:30."

Trevor chuckled a bit. "I mean, it's the third date, aren't we taking this slow?"

Olivia let out a soft sigh. "You're right."

Trevor looked at her. "But I'll see you again on Saturday night. And then it'll be just us on your roof looking at the stars and the moon."

Olivia smiled gently. "That'll be nice. And besides we still have to talk about a few things. I just… I'm so attracted to you, my body took over and my brain fell to the wayside."

Trevor stroked her cheek. "No need to explain. Liv I'd love nothing more than that, but I want to take my time with you, I don't want you to think that's all I'm interested in."

Olivia's smile grew slightly. This was what it meant to be respected, and cherished. "I appreciate that." For the first time, she's realizing what it is to truly have someone cherish her and respect her, instead of just wanting in her pants.

When they pulled up to her apartment building Trevor walked her up to her apartment and unlocked the door for her. He handed her back her key and she smiled, leaning in and kissing his cheek. Trevor smiled. "Tonight was wonderful."

Olivia took his hands and held them. "Thank you for another beautiful night, Trevor."

Trevor kissed her knuckles. "It's hard to not have a beautiful night when you have a date as beautiful as you."

Olivia looked at him. "I warned you, Counselor. Flattery will get you everywhere. Now kiss me goodnight before I throw caution to the wind and pull you inside."

Trevor laughed. "Okay, okay," he leaned in and kissed her cheek, caressing her face. "Goodnight, Liv."

Olivia smiled and walked into her apartment. As badly as she wanted him to kiss her lips, she knew now that he wasn't kissing her cheek because he wanted to just be friends. It was out of respect. She saw Martha and smiled. "Thank you for staying with Noah," she paid the woman. "We'll see you Saturday, we're not going out out, just up to the roof to stargaze, but I'd feel more comfortable having someone here with Noah."

Martha smiled. "Of course Miss Olivia. No problem."

Olivia saw her out and locked the door behind her. She walked into Noah's room to check on him and kissed his forehead. "Goodnight my sweet boy." She walked out of his room and into her own. She kicked off her heels got out some pajamas and walked into the bathroom. She threw her hair up in a ponytail, washed her face, and brushed her teeth. She changed into the pajamas and climbed into bed. She was scrolling through her phone when a call from Trevor came through. "Hey, I was just thinking about you."

Trevor smiled. "Oh yeah, what about?"

Olivia was a little shy about it. "About what it'd be like to sleep with you."

Trevor smirked. "You have a dirty mind, Olivia Benson."

Olivia chuckled. "Not like that Trevor! I mean actually sleep with you. My head on your chest as I drift off into a peaceful sleep."

Trevor smirked. "Uh huh, nice cover."

Olivia blushed. "Don't get me wrong I've that about that, too. But not what I was thinking about tonight. Hey listen, for Saturday I'll make us a charcuterie board and bring some wine and blankets up so we can be all romantic."

Trevor smiled. "That sounds perfect. We can cuddle under the stars. It's supposed to be a full moon."

Olivia smiled. "I know, it's gonna be rather romantic."

Trevor's smile grew. "I can't wait to see you by moonlight."

Olivia blushed harder. "It's going to be a perfect night."

Trevor nodded. "It will be." He closed his eyes. "I'll let you get some rest. You must be exhausted."

Olivia hadn't felt it until he mentioned it, but she was in fact exhausted. "Now that you mention it," she smiled. "Saturday can't come soon enough."

Trevor gave a soft smile as if she could see him on a voice call. "No, it can't." He rubbed his face. "Get some sleep, beautiful, and we'll be closer to Saturday when you wake up."

Olivia closed her eyes. "Mm, goodnight Trev." They hung up and both drifted off to sleep.

The next few days passed slowly. Olivia made sure she had the weekend off to spend with Noah and to stargaze with Trevor. Olivia had been watching the weather and the forecast for Saturday was supposed to be clear skies and not too chilly. Olivia brought the blankets and wine up around five and she made the charcuterie board. She made Noah dinner and served him and stood in the kitchen as he ate at the breakfast nook. Martha got there shortly after and then Olivia let her hair down, styling it in her bathroom mirror. She didn't bother getting all dressed up, as Trevor told her to dress comfortably, so she stayed in her leggings and t-shirt. She heard a knock at the door and padded over to it and looked in the peephole. She opened the door with a grin. "Trev!"

Trevor smiled and handed her a bouquet. "For you, beautiful."

Olivia smiled and let him in as she put the flowers in a vase. "My apartment is starting to look like a mini botanical garden." She chuckled. "Not that I mind. I love flowers, and Noah's asthma seems to be doing well with them."

Trevor grinned and walked over to her. "You ready to head up? Almost time for sunset."

Olivia smiled and looked at Noah and Martha. Noah nodded. "I'm ready," she said, grabbing the charcuterie board. "Let's go."

The two of them rode up to the roof together and walked over to the little "love nest" Olivia had created out of pillows and blankets on the roof, with a couple more blankets to cover themselves with. Trevor sat and held the charcuterie board and Olivia's hand as she sat across from him. They put the board in between them and Trevor smiled. "The sunset is almost as beautiful as you are."

Olivia blushed. "Thank you," she whispered and took his hand. "This is nice," she said gently.

Trevor caressed her face. "It'll be even nicer once the sun is down and the stars and moon are visible."

Olivia smiled and nuzzled into his hand. "Mm." They started picking off the charcuterie board and feeding each other. Olivia opened the bottle of wine and poured them each a glass. "To us, and a beautiful night."

Trevor clinked glasses with her and they each took a sip. "Wow, that wine is good."

Olivia smiled. "It's a vintage Port. Aged 15 years in the bottle."

Trevor smiled. "You're like a wine connoisseur, huh?"

Olivia chuckled. "I like my wine, and I like drinking it the way it's meant to be enjoyed. I got this bottle after closing a big case and this year is the first year I could open it to enjoy. The fact that I'm enjoying it with you… well, that just makes it all the better."

Trevor smiled. "You're beautiful," he whispered as he pushed a tendril of jar behind her ear."

Olivia took a sip of her wine. "Please, I must look like a schlub. Leggings and a t-shirt, barely any makeup, my hair's probably a mess."

Trevor shook his head. "You look relaxed and at ease. You don't need makeup, and your hair, as always, is beautiful."

Olivia smiled. "Thank you," she said gently. Once it started to get dark, Olivia maneuvered herself to sit next to Trevor. As rested her head on his shoulder and smiled. This was perfect.

As the moon shone in the sky he looked over at Olivia and kissed her forehead. "Just like I thought. You're breathtaking by moonlight."

Olivia smiled and looked into his eyes. "Trevor," she whispered.

Trevor looked into her eyes and smiled. "Yes, beautiful."

Olivia put their wine glasses down and turned back to him. "Kiss me." She said simply. "On the lips."

Trevor looked at her. "Liv—"

Olivia put her hand up. "This is our fourth date, and while I understand why you haven't kissed my lips yet, it's driving me insane, in the best way, but insane nonetheless."

Trevor caressed her face. "I just want it to be perfect."

Olivia smiled and turned her face to kiss his palm. "Oh Trevor, if this… us… is meant to be, it'll be perfect because it's you, and it's me. And every kiss will be perfect because it's us. Trevor, we could kiss behind a dumpster and it would be perfect."

Trevor smiled and caressed her face, pushing her hair out of her face. He leaned in close, looking into her eyes until both their eyes fluttered closed. He placed a feather-light kiss on her lips. He pulled away after a few moments.

Olivia kept her eyes closed for a moment. "Mm." Her eyes opened to meet his. "That was nice." She ran her hands down his chest. "You should do that again."

Trevor smiled a big goofy smile leaned in and captured her lips in a more passionate kiss. He pulled Olivia into his lap, straddling him.

Olivia pushed him down so he was lying down, she laid on top of him, still straddling him, as they kissed. When air became necessary they broke the kiss and looked into one another's eyes. "Oh Trevor," she whispered.

Trevor smiled. "That was…"

Olivia cut him off with a smile. "Perfect?" She saw him nod. "Told you." She climbed off him and wrapped herself in a blanket. "So worth the wait," she whispered.

Trevor smiled and sat up next to her. "Now what?"

Olivia chuckled. "I suppose we should talk. There are some things you need to know before we have sex, and now that we're kissing on the lips. It's only a matter of time before we wind up naked in bed together."

Trevor nodded. "You're right," he said softly. "So what do I need to know?"
