Thanks for being patient with me, the heat in NJ has been awful and I can't seem to do much, even writing, when it's this hot out.
Olivia and Trevor were dressed in comfortable clothes and sitting on the couch, Olivia was next to Trevor with her legs over his lap, her head resting on his shoulder. She closed her eyes and smiled. "Mm, this is nice."
Trevor stroked her hair and rested his other hand over her thighs. "It's very nice. It feels normal, natural."
Olivia nuzzled into his neck. "I like cuddling with you."
Trevor turned his head and kissed the top of her head. "I like it, too," he whispered and wrapped his arms around her torso.
Olivia smiled and lifted her head to look into his eyes. "I… I'm really happy."
Trevor smiled. "That's not what you were gonna say."
Olivia sighed. "Don't push it, Trevor," she said gently, resting her head back against his shoulder.
Trevor rubbed her arm. "What do you have against saying it?"
Olivia closed her eyes. "I'm just not ready," she said softly. "And historically that's been the beginning of the end."
Trevor took her hand in his. "It won't be for us," he said softly.
Olivia lifted her head and looked into his eyes again. "Cassidy told me he loved me and then let me walk away! Burton told me he loved me then he walked! Tucker never said it. That word and I don't have the best track record, Trevor."
Trevor caressed her face. "Hey, it's not the word, it's not the feeling that doesn't have a great track record with you. It's those men."
Olivia let her head fall back. "I have even less of a stellar track record with men, Trevor. My mother said it and it's true. Everyone leaves. I just don't know that I can handle another heartache."
Trevor lifted her head to look into her eyes. "I'm not going anywhere. I promise. But you need to give me a chance to show you."
Olivia felt a tear slide down her cheek. She sniffled and let out a breath. "I'm just not ready to say those three words yet. You have to give me a chance to be ready."
Trevor wiped the tear from her cheek with his thumb and he nodded. "I'll wait forever for you, Olivia Margaret."
Olivia smiled and kissed him softly. Olivia heard a knock at the door and she pulled away and stood up to answer the door, swaying her hips a little bit more than usual, and before she opened the door she turned and winked at Trevor. She opened the door and smiled when she saw Amanda, Noah, and the girls. "Thank you for taking him last night Amanda." She said gently, wrapping an arm around him as he stepped closer to her. "Trevor and I appreciate it greatly."
Amanda smiled. "No problem, any time, he's such a good kid."
Olivia smiled and before she could say anything Noah piped up. "Thank you, Auntie Amanda. Tell Uncle Sonny I said thank you too!"
Olivia raised an eyebrow. "Wow, look at those manners." She chuckled. She let go of Noah and hugged Amanda, "I'll give you details soon," she whispered and pulled away. "Have a good rest of your Saturday!" She watched Amanda walk away and she closed and locked the door. "So you had a good time with Auntie Amanda, Uncle Sonny, and the girls huh?"
Noah nodded. "And Frannie!" He paused for a minute. "Mom, can we get a dog?"
Olivia opened her mouth. "How about we talk about it, okay? I need to think if I'm home enough to take care of a dog."
Noah furrowed his brow. "Auntie Amanda works more than you do and she has Frannie."
Olivia let out a breath. "Yes, she does. She also has a lot of help and it's something I have to see if we can do. Let me think about it, okay sweet boy?"
Noah deflated. "Fine, I'll be patient."
Olivia nodded. "But if we do get a dog, you're going to need to help out with it."
Noah nodded excitedly. "I will! I promise!"
Olivia smiled. "Okay, go wash up and we'll figure out dinner." She watched him run off to his bathroom to wash up for dinner. Olivia sat back next to Trevor and rested her head on the back of the couch. "A dog," she whispered.
Trevor smiled. "It might be good for him."
Olivia looked over at him. "You gonna move in to help take care of it?"
Trevor smiled. "I would if you asked me to," he whispered. "I like you, a lot, and I would do anything you asked."
Olivia smiled and took a deep breath. "I guess I'll have to look into the bylaws of the building to see if there are any breeds we can't have. Pit bulls, Rottweilers, Chihuahuas."
Trevor looked at her. "Chihuahuas?"
Olivia looked at him. "They may be small but I swear they're more vicious than pit bulls."
Trevor chuckled. "Pits get a bad rap. The owners of pit bulls are irresponsible and turn them into killers. They're actually lovely dogs."
Olivia smirked. "You're proving my point."
Trevor smiled and kissed her gently, resting a hand on the side of her face.
Olivia let out a soft moan and cradled his face in her hands, deepening the kiss a little. She pulled away and blushed when she heard Noah's giggle. She took a deep breath and looked over Trevor's shoulder to Noah. "Okay, sweet boy, what do you want for dinner?"
Noah smiled. "Tacos?"
Olivia nodded and looked at Trevor. "Tacos?"
Trevor smiled. "Tacos."
Olivia smirked. "Tacos it is! Sweet boy get me the menu." She said gently, getting comfortable on the couch, feeling Trevor's hand on her thigh, squeezing gently. She bit her bottom lip and looked at him.
Trevor smiled and kissed her forehead. "You're beautiful," he whispered.
Noah came over with the menu and sat on the other side of Trevor. "How was you guys' night last night?" He asked innocently.
Olivia looked at Trevor and blushed. "It was good. We had some alone time and it was really special."
Trevor smiled and looked at her then at Noah. "Very special, your mom is very special, but I'm sure you knew that."
Noah nodded. "She is really special."
Olivia smiled, feeling tears well up in her eyes. Hearing the two most important people in her life call her special made her want to cry. "You're both special," she said softly, high-pitched as she fought back tears.
Trevor looked at her and wiped away the tear that ran down her face with his thumb.
Noah looked at them. "I can see how much you love each other."
Olivia's breath hitched. She looked at Trevor, then at Noah, and back again. She got up and quickly walked to her room and closed the door gently, sliding down the door on the inside, tears running down her face.
Noah looked at Trevor. "Did I say something wrong?"
Trevor smiled gently. "You didn't know, it's okay."
Noah hung his head. "What did I do?"
Trevor took a deep breath. "Nothing kiddo. Mom's just a little spooked by the word love."
Noah looked at Trevor and furrowed his brow. "Why?"
Trevor sighed gently. "She's been hurt by men who have told her they loved her, and she's just not ready to say it. She's trying to save herself some heartache."
Noah nodded. "Okay, should I go try to apologize?"
Trevor shook his head. "You have nothing to apologize for, you didn't do anything wrong. How about we order dinner then I'll go try to talk to her?"
Noah nodded. They ordered dinner and Trevor got up. Noah looked at him. "You sure I didn't do anything wrong?"
Trevor crouched down to be at his eye level. "You didn't do anything wrong Noah. I'm gonna go talk to Mom, okay?" Noah nodded and Trevor stood up and walked to the bedroom, knocking lightly. "Liv, baby, can we talk?"
Olivia got up and wiped her eyes and opened the door, walking over to the bed. "I'm sorry."
Trevor closed the door and sat next to her. "You and your son are good at apologizing when you've done nothing wrong."
Olivia looked at him. "I just… Trevor, I feel that way I'm just not ready to say it."
Trevor nodded. "I know, but I love you, you don't need to say it back but I've been ready to burst for two days, I love you, Olivia Benson, and I'll wait forever for you to be ready to say it back."
Olivia wiped her eyes. "I feel the same way Trevor, about you, I'm just scared."
Trevor wrapped his arms around her. "I know. And I will do everything in my power to take that fear away."
Olivia smiled gently and kissed him passionately. She pulled away lightly and looked into his eyes. "Let's go. We need to order dinner."
Trevor smiled. "Already ordered. Noah let me know what your favorite tacos were and I ordered for all of us. Then I came in here to talk to you."
Olivia smiled. "God I love that boy." She took a deep breath. "I should probably apologize to Noah for making him feel bad. His statement was so innocent and I acted like he just told us the worst news on the planet."
Trevor kissed her temple. "Come on, let's go talk to Noah."
Olivia smiled and got up. They walked out into the living room together and Olivia sat beside Noah, wrapping her arm around him. "Hey, sweet boy."
Noah hugged her. "I'm sorry I made you cry, Mom. I don't want to make you cry."
Olivia hugged him back and kissed the top of his head. "It's okay, I overreacted. I just… I'm not quite ready to verbalize my feelings for Trevor quite yet and hearing you say it just made it… real. I cried because I can't say it yet, and you said it so matter of fact. My baby boy is braver than I am."
Noah rolled his eyes. "Mom, I'm not a baby anymore."
Olivia smiled. "As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be."
Noah let out a small sigh, but deep down he loved it. It made him feel special. "Okay," he grumbled.
Olivia giggled and looked at Trevor. "You know this is what I've always wanted. A family. Noah and I, we're a family, but you complete our family. And maybe a dog." She smirked and looked at Noah light up. "I have to figure out what kinds of dogs are allowed here, and do some research on breeds to find the right fit for us, but yes, we can get a dog."
Noah smiled. "Yes!" He hugged Olivia tight. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Olivia smiled. "You're welcome, sweet boy." Just then there was a knock on the door. "That must be dinner!"
Olivia went to get up but Trevor stopped her. "Relax, I'll get the food." Trevor went to the door and got the food, bringing it into the kitchen serving the tacos on plates, putting the guacamole in a bowl, and putting it on a platter with chips around it. He brought the plates and the guacamole platter to the dining room table. "Dinner is served!"
Olivia smiled got up and walked into the dining room. "Thank you," she whispered and ran her hand over his chest looking into his eyes. She winked and sat down by her plate. Noah sat next to her and Trevor sat across from her. She picked up a taco and took a bite. "Mm, this place has the best tacos."
Trevor smiled. "They smell delicious." He picked up a taco and took a bite then he put the taco down and covered his mouth as he talked. "Oh my god."
Olivia smiled. "Told ya." She ran her foot up his leg, paying attention to her dinner, taking a chip and dipping it in the guacamole she took a bite and smiled.
Noah took a bite of his taco and smiled. "This is my favorite taco place!"
Olivia smiled and looked directly at Trevor as she continued her ministrations with her foot. "Best taco place around."
