ZERO MINUS ONE

Chapter Five

Chief Francis Sharkey had to advise Kowalski, Ron, Patterson, and himself to have the two fly subs ready for the trip to Russia under the radar. They are to pick up Admiral Nelson's wife and three of her team members, experts on nuclear fusion.

"Chief, what are we to do when it comes to our weapons in case we are attacked?" Kowalski screamed out with his question.

Sharkey wasn't happy with the question along with Kowalski's altitude. "You're not to let the Russian security know that you're there in the first place. We can't have another galactic breech on our hands Kowalski. " Sharkey went ballistic with Kowalski, while Patterson and Ron had been getting the fly subs ready for flying.

"Okay, Chief, I completely understand," Kowalski said.

It was at this point where Commander Morton opening up the hatchway came inside to check on the progress of the two flying subs.

He almost walked in on Chief Sharkey telling Kowalski off regarding the flying subs. "Chief, is everything fine? We need to be getting going with Admiral Nelson's orders to head too Russian. His wife and her team were waiting to be picked up." He remarked.

Chief Sharkey will say the following to Commander Morton. "Sir, they will be ready soon. I would hate to see that we disappoint Admiral Nelson after all?" he walked away from the commander to check on the first flying sub for which he would be flying, while Kowalski would be his co-pilot.

It was at this point that Commander Chip Morton had to be exhausted. He was heading to the Control Room since Doctor Alverez had released Captain Lee Crane to take over. Admiral Nelson told him to go to his quarters to sleep.

When Morton arrived at the Control room with the lateness of the hour. Captain Lee Crane wearing his full uniform. Admiral Harriman Nelson was with his Captain, ensuring he was fine for the night before Commander Morton retired for the evening along with Nelson.

The radio shack reported that the two flying subs would be taking off in 15 minutes with the last of the checks.

"Lee, how are you feeling tonight?" Morton needed to ask the relative of the question.

Captain Lee Crane was standing over the plotting table going over the last of the map details for the Seaview and the two flying subs.

"Doing well as expected by Doctor Alverez, Chip. Other I am here to work and get this over with." He had sounded annoyed with his comments.

"Lee, I know I am stepping on your toes. But don't you think Doctor Alverez sent you back to work too quickly?" he advised.

Lee turned to face Commander Morton at the plotting table to say. "I think it's best Chip that I do work to keep my mind off the issues." He will state even though Commander Morton didn't understand what the captain was talking about.

"All right Lee, let me sign the log for the evening. Just be sure to keep an eye out on the flying subs until they reach Russia under the radar?" he will say grabbing the black and white log on the plotting table. He will find the correct page with today's date signing it with the pen he had in his uniform pocket before taking the spiral staircase to his quarters.

RUSSIA

Slyvia and her three team members had been very careful to stay away from the security teams in the local region.

She had been sent a coded message from her husband telling her that the transportation was on their way to pick her up and the three others. Slyvia was sitting on the small chair overlooking the small window.

Even her science friends across the street in their own quarters had been keeping themselves busy with the time having been moving very slow.

It was halfway through with the time mentioned to be exactly eight hours before the transportation arrives.

"Great! I would hate to be caught by the Russian radar system for the most part. I do know that Admiral Nelson is very anxious to meet up with his wife to have a full report on the nuclear fusion." Sharkey reported.
