Chapter 3
Daeron the Daring
Daeron quickly mounted Tessarion and bound himself with the chains, he looked around and found Silverwing taking flight. Daeron flew quickly but did not find Aegon or Vermithor. Suddenly a commotion drew his attention and turned his dragon towards the camp outside to find Adam Velaryon and Seasmoke setting fire to the tents as men were caught unaware of the attack. He attacked Seasmoke and took the fight skywards as Adam followed him, he looked down to find the green army fighting Black Trombo's Myrish sellswords who attacked from the northern side of the town and Lord Unwin Peake's men engaged in a tense battle with the Knights of the Riverlands to the west of town.
Suddenly the woods behind the town were set on fire and burning archers and soldiers ran away from the forest as Vermithor burst forth from the woods and flew towards Lord Pipers men and set fire to the escaping group of Lyonel Deddings and his troops. Suddenly the Hightower soldiers fought with renewed strength as Aegon set fire to the remainder of the winter wolves and Billy Burly's archers. A flash of green power busrst forth from Aegon as a giant mace crushed the Tully knights sending men and horses tumbling through the air.
He ordered his dragon to fly low and set flame to Seasmoke's tail and snapped Seasmoke's wings with Tessarion's claws causing a gash on the dragon making it scream in pain. Suddenly Aegon appeared out of nowhere and covered both dragon and rider in his green light as Seasmoke struggled to set free. Aegon sat behind Adam Velaryan and brought a knife towards Adam's neck and spoke something which Daeron could not hear but the dragonseed's shoulders dropped suddenly as he slowly descended towards the center of the town. Most of the battle below was coming to an end as many of the riverlords surrendered and rest of their army were routed.
Aegon used his powers and bound both Adam and Seasmoke with magical green chains as the remaining troops of Rhaenyra threw down their weapons and bent the Knee. Daeron landed Tessarion behind Seasmoke and soon saw that Vermithor and Silverwing were circling the camp as if guarding against any black armies. As soon as orders were given to arrest the prisoners and ransom the lords the town was cleared of corpses from both sides.
The cells of the town were bursting with prisoners as Aegon held a war counsel and decided to punish the remaining riverlords for their treachery. Lady Sharis was decared as lady of Tumbleton and most of the ransom for the riverlords and fines from House Roxton would be given as recompense for the damage done to her town. Lord Roxton tried to defy the king but one roar from Vermithor was enough to cowe the lord, the dragonseed Ulf quickly bent the knee to King Aegon and hailed him as the rightful monarch.
The captured riverlords including Oscar Tully, Benjikot Blackwood, Lord Mallister, and Lady Sabatha Frey bent the knee to Aegon and joined their troops to the green army. Aegon has been hard on the soldiers who indulged in looting and raping of the small folk as he lashed drunken men and gelded a few rapers and send murderers to the wall. Lord Roxton and Lord Peake were warned that any disturbance from the men would result in their dismissal from the army.
Aegon left ser Hobart in charge and flew their dragons to Harrenhal where they met a heavily pregnant Alice Rivers who has garrisoned the castle with broken men and turncloaks. All of them bowed to King Aegon and paid homage to Daeron after the stories of the fight at Tumbleton and the defeat of the dead queen's armies was spreading in the form of the song "the Gold Dragon turned to Green". Aegon and Daeron spoke with the witch and Aegon decreed her as the widow of prince Aemond and legitimized the unborn child as a Targaryan.
Aegon dove into the river and resurfaced bringing both Vhagar and Aemond's corpses, Aegon entrusted Daeron with Dark Sister and that night they put their brother and his dragon to rest near Harrenhal. Aegon ordered him to fly back to Tumbleton and flew towards the Vale after disclosing his wild plan to Daeron. They will march to Kings Landing with three dragons while Lord Borros will bring his troops to the capital. The riverlords are ordered to collect the harvest and thrawt the Northern host till Aegon brings the Vale into the fold. He just hoped that the powerful ring protects Aegon against the Valeman and the rogue dragonseed Nettles and Sheepsteeler.
Lady of the Vale
Lady Jeyne read the pretenders missive and crumpled the parchament as soon as she was finished. "That vile cripple dares threaten me ?. All these fictions about a magic ring and a flying god were merely delusions of grandeur of a sick and dying mind" she raged as her knights looked annoyed at the Usurper's unusual requests. The loss of Ser Willam Royce and queen Rhaenyra's death at the hands of the usurper had forced her hand to gather the armies of the vale and sail to join Lord Stark and Lord Tully to free Kings Landing.
"The mad man claims he can destroy entire armies with his power, let us show the fool how the vale treats tyrants" she raged as her court murmured and agreed with her. Suddenly a bright green light entered the hall of the Eyrie and everyone closed their eyes to evade the blinding light. When the brightness stopped the entire hall fell into silence looking at the man who stood before the falcon throne. He might have lost some weight but those amethyst eyes and silver hair screamed Targaryan and with the famed Blackfyre resting in his hand and the Valyrian steel circlet on his head glowing green, lady Jeyne looked at the pretender for the first time since several years.
"Lady Arryn, i ask you to pay homage to your true king and rise the armies of the Vale of Arryn in my name" the cur spoke in a grim tone. She raged "vile interloper I am not afrad of your threats and falsehoods, as long as I live I serve Queen Rhaenyra and her children". The pretender's eyes glowed green and he hovered to the horror of all the lords and ladies who started praying to the seven and tried to leave the hall witnessing a man fly for the first time. She herself froe in fear as the rumors of the secret power appeared to be true. 'what sorcery is this ?' she lamented but kept a brave face and signaled to her knights.
Few of her guards shot crossbow bolts but they fell flat on impact with the usurper whose hand glowed green as he swatted her guards and knights with a large fist made of green light. Then he pointed his glowing ring at her and boomed "My lady this is your last warning, kneel before me or be obliterated, the choice is yours. I have defeated the riverlords today and claimed Vermithor as my mount, I have pardoned those treasonous lords who bent their knees, if you refuse me I will kill you and make Ser Eldric Arryn as the new lord of the Eyrie". She shivered at the news and the gall of this pretender and before she was about to rage and order him killed, a loud roar shook the Eyrie as a large shadow flew through the Eyrie's courtyard.
Aegon flew towards the courtyard and several lords and ladies who had already left in fear were now trembling in fear by the time Jeyne entered the courtyard. The Bronze fury slowly landed and roared as Aegon sat on the dragon's back and raised his sword towards the sky, a heartbeat later a green power came forth from the sword which reached the heavens itself and all who witnessed it shook in fear and slowly all the lords and ladies knelt before the might of Aegon. She knew then that the rumors are true and she along with her army would be destroyed if she denies the pretender. With a heavy heart she knelt before the dragon and her eyes were filled with tears as she lamented 'forgive me Rhaenyra'.
Note:- That is two kingdoms conquered by Aegon and next is Kingslanding and Casterly Rock. Please comment.
