Chloe and I drove to a junkyard called American Rust. We were chilling in an old boat that was just sitting there, smoking cigarettes and keeping each other company.

"This really fucking sucks," Chloe said after taking a puff. "What do you mean, Chlo?" I asked, looking at her. "Just everything. We can't go home now. No more Blackwell, and David is moving in," she replied with a frustrated sigh. I jumped off the boat and landed on the ground.

"On the bright side, at least we have each other," I said, offering my hand to help her down. "Let's see if we can find another car here, one that actually works," I suggested. "I doubt it. Why do we need another car? We have yours," Chloe replied.

"I really love my old one, but it's almost done for, so why not look for a new one?" I said with a smile. "Do you really think we can find something better here?" she questioned.

"You don't believe in me, Chloe. But in a place like this, surprises are everywhere," I answered as I started to look around. Chloe and I began searching for anything useful.

"Hey, Aiden! Check this out!" Chloe shouted, making me turn to see her. She was in front of an old truck that was a faded yellowish-beige. "Great find! This looks pretty good," I said as I walked over to inspect the truck, which seemed to be in really good shape overall.

"Do you think it will work?" Chloe asked me. "I'm not sure. Let's check it out," I replied, lifting the hood to see inside. "Wow, this engine is really messed up. It definitely needs a new battery," I observed, noticing how old the battery looked and realizing it wouldn't start without a replacement.

I disconnected the old battery and threw it on the ground. We quickly found a new battery from another car and installed it. "Okay, let's give it a try," I said as I climbed into the driver's seat.

I found a flathead screwdriver in the glove compartment to use for the ignition, but when I tried to start the truck, it didn't make a sound. Looks like this truck needs more than just a new battery.

I noticed my phone buzzing and checked to see that Rachel had sent a message in the group chat with me and Chloe.

R: Grabbing something from home. Then I'll meet you guys at the junkyard.

A: You better!

Chloe was staring at her phone when I noticed her. I asked, "Did you see the message?" She replied, "Yeah, I did. Aiden, there's something I need to talk with you," as she climbed into the passenger seat of the truck. I turned to her, resting my arm on the back of the seat, and said, "Of course, what's up?"

"Are you and Rachel dating now?" she asked me. "You're not jealous, are you?" I replied with a laugh. If Chloe and I weren't related, I bet she would totally like me. If I said that to her, she'd probably punch me in the face or maybe even lower.

"Jealous? No fucking way!" Chloe shouted, her cheeks getting a bit pink. "Then why is your face all red?" I pointed out. "It's not red!" she insisted. I gave her a knowing look. "You still didn't answer my question," I said, nudging her playfully.

"What do you want me to say, Aiden?" she asked. "Well… it's not really about what I want," she replied, rubbing her neck. "Are you sure? It sounds like you want to say no," I teased, raising my hand slightly.

She was struggling to find the right words, and I couldn't help but chuckle a little. "I'm just fucking with you, Chloe. Lighten up," I said, shifting back a bit. "Honestly, I'm not sure. Rachel's fun to hang out with, but she's not really the girl I want, you know? I… I just don't know," I admitted, leaning against the truck door.

I wasn't sure if I liked Rachel in that way. We had only spent a little time together, and I didn't really know her. Just then, my phone started ringing, and I pulled it out.

It was Frank calling, which was unusual for him. I answered and switched it to speaker mode. "Hey, Frank. What's up?" I asked. "Price, are you and Chloe there?" Frank replied from the other end.

Chloe and I exchanged glances and smiled. "Yeah, she's with me. What's up?" I asked. "Good. I need to talk to you both," Frank replied over the phone.

"Why? Are we in trouble?" I questioned him. "I'm not sure. Do you think you might be?" Frank asked, sounding a bit worried. "Are you asking about us or just in general?" I replied.

"It doesn't really matter. Where are you two?" Frank inquired. "At the junkyard north of town," I said. "Great. I'll be there in an hour," Frank said before hanging up. I put my phone back in my pocket. "That was strange," Chloe remarked after I ended the call.

"Yeah, it was. Wonder what Frank needs us for," I said, leaning back against the seat as I lit a cigarette. I gave Chloe one of mine and she lit hers up. "So now what do you want to do?" Chloe asked me.

"Maybe take It was definitely something. I wondered what Frank wanted from us, so I leaned back in my seat and lit a cigarette. I offered one to Chloe, and she lit hers as well. "What do you want to do now?" she asked.

"I could use a quick nap; I'm pretty worn out," I said, putting my feet up on the dashboard. Chloe rested her head on my shoulder and started to doze off, and soon enough, I drifted off too.

*X*

Chloe and I were jolted awake about an hour and a half later by someone knocking on the driver's side window. "Aiden? Chloe?" Rachel called out while tapping on the glass. I startled a bit and peered outside, spotting Rachel with a mischievous grin on her face.

"Oh shit," I muttered, rubbing my eyes. I rolled down the window, and she scolded us, "Didn't you learn not to sleep with lit cigarettes? You could start a fire!" I rolled my eyes at her. "Yeah, I know," I replied, putting out my cigarette on the door and tossing it aside.

"Are you going to let me in or what?" she asked, smirking. "I love picking up hitchhikers. Come on in," I said, remembering that Chloe was still dozing. "Thanks!" Rachel replied with a wink as she strolled to the front of the truck and tossed her duffel bag into the bed.

I placed my hand on Chloe's shoulder and gently shook her to wake her up. "Hey, Chloe. Time to wake up. We need to make space for Rachel," I said. "Oh, shit, sorry!" she replied, shifting over a little. Then, I opened the door, and Rachel climbed into the truck, sitting between Chloe and me.

"Looks like you've been busy!" she said, playfully nudging us. "I just needed some room. Boredom drives me crazy," I replied with a grin. "This is great! You already found us a getaway vehicle," Rachel exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Chloe looked puzzled. Oh no, I forgot to fill her in. "What do you mean, getaway vehicle?" she asked. "Oh, he didn't mention it to you?" Rachel chimed in. Chloe just shook her head.

Last night, Rachel and I decided to escape from Arcadia Bay. She told me, "We're getting out of here." Chloe looked really angry and stared at me intensely. "Are you fucking serious, Aiden? You're just going to fucking ditch me like Max did? I can't believe this!" she yelled before getting out of the truck and slamming the door.

"Wait, Chloe!" I called after her as I jumped out of the truck. "Fuck you, Aiden! Just run away! I don't care!" she yelled back, walking away furiously. I wasn't really planning to leave; I just said that at the moment. I sighed and rubbed my face, feeling frustrated. "Fuck..." I mumbled as I headed back to the truck.

After what happened, Rachel and I were talking about the play that was happening tonight. I still felt like shit for getting into that argument with Chloe. I know she can be stubborn and all but… Would she listen to me if I told her that that wasn't happening? I don't know.
