Ch 16 Breakout
Later that night Kike and Sasha arrived at Scar's cave. To their surprise they saw that Kion had his hippo friend Beshte with him. "Kion what's he doing here?" Sasha demanded, glaring at Beshte.
"He can help," was Kion's response. "Beshte is really strong. He can move that boulder in no time."
"I still don't understand what's happening Kion," Beshte said softly.
"Just trust me Beshte," Kion said with a smile. "We need that rock moved. Can you do it?"
"Sure I can," Beshte said with a smile. With that the young hippo went over to the rock and easily moved it to the side.
"Thanks Beshte," Kion said, giving his friend a grateful smile. "You can go now."
"You aren't going to tell me what's going on?" Beshte asked, the surprise clear in his voice.
"Trust me its better if you don't know everything," Kion said.
"If you say so Kion," Beshte said. "I'll see you later." With that the young hippo took his leave.
"Is he gone?" Scar asked.
"Yes Scar he's gone," Sasha said. With that Scar emerged from the cave. His appearance startled the trio. His fur was dirty and matted down and his once shiny black mane was dull and dirty as well. He had numerous scars on his body and his scared eye was almost completely closed.
"Whoa," Kion breathed, his amber eyes wide.
"Come Scar lets get you to Zira," Sasha said quickly. "Before anyone comes along." Without another word Sasha and Kike whisked Scar out of the cave. Before he left he turned to Kion.
"Thank you my boy for your help," came his raspy sounding voice.
"Yeah sure," Kion said softly. "No problem."
"Meet me at the Outland border in two days time," Scar directed. "By then I'll have news for you."
"Sure thing Scar," Kion said with a smile.
"Its Uncle Scar," Scar said. "Until then." With that Scar quickly scurried away, being helped by Sasha and Kike. Kion smiled to himself, proud of what he had done. He was still smiling when he walked over to his sleeping spot and settled down for the night. However he accidently bumped Kopa and woke him up.
"Huh?" Kopa muttered, rubbing his eyes. "Where the heck have you been Kion?"
"Shh," Kion hissed. "Go back to sleep Kop'. You're having a nightmare."
"Oh ok," Kopa said with a yawn. With that both Princes closed their eyes and were promptly asleep.

The next day Kion was awakened by the sounds of the adults frantically talking. Looking over Kion saw that Kiara and Kopa were awake as well and were looking at the adults with wide eyes. "What's happening?" Kion asked.
"Beat me," Kopa said.
"I think something bad happened," Kiara said. "And from what I can hear it has something to do with Scar." Kion's eyes got wide and he stood and without thinking approached the adults, who instantly stopped talking when Kion got near.
"Dad what's happening?" Kion asked, looking at Simba.
"Nothing you need to concern yourself with son," Simba said with a small smile.
"Kiara said you were talking about Scar," Kion said. "Were you? Did something happen to him?"
"You may as well tell him Simba," Nala said. Simba gave his mate a look and she let out a chuckle. "You know he's going to keep asking questions," the Queen said. Simba realized Nala was right and let out a slight chuckle of his own.
"Alright," Simba said, looking at his youngest. "You deserve to know the truth. Yes something did happen with Scar."
"What?" Kion asked.
"He escaped," Simba said slowly.
"But how?" Kion asked, trying his best to sound like this was the first he heard about this. "I mean wasn't there like a huge boulder in front of the entrance?"
"Yes there was," Simba said with a nod. "And there's no way he would have been able to move the rock himself."
"So someone helped him escape?" Kopa asked as he and Kiara approached the group.
"Yes son it looks that way," Simba said.
"Who would help that scary lion get free?" Kiara asked, her voice coming out soft. Simba pulled his daughter close and nuzzled her.
"Don't you worry honey," the King said. "We'll find the traitors. And when we do there will be serious consequences."
"Like what?" Kion asked, his voice coming out soft.
"Like death penalty," Sarabi said. Simba shot his mother a glare and nodded towards the cubs, who were all staring with wide eyes. "Don't you worry my dears," the former Queen said, nuzzling her grandchildren. "Everything is going to be alright."
"Your grandmother is right my darlings," Nala chimed in. "There's nothing to worry about."
"If you say so Mom," Kiara said softly.
"Why don't you three find your friends and play?" Simba suggested. The triplets nodded and ran off to find their friends.

A little while later Kion had met up with Bunga, Beshte, Fuli and Ono. But the four month old Prince was distracted. Just then Beshte approached his friend. "Hey there Ky what's wrong?" the young hippo asked with concern.
"Nothing," Kion lied. "I'm fine."
"Aw you're not worried 'bout your Dad's crazy uncle are ya?" Bunga asked, causing Kion to look at him with surprise.
"What do you mean?" Kion asked.
"My Uncles told me your Dad's Uncle escaped last night," Bunga said. "And that he had help gettin' out of that cave." Beshte's eyes went wide when he heard Bunga's words.
"Uh Kion can I talk to for a sec?" Beshte asked, motioning for Kion to follow him. Once they were alone Beshte turned to face Kion, "Alright Kion be honest with me," Beshte said, his voice uncharacteristically rough.
"What do you mean?" Kion asked, clearly confused.
"I mean did I help you break you Dad's crazy uncle out last night?" Beshte demanded, keeping his voice low.
"Beshte I..." Kion began.
"I'm not stupid Kion," Beshte said, glaring at the Prince. "I can put two and two together. I know I did so you may as well admit it."
"Ok fine you did," Kion hissed. "But you gotta trust me when I say I had a good reason for it."
"He's a murderer Kion!" Beshte hissed back. "There's never a good excuse for helping a murderer! I'm going to tell King Simba what you did right now!"
"No!" Kion cried out, getting in front of Beshte. "Please Beshte don't do that!"
"Give me on good reason why I shouldn't," Beshte said.
"Because," Kion said. "If you do I'll be branded a traitor. And all traitors get put to death!" Beshte's expression softened and his eyes widened. "Please Beshte," Kion tried again. "Just let me explain."
"Fine," Beshte said, his voice having an edge to it. "Explain."
"Thanks," Kion said with a grateful smile. "Scar isn't so bad Beshte. I've been talking to him almost everyday for months and he's just really misunderstood."
"Puh that's a good one," Beshte scoffed, rolling his blue eyes. "Look Kion I know you pretty well and I know you have a big heart but I never thought you'd be this gullible."
"I'm not gullible," Kion shot back, glaring at his hippo friend.
"Kion Scar's a master manipulator," Beshte said. "He's a really good liar so whatever crud he told you was most likely a lie."
"How would you know?" Kion demanded, his voice coming out rough. "You never ever met him."
"No but my dad has," Beshte responded. "He told me all kinds of stories of when he was a calf and Scar was King. Scar was a terrible King and he almost destroyed the Pride Lands. There was no misunderstanding about that."
"He's right Kion," a voice said. Kion and Beshte turned and their eyes went wide with surprise when they saw who was standing there.
