Life 1: Fateful Meetings

"Why… just why?"

The boy thought to himself as he lay on the ground with tears in his eyes. The boy in question had rather pale skin and pinkish red eyes, he had sharp pointed ears and platinum blonde hair in a bob cut. He wore a pair of black pants and shoes along with a white aristocratic shirt, A shirt that was now stained with blood as a large wooden stake had pierced his heart. This boy was no mere child, he was a being whose mere existence was known and feared by all of humanity, a being who could only sustain his own life through consuming the life of others. This boy was a Vampire… well, that was only half true. He was really a half vampire, half human hybrid, also known as a Dhampir. He could drink blood and eat human food, he could walk in the sunlight while still being practically immortal, He had all the powers of a vampire and none of the weaknesses. You could say he was the best of both worlds… and yet, he was loved by neither. To the humans, it did not matter that he was only half vampire, the mere fact he had any vampirism at all meant that he was still a monster, the stake was proof enough. As for the vampires, they were even worse. Out of all the supernatural races that populate our world, vampires were easily the most prideful and prejudiced. Looking down on not only everyone else, but even their own kind if they were not of pure blood. Those who are descendants of the progenitors, those whose blood were untainted by other beings, only they are considered to be True Vampires. if someone was bitten and turned, they would still be treated as lesser, even the act itself is looked down upon by the high-class vampires and God forbid if they ever mate. So of course, dhampirs would be treated poorly and the boy was no exception. His own family wanted nothing to do with him, at best they ignored him and at worst they belittled and abused him. He wanted to run away, to find somewhere anywhere he could escape to… and look where that got him. Stabbed by some passing through vampire hunters and left to die without a second glance from them. At this point, he didn't care anymore, he simply closed his eyes and accepted his fate. With one final breath, his life and story came to an end as he returned to the darkness from which he spawned

Until his eyes opened once more. The stake and the hole in his chest were gone, but he was still in the same place he was before. that means he was still alive, so how…

"Good, you are awake."

He froze for a moment before slowly turning towards the voice. A girl around his age stood before him, she appeared to be only a few years older and was wearing a black dress with a cloak. She had blue eyes and crimson red hair.

"Tell me, what is your name?"

She asked the boy. Though still confused about the whole situation, he still chose to answer.

"G-Gasper, my name is Gasper… Vladi."

The girl pondered for a bit before smiling warmly.

"Gasper… I like that name"

She kneeled down and leaned closer to him.

"My name is Rias Gremory, and from this point onward you are now my servant"

Gasper was even more confused now.

"What do you mean by servant?"

Rias did not respond, instead she sprouted two wings from her back, wings that were black and bat-like. This could only mean one thing.

"Y-Y-You're a Devil!?"

"Correct, and now so are you."

He didn't know much about devils, but what he did know was that they could turn humans and other beings into their devil servants through a process called reincarnation. Gasper decided to double check by summoning his own wings. Vampires possessed retractable wings like devils, but they were real bat wings and at times resembled those of a dragon. They were also colored to match their eyes; in Gasper's case they were pinkish red… at least they were. Now his wings were exactly like Rias' wings, meaning she really had turned him into a devil.

"This was the only way I could have saved you, and I understand your reluctance"

Rias spoke with sorrow in her voice before she stood up again.

"But I will make you a promise."

Gasper raised his head, listening intently

"Live for me and you will find a life that will make you happy, you are my servant and a part of my family, I will never abandon you."

Gasper didn't know what to say, this was exactly what he wanted, what he had longed for his whole life.

Still, it was all too good to be true, she was still a devil so maybe she was trying to lure him into a false sense of security before revealing her true colors

"So, what do you say?"

But even so, her eyes, her smile, and the way she held out her hand. Rias radiated the same level of kindness as… Valerie once did, the only friend Gasper had ever known and was the only reason he was able to escape that hell hole. Gasper gave her a chance, so why not Rias. In the end, he made his choice and never looked back.

It has now been a full year and a half since Gasper's reincarnation, and he has learned many new things about the world of Devils. The Great War, the 72 Pillers, even how the reincarnation system works. But more importantly, he learned about that special power of his. Ever since he was young, Gasper had the ability to temporarily freeze anyone and anything in his line of sight. But they wouldn't be frozen in ice nor in stone, they would be frozen in time. This was power was called Forbidden Balor View or The Evil Eye that Stops the World, and it was one of many powers created by the God of the Bibel… yes that God. Collectively known as Sacred Gears, they were made as part of his system to enact miracles on earth, as well as granting humanity a fighting chance against the rest of the supernatural world. As such, they are only given to humans upon birth, albeit a small percentage. So, judging by the fact he gave one to a half human like Gasper meant that he didn't discriminate and loved his children equally, a sentiment the dhampir would appreciate if not for the fact he hated his Sacred Gear. He could never control Balor View as it always activated on its own, specifically when he gets frightened. No matter how hard he tried he would always end up freezing everyone, which only made his family fear him even more, he couldn't even stop himself from freezing Rias and her peerage during their first meeting. So, under the instructions of her older brother, Rias had her new servant sealed inside a magic room until further notice. That may seem bad, but Gasper didn't mind. In fact, he preferred this. After what happened the last time he went outside, he'd rather stay in his room where it's safe. The room itself was rather barebones, having no windows, a singular clock on the wall, a single wooded cabinet, a coffin for sleeping, and a single table with a laptop the gasper was currently typing on. Until he heard a knock on the double doored entrance, followed by a familiar voice

"Gasper."

"P-President!"

This was the title Rias wished to be referred to as by her servant, for reasons that will be revealed later.

"I just wanted to let you know that dinner was ready"

"O-Oh r-right, just teleport it in here like always"

There was a brief moment of silence

"President?"

"Why don't you come and join us this time?"

"B-But your brother said…"

"Only during the Day Time, the barrier turns off at night so you can have a bit a freedom."

"I know that but… well…"

After another brief period of silence, Rias relented with a sigh.

"I understand, I shall return with your food."

Gasper could hear her footsteps walking away and all he could feel was guilt, still this was all for the best. It's not that he doesn't trust her or the others, he just doesn't trust himself or his terrible power. They may have forgiven him the first couple of times he froze them, but everyone has a limit. Surly they would grow to hate him just like his family. That's why he wants to stay in this room, a room where no one can hurt him, and he can't hurt anyone else. Of course, he's not just sitting in there doing nothing all day, being a servant means he has a job to do, and that job is making contracts. Whereas angels gain power through faith and prayer, devils do so by performing favors for humans in exchange for signing contracts. No, they are not signing away their souls… at least not anymore, instead payment is through trading items of value, be it monetary or sentimental. Normally the devil is summoned in person via a magic circle, but Gasper is able to use his computer to do online contracts with those who are just as reclusive as him. This method has resulted in the former dhampir having the highest number of contracts compared to the rest of his peerage, compensating for the fact that he can't participate in other devil duties like hunting down strays or competing in rating games. Still, he was content with where he was and had no reason to change, especially since his aforementioned computer gave him everything he needed, work, entertainment, schooling… ah that's right the school. In truth, Rias and her peerage where no longer in the underworld and have since moved to the human world. specifically, Japan because she is really fond of that country for whatever reason. All of them are currently students at Kuoh Academy, a private school located in the town it was named after. It was once an all-girls school, but it became co-ed in recent years. This resulted in a new school building being erected to account for the influx of male students, with the old building currently being used by the devils under the guise of it being an Occult Research Club, with Rias serving as the president hence why her servants all refer to her as such. It is in this old building that Gasper is locked away in, and even though he only takes online classes, Gasper still wears the official student uniform. Said uniform consists of black blazer with white accents over a white, long-sleeved, button-down shirt with vertical linings, a pink plaid ribbon on the collar, a navy-blue skirt and black dress shoes with black thigh high socks… at least the girl's uniform did. The boys of course had their own uniform, but Gasper preferred this one. In the past his old friend Valerie would make him play dress up in girls' clothing which lead him to develop a crossdressing habit, A habit he was able to pull of surprisingly well due to his already girlish figure, and at least the others didn't seem to mind. Even if they didn't, it would just be another reason to stay in his room, where he can dress how he wants without judgement. So why would he ever want to leave?

It is now past midnight, and the Devils had all left for their apartment homes, leaving only Gasper in his room typing away. It's only natural that a half vampire would be nocturnal, although judging by the bags under his eyes and the fact he's been working since noon, he's definitely been neglecting sleep. Something Rias would definitely scold him for if she ever found out, but you know what they say, what you don't know won't hurt you. A notification popped up on the screen which made Gasper smile.

Transaction Approved: Contract Completed.

The boy fell backwards on the floor with a large sigh of exhaustion.

"Finally, that's the last one. I should probably get sleep now, but…"

He turned his head to look at the clock, it was 3:00am

"…I still got time, I'll make preparations for tomorrow."

He raised himself back up to continue working.

"First, I got to organize my next set of clients, some of them new, but I need to prioritize my regulars. Then again, if I don't do them first, they might cancel on me so maybe…"

Before he could finish his thought, he heard a knock.

"Is that President Rias, or maybe it's one of the others? Either way, why at this hour?"

Another knock was heard, this time more loudly indicating impatience.

"S-Sorry I'm coming"

He got up and ran to the double doors.

"What are you doing here so late President? Or is that you Akeno Nee-Chan"

…there was no response, maybe he got it wrong.

"Maybe… Yuuto senpai? Or… Koneko Chan"

…Still no response

"Why won't you say anything? Are you… mad at me"

The boy looked like he was about to cry, until…

"No, I was just thinking of how to respond."

It was a male voice, one that Gasper did not recognize.

"You still there?"

"I believe he is in shock, Master."

Another male voice spoke, but this one was deeper and smoother. Gasper took a few steps back before tripping and falling on his back, something that the intruders clearly heard.

"Told you"

"Yeah, you're right. guess it's time for Plan B."

Suddenly, something began to seep under the doors, something dark. The room itself was already dark with the only light source being that computer, but this was even darker, because that's what it was. Pure darkness was leaking inside and forming into a pool, and from that pool a figure was emerging. Gasper didn't know who this was, and he wasn't going to wait to find out. Instead, he ran straight to his coffin and sealed it shut. The boy was shivering with fear, how did intruders manage to get in. the barrier should have… no it couldn't have, it's not morning yet. After a long silence, a single set of footsteps could be heard. They were getting closer and closer, Gasper could only hold his breath in a vain attempt to avoid the inevitable, but it was clear to him that this was it. He had been found and the stranger was now close enough to rip open the coffin… but he didn't, instead he spoke to him.

"I know you're in there, but I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to talk."

Gasper heard the stranger sit down on the floor with a grunt.

"I'm sorry for scaring you back there, and for breaking in. I just got to exited, it's been forever since I met a someone else of my own kind."

"His own kind?"

Gasper thought to himself. He still didn't know if he should trust this guy, but he still felt compelled to respond.

"W-What do you mean by that?"

"a half human half vampire, or dhampir if you prefer."

He couldn't believe what he was hearing, was this really

"that's what I am, and I know you are too, I can sense it."

"S-Sense?"

"An ability usually reserved for purebloods, I just… got lucky. I can sense anyone within a small radius who has even the tiniest drop of vampirism in their blood, even if they became devils."

He actually did hear of this ability before, a sixth sense that developed millennia ago by the progenitors. Allowing vampires to keep track of their comrades when hunting, and to prevent lesser beings from infiltrating their ranks.

"Who… are you exactly?"

"Oh, I should probably introduce myself. But…"

The stranger made more shuffling noises before continuing.

"…I want to do it face to face. Sound good?"

After considering it for a moment, Gasper slowly but surely opened his coffin where he finally got a good look at his visitor. He had short dark brown hair with sharp bangs hanging from both sides, his eyes were as red as Ria's hair and his skin was pale like Gaspers. He didn't have the sharp ears, but he did show his sharp fangs through his smile, it seemed he was telling the truth about being half vampire. But what surprised Gasper the most was his uniform, it consists of a black blazer with white accents over a white, long-sleeved, button-down shirt with vertical linings, a black ribbon on the collar, matching black pants, and brown dress shoes.

"Y-You're a student to"

"Yup, just transferred last week, I'm in 2nd year. How about you?"

"I-I'm in 3rd year, in the middle school division."

"Oh, I thought it was just a high school. That's a bigger surprise then learning its run by devils. Also, why are you wearing the girl's uniform?"

"I… well, I just… think its cuter. That's all."

He stared at Gasper with a neutral expression, until he shrugged.

"We all have our hobbies, so I shouldn't judge."

he then raised his hand towards the blonde.

"Anyways, the names Taiga Kurogane."

Gasper took his hand which had a firm but gentil grip.

"My name is Gasper Vladi, pleased to meet you."

"We are pleased to meet you as well."

"AHHHH!"

He turned to his left to meet the second intruder whom he had completely forgotten about, hence the shock. this person was… not a person at all, but a bat-like creature. He was mostly red with black around his eyes giving the allusion that he was wearing a mask, he had silver fangs with an underbite, his large bulging eyes were yellow and on his forehead was a green triangular gemstone. He had no actual body and was instead a vertical oval shaped head with limbs. He had feet but no legs, his wings had silver claws sticking out of the thumbs and the arms were black with a golden pattern resembling thorny vines, said pattern could also be found around his forehead gem. Finally, his ears were shaped like a horizontal oval split in half, and the inside was black.

"I almost forgot, this is Kivat Bat II. He's my… Kivat?"

The Bat was not only glowing a deep violet, but he was also completely frozen. he should have fallen to the ground, yet he was still in the air, completely frozen in place. When Taiga looked back at Gasper, he saw that his eyes were glowing, but they immediately went back to normal after he blinked once.

"O-O-OH NOOOO! IM SO SORRYYYYY!"

Immediately the boy returned to hiding in his coffin. And upon doing so, Kivat returned to normal.

"Master, what just happened?"

"I think he froze you somehow."

"PLEASE DON'T HATE ME, I DIDN'T MEAN TO!"

"Hey, calm down its ok, were not mad at you."

"Y-Y-You're not?"

"Of course, it was clearly an accident, and I am quite all right so there is no harm done."

Despite the reassurance from them, Gasper continued the to hide his coffin while sobbing. So, Taiga went with a different approach.

"Still, that was a pretty interesting power. Is it a sacred Gear?"

"Yes, and I hate it."

"But… why though? Being able to freeze your opponent is a pretty useful power."

"Not for me though… I can never use it properly, and I always end up freezing everyone. I HATE THIS STUPID POWER!"

"Oh… is that why your locked in this room?"

"Uh huh."

"Well, that is certainly not fair. I am starting to not like this Rias Gremory."

"Agreed, and here I thought her clan was supposed to be one of the nicer ones, guess we were wrong."

"N-NO ITS NOT LIKE THAT."

The boy popped out of his coffin, much to the surprise if the two intruders.

"She didn't want me sealed away, it was her brother who ordered it. And besides, the barrier is only up during the day, I just choose to stay in hear because its… safer."

"Is that so… Wait, how do you attend classes if you're stuck in here"

"I do it all on the computer, same thing with contracts."

Taiga looked over at Gasper's computer, which was still on.

"Ok, what about food or using the bathroom."

"The President uses teleportation magic to deliver it to me, as for the bathroom…"

He pointed to the other side of the room where there was another door, this one singular.

"Oh, I thought that was a closet"

"No, that's what the cabinet's for… it may not seem like much, but I have everything I need hear. And as long as I have this stupid power, I'm better off sealed away."

Taiga and Kivat contemplated for a while before the former snapped his fingers after reaching an epiphany.

"Hey, why don't I show you my sacred gear?"

"Y-You have one to?"

Taiga raised his right hand, and a gauntlet appeared on it like magic. The glove part of it was black leather and had orange metal covering the top of this forearm and the back of hand including fingers. There was also a jack-o-lantern attachment on the wrist with a green face and black bat wings sticking out.

"I call it the Mod Gear, let me show you how it works"

He held the gauntlet over his face before activating it, the jack-o-lantern face glowed brightly for a full 5 seconds before it stopped. Once he uncovered his face, Gasper gasped in amazement.

"Your eyes… are blue now"

"that's not all"

He used his sacred gear again in the same manner, 5 more seconds later, he uncovered his face to reveal his nose was now larger and goofy looking.

"Ta-da!"

"Pff, Ha Ha Ha."

Seeing that Gasper was now in a better mood, Taiga used his sacred gear to restore his face after another 5 seconds.

"As you can see, the Mod Gear has the power to modify, I can even use it on others. Do you wanna try?"

"M-Me?"

"Don't worry I doesn't hurt, and I won't make you ugly or anything bad like that. I just wanna try something, and it will be temporary I promise."

"Well… ok."

Now with Gasper's blessing, Taiga began thew process. Just as promised, Gasper felt no pain from this. in fact, he felt a strange yet comforting warmth. Unlike before, this lasted a full minute until completion.

"There, how do you feel?"

"I feel… Great. So, what did you..."

Suddenly, Taiga clapped his hands in front of Gasper, causing him to tumble over.

"AHHHH! W-W-WHAT WAS THAT FOR!"

"a test to see if It worked"

"If what worked?"

"Well, I'm not frozen. Right?"

"Your right, but how? Unless… You modified my sacred gear?"

"Exactly! You see, I figured you main problem was that it was too strong for you to handle, so, I weakened it by sealing away most of its power."

"Splendid job, master. I knew Your Mod Gear was Versatile, but to think it could be used on other sacred gears like that. Truly remarkable, Good Show."

"Why thank you, Kivat. It was honestly a gamble, and I was genuinely worried that…"

Taiga never got to finish his statement before Gasper knocked him down with a tackle hug.

"THANKYOUSOMUCH! INEVRWOUL-INEV-I-I!"

He was a crying mess, babbling incoherently while staining Taiga's uniform with tears and snot. Still, the latter just smiled and patted the former's head. It went on like this for about an hour until Gasper finally seemed to calm down.

"You feeling better, Gasper?"

"Gasper?"

He worried for a bit until he heard snoring. It seemed the boy had used up all of his remaining energy and finally fell asleep.

"What now, master."

Taiga looked at the clock and saw it was 4:55

"I think were done for now."

He placed Gasper back into his coffin and walked over to the exit. Looking back with a smile, he made a two-figure salute.

"Catch you later"

He and Kivat then sunk into a pool of shadows on the floor, which then slipped under the door.

The next day, Gasper woke up after a full 8 hours of sleep. Sadly, he had to play catch up with both online education and his contracts. Maybe he should have stayed up longer to make those preparations, but at least he had a pleasant dream.

Transaction Approved: Contract Completed.

"All right that's 12 down, 24 more to go."

The boy's thoughts and work were interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Is that President Rias, or maybe it's one of the others? Either way, why at this… hour? Wait this is all familiar."

Another knock was heard followed by a voice.

"Yo Gasper, were back!"

It was a male voice, one that Gasper did not… actually no, he did recognize him. Could it be?

"Gasper?"

"Y-Yes, I'm hear."

"Cool, we'll just let ourselves in then."

A pool of darkness leaked into the room from under the door, and a familiar boy with a bat on his shoulder emerged from it.

"It wasn't a dream, it was real, they were real."

"Please forgive our intrusion, we also wish to apologize for leaving without notice last night."

"O-Oh it's fine, it was almost morning Afterall..."

Taiga once again clapped his hands in front of Gaspers face.

"AHHHH!"

"Sorry, just checking again. Seems the modification is still in effect."

"That's right, my sacred gear…"

Gasper got up and bowed his head in a traditional Japanese manner, which is something that Rias taught him.

"Thank you. I-I know I said this before, but thank you so much. I'm forever in your debt, Taiga Senpai."

"Hey, no problem. But don't get ahead of yourself, this isn't permanent."

"H-Huh?"

Gasper raised his head in confusion, showing that he was on the verge of tears again.

"Remember last night, I promised that your modification would be temporary. Of course I'm not removing it now, but I will eventually."

"WHAT! B-B-BUT WHY!"

"Because one does not solve their problems by ignoring them, as doing so would only make them worse."

"That master of yours may have had good intentions when locking you in this room, but it's only a temporary solution at best. Same thing with me weakening your sacred gear."

"T-Then why don't you just remove it?"

"Cause it would kill you."

"Now do you understand. You were born with this power, and you will have it until the day you die, whether you like it or not.

Gasper looked down, tears streaming down his face.

"of course it wasn't that simple, I should have never gotten my hopes up like that. I'll never be free from this, I'll never be normal. maybe I was better of…"

"Which is why I've decided to train you."

Gasper looked up again.

"This was the real reason why I weakened your sacred gear, I figured it would make it easier for you to practice with it. And that's not all, if you agree to train with me, I can teach you loads of other stuff. I can teach you how to fight, I can teach you vampire magic, I could even teach you how to play violin."

"You… would really do all that for me?"

"Absolutely, anything to help a fellow dhampir."

"Birds of a feather fly together as they say."

"So, what do you say."

On the one hand, Gasper wanted to refuse. He had already tried many times to control this power to no avail, even Rias and her far more powerful older brother couldn't do anything. It would be much easier and safer to remain where he was. On the other hand, Taiga had a point. He knew deep down in his heart that he's been nothing but a burden to his peerage, only being kept around because of their kindness and the fact that he's good and making contracts. As long as he stayed in this room, that will always be the case. And now, he has met someone who not only wants to help him get stronger, but he had the actual means to do so. And better yet, he was a dhampir just like him and… Valerie. If he was going to trust anyone, it would have to be his own kind. Birds of a feather indeed.

"Yes, I want to be stronger. For the president, for Akeno Nee-Chan, For Yuuto senpai and Koneko Chan."

"Then it's a deal."

The two shook hands, with Gasper having a much firmer grip the before, something Taiga noticed and defiantly liked.

"By the way, I think we should keep this arrangement a secret from Rias, at least until were done."

"But won't she be mad."

"Obviously, but shell definitely try to stop us if we tell here now. If we wait till afterwords, she'll be able to see the final results and won't have any reason to complain."

"What she doesn't know won't hurt her."

"I… Guess you have a point."

"Cool, now that were in agreement…"

Taiga walks over to the bathroom door while pulling something out from his Blazer pocket. It was a paper talisman, the kind used by those of the Shinto faith to ward off evil spirits. It was purple in color and featured an illustration of a dragon.

"…let me show you something cool."

He placed the talisman on the door causing it to glow purple for a few seconds. Afterwords he opened the door, and Gasper was left in aww.

"TA DA! Whatcha think?"

"AMAZING! I've heard of door magic, but I've never seen it before myself."

With the talisman's power, the bathroom door now lead to a sprawling hallway lined with torches and many more doors.

"What is this place?"

"It's my home. Since I've been to yours, it's only fair I take you to mine."

Taiga and Kivat proceeded to enter while Gasper stood in place. This was not what he had in mind when he agreed to this, it was still too soon for him to leave. Then again it was still indoors, it wasn't like he was being forced to go outside in the sun. The horrible sun.

"Well, come on don't keep us waiting."

It was now or never. Gasper slowly made his way into the door which then closed behind him on its own, there was no going back now.

"Welcome to Castle Doran. And before you ask, I already labeled this door, so we won't forget where it is."

Gasper, that was the name engraved on it. All of the doors had their own labels, except they used symbols instead of names. One had a crescent moon with a circle in the gap, another had what looked like a water droplet forming. One had a small lightning bolt, another had an Egyptian Ank. The group walked down the hallway until they reached a set of double doors, Taiga opened them to reveal a lavish living room. The north wall had a fireplace that was lit ablaze, to the left corner was a curved couch made of black leather with a circular table, to the right corner was had a miniature library with a circular table and bean bags. The Left wall was lined with windows covered with red velvet curtains. A flat screen tv was on the south wall the left of the entrance, and to the right in the corner was a strange Golden Statue resembling an easter island head with arms in a prayer position. said statue also had red highlights on the top part of the arms and head crest, sliver covering the eyebrows and ears, and green eyes. The Right wall had another set of double doors and no other features. Finally, there was a large square table at the center of the room surrounded by six empty chairs and a glass chandler hanging above.

"Strange, where are the others?"

"O-Others?"

"You can say that I got a Peerage of my own, I told them all about you and that I would bring you over tonight. And yet, none of them are here. what the hell"

"My deepest apologies Taiga."

Suddenly, a woman appeared behind them. Which frightened Gasper while Taiga and Kivat remained completely unphased.

"AHHHH!"

"Ah Lady Doran, at the very least you are still hear."

She appeared much older than the boys, possible in her late twenties to early thirties. She had long lavender hair that was tied in a French braid and piercing golden eyes. She wore a medieval dress that appeared to be made from white cloth and violet silk with golden lacing, she even had a pair of golden slippers.

"Gasper, I'd like you to meet Lady Doran. She's… the keeper of this castle"

"A pleasure to meet you, Gasper. And I must say, you have certainly succeeded my expectations."

"I…Have?"

"I never would have imagined a crossdresser would be as adorable as you are."

"O-Oh, um… thank you."

"So, what's the situation, why is everyone late."

"Jiro is out getting his nightly exercise, Ramon is helping Mimi with the café, Riki is out getting last-minute groceries, and Goro is sleeping in… again."

"Well, that's just great. is there anything else that could possibly go wro…?"

Taiga halted his speech as he heard something, a buzzing in his ear that only he could hear.

"I just had to ask."

He turned towards Gasper and placed a hand on his shoulder

"Listen, something just came up so will have to postpone this until I get back. Lady Doran, Watch him for me."

"But off course"

"Alright, let's go Kivat."

"At once master."

And so, the duo exits the room in a mad dash, leaving their newfound ally confused

"W-Where are they going"

"Off to their job. Just like how you devils work by forming contracts, Taiga and Kivat also have their own work to do."

"Oh. Well, what do they do?"

Lady Doran paused for a moment before she decided to raise her hand, forming a ball of purple magic.

"I suppose he wouldn't mind if I showed you."

She tossed the magic ball at the living room tv, causing it to turn on. But instead of showing the news or any other channel, it showed security footage of Kuoh town. Specifically, an ally way.

It was midnight in the town of Kuoh, a time when most of the denizens would usually be at home sleeping soundly. But there are indeed exceptions to the rule, whether it be working the night shift or simply to have fun. That was definitely the case for a certain couple walking down the street. The man was wearing a grey suit with a white scarf. He had shoulder-length brown hair with green eyes. The woman was wearing a black businesswoman suit with a mini skirt. She had black hair in a ponytail with amber eyes. She was very drunk given her red face and the fact she could barely walk without the man's assistance.

"IT'S JUST NOT FAIR! I was the one who deserved that promotion. But my STUPID boss didn't think so! All beca… hic… because I'm a woman."

"I Could not agree more, Risako Chan. Someone as talented and amazing as you being treated like that, it's just unforgivable."

"You really… hic… really are the best, Ryo Kun. You're the only one who understands me."

The couple decided to take a short cut down the alleyway. Ryo stopped walking and began to stare at Risako.

"Ryo Kun, what's wrong."

"Sorry it's just, I really can't get over how beautiful you are."

"He He He, you flatter me too much."

"I'm serious. Your smart, your funny, your everything I could ever want in a woman. Beautiful on the inside and out. But there is one thing I have to know, before I know that you're truly the one."

"What is it."

Ryo's cheeks began to change color, but they were not red. They were various shades of green, yellow, and purple. Each color is separated by black intersecting veins, making it appear like stained glass.

"I want to know… how you taste."

two floating fangs that were small and translucent yellow, Emerged from his back. They stabbed themselves in Risako's neck.

"Ahh!"

She gasped as the fanged drained her body of its color and opaqueness. the fangs the removed themselves causing Risako' body to fall into Ryo's arms, she was now dead and clear as glass. The fangs returned to Ryo's body, and he felt a jolt power followed by pleasure.

"Oh Yes! This was the flavor I was hoping for!"

After his face returned to its normal color, Ryo gently laid the girl on to the ground, placing a kiss on her check.

"Thank you Risako Chan, you truly were beautiful inside and out, right until the very end."

He turned around to leave only to see someone on the other side of the alley, it was Taiga.

"How long have you been standing there."

"Long enough… Fangire"

"Well, Sadly I'm pretty full right now. So…"

The stained-glass pattern reappeared on his face.

"… I'll just have to kill you."

The light around Ryo's body began to bend and distort, until his true form was revealed. He was not human, he was a monster resembling a humanoid spider. His entire body was made up of black leathery skin and stained glass using the previously mentioned colors. His feet and hands had sharp claws with eight spider legs sticking out of his back, four of which were connected with stained glass making it look like a cape collar without the cape. His shoulders resemble purple feathers, and he had two green parrots on his face with one wing each, coming together to make a spider-like face. The bird heads were eyes, the beaks were fangs and the wings were mandibles. That said, he did have an actual mouth, but it had sharp and ugly teeth.

"I'd like to see you try. Kivat!"

"Ready when you are, Master."

Taiga grabbed his familiar with his right hand before he raised his other.

"Gaburi!"

He bit into Taiga's left hand causing black veins to appear on it, follow by a jagged red and yellow stained-glass pattern appearing on his checks. Chains then came out from behind him and wrapped around his waist which then morphed into a black belt. The buckle has a bar on top of it, and on the left and right straps were storage units with four golden whistles each. All the while this was happening, Kivat was emitting a deep and distorted siren from his body, a standby noise if you will. Taiga raised the Bat Infront of him...

"Henshin!"

...Before he hooked his legs on the bar of the belt buckle, allowing Kivat to hang from it upside down.

"Henshin!"

A green magic circle appeared in front of the dhampir, the circle having crest made up of two batwings split down the middle with a sideways crescent moon on top forming the head. The circle collided with Taiga causing it to shatter into hundreds of glass shards which then reassembled themselves into a suit of vampiric armor around his body, Armor that was completely green until it shifted to its proper colors. His under suit was black with a bit of red around the hip area. He had black gloves and black boots with red on the top and sharp heels that pointed upwards. He has silver knee guards that resemble bat talons. He had silver bracelets and anklets with two red orbs on each of them. There was red imperialistic armor with black lines on his shins, the sides of his thighs, his forearms, upper arms, shoulders, and torso. The shoulder armor had sharp blades on it, and the torso armor was a vest with a collar and two thin black capes hanging behind it. The chest armor was black with a bat wing design on the top and a silver line down the middle, said line having three green orbs on it. Finally, there is the helmet, which was red with a silver mouth guard that resembled bat fangs. The helmet's mask was a black bat with its wings spread open. The mask has large sharp green eyes resembling the ones you'd find on a jack-o-lantern and a green orb on the forehead where the "Bats head" is. Overall, this was truly a vampiric warrior, almost as if Dracula himself became a superhero.

"Oh, I know who you are now. You're the one who's been hunting and killing my people. The one they call… Kamen Rider Kiva. Now I Really have to kill you. Not just for me, but for all my fellow Fangire who a have fallen to your hands."

The Spider Fangire charged at Kiva ready to strike him down… only for the masked dhampir dodge and spin kick him into the street.

"As if you have the right to play avenger, considering you just drained an innocent woman in front of me."

Kiva slowly walked towards the monster while he was talking. Undeterred, the Spider got back up and tried again. But no matter how many times he swiped with his claws, Kiva dodge them every time, except for the last one. Instead, he caught it with his arm allowing him to knee the spider in his gut a before smacking him away.

"So what, at least I treated her well. Humans are such a tragic existence, unable to truly fight back against the supernatural world, they can only delay the inevitable. The best outcome for weak beings like them is to become food for those who are stronger."

"That mindset will be your downfall, just like the rest."

Kiva charged at the Fangire only for the latter spit a ball of web at the former's feet causing him to trip and fall.

"I Guess you had a downfall of your own."

The Spider leaped into the air and was ready to stomp Kiva's head into the ground, only for the Dhampir to sprout his wings, allowing him to fly upwards. He pulled off the webbing and retracted his wings for a smooth landing. The Spider was now getting mad, as he extended his spider legs. Stretching them forward in an attempt to stab him… which he eventually did. A single leg managed to pierce into his gut.

"Ha Ha! I Have you now, you little…"

But it was a trap, Kiva's armor was double reinforced to protect against stabbings. He used this to his advantage and grabbed the Spider leg and pulled the Fangire upwards before slamming him into the ground. Then he did it again, and again, and again, and again, until it ripped off.

"I believe we should end this, Master."

"Agreed."

The Spider Fangire was groaning in pain on the cracked pavement. After tossing away the detached leg, Kiva pulled out a one of the golden whistles from the right storage unit of his belt. Each whistle had a unique sculpt with a secondary color, The one he pulled out had a black bat mask. He placed it into Kivat's mouth and tapped it.

"Wake Up One!"

He blew the whistle, which sounded like a pipe organ playing a tune. Kiva than did a crouching pose with his arms crossed like a vampire in his coffin, he leaped high into the air and shouted from the top of his voice.

"Hissastu: Darkness Hell Crash!"

The Fangire was able to get back up on his feet, only to See Kiva was flying towards him with Right fist in the air glowing with red power. Apon landing, He struck the monster with a punch to the chest knocking him into a wall. The fight was over, Kivat removed himself from the belt causing Kiva's armor to turn grey before breakoff into pieces.

"Wait, Is That it?"

The Fangire asked.

"All that build, for a punch that did not even leave a bruise me. And now you are just giving up. What are you…?"

Crack, a small crack appeared on the point of impact with glowing light seeping out of it.

"W-What?"

The crack began to form into large cracks that spread throughout every part of his body.

"No, this cannot be. No! No!"

The cracks and the light coming out of it began to grow bigger and bigger until.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

He exploded into shards of broken glass. There were no blood or organs inside, just a single ball of glowing white light that floated towards the glass corpse of that woman. Upon entering her body, her color and opaqueness were restored, along with something more. Taiga smiled upon seeing this before he used his vampiric power to transform into a flock of bats. Swarming everywhere, until they disappeared. Risako began to awaken from what was almost her eternal slumber, and she had a huge hangover.

"Ah my head, Ryo Kun. Ryo Kun, where are you?"

She searched and searched, yet she never found him, nor did she find his glassy remains or the battle damage on the street, for it was all swept away. She will never know the truth of what happened, but that is for the best. For most of humanity, ignorance is bliss, and bliss brings smiles. This is what Kiva fights for, to protect the smiles of the world. That is the way of the Kamen Rider.

Next Time on Kiva DxD

"I've made it my mission to hunt the Fangires and keep them in line."

"The path of a Kamen Rider is no easy road to take."

"I will become stronger, For them."

"Henshin!"
